Wellsboro’s Junior High Volleyball team suffered a 2-1 loss to Troy on the road Wednesday evening.
Troy took the first set 25-13 before the young Lady Hornets battled back to win the second, 25-18. Troy then took the third set 15-9 for the win.
“Tonight was a competitive game with a lot of long rallies,” first-year head coach Valery Weaver said. “It was a hard fought game with some really solid volleyball played, but unfortunately ended with a hornet defeat.”
Kyerra Heck led Wellsboro with 16 points, 4 aces and 2 digs while Rachel Weaver had 7 points, 3 aces and 2 digs. Harper Bourret (3 digs) and Reese Eckart (1 dig) added 2 kills apiece and Nora Mickey and Lila Morey also added a kill each.
Wellsboro won the B game 2-1. They won the first set 25-15, but fell 25-20 in the second. Wellsboro then hung on for a 15-13 win in the third set to pull out the win.
Leah Szentesy scored 10 points and had 4 aces in the game while Ella Satalin had 7 points and 4 aces.
The team is back at home on Monday, September 8 against Towanda.
