Wellsboro’s Junior High Volleyball team dropped a game in straight sets to Towanda on Monday.
Wellsboro lost the first set in a close battle, 25-22, then Towanda took the 2nd set 25-14.
“We couldn’t get our offense going effectively,” head coach Valery Weaver said. “We struggled serving and Towanda did a good job capitalizing on passing to holes on our side of the court.”
Harper Bourret led Wellsboro with 7 points and 3 aces, Rachel Weaver scored 6 points (3 aces), Reese Eckart had 4 points (3 aces), and Alexis Dunning scored 3 points (1 ace).
Wellsboro won the B games in three sets: 25-17, 8-25, and 15-11. Alayna Richards scored 10 points while recording 3 aces. Devan Fairbanks added 5 points and 5 aces and Leah Szentesy pitched in 4 points and 2 aces.
Wellsboro returns home Wednesday against Sugar Valley Rural Charter.
