Itâ€s a sad day for fans of Yoshihiko and DDT-Pro Wrestling.
DDT-Pro announced that Yoshihiko has been sidelined with injuries accumulated over the years. Taking to X/Twitter, the promotion noted that Yoshihiko will be “undergoing an overhaul and will be out for a long time.â€
While DDT-Pro didnâ€t provide a definitive timeline for Yoshihikoâ€s return, fans can expect the star to remain out of action for an extended period. If memory serves this writer correctly, this is the first time DDT has officially announced that their star performer will be taking a break from active in-ring competition.
For those still wondering about Yoshihikoâ€s identity, it is an inflatable doll with a storied history inside the squared circle. According to DDT lore, Yoshihiko made their pro wrestling debut in 2005 and spent the following years taking on then-up-and-comers Kenny Omega and Kota Ibushi, even challenging for the KO-D Tag Team Championship at DDT Max Bump 2009.
Speaking of championships and accomplishments, Yoshihiko is a former 22-time Ironman Heavymetalweight Champion, a one-time KO-D 8-Man Tag Team Champion, and a one-time UWA World Trios Champion.
Yoshihikoâ€s last match was a DDT Pro Wrestling KO-D Openweight Title match loss to Kazuki Hirata on September 28. Prior to that, Yoshi competed in a tag team match for DDT Pro on September 2, as well as a 6-person tag match during GCWâ€s July event at Korakuen Hall in Tokyo.
WrestleZone wishes Yoshihiko all the best in their recovery.
