A WWE star is set to participate in a tournament, which could change the course of their career with a new name.
WWE’s Legends & Future Greats, known as LFG, operates as a reality competition series searching for the next generation of wrestling talent. The show brings athletes from different backgrounds through a process to earn a contract with NXT brand. Each season crowns two winners who begin their professional wrestling careers at the developmental level, training with established wrestlers before moving to television.
Jasper Troy and Tyra Mae Steele won the inaugural season of LFG and are established stars in NXT now. Their journey shows that LFG serves as a legitimate pathway into professional wrestling. Last October, LFG Season 2 came to a close with two new winners ready to follow their predecessors. One was Dani Sekelsky, a 24-year-old former NFL cheerleader who competed for Team Undertaker. Sekelsky had been on the show during Season 1, making it to the semifinals before getting eliminated. That loss motivated her to return and finish what she started.
WWE Star Dani Sekelsky Set for NXT Debut
Just days after winning, Sekelsky received her new ring name. WWE reportedly filed the trademark for Skylar Raye on November 4, officially establishing her professional wrestling identity. The quick turnaround signals WWE wants her on television soon.
Raye’s first television opportunity arrived immediately. She entered the WWE Women’s Speed Championship tournament, created after Sol Ruca relinquished the title due to injury on October 28. The tournament pits Raye against Fatal Influence’s Fallon Henley in the first round, with Wren Sinclair facing Zaria in the other semifinal. Speed Championship matches feature quick action with three-minute first-round contests and five-minute finals. This tournament marks Raye’s official NXT television debut.
