WWE has dropped the Invasion name for the upcoming event between NXT and TNA next month.
Invasion, the original title of the WWE/WCW pay-per-view back in 2001, was set to be resurrected next month for a Tuesday night special of NXT that would see the brand go head-to-head with TNA Wrestling.
However, complaints emerged regarding the title of the show and the date it was taking place on October 7. Thus, WWE decided it was best to change course and rename the event.
WrestleVotes took to social media prior to tonightâ€s episode of WWE NXT to reveal the new name, tweeting out:
“The NXT vs TNA ‘Invasion†show is getting a new name. Itâ€s now titled ‘Showdown,’†WrestleVotes said in a post.
