WWE announced Thursday it’s taking the Elimination Chamber premium live event to Chicago’s United Center on Feb. 28, 2026.
Although WWE has regularly traveled to the Windy City through the years, this is the promotion’s first PLE/pay-per-view since SummerSlam 1994.
“WWE’s highly anticipated return to the United Center is going to electrify Chicago,” said Choose Chicago president and CEO Kristen Reynolds, whose organization is partnering with WWE for the show. “Major live events like this showcase Chicago as a year-round destination, filling our hotels, restaurants, and arenas with fans from around the country and broadcasting our energy and hospitality to millions more tuning in.
“Thank you to WWE for choosing Chicago — this is another win for our city and a testament to why no one does big moments better than we do.”
Elimination Chamber is sandwiched between the Royal Rumble and WrestleMania 42 on WWE’s PLE schedule for 2026. That position makes it a meaningful stop on the company’s proverbial road to the Showcase of the Immortals.
At this year’s Elimination Chamber, John Cena won the men’s Chamber match to earn a shot against Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania. After the match, he made his long-desired heel turn when he attacked Rhodes.
At this point, it’s too early to say for sure what matches are poised to close out WrestleMania 42’s two nights next April. Seth Rollins’ shoulder injury probably disrupted the creative team’s original plans, and the list of world champions is likely to evolve in the months ahead.
When it comes to Elimination Chamber, Chicago native CM Punk figures to have a big role. Anybody who watched Sami Zayn’s Montreal homecoming in 2023 will know, however, the the local hero doesn’t always prevail in the end.
