Asia Cup 2025 Timings Changed: The Emirates Cricket Board has moved almost the entire Asia Cup 2025 schedule into the evenings, an adjustment forced by the Gulf’s brutal September heat. Eighteen of the 19 matches will now start at 6:30 PM local time (8 PM IST), rather than the originally planned slots.
Asia Cup 2025 Timings Changed: When Will India vs Pakistan Match Happen?
The sole exception is UAE vs Oman in Abu Dhabi on September 15, which stays as a day fixture. Everything else, including India’s opening game against UAE on September 10 and the much-anticipated India-Pakistan meeting in Dubai on September 14, will unfold under lights.
The tournament, running from September 9 to 28, features eight teams split into two groups: India, Pakistan, UAE and Oman in Group A; Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Hong Kong in Group B. It will be played in the T20 format, doubling as preparation for next year’s T20 World Cup.
The ECB explained the changes were made “to ensure better playing conditions” as daytime temperatures in the UAE hover around 40°C in early September. It is not the first time cricket in the region has been forced into nocturnal hours, but the blanket shift highlights just how unforgiving the conditions are.
For India, the competition begins with a straightforward assignment against the hosts before the marquee clash with Pakistan. The BCCI has named Suryakumar Yadav as captain, with Shubman Gill returning as vice-captain. Several senior players have been rested or overlooked, leaving room for a younger core to shape India’s campaign.
