A WWE veteran apparently did not quite get along with John Cena, despite how well respected and talented the latter was.
The Cenation Leader has had a stellar career in WWE, going through highs and lows to become one of the greatest names in the Stamford-based promotion’s history. His current retirement run has garnered a lot of attention, with many paying tribute to him as he nears the end of his in-ring career.
While most have only good things to say about Cena, former WWE US Champion Ken Anderson apparently was not exactly fond of working with him. Speaking on the All Axxess Entertainment podcast, he also noted that Cena’s rise through his career was commendable despite their contentious past.
“I never really had like great feelings working with John Cena, we were never very close. Never had a great working relationship. I always felt like he was working against me. But I will say like, you know, with that being said, he is obviously like, he is the man you know. He has been the man in the business and I think it was kind of a crazy thing for him like, just to witness the Cena sucks, let’s go Cena, Cena sucks thing, and how he was still the top guy. You know that was just like an amazing, somebody should make a college course on that alone someday. Like a study in that how that was successful. What made it successful you know.”
Another WWE Legend Recently Praised John Cena
While Ken Anderson may have had issues with Cena, CM Punk has had a different experience.
Taking to Instagram, the Second City Saint posted a picture of himself alongside Cena and Cody Rhodes, all currently champions in WWE. The caption had him thanking Cena for all the memories and lessons, among other things.
Thank you for the stories, the memories, the lessons. Thank you for the competition. The rivalries and the teamwork alike. Side by side. The view changes. Thank you for the house,†wrote CM Punk.
The “Last Time Is Now” tournament is in full swing at the moment, and it remains to be seen who will get the chance to be Cena’s final opponent.
