    US Open 2025

    Venue: Flushing Meadows, New York Dates: 24 August-7 September

    World number ones Aryna Sabalenka and Jannik Sinner will begin their US Open title defences from Sunday in New York.

    Sabalenka is bidding for her first major title of the year, having suffered heartbreaking defeats in the Australian Open and French Open showpieces.

    Sinner, meanwhile, bounced back from losing the French Open final to win Wimbledon, and is bidding for an third hard court major trophy.

    Carlos Alcaraz, who beat Sinner in Paris before the Italian gained his revenge at SW19, will be one of the main challengers, alongside Novak Djokovic and Alexander Zverev.

    Jack Draper and Emma Raducanu, meanwhile, lead the British challenge at Flushing Meadows.

    When is the US Open 2025?

    The US Open takes place from Sunday, 24 August to Sunday, 7 September at Flushing Meadows in New York.

    The women’s singles final takes place on 6 September, with the men’s on 7 September.

    Qualifying – where players need to win three matches to reach the main draw – took place from 18-21 August.

    When is the US Open draw?

    The draw for the first round took place on Thursday, 21 August.

    Which British players are taking part?

    Raducanu, Katie Boulter, Sonay Kartal, Draper, Cameron Norrie and Jacob Fearnley all qualified for the main draw as Britain’s top three women’s and men’s players.

    They were joined by Francesca Jones, who came through qualifying, and Billy Harris, who lost in the final round of qualifying but reached the main draw as a lucky loser.

    Raducanu beat qualifier Ena Shibahara in the first round to claim her first victory in New York since her 2021 title triumph.

    Draper also beat a qualifier in Federico Gomez to advance, while Norrie reached the second round after opponent Sebastian Korda retired with injury.

    What is the prize money this year?

    Earlier this month the United States Tennis Association announced a 20% increase in prize money for the US Open, creating what is claims is “the largest purse in tennis history’.

    The total prize pot is $90m (£67.4m), with the champions of the men’s and women’s singles event each receiving $5m (£3.75m).

    The winners of the mixed doubles event – Italian doubles specialists Sara Errani and Andrea Vavassori – took home $1m, while runners-up Iga Swiatek and Casper Ruud won $400,000.

    What is the doubles schedule?

    The mixed doubles began on Tuesday, 19 August with the first round and quarter-finals, and concluded on Wednesday, 20 August with the semi-finals and final.

    Italian doubles specialists Sara Errani and Andrea Vavassori defended their title by defeating singles stars Iga Swiatek and Casper Ruud 6-3 5-7 10-6 in a thrilling match that finished just before midnight.

    The women’s doubles event will begin on Thursday, 28 August at 16:00 BST, with the men’s doubles starting on Friday, 29 August at 16:00 BST.

    The women’s doubles final is scheduled for Friday, 5 September from 17:00 BST, with the men’s on Saturday 6 September from 17:00 BST.

    The quad wheelchair doubles final will take place on Friday 5 September.
