John Cena will have a retirement match, but fans donâ€t know much beyond that. A new report suggests that WWE may make things formal very soon.
Cena only has a few dates left on his retirement tour with WWE. The final one, his retirement match, has not been announced yet. According to a new report from WrestleVotes Radio, that announcement could come as soon as this weekend.
The outlet noted that WWE plans to announce formal details about John Cenaâ€s final match this coming week. The announcement could come as soon as Sunday.
Earlier this month, WrestleVotes reported that Cenaâ€s final match will take place at the Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C. The match will be part of the next WWE Saturday Nightâ€s Main Event special on December 13th. WWE has not publicly confirmed the details of this being the site of Cenaâ€s retirement match.
Fans previously speculated that Cenaâ€s final match would take place in his hometown of Boston. However, WWE announced Cena will be in Boston for a November 10 RAW taping. Reports suggest that WWE didnâ€t go with Boston for the retirement match for financial reasons.
The Takedown on SIâ€s Jon Alba first reported that Boston made a hard push to host Cenaâ€s retirement match. However, WWE asked the city to cover the costs of hosting the event. According to F4WOnlineâ€s Dave Meltzer, WWE asked for a site fee that was close to the $7 million figure that New Jersey paid for SummerSlam this year. The city believed the asking price was too high, feeling like an event so close to the holidays wouldnâ€t generate the level of tourism needed to justify the cost.
