Most Royal Rumble Wins:The Royal Rumble is a professional wrestling event produced annually by WWE since 1988. It is named after the Royal Rumble match, a variation of the battle royal where wrestlers enter the ring at timed intervals rather than all starting together. The inaugural event took place in 1988 as a television special on the USA Network. From 1989 onward, it became a pay-per-view event and has been livestreamed since 2015.
The Royal Rumble match usually serves as the main event. Exceptions include 1988, 1996, 1997, 1998, 2006, 2013, and 2023, where a menâ€s world championship match was the main event instead. The first womenâ€s Royal Rumble match took place in 2018, and that event was also the first to feature both menâ€s and womenâ€s Rumble matches on the same card. Since then, both versions have become standard.
The 2025 Royal Rumble was the first to be hosted in an NFL stadium. The 2026 edition will mark the first time the event is held outside North America, taking place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, also making it the first of WWEâ€s “Big Five†events to be hosted in the country.
