20. Tennessee (5-2, Previous Rank: 10)
Week 8 Result:Loss at Alabama (20-37)
Next Week:at Kentucky
The Volunteers allowed 16 unanswered points in the final eight minutes of the first half, including a safety and an interception returned for a touchdown, and they were unable to dig out of that early hole against the Crimson Tide defense. DeSean Bishop had a good individual game out of the backfield, tallying 123 rushing yards and two touchdowns. Tennessee will need to win out to have a chance at a playoff spot, with Oklahoma and Vanderbilt their toughest remaining games.
19. Cincinnati (6-1, Previous Rank: 21)
Week 8 Result:Win at Oklahoma State (49-17)
Next Week:vs. Baylor
The Bearcats cruised to victory against arguably the worst Power Four team in the nation, building a 28-10 lead at halftime behind three second quarter touchdowns. Brendan Sorsby completed 20-of-29 pass attempts for 270 yards and three touchdowns while adding a fourth score on the ground, and he has quietly emerged as one of the more consistent quarterbacks in the nation in his second year under center at Cincinnati.
18. South Florida (6-1, Previous Rank: 20)
Week 8 Result:Win vs. Florida Atlantic (48-13)
Next Week:at Memphis
After previously undefeated Memphis lost earlier in the day, South Florida took care of business against Florida Atlantic to cement their status as the top Group of Five team in the nation midway through the season. Dual-threat quarterback Byrum Brown had another big game, logging 256 passing yards, 111 rushing yards and four touchdowns, and the Bulls piled up 522 total yards of offense while recording their fourth straight game with at least 200 rushing yards.
17. Notre Dame (5-2, Previous Rank: 23)
Week 8 Result:Win vs. USC (34-24)
Next Week:BYE
On the strength of a career night from running back Jeremiyah Love, the Fighting Irish took another significant step toward putting their 0-2 start in the rearview mirror as they try to win out and make their case for a spot in the College Football Playoff. Love had 228 rushing yards on 24 carries while also recording one of Notre Dame’s three rushing touchdowns. Meanwhile, the defense shut down the USC running game, picked off Jayden Maiava twice and held standout wide receiver Makai Lemon to four catches for 76 yards.
16. Louisville (5-1, Previous Rank: NR)
Week 8 Result:Win at Miami (24-21)
Next Week:vs. Boston College
Miller Moss (23-of-37, 248 yards, 2 TD), Isaac Brown (15 carries, 113 yards) and Chris Bell (9 catches, 132 yards, 2 TD) all had strong games, but it was Louisville’s defense that shined in a huge win against previously undefeated Miami. After jumping out to a 14-0 lead in the first quarter, they locked down the victory by picking off Carson Beck four times and allowing just 2.6 yards per carry.
Injury Report and Waiver Wire Targets
The Rams have already announced that star receiver Puka Nacua won’t play in Week 7 because of an ankle injury. Since L.A. plays on Sunday morning, managers should go ahead and adjust their lineups ahead of time.
Calvin Ridley, Josh Downs, Terry McLaurin, Christian Watson and Ricky Pearsall qre also out, while Jets wideout Garrett Wilson is listed as doubtful. Jakobi Meyers, Stefon Diggs, Jalen Coker, Dontavyion Wicks and Deebo Samuel are among those listed as questionable.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers haven’t made designations for Monday night yet, but Mike Evans, Chris Godwin and Emeka Egbuka have all missed practice time this week.
Denver Broncos wideout Troy Franklin might be the most enticing waiver target this week, as he’ll face a New York Giants defense that has surrendered the fourth-most fantasy points to opposing receivers. Franklin has logged at least three receptions in three straight games. He’s rostered in just 22 percent of Yahoo leagues and 33 percent of ESPN leagues.
Kayshon Boutte’s matchup with the Tennessee Titans isn’t quite as attractive, but the New England Patriots receiver is coming off a 95-yard, two-touchdown performance. He’s still available in over 60 percent of Yahoo leagues and 70 percent of ESPN leagues.
Other wide receivers to consider this week include Kendrick Bourne, Tre Tucker, Elic Ayomanor and Christian Kirk.
Oct 11, 2025; Nashville, Tennessee, USA; Nashville Predators left wing Filip Forsberg (9) celebrates goal with center Brady Martin (44) against the Utah Mammoth during the first period at Bridgestone Arena. Steve Roberts-Imagn Images
The Nashville Predators have completed the first week of the 2025-26 season.
Through five games, the Preds have a 2-1-2 record for six points, good for second in the Central Division. They have lost just once in regulation: a 7-4 road defeat against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Oct. 14. The other two losses came in overtime to Utah and Montreal.
The sample size may be small, but there are numerous positive and negative aspects to the Predators’ first week of action. Here are three takeaways from the week.
The Predators Are Ahead Of Last Season’s Pace
Things couldn’t have started off much worse for Nashville in 2024-25. The club began 0-5 in the season’s first week before winning its next two.
Filip Forsberg, who ended up leading the Preds in scoring, was averaging a point per game through the first five. The offense was averaging 2.00 goals per game while opponents were averaging 4.60.
Juuse Saros sported an 0-4 mark with a 3.64 goals-against average and .875 save percentage.
After six games this season, Erik Haula (2-2-4), Jonathan Marchessault (2-2-4) and Roman Josi (1-3-4) each have four points. Haula, Marchessault and Nick Perbix are in a three-way tie for the team lead in goals with two.
The Preds are averaging 2.80 goals per game while giving up a 3.00 average to the opposition.
Saros has been lights-out with a 2-0-2 record, 1.94 goals-against average and .935 save percentage. Backup Justus Annunen suffered the only other OT loss, allowing four goals in Toronto.
To say the Predators look like a team who could contend for the playoffs is unrealistic, as the overtime loss against the Canadiens Thursday in Montreal proved.
The Preds held a 2-1 lead until Cole Caufield scored with just 19 seconds left in regulation to require overtime, then tallied the golden goal to give the Habs a come-from-behind win.
“(It) sucks when you’re 19 seconds away from pulling out of the win and you only get one point,” Preds forward Steven Stamkos, who scored his first goal of the season, told reporters following the loss.
The goal-scoring hasn’t come in bunches, and the defense, while showing some flashes, has had costly breakdowns. Nevertheless, the Predators will take what progress they can get.
Special Teams Have Had Mixed Reviews
Last season, the Predators finished 18th in the NHL on the power play at 21.9%. Through six games in 2025-26, it has been abysmal.
The power-play unit is 2-for-19 through five games. It snapped a string of 13 consecutive chances without a goal when Stamkos scored on a power play at the 11:36 mark of the third period in Montreal.
The Preds were 0-for-6 with the man advantage in their 4-1 victory in Ottawa against the Senators Oct. 13. It didn’t affect the outcome in that game, but through the course of an 82-game season, that won’t be the case.
the Preds had the chance to put the game against the Senators out of reach with a 1-0 lead in the third period after David Perron went off for tripping, but failed to convert.
“We’ve got to put teams away in those situations, especially when you get a power play in the third period,” forward Jonathan Marchessault said after the Ottawa win.
Such paltry numbers are sure to turn around to some degree. With Roman Josi, Filip Forsberg, Steven Stamkos, Jonathan Marchessault and Ryan O’Reilly making up the first unit, the Preds have to get better production.
Meanwhile, Nashville’s penalty-kill unit has been near-perfect. Entering the Montreal game, the Preds successfully killed off 11 of 12 penalties (91.7%), good for sixth in the league. They were a perfect 3-for-3 against the Habs. The only chance they failed to kill was a 6-on-4 against Ottawa.
The stellar play of the PK has thus far rolled over from last season, when the Preds finished seventh in the NHL at 81.5%.
Juuse Saros Has Been Money
Some eyebrows may have been raised when the Predators inked goaltender Juuse Saros to an eight-year, $61.92 million contract in July 2024. After posting a 2.98 GAA and .896 SP in 2024-25, the doubters got louder.
Saros has been spectacular in the four games he has started. Even in the heart-breaking 3-2 overtime loss to the Canadiens, he made a number of crucial saves amid a barrage of shots during sequences when the Preds’ defense failed to protect him.
The Finnish netminder has answered the bell in the early going, but even a great goaltender can’t do everything by himself. The back end has failed to protect both Saros and Annunen in key situations.
Such was the case in Toronto, when at least four of the Maple Leafs’ goals were scored when Annunen had little help.
“We probably weren’t all that sharp around the front of the net,” Preds head coach Andrew Brunette said after the 7-4 loss. “Those stick battles weren’t quite to our standard. A little bit slow early.”
If Saros continues to be great, the Preds will be in most games. At some point, however, the defense must be stronger around the net, especially when closing out an opponent.

MLTT WEEK 3 PLAYER POWER RANKINGS
Major League Table Tennis†top Season 3 players arenâ€t the names you would expect. Some are rookies, others are improved players, and a few crack the top ten due to a few things they do very well. But these players have shaped not just their teams, but MLTT as a whole so far. Here are the 10 top players so far in Season 3.
1.ÂKang Dong-Soo: Portland Paddlers
Singles: 14-4 (77.8%)
Golden Game: 18-18
Power Rating: 784.1
The Portland Paddlers made a massive investment in Kang Dong-Soo, drafting the Korean doubles champion in the second round of the 2025 MLTT Draft. Itâ€s hard to imagine that Christian Lillieroos expected his rookie to contribute like this. When matches seemed lost — especially against the Los Angeles Spinners on Friday — Kang would come in, decimate his opponent, and turn the momentum. His 8-1 singles record in Week 3, as well as his Player of the Week honors for Week 3, further cement him as the best player in MLTT at this moment.
2.ÂKoki Niwa: New York Slice
Singles: 6-3 (66.7%)
Doubles: 4-2 (66.7%)
Golden Game: 12-10
Power Rating: 772.2
Koki Niwa is not a mere rookie. Heâ€s one of the most decorated table tennis players in Japanese history. Heâ€s a two-time Olympic medalist. He retired from international competition because he wanted to “pass the torch†to younger Japanese players, many of whom looked up to him. Now, heâ€s in MLTT. And he willed the Slice to a 2-1 record in Week 2, using the quickness and intensity that make him one of the best chop blockers in the world. Singles? Doubles? Heâ€s dominated both events at the MLTT level, and he did so with style.

While some of the panelists will give Tennessee an interim head coaching bump, let’s remember rookie quarterback Cam Ward may not have his top wide receiver Calvin Ridley, who’s battling a hamstring injury.Â
Don’t fall for the boost of a new coach in this spot. In an effort to get Mike Vrabel a win over the team he led for six seasons, the Patriots will likely play spirited ball as well. They cover back-to-back road spreads.
Take the points—particularly in games that you’re getting between a touchdown (+6) to 8.5 points—at least once a week. In a season filled with the parity the NFL has been longing for, one touchdown-ish favorites aren’t just failing to cover but they’re also losing outright since Week 2 (see: PHI in Week 6, LAR and ARI in Week 5, LAC in Week 4 and GB in Week 3).Â
The Patriots are on a winning streak. Three straight victories and three straight ATS over the last three weeks. But this is Super-Maye and the Pats’ third straight road game and, in case you missed it, the Titans are the first NFL team to fire its head coach this season.
Give me that fired-up, new-coach boost over Vrabel’s former team narrative. Don’t be surprised if the Titans pull an outright upset—the Pats aren’t fullythere yet—and even if they don’t, this number at home bodes well for Tennessee. NFL teams are 6-3 ATS the week after a coach firing since 2022.
Patriots:Davenport, Moton
Titans:Gagnon, Hanford, Knox, O’Donnell, Sobleski
The Yankees’ HOPE Week has been named a finalist for the 2025 Allan H. Selig Award for Philanthropic Excellence.
HOPE Week, the Yankees’ long-running initiative to celebrate inspiring individuals and organizations in their local community, is one of five finalists for this year’s Selig Award, which was created by Major League Baseball in 2010 to recognize the charitable and philanthropic efforts of MLB clubs.
Along with HOPE Week, the other 2025 finalists are the Dodgers’ Wildfire Relief and Recovery, the Red Sox’s Fenway Park Learning Lab, the D-backs’ Inter-Tribal Youth Baseball and Softball Tournament and the Royals’ Literacy League.
Fans can vote for the 2025 Selig Award winner online at MLB.com here:
Voting is open through Monday, Oct. 20.
The Yankees established HOPE Week — which stands for Helping Others Persevere and Excel — in 2009, when they moved into the new Yankee Stadium. This year marked the 16th edition of HOPE Week.
HOPE Week is celebrated over five consecutive days during baseball season, with the Yankees shining a spotlight on a different individual, family or organization every day. HOPE Week honorees get to share their inspirational stories with Yankees players and fans, and each day of HOPE Week ends with a visit to Yankee Stadium on the day of a game.
The 2025 HOPE Week honorees included Joan Hyland and her nonprofit “Love, Nana”; nonprofit organization Bottomless Closet; Ed and Sue Goldstein and their nonprofit The Valerie Fund; young Yankees fans Carmine and Vincent Gagliano and their family’s The Strength of Brothers Foundation; and Brian Worthington, founder of the New York Metro Black Pilots of America.
Over the 16 years of HOPE Week, the Yankees have had 78 unique honorees and donated more than $1 million to them and their charities.
Yankees players, coaches and front office employees all participate in the community outreach program — from Derek Jeter helping outfit low-income men who were re-entering the workforce with new suits, to CC Sabathia and Jorge Posada taking a double-decker New York tour bus with young Haitian refugees, to Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton playing kickball with a middle school girl who was bullied.
For the last 12 years, the Yankees’ Minor League teams have also held their own HOPE Weeks, allowing the organization to reach more than 400 community causes in New York and around the country.
The Yankees even win on the field for their honorees during HOPE Week. The Bronx Bombers have a 44-28 record on HOPE Week since it began and have won 31 of their last 51 HOPE Week games.

Young English trio Jayden Xuan Chen, Dimitar Dimitrov and Amber Lemmon (pictured above) have joined 37 of the worldâ€s best 12-year-olds at ITTF World Hopes Week at the Elite Training Centre in Sheffield.
The players and their coaches arrived from all over the world on Sunday and started training on Monday morning with a welcome from the ITTF lead coaches.
The first exercise was a ‘top table†to establish the respective levels of the players and they have also undergone multiball training, with all the coaches supporting, including GB talent coaches who are also gaining experience during the week.
Dave Hembrough from our sports science partners Sheffield Hallam University has delivered a coach development session which also helped to break down language barriers and foster connections between the different nationalities. Dave will deliver a player session on Thursday.
Coach Ben Barlow has been asked to support the warm-ups with the players every day, while the delegations have had free time on Wednesday afternoon to look around the city.
Further training and education sessions will take place on Thursday, Friday and Saturday morning, building up to the Challenge event on Saturday afternoon and Sunday.

Tight Ends
4 of 6
In each of the past two seasons, the No. 1 tight end in fantasy has been a rookie: Sam LaPorta of the Detroit Lions in 2023 and Brock Bowers of the Las Vegas Raiders a year ago.
With players such as Bowers and Trey McBride of the Arizona Cardinals atop fantasy draft boards this summer, a three-peat appeared unlikely.
Someone forgot to tell Tyler Warren of the Indianapolis Colts, though.
After catching six passes for 63 yards and a touchdown last week against the Arizona Cardinals, the 23-year-old sits second in PPR points among tight ends. He has been held under 10 PPR points just once in six games.
Look out, Jake Ferguson. There’s a youngster hot on your tail.
Week 7 Tight End Rankings
2025 Fantasy Football Rankings powered by FantasyProsECR â„¢ – Expert Consensus Rankings
Players to Watch in Week 7
Harold Fannin Jr., Cleveland Browns (vs. MIA) [DraftKings DFS Value: $3,900]
The Browns are poor. However, the Dolphins have allowed the eighth-most PPR points per game to tight ends, David Njoku has a knee injury, and Dillon Gabriel has shown zero ability to push the ball down the field vertically.
Tucker Kraft, Green Bay Packers (at ARI) [DraftKings DFS Value: $4,900]
In terms of PPR points per game, Kraft is seventh among tight ends at this point in the season. Now the 24-year-old faces an Arizona Cardinals team giving up the sixth-most PPR points per game to the position in 2025.
Players to Avoid in Week 7
Hunter Henry, New England Patriots (at TEN) [DraftKings DFS Value: $4,100]
Henry came roaring out of the gate this year, but he has slowed down considerably the past two weeks. A matchup with a Titans defense surrendering the ninth-fewest PPR points per game to tight ends isn’t likely to be a slump-buster.
George Kittle, San Francisco 49ers (vs. ATL) [DraftKings DFS Value: $4,400]
From all indications, Kittle is trending toward a return from injured reserve in Week 7. But his snaps could be limited in his first game back, and the Falcons are dead-last in PPR points per game allowed to the position this season.
Chigoziem Okonkwo, Tennessee Titans (vs. NE) [DraftKings DFS Value: $3,300]
Okonkwo had six catches for 46 yards last week—his second game of the season with over 10 PPR points. The Patriots have been kind to opposing tight ends in 2025, being 10th in PPR points per game given up this year.
Jordan Chiles is once again moving on in the 34th season of Dancing with the Stars.
Week 5 was Dedication Week, giving stars a chance to dedicate their dance to someone important to them. Chiles chose to dedicate her dance to her father, who she said was the one who decided to get her into gymnastics when she was a child.
Most dancers on Tuesday incorporated the person they dedicated their dance to into their performance, and Chiles was no different. Her father joined her for much of her Viennese Waltz, which she performed alongside Ezra Sosa to “Daughters” by John Mayer.
The dance was technically sound with very few errors, and she earned a score of 32 out of 40. Her score likely would have been enough to advance anyway, but the judges announced at the end of the show that each dancer would advance to the next week.
But she had more than just a technical element. It was an emotional performance that certainly pulled on the heartstrings of the audience. Chiles’ father also received some praise for his performance.
Last week, during Disney Week, Chiles performed the quickstep to “Special Spice” from The Princess and the Frog and earned a score of 24 out of 30 possible points.
After another strong performance, she’s moving onto Week 6.
Athletes have historically fared well on Dancing with the Stars, with former NBA player Iman Shumpert and former NFL running back Rashad Jennings winning in past seasons.
Chiles is the only athlete remaining after former NBA star Baron Davis’ elimination, so she’s looking to represent well against the other actors, influencers and other celebrities.
This is DK Metcalf’s first season with the Pittsburgh Steelers, and it didn’t take him long to poke fun at an AFC North rival.
“I don’t want to get into divisional rivalries or anything of that nature. But I mean, it was fun kicking the Browns’ ass on Sunday,” the wide receiver said Tuesday following Sunday’s 23-9 victory over the Cleveland Browns, per Chris Adamski of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.
That was Pittsburgh’s first divisional game of the year, although it won’t have to wait long for its next one with a Thursday matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals looming.
The Steelers largely cruised in the 14-point win and never trailed a single time. Metcalf posted four catches for 95 yards and a touchdown as the offensive leader, but it was Pittsburgh’s defense that set the tone.
Cleveland never found the end zone while averaging 3.8 yards per rush and attempting 52 passes with Dillon Gabriel. The rookie completed 29 of those throws for 221 yards, zero touchdowns and zero interceptions and was also sacked six times.
It was an ugly showing for the 1-5 Browns and more of the same in this rivalry. Pittsburgh is 41-11-1 in head-to-head matchups against Cleveland since the 2000 season and has now won two in a row after a rare two-game losing streak in the rivalry.
As for Metcalf, he has 19 catches for 356 yards and four touchdowns through five games for the 4-1 Steelers and has demonstrated clear rapport with quarterback Aaron Rodgers. He will continue to endear himself to Steelers fans with so many touchdown catches, especially if they come in victories.
But taking shots at rivals is also going to make him even more of a fan favorite.
