A former WWE Universal Champion shared an update about their in-ring future in light of speculation about a possible retirement.

Back on May 2, 2025, Braun Strowman was part of the various names WWE released as part of budget cuts. He was a former Universal, Intercontinental, and Tag Team Champion, apart from being the 2018 Men’s Money in the Bank winner. After his release, he ventured into hosting a USA Network series titled Everything on the Menu with Braun Strowman, which tackled his visits to numerous restaurants during his tenure as a WWE Superstar.

While he’s currently a television star, his future as a wrestler was often a big question, as he has yet to appear in any wrestling activities, whether within WWE or outside. When asked about his in-ring status on Going Ringside, Strowman revealed that he was just on a hiatus right now and enjoying life outside the squared circle.

Iâ€m taking a break right now. These (hands) are always ready if anybody wants them, but right now, Iâ€m enjoying taking a little break, getting my body healed back up as normal as I can, and experiencing some other things that life has to experience,” he disclosed.

The Monster Among Men added that he enjoyed his time in the Stamford-based promotion but maintained that he’s enjoying his post-wrestling life.

I loved my time with WWE, but it took up every bit of my time. Now Iâ€m having some opportunities to get out and do some other stuff, see some other things.Iâ€ve made some ventures, I have a tequila brand now, Quintaliza, weâ€re working on that, so just living life and having fun,” Strowman remarked.

Hiroshi Tanahashi in New Japan Pro Wrestling

As 2025 slowly draws to a close, the final wrestling match of Hiroshi Tanahashi’s career draws ever closer. The President of New Japan Pro Wrestling has been on a retirement tour for over a year at the time of writing, and that tour will conclude on January 4, 2026 at NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 20 at the Tokyo Dome. Tanahashi has faced off with some of the biggest names of all time, making the choice of who his final opponent will be even tougher, but in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer broke down the possibility of having Tanahashi face someone who knows Tanahashi very well, current WWE Superstar Shinsuke Nakamura.

Nakamura got the world talking during the recent tour of Japan that WWE embarked on as he did a lot of Tanahashi’s mannerisms in his matches, as well as shouting Tanahashi out in a post-match promo. Meltzer reiterated a point he had made a few days earlier by saying that Nakamura does have a clause in his WWE contract that allows him to work dates in Japan, but that him being Tanahashi’s final opponent is far from a done deal. Of course, WWE would have to approve any Japanese booking Nakamura takes, but that isn’t the part that complicates things, it’s the fact that NJPW currently has a working relationship with AEW, the largest competition to WWE.

Meltzer doesn’t believe that NJPW would book someone from WWE due to the AEW relationship, especially if there are any AEW wrestlers on the Wrestle Kingdom 20 card, which is very possible considering the current IWGP World Heavyweight Champion is AEW star Konosuke Takeshita. However, Meltzer believes that even though AEW wouldn’t be happy about a WWE Superstar being involved with a NJPW show, the importance of Tanahashi’s retirement to the fans and the man himself could make this match an exception to the rule. Meltzer rounded off by saying that the opponent should be revealed either at the “Final Homecoming” event in Tanahashi’s hometown of Gifu on November 2, or in the days following that event.

Billy Gunnâ€s absence from AEW programming is not due to injury.

Max Caster and Anthony Bowens have reluctantly tagged with each other twice on recent episodes of Collision, but Gunn has not been part of the angle reuniting the pair. Jerry Lynn has instead played the veteran role encouraging them to team again.

During a recent appearance on Fuel & Flex, Gunn said heâ€s dealing with two stress fractures in his back. This led some to believe the injury could be why Gunn hasnâ€t been involved in the storyline with Caster and Bowens. However, Gunnâ€s team sent an email to WrestlePurists stating that his absence from AEW is not injury-related.

“Billy is fine, this is a very old injury that he has dealt with for years. It does not interfere with wrestling or training. It just gets sore if he trains too heavy or hard. Attached is a video today showing everyone heiss ok. Because of the internet, our phones have been blowing up asking if his back is hurt. His absence from AEW is due to him not being booked by creative,” an email Gunn’s team sent to WrestlePurists reads. The attached video is available below.

The 62-year-old has been active in recent months working for QT Marshall’s 1FW promotion in Georgia. He also continues to wrestle for Scott D’Amore’s Maple Leaf Pro promotion.

Elijah said in a recent interview that heâ€s hoping to be cleared to return soon.

The former Elias tore his left triceps attempting The Undertakerâ€s rope-walk spot during a six-man tag on the June 17 edition of NXT. The following week the promotion confirmed he had undergone surgery as a result.

In a recent interview with WrestleZone, Elijah shared an update on his recovery:

“I was on NXT TV a little over three months ago, wrestling against Trick Williams. I jumped off of the top rope, I landed in a bad way and I tore my tricep right off the bone. So Iâ€ve got myself a nice little scar here now and a screw in my arm. Which, it is what it is in wrestling, but yeah, the rehab is coming along well.”

Elijah did get involved in the closing moments of TNA Bound For Glory on October 12, giving Nic Nemeth a guitar shot when he appeared as though he was going to cash in his Call Your Shot Gauntlet contract on Mike Santana. Elijah says he was cleared enough to hit someone with a guitar, but is hoping to return in time for upcoming TNA TV tapings and the Turning Point pay-per-view at Full Sail University from November 13–15. If heâ€s not cleared by then, heâ€s hoping to be back for TNAâ€s tapings in El Paso, Texas, from December 5–7.

“Iâ€m feeling pretty good right now. But ultimately, itâ€s a surgeon and doctor call for me,†he continued. “I am supposed to see them relatively soon. Iâ€ve told them I want to be good to go by Orlando in, what do we got here, about three weeks? But again, itâ€s not ultimately my call.”

“If that was the case, if they gave me the go-ahead, Iâ€m by in the mix and Iâ€m good to go. And if not by Orlando, Iâ€d love to do it by El Paso. And I think Iâ€m at least healthy enough to play a song or smash somebody with a guitar if I have to.â€

Though Seth Rollins is unable to compete, it doesn’t look like WWE will be changing up its WarGames plans too drastically.

Dave Meltzer reports in the new issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that — as of now — WWE’s plans for the men’s WarGames match at Survivor Series is still for CM Punk & Roman Reigns to lead a babyface team against The Vision. Rollins was originally supposed to be the leader of the heel team until his shoulder injury, which led to WWE running an angle where his Vision teammates Bron Breakker & Bronson Reed turned against him.

Meltzer wrote:

Since many have asked, as of press time, the menâ€s WarGames match was still a Punk & Reigns team against The Vision-led team. Some thought with all the injuries that it would be changed to the Wyatts vs. MFTs since they are clearly doing a multi-person program there as well.

At one point, the WarGames plan was for Punk, Reigns, Jey Uso, Jacob Fatu, and a fifth partner to face Rollins, Breakker, Reed, Brock Lesnar & Austin Theory.

Fatu is out of action right now due to a dental procedure but might be cleared to return by Survivor Series weekend.

It was reported this week that, after Rollins’ injury, there are still voices within WWE pushing for Theory to remain in creative plans in a significant manner. It remains to be seen whether Theory will be joining Breakker & Reed in The Vision when he returns.

Rollins has undergone surgery for the shoulder injury after suffering it at Crown Jewel: Perth against Cody Rhodes. The injury forced Rollins to vacate the World Heavyweight Championship. A new champion will be decided at Saturday Night’s Main Event on November 1 when Punk and Jey Uso face off for the vacant title.

Survivor Series: WarGames is being held in San Diego on Saturday, November 29.

Kota Ibushi poses with his fist held high before a scheduled match

Etsuo Hara/Getty Images

AEW’s “Golden Star” Kota Ibushi is heading towards the path of what he promises to be a golden recovery, as the former and inaugural IWGP World Heavyweight Champion was released from the hospital following successful surgery to repair his broken leg.

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Ibushi was released from the hospital this past week. At this time, he is confined to a wheelchair, and will have to relearn how to walk, run, and jump, which the star said prior to his surgery will take roughly two years for him to be on the mend and back in a wrestling ring. But through wishful thinking, he wants to contradict what doctors have told him and come back sooner than anticipated. Ibushi thanked AEW President Tony Khan, Michael Nakazawa, and Golden Lovers tag team partner, Kenny Omega, for all of their help during this rather difficult stage in his life. In addition, Ibushi mentioned his body is going through rapid changes, including reports of significant weight loss of 27.3 pounds and skinnier legs.Â

Ibushi’s unfortunate injury occurred during a scheduled match earlier this month on “AEW Collision” against Josh Alexander of the Don Callis Family. While on the top rope, Ibushi slipped after his leg gave out and fell to the outside. He was then stretchered out. This is the second long-term injury Ibushi has sustained since joining AEW in 2023. In January of 2024, the former IWGP Heavyweight Champion suffered a double whammy, as he broke both of his ankles in a contest with Naomichi Marufuji at a Pro Wrestling NOAH event. After being granted a new work visa and officially documented as medically cleared, Ibushi returned to AEW in June of this year.

A WWE star is making his way back from a serious injury that sidelined him earlier this year.

His girlfriend, who also works as a wrestler, recently opened up about his recovery process, giving fans some hope that they’ll see him wrestling again soon. The update comes several months after he had to step back from competing due to his injury, and things are looking positive so far for his return.

Noam Dar suffered an injury in June that forced him to vacate the NXT Heritage Cup Championship. The timing was particularly difficult because he had only returned from an 11-month absence just two months before this latest setback. Dar had originally suffered a leg injury in May 2024 when Ethan Page attacked him, with Dar revealing that his tendon had been ripped off the bone.

Aleah James, Dar’s girlfriend and also a professional wrestler herself, gave an update on his recovery to The A2theK Wrestling Show. She talked about how well things are progressing for him, explaining that Dar is getting physically stronger every day and can do more with his body than he could before. She said they’re both excited and waiting for the day he can step back into the ring.

When discussing his progress, James said,

Yeah, it’s going along really well. Getting stronger and being able to do more and more. So, it’s just looking for that return. We’re ready, we’re waiting. He’s gonna be better and stronger than ever so, we’re looking forward to that.” (H/T: Fightful)

Dar made his return to in-ring action on April 22, 2025, defeating Lexis King to win the NXT Heritage Cup for a record-setting fourth time. His last match was at an NXT live event on June 13, 2025, before the injury forced him out of action.

Noam Dar’s Problems Following His Injury on WWE NXT

Following the Meta-Four’s official disbanding in April 2025, where the faction members announced they were pursuing individual ventures, Dar was one of the last remaining active members of the group. Before the June injury, Dar had led the faction in NXT, which included Lash Legend and Oro Mensah, along with Jakara Jackson. When Dar suffered his June injury, the group had already officially disbanded, though Mensah and Jackson were released by WWE shortly after the split was announced.

NXT GM Ava officially announced on June 21, 2025, that Dar would have to relinquish the Heritage Cup due to injury. The exact nature of this June injury has not been publicly disclosed by WWE officials, though some reports have suggested a possible torn pectoral muscle that could require significant recovery time.

Liverpool are facing a race against time regarding Ryan Gravenberch’s injury issues.

The Netherlands international played no part in the Reds’ 5-1 win at Eintracht Frankfurt on Wednesday night in Europe, as Florian Wirtz finally registered his first couple of goal contributions for the club.

But when it rains, it pours for the Reds, and after being brought off against Manchester United in their 2-1 loss at Anfield, it seems Slot will have to rejig his midfield once again, ahead of their trip to Brentford this weekend.

After not travelling to Germany in midweek, Liverpool posted a statement explaining the 23-year-old’s non-inclusion in the UEFA Champions League.

Whether it is time to panic or not remains to be seen, especially given his FPL prowess in terms of goals and defensive contributions.

“Yeah, I had to take him off during the weekend because he limped a little bit, as we could all see. So, unfortunately, he’s not ready to play tomorrow.

“That already means I definitely have to change one player and with him not being there, that might mean something for others as well, because he has such a particular quality in our squad, which we’ve seen when we played Bournemouth for example, when we played the Community Shield – that we missed a little bit of a player that was always protecting our back four.

“Ryan is not available for the Frankfurt game, hopefully he will be available at the weekend.

“But it’s an ankle injury, we have to wait and see, give him a bit of time and see where he is when we come back from Frankfurt.”

Chelsea forward Cole Palmer is still continuing to be frustrated by injury setbacks.

The England international has not played for Enzo Maresca’s side since a 2-1 defeat against Manchester United on September 20, with Robert Sanchez sent off early in that contest.

Chelsea swept Dutch giants Ajax aside 5-1 in the UEFA Champions League this week, with Marc Guiu, Moises Caicedo, Enzo Fernandez, Estevao and Tyrique George all on the scoresheet.

Next up for Maresca’s side is a home clash with Sunderland in the Premier League on Saturday, as they look to continue their impressive form as of late.

Despite having already spent a lengthy period on the sidelines, the recent communications coming out of Stamford Bridge suggest Palmer is set for another six weeks out.

It is a persistent thigh injury that continues to trouble the England star, with Palmer and Chelsea keen to get the issues resolved fully before the 2026 World Cup next year.

“I was wrong,” Maresca told a news conference on October 17. “Unfortunately, he needs to be out probably six more weeks. So, yes, this is the update.

“We try to protect Cole as much as we can,” Maresca said. “The most important thing is [that] when he comes back, he is fully fit.

“The medical staff are not magicians. We hope six weeks are enough. We need to see it step-by-step. For sure, he’s going to be OK. He looks relaxed. He has tried to recover from the injury and is doing all the therapy.”

Tottenham will hope to potentially have Cristian Romero back in time for their Premier League clash with Everton this weekend.

Injury issues have often hindered Romero’s progress at Tottenham, with former boss Ange Postecoglou frequently complaining about Spurs’ woes in terms of fitness during his tenure at the club.

It is something Frank will be aware of, with Destiny Udogie yet another defensive option who has recently spent time on the sidelines in North London.

Frank addressed the issues before his side’s clash in Europe this week and admitted Romero’s problem is more of a strain than a tear or a pull.

It does remain to be seen whether the Argentina international will be thrown back into the action against what will be a very physical Everton side.

“It’s an adductor strain. We will assess it more this week before we confirm any timeframe.” When asked if fans should be worried, he added: “No, I don’t think so, it’s a strain.”

Frank will speak to the media again before his side face the Toffees, so we expect the Dane to provide yet another update on the matter.
