Multi-time champion is apparently viewed by WWE officials as “undersized.”

There have been several newer stars compared to wrestling legends, among them being Chad Gable. The two-time RAW Tag Team Champion has impressed fans throughout the years with his athleticism and entertaining character work, earning him the dub as this generation’s Kurt Angle.

Although the WWE Hall of Famer agrees that the one-time NXT and SmackDown Tag Team Champion is great, Kurt Angle thinks Chad Gable’s height may be holding him back.

Kurt Angle Says WWE Office Might Have An Issue With Chad Gable’s Stature

In a recent appearance on The Ariel Helwani Show, Kurt Angle was asked about the comparisons made about him and Chad Gable. The former shared that he admires the latter and was glad the current superstar found his style, even if it’s similar to Kurt’s.

However, Angle added that the WWE office may have an issue with the one-time Speed Men’s Champion’s height, but noted that several wrestling legends like Eddie Guerrero and Rey Mysterio managed to be successful in the industry.

I think he’s great. I’m just happy that he was able to find his niche. I know it’s kind of identical to mine, but if it works for him, I’m happy for him. I think regardless whether he did my character or anybody else’s, I think the kid’s incredibly talented. So, I think that he would have succeeded either way. You know the problem with him? I think it’s only because the office looks at him like this, but he’s a little undersized. But that’s not an excuse. Chris Benoit was 5’9, Eddie Guerrero was 5’8, Rey Mysterio is 5’5. So someone like Chad could definitely be a main event.”

Chad Gable has been out of action since June this year after sustaining a shoulder injury. As a result, his alter ego of El Grande Americano was taken over by Ludwig Kaiser.
