Tony Khan has revealed his thoughts on John Cena.

The Cenation Leader has only four dates left in his retirement tour before he hangs his boots for good. With his legendary career being so close to the end, many of his peers have been giving the former face of WWE his flowers.

During his recent appearance on Z100 Radio, Tony Khan was also asked what he thought about the 17-time World Champion. The AEW President had high praise for the 48-year-old, explaining that he is an absolute legend:

“John Cenaâ€s absolutely a legendary pro wrestler who came into the space and became a huge star very quickly on television because he has so much charisma and heâ€s one of the hardest working people as far as I know in pro wrestling.”

One of The All Time Greats: Tony Khan

Tony Khan mentioned that everyone who has worked with John Cena has nothing but good things to say about him. The wrestling executive revealed that he’s never met the Peacemaker star in person and AEW’s partnership with DC is probably as close as they’ll ever get:

“I think that heâ€s absolutely fantastic in the ring and he seems fantastic out of the ring. Certainly on screen, one of the all-time greats, and he came into the wrestling business after many of the top stars were either getting ready to retire or entering the final phase of their career and he really stepped up as one of the biggest wrestling stars of all time and even though Iâ€ve never met him or talked to him, I have a ton of respect for him.â€

John Cena will be making his final PPV appearance as an active performer at Survivor Series on November 29, which will be followed by his retirement match at the December 13 Saturday Night’s Main Event.

Tommy Dreamer talking

WWE Hall of Fame season is approaching, with Stephanie McMahon already announced, and Tommy Dreamer believes that TNA and WWE legend Mickie James also deserves an induction in the future.

James will be inducted into the TNA Hall of Fame this year, alongside two other women who left a major impression on the TNA Knockouts division — The Beautiful People duo of Angelina Love and Velvet Sky. Dreamer discussed about the trio on the “Gabby AF” podcast and highlighted their importance to TNA.

“All three women are crucial for the growth of TNA. The Beautiful People also started at Bound for Glory, which is really, really cool,” said Dreamer.

While discussing James, Dreamer joked that he’s glad TNA beat WWE in inducting her into the Hall of Fame, as he believes she will eventually enter the WWE Hall of Fame as well. He further commended all three women and reflected on how much the honor meant to each of them.

“And listen, Mickie coming to TNA was a massive acquisition for TNA at that time. She’s had some amazing moments in both WWE and TNA. And she’d be a Hall of Famer in WWE, so hey, we beat them to it,” he said. “Her moment was awesome, even though she yelled at me. But seeing that natural expression of pure happiness and joy, I know what it’s like for all three women to have their body of work recognized. It felt like all three of them had a chip on their shoulder, wanting that recognition. And the fact that TNA was able to provide them with that, I thought it was very, very special.”

Many of James’ peers have advocated for her entry into the WWE Hall of Fame, which includes one of her past rivals, Trish Stratus Â

Besides competing in the WWE ring, Drew McIntyre is also making waves in Hollywood. Kevin Nash believes a former WWE star is helping him make his mark in Hollywood.

McIntyre recently landed a role in the upcoming Highlander reboot. McIntyre will star alongside Henry Cavill, who plays the role of Connor McLeod. McIntyre will portray his brother, Angus MacLeod.

During a recent conversation on Kliq This, Kevin Nash spoke about McIntyre and his forthcoming role in the Highlander movie. Nash responded to a fanâ€s comment about being unhappy with McIntyreâ€s position in WWE and how the movie allowed him to take a break from TV. Nash mentioned the reunion of Batista and McIntyre in the film and noted that this isnâ€t a coincidence. This is why he believes that Batista could be helping Drew McIntyre get more opportunities and action in Hollywood.

“Thatâ€s the second film that him and Batista have been together in. So I think Daveâ€s helping Drew get some action,†Nash said (H/T: WrestlingInc).

Prior to the Highlander reboot, Batista and Drew McIntyre shared the screen in 2024â€s The Killerâ€s Game. As far as his WWE career goes, Drew McIntyre last competed at last monthâ€s Wrestlepalooza event, where he unsuccessfully challenged Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship. Since then, he started a feud with Jacob Fatu on WWE SmackDown.

John Cena is focused on the present.

At WWE Elimination Chamber, John Cena shocked fans when he turned heel and attacked Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes. What started as an exciting new creative path, however, eventually turned sour due to a glaring absence from Dwayne “The Rock†Johnson at WrestleMania 41 and a variety of other factors.

While appearing at Fan Expo Chicago, Cena was asked how he would approach his heel run differently had he known that The Rock, who involved himself in Cenaâ€s initial turn at Elimination Chamber, would remain on the sidelines afterward.

“What Iâ€m hearing is in a hypothetical universe, what different choices would you make? I will answer that with hindsight is a waste of time,†Cena said. “Letâ€s live right here and now in the excitement and adventure. We got 11 dates left. I think Iâ€ll be able to talk about all this bupkus in January after the whole thing is over. But weâ€ve taken the audience on a on a hell of a ride this year. We still got a ways left to go, so Iâ€m excited about that.â€

John Cena knows his heel run failed too

The fan initially set up the question by saying Cena expressed his frustration with that stretch during a promo he did on WWE SmackDown. This came during his SummerSlam feud with Cody Rhodes, which fans thought signaled him turning babyface again. Cena noted that he wasnâ€t upset by the crowdâ€s reaction to it, though he did feel the heel run was unsuccessful.

“I wasnâ€t upset. I just know I failed,†he said. “Ainâ€t nothing wrong with that. You can learn from failure, right? I went out there and bombed. Sh*t happens, guys.â€

The 17-time world champion eventually returned to his babyface form on the August 1 episode of SmackDown, two days before his Undisputed WWE Championship rematch against Rhodes at WWE SummerSlam. As of this writing, Cena has five dates left on his retirement tour, one of which will pit him against AJ Styles at WWE Crown Jewel.

Rory McIlroy was a key character at Bethpage Black last week, not only because he’s Europe’s best player and a recent Grand Slam winner, but because he was also the primary target of American fans’ relentless heckling.

McIlroy and his wife, Erica, received constant — sometimes vulgar — badgering from U.S. fans at the Ryder Cup, and McIlroy’s matches required extra uniformed security. A few times he had to step off shots, and in a handful of cases he snapped back at the hecklers.

At times, it was an ugly scene.

Late Sunday night, after Europe held off the Americans’ Sunday charge and won the Ryder Cup, McIlroy was asked if that kind of fan behavior was taking the game in a dangerous direction.

“I think golf should be held to a higher standard than what was seen out there this week,” he said. “Golf has the ability to you unite people. Golf teaches you very good life lessons. It teaches you etiquette. It teaches you how to play by the rules. It teaches you how to respect people. … It was a rough week for all of us. But at the same time, we shut them up by our performance and how we played. I chirped back a few times because it got to me a few times, but we tried to handle everything that came our way with class and poise, and for the most part, I felt like we did that.”

One former U.S. Ryder Cup captain, however, wasn’t a fan of McIlroy’s response.

Speaking on GOLF’s Subpar podcast at the conclusion of the Ryder Cup Sunday, Paul Azinger, who led the U.S. team to a Ryder Cup win at Valhalla in 2008, said McIlroy can’t have it both ways.

Azinger started by complimenting McIlroy for his role in rallying his team. He said when McIlroy said two years that winning a road Ryder Cup is one of the hardest things to do in golf, that essentially took pressure off his fellow players, which allowed them to arrive at Bethpage relaxed and with nothing to lose.

“I give Rory credit for that,” Azinger said, “but now I want to take a shot at Rory, who I love.”

Azinger said McIlroy “probably turned down $500 million” to join LIV Golf and has been a staunch PGA Tour loyalist, but he didn’t appreciate his thoughts on decorum given some of his own actions.

“In the press conference after it’s over, he is saying that I think golf should be held to a higher standard of decorum, but in the meantime he says ‘F you, F you, F you’ in full voice for the world to see,” said Azinger, referring to one particular McIlroy celebration on one of the greens. “He turns around and says to the guy, ‘Shut the F up.’ The guy in the media asks him, How did that feel Rory, to tell him to shut up and then hit it to two feet? And he said, ‘It felt pretty f’ing good.’

“And I’m like, which is it, Rory? Is it that golf is held to a higher standard or are you just going to F you the fans and act that like that’s OK? So I love Rory, but you can’t say that. You can’t say the fans need to behave better and then in the meantime lay them to waste. You can’t do both. You’ve got to be one or the other.”

In the hours since the Ryder Cup concluded, much has been said and written about fan behavior and the response to it. But Azinger said no one should be surprised.

“Didn’t the PGA of America know when they came here what was going to happen?” he said. “Of course, we all knew. We’ve all been talking about it for 10 years, that this crowd could go crazy. Hey if the beers weren’t $16 a piece, it could have been worse.”

The Americans were blown out the first two days, as Europe grabbed a commanding 11.5-4.5 lead and — after the teams split a half point due to Viktor Hovland’s WD — needed just two points Sunday to retain the Cup. But the Americans fought back in Sunday singles and lost just 15-13. Europe was the first time to win on the road in more than a decade.

“I don’t know what happened in Europe’s team room but they almost let it get away,” Azinger said. “But they did the slaughtering the first two days. That was a tough pill to swallow. There was a time when I thought it was just going to be the most devastating defeat and the PGA of America was going to have to restructure everything. And it turned out not to be that way at all. It was actually a bit of a nail-biter.”

Bandido goes viral.

Though an unlikely pairing, Bandido and Brody King have already found success as they now reign as the AEW Tag Team Champions, with their first title defense officially in the books. Elsewhere, Bandido has gone viral for his surprised reaction to an old photo of King. During a recent interview withWrestleZone, Bandido shared his response to the virality.

“Itâ€s crazy how the crowd loves the Brodido stuff, itâ€s amazing,†Bandido said. “For Brody and me too, itâ€s step by step. Every week for this past month, when we start to do matches together, the people start to say, ‘Hey, Brodido is good. Brodido is awesome,†and then say probably Brodido can win the belts and now we are the champions. Thatâ€s fantastic for us.’â€

When asked if fans would be similarly shocked to see his appearance from his rookie year in wrestling, Bandido admitted that they likely would be. “Yeah, they will be very surprised because in that time I was very skinny guy, more than now,†he said. “Also I used like a normal lucha mask. I was a very different gimmick than this.â€

Bandido Assesses His ROH World Title Prospects

In addition to holding the AEW Tag Team Championships, Bandido also reigns as the Ring of Honor World Champion, having defeated Chris Jericho for the title back at AEW Dynasty. So far, the masked star has successfully defended the title against Hechicero, Mascara Dorada, Konosuke Takeshita, and others. When WZ suggested that he defend his title against Shane Taylor, a former ROH World TV Champion, Bandido appeared open to the possibility.

“You got reason [to make that suggestion] and youâ€re right, because Shane Taylor was with me in the first Ring of Honor,†he said. Also, we got a shot against him for the TV title and I lost. So probably I can get him a shot, and maybe now show the people how that works.â€
