Bobby Lashley, MVP, and Shelton Benjamin head down the ramp to the ring before their match at AEW All Out.

AEW/Lee South

One of the most popular stables in AEW originally started in WWE, and the trio has found a lot success in Tony Khan’s company since reuniting in October 2024 following their WWE departures. The Hurt Business-turned Hurt Syndicate featuring MVP, Bobby Lashley, and Shelton Benjamin have been dominating AEW, and Khan has spoken glowingly about the brains behind the operation, MVP, calling him an outstanding mind in professional wrestling. It’s something MVP called humbling and flattering in a recent interview with Jimmy V3, where he also spoke about being the mind behind getting the Hurt Syndicate in AEW.

“I told Bobby when we were still at WWE, I was the one that said, ‘Let’s not re-sign,’ because Shelton had been released,” MVP explained. “I said, ‘Don’t re-sign. I’m not going to re-sign. Let’s get together, get Shelton and go to AEW.’ It took a little convincing and Bobby came on board and Tony has been gracious enough to let us get the band back together and continue. Because we felt like we had unfinished business. We felt like we had been disbanded too soon, and most fans felt that way, and Tony gave us an opportunity to get the band back together and to continue to contribute and have fun.”

MVP said the proof is there when the fans start singing the Hurt Syndicate’s theme song when they walk out. He said that Khan has been a pleasure to work for and that he, Benjamin, and Lashley are grateful to him.

AEW star and leader of The Hurt Business, MVP, has responded to a recent report from Fightful Select, which stated that there have been discussions within the company about adding a new, younger member to the faction. The report sparked speculation among fans about who could potentially join the dominant trio of MVP, Bobby Lashley, and Shelton Benjamin.

The group has been a major force in All Elite Wrestling, and the idea of them adding a new member to their ranks is an intriguing prospect for future storylines. Speaking on the “TMZâ€s Inside The Ring” podcast, MVP addressed the report, confirming that the group has always been open to the idea of expansion, though he downplayed the notion that any definitive discussions have happened recently.

“Of course itâ€s possible. Itâ€s always possible. We have said for a long time thatâ€d weâ€d be interested in adding a fourth member, a younger member, kinda like how Cedric was. I donâ€t know currently what his status currently is.â€

He then revealed that their discussions in the past have not been limited to just adding another male superstar.

“I know somebody reported recently that ‘there are talks about adding a fourth member to the Hurt Syndicate.†News to me. I guess what is misleading about that ‘news†is that weâ€re always interested in potentially adding a new member. In the past, weâ€ve had talks about adding a woman to the group. With professional wrestling, like everything in life, it comes down to timing. Itâ€s all timing. Is it the right person at the right time to what the bigger picture is? There hasnâ€t been any definitive discussion recently where, ‘Okay, letâ€s call a meeting.†Itâ€s always a conversation that weâ€re open to. There are some people that we like, like yeah man, he or she would be pretty cool. It all comes down to timing and thatâ€s life as well as the nature of the business.â€

The Hurt Syndicate lost a trios match at the AEW All Out pay-per-view against the team of Ricochet and The Gates of Agony.
