A new stipulation has been added for Saturdayâ€s WWE Championship match.

During SmackDown, Drew McIntyre assured Nick Aldis that everything was fine ahead of the Saturday Night’s Main Event contract signing in the main event. However, when the time came to sign, McIntyre refused. He stated that it was lopsided against him, pointing out in their last match that Rhodes was able to walk away with the title after a disqualification. Rhodes said if he wanted the rules changed so he could lose the title via DQ or count out, that was fine. Aldis warned Rhodes against doing this, but Rhodes insisted, wanting the title match to move forward.

After the two traded some more words, Rhodes finished his promo by saying nice guys finished last until he showed up. McIntyre refused to let Rhodes have the last word, bringing up Rhodes†daughters. That caused Rhodes to go on the attack, aiming to strike McIntyre with the WWE title. McIntyre dodged and exited the ring as Aldis warned Rhodes doing something like that would cost him the title tomorrow. The distraction left an opening long enough for McItnyre to re-enter the ring and lay out Rhodes with the claymore. After a powerbomb through the table, McIntyre told Rhodes heâ€d be leaving with the title tomorrow.

Several weeks ago, McIntyre was set to wrestle Jacob Fatu in a number one contenderâ€s match when Fatu was seen reeling from a backstage attack. McIntyre denied that he had anything to do with it. Rhodes came out and told McIntyre if he wanted a title match, he would give one to him. The two brawled for a while before the match officially began. However, it soon ended  when Rhodes used the WWE title to attack McIntyre, causing a disqualification.

  • WWE Championship, title can change hands by DQ or count out: Cody Rhodes defends against Drew McIntyre
  • WWE Womenâ€s Championship: Tiffany Stratton defends against Jade Cargill

Drew McIntyre leans over Cody Rhodes in the ring

WWE

Cody Rhodes will be at further risk of losing his Undisputed WWE Championship to Drew McIntyre at this weekend’s Saturday Night’s Main Event, after a new stipulation was added during the contract signing in the main event of “WWE SmackDown.”

McIntyre has been pursuing Rhodes, and more specifically the title he is holding, for the past few months after sidelining him with an attack following his title victory at SummerSlam.Â

He failed in his initial shot at the title at Wrestlepalooza, and Jacob Fatu was mysteriously attacked backstage ahead of a number one contendership bout between them, clearing the field for him to get his second opportunity; Rhodes didn’t take well to the idea that McIntyre had attacked Fatu for a short cut, so rushed into making a title bout between them on the night. But that wound up coming to an end via disqualification when Rhodes struck McIntyre across the face with the title belt.Â

Thus, their full rematch for the title was made for this Saturday, and they were due to sign the contract for that bout during “SmackDown.” Rhodes signed the contract in an attempt to get it out of the way, but McIntyre said that he would not agree to the terms stipulated. He said that he wanted a guarantee that he could not be robbed of the title in the event of another indecisive finish, goading Rhodes into accepting that if he was to get disqualified or counted out in the incumbent match, then he will lose the title.Â

Things are heating up fast on the blue brand, and WWE might be gearing up to raise the stakes even higher for next weekâ€s SmackDown.

During the October 10 episode of SmackDown at RAC Arena in Perth, Drew McIntyre ambushed Jacob Fatu backstage, triggering a major response. SmackDown General Manager Adam Pearce wasnâ€t having it and quickly made the match official for the October 17 episode in San Jose, California.

But now it sounds like this showdown could mean even more than just bragging rights. According to Dave Meltzer in the October 10 edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, thereâ€s more to this match than meets the eye.

“Drew McIntyre vs. Jacob Fatu is listed as a match where the winner would get a shot at Cody Rhodes for the world title.â€

While WWE hasnâ€t officially added that stipulation to the match yet, itâ€s very possible an announcement could come before next week. With Survivor Series on the horizon and Cody Rhodes set to defend his title, WWE could use this match to determine his next challenger.

McIntyre has been on a warpath lately, while Fatu has proven himself as an unstoppable force since arriving on SmackDown. Adding a world title opportunity to the mix would make this already explosive match a potential game-changer.

SmackDown has no off-season, and this could be the next chapter in shaping WWEâ€s main event picture as we head toward Crown Jewel and Survivor Series.

A new, violent stipulation has been added to the highly personal grudge match between Roman Reigns and “Big” Bronson Reed for this Saturday’s WWE Crown Jewel. On the October 6 episode of Monday Night Raw, it was announced that the two powerhouse superstars will now face each in an Australian Street Fight. The announcement was made during an opening segment that saw the two rivals come face-to-face for the first time since their encounter at Clash in Paris, and it ended with a wild brawl that had to be broken up by security.

The show kicked off with Roman Reigns addressing the WWE Universe, but he was quickly interrupted by Bronson Reed and his advocate, Paul Heyman. Heyman taunted Reigns, reminding him that after their match at Clash in Paris, Reigns was stretchered out of the arena for the first time in his career. Reed then took the microphone and invoked the names of Reigns’s legendary father, Sika, and his uncles, questioning how they would feel about his moment of vulnerability.

The personal insults enraged “The Tribal Chief,” who challenged Reed to a fight right then and there. Paul Heyman stepped in and declared that the match would happen on Reed’s terms, in his home country of Australia, and that it would be an Australian Street Fight. Reigns immediately accepted the challenge, leading to a brawl between the two men that spilled all over the ringside area before officials could separate them.
