Andrade made his big AEW return on the October 1 episode of Dynamite, but fans looking forward to seeing him at WrestleDream are going to be disappointed. His status for the pay-per-view has now been confirmed, and it rules him out completely.
World Wrestling Council announced on Instagram that Andrade will be heading to Puerto Rico on October 18 to challenge Xavant, known as the Nationâ€s Hero, for the WWC Universal Championship. The bout is set to headline WWCâ€s Halloween Wrestling Xtravaganza at the PepÃn Cestero Arena in Bayamón, a venue celebrated as the cathedral of Puerto Rican wrestling.
“Official, for the WWC Universal Championship: Direct from AEW, The Idol, Andrade, challenges the Nationâ€s Hero, Xavant. WWC presents Halloween Wrestling Xtravaganza, Saturday October 18th at 8:00pm in the cathedral of Puerto Rican wrestling, the PepÃn Cestero de Bayamón.â€
The problem is that October 18 is the same night AEW WrestleDream is taking place. With both shows running in the evening, Andrade wonâ€t be able to appear on AEWâ€s card.
While his absence from WrestleDream is a letdown for AEW fans, the WWC title match is a major spotlight for Puerto Rican wrestling. Andradeâ€s challenge against Xavant has already been billed as a marquee showdown, and a win could only boost his momentum for when he returns to AEW.
Do you think Andrade made the right call focusing on the WWC title match instead of WrestleDream? Should AEW have pushed harder to keep him on their show? Share your thoughts in the comments and let us know how you see this playing out.

While the likes of Jazmyn Nyx, Santos Escobar, Scarlett, and Karrion Kross have all left WWE in recent weeks, another talent is reportedly staying with the promotion.
According to Fightful Select, decorated tag team champion Xavier Woods has inked a multi-year deal with WWE, though the action of him signing it is said to have come very close to the expiration of his previous contract. Woods’ preceding WWE deal was reportedly set to end sometime in September 2025, with his new contract also being finalized in the same month. As of now, there is no word on the current contract status of his New Day comrade Kofi Kingston.
Woods, also a former King of the Ring winner, last wrestled in a dark tag match alongside Kingston following the October 3 episode of “WWE SmackDown.” Prior to that, he competed in a no disqualification six-man tag team bout on the September 22 edition of “WWE Raw.” Penta and the War Raiders emerged victorious after the former laid out Grayson Waller with an avalanche Mexican Destroyer.Â
Woods joined WWE in 2010 following a three-year run in TNA Wrestling. Across the last 15 years, he’s enjoyed multiple tag team reigns alongside Kingston and Big E, though the latter has since been banished from The New Day.Â
Along with Woods, Fightful recently reported that former NXT North American Champion Bronson Reed had re-signed to WWE under a multi-year deal. This deal was said to be inked “quite a long time ago.” Reed is scheduled to battle “The OTC” Roman Reigns in an Australian Street Fight at WWE Crown Jewel this Saturday.Â

MILWAUKEE — Milwaukee Brewers centerfielder Jackson Chourio’s status for Game 2 of the NLDS against the Chicago Cubs on Monday is uncertain after an MRI on his right hamstring came back inconclusive, according to manager Pat Murphy.
Chourio, 21, left Game 1 on Saturday after legging out an infield hit in the bottom of the second inning. It’s the same hamstring he injured in July — also while playing against the Cubs — putting his immediate playing future in doubt.
“I can’t give you a definitive, but I know that we’re going to test some things today,” Murphy said on Sunday afternoon. “He’s going to be out there today. I don’t know that he’ll do much, but the MRI came back and it’s inconclusive and it’s not a serious hamstring strain, but it’s not necessarily something that won’t limit him.”
Chourio was 3 for 3 in the game before leaving. Murphy indicated rookie Isaac Collins would likely take Chourio’s place in the lineup if the latter player can’t go.

The Brewers manager also announced lefty Aaron Ashby will start Game 2 for his team, though he probably won’t last long after throwing 1â…“ innings on Saturday. He’s likely opening the game to help neutralize Cubs leadoff man Michael Busch — also a lefty — who homered to start Game 1.
“He could go as long as we want him to,” Murphy said of Ashby.
Righty Quinn Priester is likely the bulk innings guy for the Brewers after Ashby, but Murphy stopped short of declaring his plans. The Cubs are countering with lefty Shota Imanaga, who pitched in Game 2 of the wild-card round against the San Diego Padres.
“He’s a competitor,” Cubs manager Craig Counsell said. “And I think he’s a thinking-man’s competitor, and he also pitches with a lot of joy on the mound, while competing at a really high level.”
Imanaga has a 5.73 ERA in four career games against the Brewers, including three starts this season.
“I think all the hitters, they understand what they need to do, and I think that’s the Brewers’ offense,” Imanaga said of his struggles against Milwaukee. “Even yesterday, just the next guy was up, the next guy was ready. So I think, for me, it’s just making sure, take it one out at a time, and then thinking about that one out.”
Murphy was asked about facing the second-year Cub who features a rising fastball and a sinking splitter.
“His heater plays way up,” Murphy said. “If it says 91, the hitter sees it as 95 to 96.”
Milwaukee won Game 1 in a route, 9-3.
Jordynne Grace was furious after being left out of next weekâ€s NXT vs. TNA Showdown show, which is why Ava has now officially confirmed Grace will have a very special role on the show.
Ava took to Twitter and confirmed that Jordynne Grace will serve as the special guest referee for the Womenâ€s Survivor Series match on Tuesday, admitting that Grace played a key role in making the NXT–TNA crossover possible.
“Jordynne, youâ€re right — you made some good points. I donâ€t think there would be this NXT–TNA crossover without you. So, Iâ€ve decided that youâ€re going to be the special guest referee for the Womenâ€s Survivor Series match on Tuesday.â€
The NXT ShowDown event will take on the October 7th edition of NXT and the womenâ€s Survivor Series style match is one of the most anticipated bouts on the card. The NXT side features Jacy Jayne, Jaida Parker, Sol Ruca, and Lola Vice, while Team TNA comprises Kelani Jordan, Jessie McKay, Cassie Lee, and Mara Sadè.
Jordynne Grace joining as the special guest referee brings more excitement and star power to the NXT vs. TNA ShowDown. Her presence might even affect the result in a big way, so weâ€ll just have to see if the Juggernaut will call it down the middle in the end.
What do you think about Avaâ€s decision to make Jordynne Grace the special guest referee? Do you think Grace will call the match down the middle — or side with her TNA peers? Share your thoughts and predictions in the comments below!
Tommy Dreamer says Ash By Eleganceâ€s current status isnâ€t a joking matter.
The former TNA Knockouts Champion announced that she had to step away from in-ring competition at TNA Victory Road. As a result, she had to vacate the Knockouts Championship, but she did not give a specific reason why she couldnâ€t compete.
This naturally led to speculation about her status, and Tommy Dreamer attempted to clarify the situation while respecting her privacy. Dreamer, who works in TNAâ€s talent relations and creative departments, said that Ashâ€s injury is not a work, and urged fans to stop speculating about it.
“She is no longer physically able to compete, per her statement and thatâ€s it,†Dreamer said on Busted Open Radio (h/t Wrestling Inc). “Thereâ€s HIPAA laws involved and stuff like that. People shouldnâ€t speculate. If itâ€s a work, youâ€re not going to hand in your title.â€
‘Card subject to change†is a real thing
Dreamer went on to compare it to Seth Rollins†worked injury, but said this isnâ€t the same thing.
“It sucks for her, because it was like she just hit the high of highs with her career, and it was off to the races,†Dreamer continued. “It was going to be the winner of her match faced Indi [Hartwell] to defend the title at [Bound for Glory] and everything has to change. ‘Card subject to change†is a real thing.â€
Despite the unexpected pivot, Dreamer praised new Knockouts Champion Kelani Jordan for her amazing performance.
This weekâ€s Injury Report on Thursdayâ€s episode of IMPACT featured a small update, noting Ash has an undisclosed injury. TNAâ€s Tom Hannifan also said her “medical details are being kept private at this time.â€

Nigel McGuinness has been part of the AEW family for the past few years now. While he started off as a commentator, he occasionally wrestles as well and now heâ€s clarified his current AEW contractual status.
While speaking on the Wombreezy Wrestling Podcast, Nigel McGuinness was asked about his contractual status with AEW and whether his commentary work and his recent in-ring appearances are covered by separate contracts.
McGuinness clarified his AEW contract situation, explaining that both his commentary role and his recent in-ring appearances are covered under the same deal. His manager and agent handle the details while he simply signs off on it.
When AEW decided to use him for matches again, the company added an amendment to the existing contract to account for his in-ring work, but it all remains part of one agreement.
“Um, no. I think itâ€s all under the same thing. My manager and agent sort of handle all that side of things—I just sign along the dotted line. We did re-up when it became clear I was going to be getting in the ring again. Just sort of like an amendment to it, but essentially, itâ€s the same contract, I believe.
Nigel McGuinness explained that his AEW commentary work and recent in-ring appearances fall under the same contract, with only a small amendment added once he started wrestling again.â€
Nigel McGuinness†contractual situation shows that AEW is flexible with contracts, especially for veterans who can do more than one job. Since his deal covers both commentary and wrestling, McGuinness is a useful part of AEW who can add value in different roles and fans wouldnâ€t have it any other way.

Buddy Matthews wrestled Kazuchika Okada at AEW Grand Slam: Australia, but he injured his ankle during his entrance before the match even started. Heâ€s been out of action since then and now his current in-ring return status has been revealed.
According to Sean Ross Sapp on the Fightful Select Q&A, Buddy Matthews isnâ€t expected to return to the AEW ring anytime soon. Sapp said Matthews will likely be out of action until at least the end of the year.
This comes after Buddy Matthews previously admitted that his ankle still wasnâ€t healing properly and that a chronic condition was a looming risk. Thatâ€s exactly why he decided to undergo surgery last month and is currently on the road to recovery.
Buddy Matthews is focusing on his long-term health instead of rushing back. Even though fans will have to wait longer to see him wrestle in AEW, taking time to fully recover should help him stay strong and perform well for years to come.
Since itâ€s unlikely fans will see Buddy Matthews back this year, weâ€ll have to wait and see when he can finally come back. With AEW returning to Australia in February 2026, perhaps that would be the ideal place for his return.
How do you think AEW should book Buddy Matthews once he returns to in-ring action? Share your thoughts and predictions in the comments below!

MILWAUKEE — After missing the Reds’ last six games with back spasms, left fielder Austin Hays appeared nearly ready to return.
“Iâ€m feeling really good the last two days,” Hays said Sunday morning.
Ahead of Game 162 vs. the Brewers, Hays was hitting off a velocity machine and doing running and throwing. If he still felt good, he could be an option off the bench for manager Terry Francona.
“Yesterday I hit during the game,” Hays said. “I felt good to take an at-bat if I needed to. Iâ€ll do the same thing again today.â€
“Iâ€m feeling really confident because of the last two days,” Hays said. “Three days ago, I was a little skeptical because we had a little bit of a setback. Yesterday, running and throwing was really good, and then I was able to swing [and] do my full normal routine at a normal effort level.â€
Hays, 30, is batting .301/.323/.505 with five home runs and 15 RBIs in his last 25 games since Aug. 23. Overall, he entered the day batting .266/.316/.454 with 15 homers and 64 RBIs in 102 games. His season has included three stints on the injured list this season with three different injuries.
With this injury, Hays appreciated the Reds holding off on putting him back on the IL.
“It means a lot,” Hays said. “I know if they placed me on the IL, I would have been ineligible to play in that first playoff series. Just getting a chance these last five days to just do everything possible trying to get it turned around, to get me to be available in that first round of the playoffs.â€
Shinsuke Nakamura is stepping back into the ring for the first time in months, and heâ€s doing it on his home turf.
WWE has announced that Nakamura will compete at both nights of the upcoming Supershow events at Tokyoâ€s RyÅgoku Sumo Hall on October 17 and 18, 2025.
This marks Nakamuraâ€s first match since his early exit from the King of the Ring tournament in June, where he lost in the opening round. Since then, heâ€s been off WWE programming, but his return has now been confirmed as a centerpiece of the companyâ€s Japan tour.
On the first night, Nakamura will team with Jey Uso to take on the powerhouse duo of Bronson Reed and Bron Breakker. The following night, heâ€ll link up with Uso again—this time alongside CM Punk—in a six-man tag match against Seth Rollins, Bron Breakker, and Bronson Reed.
The two-night event is part of WWEâ€s continued push to feature more international stars in key roles, and Nakamuraâ€s return in Tokyo is a major moment for both the performer and the Japanese fanbase. After months on the sidelines, the King of Strong Style is finally back in action—and heâ€s doing it in front of a crowd that helped define his legacy.
Alongside Nakamuraâ€s matches, both shows feature championship clashes and high-profile bouts involving top stars like CM Punk, Giulia, Rhea Ripley, and Seth Rollins. But Nakamuraâ€s return stands out as one of the most meaningful parts of this tour, signaling a potential new chapter in his WWE run. Hereâ€s the current lineup for both nights of WWE Supershow Japan:
October 17, 2025 – RyÅgoku Sumo Hall, Tokyo
- Seth Rollins vs. CM Punk for the World Heavyweight Championship
- Giulia vs. IYO SKY vs. Rhea Ripley for the Womenâ€s U.S. Championship
- Shinsuke Nakamura & Jey Uso vs. Bron Breakker & Bronson Reed
October 18, 2025 – RyÅgoku Sumo Hall, Tokyo
- Giulia vs. Kairi Sane (with Asuka)
- Rhea Ripley & IYO SKY vs. Roxanne Perez & Raquel Rodriguez
- CM Punk, Shinsuke Nakamura & Jey Uso vs. Seth Rollins, Bron Breakker & Bronson Reed
With WWEâ€s return to Japan featuring a major homecoming for Nakamura, fans will be watching closely to see if this marks the beginning of a renewed push for one of the companyâ€s most iconic Japanese superstars.
Are you ready to see Nakamura back in the ring? What should WWE do with him next after this Tokyo run? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.

Jacob Fatu hasnâ€t been seen on WWE programming in quite some time.
Back at SummerSlam in the beginning of August, Jacob Fatu failed to defeat Solo Sikoa in a steel cage match to recapture the United States Championship. Several weeks later, Fatu would appear in the closing moments of the August 29 episode of SmackDown in the United States Title match between Sikoa and Sami Zayn, helping Zayn capture the title by evening the odds at ringside.
Despite that seemingly being Fatuâ€s big return to TV following SummerSlam, the Samoan Werewolf hasnâ€t been seen since. So whatâ€s going on with Fatu and WWE?
According to Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Jacob Fatu will be back on WWE programming imminently. This means we could see him as early as tonight on SmackDown.
Fightfulâ€s Sean Ross Sapp (via Fightful Select) seemingly backed up this report. Adding that he was told that Fatu was never expected to miss much time.
Perhaps the bigger story that has yet to be revealed is why heâ€s missed so much time in the past two months to begin with.
Stay tuned to WrestleZone for more information as it becomes available.
