Tommy Fleetwood held off Japan’s Keita Nakajima to secure a two-shot victory in the DP World India Championship – and celebrated an eighth DP Tour win with son Frankie on the 18th green.
Fleetwood, who had ended his long wait for a first PGA Tour title at the Tour Championship to claim the FedEx Cup in August, produced a superb seven-under final round of 65 to finish at 22-under in Delhi.
Nakajima had been two strokes ahead going into Sunday, but could only manage three birdies as he signed for a 69. He ended two ahead of a three-man group of Ireland’s Shane Lowry, England’s Alex Fitzpatrick and the South African Thriston Lawrence, who also made 65 – which included an eagle on the 14th.
New Zealand’s Daniel Hillier had looked to also be in contention after going into the turn six-under for the day – only for a double-bogey seven on the par-five 14th to scupper his chances, with more dropped shots at the next and then again on 18. The Masters champion, Rory McIlroy, placed in a tie for 26th at 11 under, finishing with a final round of 71, which had two bogeys on the front nine and another at the 14th.
Fleetwood, who rattled off four successive birdies from the seventh, was happy to get another long overdue individual tournament victory under his belt – and make the most of a special family moment.
“I had said for all the good that has happened this year, a couple of things have disappointed me, that my DP World Tour sort of has, so another win feels great,†the Southport golfer said in an interview on the DP Tour website.

“We were at home last week and we were driving the buggy. I think we were playing golf together, and he (Frankie) just said randomly: ‘Do you know what you’ve never done?’ He said: ‘You’ve never won a tournament and I’ve been able to run on to the 18th green’. I was like: ‘I’m writing that down’, so I had that written down all week.
“It was just another opportunity really, there is going to be many more times where I hopefully get the chance to do that. But all day today, I had in my mind could I put myself in a position where I can actually make that moment happen?
“It is just one of those little things, it means a lot to me. It means so much to me. That was really cool, that is what I wanted to do all day.â€
Pat Murphy’s son answers reporter’s questions at NLCS
\n\n”,”providerName”:”Twitter”,”providerUrl”:” note from the heart** \nPat Murphy figures his players have heard his voice so much by now, it was better to put his thoughts in writing as they try to make a comeback from a 2-0 deficit in the best-of-seven NLCS.\n\nThe Milwaukee Journal Sentinel noticed a note from the 66-year-old Brewers skipper at players†lockers at Dodger Stadium for Wednesdayâ€s workout ahead of Game 3. It was a message of encouragement for a team facing long odds, historically speaking, and a reminder that the Brewers have been bucking expectations all year long.\n\n“Did you read it?†Murphy asked the reporter, Curt Hogg, who had noticed the note. “Well, if you read it, it’s encouraging and it’s from the heart. It’s like, you speak to them and sometimes your words, your voice, they’ve heard it so much for the last nine months.\n\n“Sometimes it’s better to not use your voice and just jot down a little something simple that they can read in 30 seconds. Yeah, it’s from the heart. It’s like, ‘Hey, greatness is formed from stuff like this.†This is more of an opportunity than anybody knows. If I was to tell this group after our 0-4 start with the worst run differential in baseball history, if I was to tell them, ‘Hey, you’re four games from the World Series,†you’d take it.\n\n“Whatever that mountain is, we’ll take it. Now let’s get to work. Whatever has happened in the past has happened in the past. Let’s roll. Kareena Kapoor, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma (X) Kareena Kapoor recently opened up about her son Taimur Ali Khan on Soha Ali Khan’s podcast, sharing a glimpse into what the little star enjoys these days. Contrary to what one might expect from a child growing up in a family of actors, Taimur isnâ€t drawn to films or acting. Instead, he loves sports and cooking, hobbies inspired by watching his father, Saif Ali Khan, in the kitchen or on the playground.Click here to watch the video Taimurâ€s curiosity about sports stars is particularly clear. Kareena shared, “The only thing he keeps asking is, ‘Are you friendly with Rohit Sharma? Are you friendly with Virat Kohli? Can you message and ask him if I can get that bat of his? Is there a contact you have for Lionel Messi?’ Iâ€m like, ‘No! I donâ€t know them!’ He isnâ€t even interested in music; heâ€s just interested in some Chelsea player right now.†The little cricket fan can soon see his idols in action. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli return to Indiaâ€s ODI squad for the series in Australia starting October 19. Both have retired from Tests and T20Is to focus fully on 50-over cricket. Virat, Indiaâ€s second-highest ODI run-scorer, has 14,181 runs in 302 matches, including 51 centuries and 74 fifties. This year, he has scored 275 runs in seven ODIs, including a century and two fifties. Rohit, Indiaâ€s fourth-highest run-getter in ODIs, has 11,168 runs in 273 matches with 32 centuries and 58 fifties. In eight ODIs this year, he has amassed 302 runs with a century and fifty, showing he remains in fine form.
Darby Allin believes Sting’s son has what it takes to succeed in the ring.
The younger Steven Borden made his official wrestling debut earlier this month, teaming with JD Drake against Allin & Killer Kross in a tag team match. The bout was held at an art gallery in New York City as part of an event Allin was putting on.
While appearing on The Ariel Helwani Show today, Allin said he’s been working as Borden’s main coach getting him ready to step into the ring. He’s been training Borden for a little over a year and believes his debut went well.
“He had his first match last week. I wrestled him in a tag team match. It was good,” Allin said. “For his first match, yeah, it was good.”
Though he wasn’t previously interested in pursuing a career in wrestling, Borden decided he wanted to start training after being involved with his father’s last match. Because Sting gave him so much, Allin was more than happy to help out his son.
Helwani asked Allin how far he believes Borden can go in wrestling.
“As far as he wants to take it — as far as he wants to take it,” Allin responded.
Allin said Borden is just going by his real name as of now. He’s not wearing face paint but physically looks like his father.
Borden was a football player at the University of Kentucky when he was in college.
The final match of Sting’s in-ring career took place at AEW Revolution in March 2024, when he and Allin defeated The Young Bucks. Allin told Helwani that his experience working with Sting showed him how to be humble and that you can have peace after wrestling.
“Outside of the ring, I feel like he forgets he’s Sting half the time,” Allin said. “Someone that was in his position, you wouldn’t even think that he’s Sting because he’s so chill and he’s so giving to everybody. So it taught me to really keep a level head on and just be humble and nice to everybody.”

AEW
At its core, professional wrestling is a family business in that some of the biggest stars the industry has ever seen have been born into it. Now, another second generation star is making their way into the business in the form of Steven Borden Jr., the son of “The Icon” Sting. Steven Jr. made his in-ring debut on October 3 at an Awesome Championship Wrestling event at the 52Walker art gallery in Manhattan, New York, teaming with JD Drake of The Workhorsemen to take on former WWE Superstar Killer Kross and his trainer, current AEW star and close friend Darby Allin.
In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer touched on Steven Jr’s debut, and while he didn’t get to see the full match, Meltzer stated that Steven Jr. not only looked like a very good athlete for someone working their very first match, but even went as far as saying that he looked better than his father did at the same age. However, Meltzer did note that Steven Jr. has been training under the guidance of Darby for well over a year, while Sting made his in-ring debut just a few months after he began training as we wanted to make money as quickly as possible.
AEW fans have already become familiar with both of Sting’s sons thanks to “The Icon’s” retirement match at AEW Revolution 2024 where Steven Jr. and his older brother Garrett both got involved in their dad’s final match. Both men dressed as previous versions of their dad, with Garrett dressing as “Surfer Sting” while Steven Jr. donned the red and black attire of “Wolfpac Sting.” The Borden boys impressed a number of people with their performances at the event, so much so that AEW broadcaster Renee Paquette joked about giving Steven Jr. an AEW contract based solely on how much hang time he got performing his dad’s trademark Stinger Splash.
It remains to be seen whether Tiger Woods will be able to take the course for the Hero World Championship or the PNC Championship with his son, Charlie, after he announced on Saturday that he underwent back surgery on Friday.
“The scans determined that I had a collapsed disc in L4/5, disc fragments and a compromised spinal canal,” Woods said in a social media post. “I opted to have my disc replaced yesterday, and I already know I made a good decisions for my health and my back.”
Doug Ferguson of the Associated Press reported it was the golfing legend’s seventh back surgery overall and second surgery of the year after he underwent surgery in March for a ruptured left Achilles tendon.
Woods, 49, hasn’t played professionally since the PNC Championship last year, and this year’s Hero World Championship and PNC Championship are both in December. That would be a quick turnaround after yet another back surgery, the first of which came in 2014.
He also underwent a lower-back fusion in 2017 and has played just 15 times in the last four years following a serious car crash in February 2021 that “shattered his right leg and ankle,” per Ferguson.
Four of those 15 events in the last four years came at the PNC Championship, where he is permitted to use a cart for the 36-hole tournament.
Woods is arguably the greatest golfer in the sport’s history with 15 major titles and 82 career PGA Tour wins. Only Jack Nicklaus (18) has won more majors, and Woods captured the attention of the entire sports world during his peak.
Injuries have largely prevented him from adding to his incredible resume of late, although his triumph at the 2019 Masters after his back fusion was one of the most memorable moments of his career.
Woods did not provide any specific details about a recovery timeline with his latest surgery announcement, although the procedure was considered a success.
», a confié Chalamet.

Raja Jackson pleaded not guilty to a count of felony battery that caused serious bodily injury and a count of misdemeanor battery after slamming wrestler Stuart Smith (Syko Stu) to the mat during a KnokX event in Los Angeles in August, per ESPN’s Brett Okamoto.
Jackson, the son of former MMA fighter Quinton “Rampage” Jackson, had to be restrained by several other wrestlers after he continued punching a clearly unconscious Smith. He was arrested and bail was set at $50,000.
Per Okamoto, “In a livestream prior to going on, Jackson said he intended to get his revenge on Smith for a brief altercation between the two earlier that day. Smith had hit Jackson with a beer can in an apparent altercation to promote the event.”
Smith said he suffered a head injury, various injuries to his jaw, lost teeth and had a laceration on his lip.
Rampage Jackson condemned his son’s actions on social media in August:
“I thought it was a part of the show,” he wrote at the time. “It was bad judgement, and a work that went wrong. Raja is a MMA fighter not a pro wrestler and had no business involved in an event like this. I don’t condone my son’s actions AT ALL! He suffered a concussion from sparring only days ago and had no business doing anything remotely close to physical contact.”
The Los Angeles District Attorney’s office is seeking a sentence of up to seven years.
A WWE Hall of Famer’s son has made his pro wrestling debut against AEW’s Darby Allin and Karrion Kross.
Darby Allin is one of the most charismatic stars in the wrestling industry at this time. The star has created some scintillating milestones for himself, including climbing Mount Everest and setting himself on fire while inside a body bag. On the other side, Karrion Kross is one of the most over stars in the industry, with his immense fame going beyond his WWE days. Kross has now transitioned into the independent scene full-time and has been lighting it on fire with his performances.
Now, both Kross and Allin teamed up to take on the son of WWE Hall of Famer Sting. The Icon’s son, Steve Borden, made his pro wrestling debut.

Stingâ€s retirement inspired his son to chase the dream of becoming a pro wrestler
Back in May 2024, Darby Allin revealed that Stingâ€s son, Steven Borden, was training with him to become a professional wrestler.
Borden has been taking his training seriously over the past year, training alongside other top AEW stars, Adam Copeland, Dax Harwood, and Cash Wheeler.
Copeland spoke highly of Borden last year, believing he could make it in wrestling if he put his mind to it.
With his debut under his belt, you would have to believe itâ€s only a matter of time until Borden is under contract with All Elite Wrestling to continue the legacy his father built over several decades in the industry.
Stay tuned to WrestleZone for more information on whatâ€s next for Steven Borden as it becomes available.
