Our WWE SmackDown results for tonight include Sami Zaynâ€s United States Open Challenge, Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes returns to address his Crown Jewel defeat, Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss defend the WWE Womenâ€s Tag Team Championship against NXTâ€s Zaria and the Womenâ€s Speed and NXT Womenâ€s North American Champion, Sol Ruca, and Drew McIntyre battles Jacob Fatu. Hereâ€s our review and grades for tonightâ€s show, live from the SAP Center in San Jose, California.

WWE SmackDown Card:

  • Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes Returns
  • WWE Womenâ€s Tag Team Championship Match: Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss (c) vs. Zaria and Sol Ruca
  • Drew McIntyre vs. Jacob Fatu

WWE SmackDown Results:

As the show kicks off, SmackDown GM Nick Aldis is in the ring. Aldis announces that the winner of the Drew McIntyre vs. Jacob Fatu match is now a number one contenderâ€s match. That match will be against this man. Aldis points to the stage, and Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes‘ music hits.

The Champion Returns

The crowd sings for Rhodes as he stands in the ring and takes it all in. Rhodes notes that Seth Rollins beat him for the Crown Jewel Championship. After all of this, Rhodes doesnâ€t think he ever needs to be in the ring with Rollins ever again. Rhodes knows it doesnâ€t work like that, but Rollins has the Brons and an Oracle to deal with. While Rollins deals with that, Rhodes is going to handle his business. Will it be McIntyre or will it be Fatu? The battle at Saturday Nightâ€s Main Event runs through San Jose!

Grade: B

Solid and quick promo. Itâ€s always best when these things donâ€t run too long. Itâ€s interesting that we got so many reports today that the main event would be changed to Rhodes vs. McIntyre due to Fatu being injured. So far, it seems that was a crock of you know what. Letâ€s see how it plays out.

Backstage, Solo Sikoa has his MFTs beat up Rey Fenix.

NXTâ€s Blake Monroe is in the crowd to watch the next match.

WWE Womenâ€s Tag Team Championship Match: Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss (c) vs. Zaria and Sol Ruca

WWE is just a few hours away from presenting SmackDown with fallout from Crown Jewel. WWE’s Creative Writing Team spent the afternoon finalizing blockbuster plans for tonight’s show, and now sources have revealed more on what’s in store.

SmackDown will also feature more on the road to Saturday Night’s Main Event and Survivor Series: WarGames. It was previously announced that Cody Rhodes will open the show. The Undisputed Champion is set to speak after his Crown Jewel main event loss to Seth Rollins. It was also announced that Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss will defend the Women’s Tag Team Championship against Zaria and Sol Ruca.

Jacob Fatu was previously announced to face Drew McIntyre on tonight’s SmackDown. However, the match is up in the air due to a report on Fatu suffering from a non-wrestling injury that could keep him on the shelf well into 2026, but that was not confirmed, and WWE has continued to advertise the first-time-ever match. While not confirmed either, sources earlier revealed plans for a major return and title match on SmackDown with Ilja Dragunov challenging Sami Zayn for the United States Championship.

Match And Segment Order For Tonight’s WWE SmackDown

WWE officials have finalized the lineup for tonight’s live SmackDown from the SAP Center in San Jose, California. PWInsider reports that a segment with Aleister Black and Zelina Vega is planned for early in the broadcast as a major follow-up to last week’s on-screen pairing. The real-life married couple is set for a push on the blue brand.

The only match that has not been mentioned before is Los Garza vs. The Motor City Machine Guns, scheduled to air before the main event. Unless some sort of injury angle is planned to write Fatu out of the storylines, or if plans change at the last minute, current plans as of this writing call for his match with McIntyre to be tonight’s main event.

The lineup is subject to change, but the following match and segment order has been decided on for tonight’s SmackDown:

  • Cody Rhodes opens SmackDown with in-ring promo
  • Women’s Tag Team Champions Alexa Bliss and Charlotte Flair defend against Zaria and Sol Ruca
  • Segment with Zelina Vega and Aleister Black
  • Segment with Nick Aldis and Sami Zayn
  • Ilja Dragunov returns to challenge Sami Zayn for the WWE United States Championship in an Open Challenge
  • The Motor City Machine Guns vs. Los Garza
  • Jacob Fatu vs. Drew McIntyre

WWE has reportedly made a major change to this weekâ€s SmackDown main event.

    Possible spoilers follow…

    spoiler alert

According to PWInsider, the company has scrapped the originally planned match between Drew McIntyre and Jacob Fatu. Instead, Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes will face McIntyre in a rematch from WrestlePalooza.

“Jacob Fatu will no longer be competing on tonightâ€s edition of Friday Night Smackdown, PWInsider.com can confirm. Fatu is at tonightâ€s taping.

“WWE will be going with WWE Champion Cody Rhodes vs. Drew McIntyre as the new main event of the broadcast, a WrestlePalooza rematch. The decision was made minutes ago.â€

Rhodes was initially scheduled to open SmackDown in San Jose, while McIntyre vs. Fatu was set to close the show. Drew even insisted in the lead-up to the show that the match would go ahead as planned.

Bodyslam.net previously reported that Fatu has been dealing with a non-wrestling-related injury that could sideline him for an extended period.

It remains unconfirmed whether the Cody Rhodes vs. Drew McIntyre rematch will be for the Undisputed WWE Championship. WWE has not officially announced the updated lineup on social media at the time of this writing. If confirmed, the card will feature Rhodes vs. McIntyre and the WWE Womenâ€s Tag Team Championship match between ZARUCA and the team of Alexa Bliss & Charlotte Flair.

Despite the report that he will not compete, Fatu is still promoting the match with McIntyre.

WrestleZone will have live coverage of WWE SmackDown later this evening.

Drew McIntyre is adamant heâ€ll wrestle an injured superstar on WWE SmackDown this week.

The Scottish Warrior is scheduled to face Jacob Fatu in singles action later tonight. WWE is still advertising the match on its website despite reports that Fatu is dealing with a non-wrestling-related injury and could be out of action for an extended period of time.

The official match promo states that Fatu and McIntyre “have been engaged in a volatile rivalry, and the aggressive Superstars will finally collide one-on-one†on the upcoming edition of the blue brand in San Jose.

In a video message ahead of the match, Drew McIntyre declared that “the match is going to happen†because Fatu “stepped into my business a few weeks ago, and it had nothing to do with you… This is a guaranteed war. This is a match nobody should miss. Itâ€s a match I have to win.â€

Jacob Fatu returned to WWE SmackDown a few weeks ago. The Samoan Werewolf interrupted Drew McIntyre while he was cutting a promo on Cody Rhodes, igniting their feud.

    WWE SmackDown Card

Tonightâ€s episode of SmackDown will take place at San Joseâ€s SAP Center in California. Hereâ€s the card at the time of this writing:

    • Cody Rhodes to kick off SmackDown
    • Drew McIntyre vs. Jacob Fatu
    • Alexa Bliss & Charlotte Flair (c) vs. ZARIA & Sol Ruca – WWE Womenâ€s Tag Team Championship

WWE is still promoting Jacob Fatu vs. Drew McIntyre for tonightâ€s SmackDown — but thereâ€s a major catch. Despite Fatu reportedly dealing with a serious non-wrestling-related injury that could keep him out well into 2026, WWE fired off a tweet at 5 PM ET today hyping the match like nothingâ€s wrong.

The official WWE account posted: “.@jacobfatu_wwe and @DMcIntyreWWE collide TONIGHT on #SmackDown in San Jose!â€

The post included a promotional graphic and confirmed the match is set for 8ET/7CT on @USA Network. But thatâ€s where things get confusing.

According to BodySlam.net, Fatu is currently dealing with a private health issue unrelated to in-ring activity, and multiple sources have said the situation is serious enough that he might not return until sometime next year. This follows speculation after BodySlamâ€s CodyWhodes tweeted a cryptic GIF of Fatu alongside the words: “The bug strikes another.â€

While WWE is still promoting the match, itâ€s believed thereâ€s a strong chance the bout either wonâ€t happen — or will be used to write Fatu off TV. WWE has not issued any public statement addressing his condition, leaving fans to wonder what the real plan is for tonightâ€s show.

Fatu recently returned to WWE television on September 26 and immediately became a major presence, setting up this collision with Drew McIntyre during a wild brawl on the October 10 episode. That momentum might now come to a screeching halt if the injury report is accurate.

Do you think WWE is swerving fans with the Jacob Fatu vs. Drew McIntyre match? Or will they use tonightâ€s SmackDown to officially write him off? Drop your theories in the comments and let us know what youâ€re expecting.

A popular SmackDown superstar expressed interest in being managed by WWE Hall of Famer, Paul Heyman.

The 60-year old legend has led some of the top names in the industry to the promise land in World Wrestling Entertainment. His notable clients in the Stamford-based promotion are Brock Lesnar, Big Show, Kurt Angle, Rob Van Dam, CM Punk, Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins.

Today, Heyman is guiding Bronson Reed and Bron Breakker to be main event players. Last Monday on RAW, they collectively kicked out Rollins in The Vision and declared that “the future is now.”

However, it seems that some WWE superstars wants a piece of The Oracle’s wisdom and one of them is none other than Damian Priest from Friday Night SmackDown. Speaking with the Kairouz Bros,The Archer of Infamy noted Heyman’s history of betraying people but still welcomed the idea of being managed by the Hall of Famer.

The former World Heavyweight Champion added that he was also guilty of stabbing people in the back for career advancement.

“Yes, he has his ways about him, but Iâ€m a Paul Heyman guy. I have no problem with him advocating for me. Thatâ€s part of this business (backstabbing), everybody does that. Iâ€ve been guilty of that too. You canâ€t deny what he can do for your career,” Priest disclosed. (H/T Sportskeeda.)

Last week on SmackDown in Perth, Western Australia, Priest lost to Aleister Black in a last man standing match after the latter threw a fireball in his face, thanks to Zelina Vega’s interference.

More WWE Superstars Want to be A Paul Heyman Guy

In the same interview, Sami Zayn and The Street Profits (Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford) also admitted they want Paul Heyman to be their “advocate” as well.

Ford emphasized Heyman’s ability to lead wrestlers to championship victories. He added that being a main event player is a WWE superstar’s ultimate dream and only Heyman can provide it.

Meanwhile, Zayn stated that he’s not ruling out a prospect of being managed by the “Oracle.” The current United States Champion pointed out that the latter’s relationships are transactional.

It can be remembered that The Underdog from the Underground was once affiliated by Heyman in The Bloodline. However, the former “Wiseman” expressed his disgust on the then-Master Strategist being around Roman Reigns and The Usos (Jimmy and Jey).

Throughout the last two weeks, viewership for professional wrestling has significantly decreased after Nielsen introduced its new “Big Data + Panel” model, which aims to deliver more accurate information for cable and broadcast ratings going forward. Last week, “SmackDown” was heavily affected by the change, as the show drew one of its lowest viewership figures in history outside of a few pre-empted episodes that were televised on FS1. Therefore, with this past Friday’s show streaming internationally on Netflix before broadcasting on the USA Network due to WWE being in Perth, Australia, it was expected that the blue brand might reach an even lower number with many viewers knowing results ahead of time online. Luckily for WWE, “SmackDown” didn’t fall beneath the 1 million viewer threshold, but failed to improve its numbers following last week’s disappointing totals.

According to Wrestlenomics and Programming Insider, “SmackDown” averaged 1,025,000 viewers and posted an 0.22 rating in the key 18-49 demographic. When comparing both categories to the week prior, total viewership was nearly identical, while the 18-49 demo slightly decreased by 4%. Additionally, “SmackDown’s” numbers have continued to drop over the past year since moving to the USA Network, with total viewership declining by 31% and the 18-49 demo being down by a whopping 51% since October 2024. Despite being affected by Nielsen’s new system and airing earlier in the day internationally, “SmackDown” still managed to rank fifth on the night in the key demographic on cable.

“SmackDown” also faced stiff competition on Friday night, with the historic 15-inning MLB American League Division Series game between the Detroit Tigers and the Seattle Mariners pulling in 8 million viewers, and the WNBA Finals ranking second on cable in the 18-49 demo. Moving forward, it remains to be seen if the “Big Data + Panel” measurement continues to negatively affect “SmackDown,” or if viewership will slowly improve with Survivor Series on the horizon.

The October 10, 2025 episode of WWE Friday Night SmackDown had plenty of things going for it and that included Shinsuke Nakamura finally making his return to WWE television. However, the show still saw a decrease in viewership.

According to Programming InsiderWWE SmackDown averaged 1.024 million viewers on USA Network, down marginally from the 1.030 million viewers recorded on October 3, 2025. In the key P18–49 demographic, the show scored a 0.22 rating, a slight decrease from last weekâ€s 0.23.

This weekâ€s episode of Friday Night SmackDown featured a lot of memorable moments and that included Shinsuke Nakamura returning to accept Sami Zaynâ€s US Title Open Challenge.

Solo Sikoa stepped into the ring on the October 10 edition of WWE SmackDown to face an unexpected challenger.

After The Wyatt Sicks retained their WWE Tag Team Championship against The Street Profits, Nikki Cross marched down the ramp alone. She confronted Solo Sikoa in Perth, standing toe-to-toe with the Samoan powerhouse as MFT members looked on from ringside. The silence was thick until Sikoa slipped away, leaving fans buzzing over what this cryptic stare-down could mean for Crown Jewel 2025.

Throughout 2025, Sikoa has rebuilt the Bloodlineâ€s reputation on SmackDown. He added JC Mateo, Talla Tonga, and Tonga Loa to create his own formidable faction. The sudden appearance of Cross, acting on behalf of the absent Uncle Howdy, signaled a new chapter in Sikoa’s ongoing war with Wyatt Sicks.

The most intriguing twist comes from whispers that Sikoa may turn to a familiar face for reinforcements. Tamina Snuka, daughter of WWE Hall of Famer Jimmy ‘Superfly’ Snuka, has not wrestled on television since January 2023 but remains under contract with WWE despite her long absence. Fans recall her powerful runs with Natalya as Womenâ€s Tag Team Champion and her early days leading The Usos. Bringing back Tamina would not only shore up Sikoa’s forces but also reunite two generations of wrestling heritage inside the squared circle.

Solo Sikoa Might Recruit Tamina Snuka in MFT

Tamina Snukaâ€s name carries weight. She debuted in 2010 alongside The Usos and has held the Womenâ€s Tag Team Championship once. Though she hasnâ€t been on an active roster since mid-2024, reports confirm she is still signed to WWE and simply hasnâ€t been booked on recent shows.

A surprise Tamina return at SmackDown would deepen the Bloodline narrative, offering Sikoa a veteran ally against The Wyatt Sicks. Her explosive style and family legacy could tilt the balance in MFTâ€s favor as they look to finally topple their eerie rivals.

Fans will be watching the upcoming SmackDown episodes closely. If Sikoa does reach out to Tamina, it could mark one of the most memorable reunions in recent WWE memory and set the stage for a blockbuster tag match at Crown Jewel.

Real-life spouses Aleister Black and Zelina Vega aligned in WWE storylines on Friday’s SmackDown from Perth, Australia.

For the second time, The Street Profits have reverted to their best-known WWE theme music.

The duo of Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins entered to “Bring the Swag” for their Tag Team title match against The Wyatt Sicks on Friday’s SmackDown, the song the pairing originally used in NXT in 2017.

The Wyatts retained the Tag titles.
