There is no question that PGA Tour veteran Stephan Jaeger is an elite golfer. But in one moment on Thursday at the Sanderson Farms Championship, Jaeger looked more like your 20-handicap friend at a local muni.
That’s thanks to a mishit with his driver during Round 1 so bad that the TV broadcast called it “shocking.”
Stephan Jaeger hits 104-yard top at Sanderson Farms Championship
When he arrived at the par-4 17th hole in Thursday’s opening round, Jaeger had a sparkling bogey-free scorecard and a four-under score to show for it. The early lead at the Sanderson Farms Championship was in sight.
But then something happened that’s familiar to all recreational golfers but is wholly unfamiliar to Tour pros, especially Tour winners.

Jaeger lined up his tee shot, drew back his driver and unleashed his swing. But instead of making clean contact, the bottom of his driver smacked the top of the ball.
As the video review shows, Jaeger’s ball first hit the ground just after impact, then sailed forward just above the grass, eventually coming to rest 104 yards from the tee box.
It also appeared to come up short of at least one set of member tees at the Country Club of Jackson.
Check it out below.
Just after impact, either Jaeger, his playing partner or caddie can be heard saying, “You ever seen anything like that?”
“He’s topped it,” one TV analyst remarked. “Completely topped it.”
“He’s swinging this club at around 120 mph and just catches the top of that ball … shocking,” his partner in the booth replied.
Jaeger rockets up the leaderboard after embarrassing miss
Unfortunately for Jaeger, the 2024 Texas Children’s Houston Open winner, his top led to a bogey at 17, dropping his final score for the opening round to three under.
Still, that left him just four shots off the lead heading into Round 2, with one eye on his second-career victory. And in Friday’s round, Jaeger showed zero signs that the top had impacted him negatively.
Starting on the back nine, he made three birdies over his first five holes. At the site of his embarrassing shot from Thursday, the par-4 17th, he laced a 297-yard drive to the right fairway, ending with a par.
He sat three shots off the lead with several holes left to play in his second round.

A shocking TNA wrestler has teased going against John Cena.
The Leader of Cenation is nearing his retirement date. With only a handful of appearances left, his possible final few opponents still remain a mystery.
Recently, after multiple social media requests, WWE and Triple H officially announced Cena vs AJ Styles at Crown Jewel in Perth. However, his future after that remains unclear.
Recently, on the September 25th episode of iMpact, a fan in the front row brought along a poster which read, ‘Cena vs Joe Hendry‘. Former TNA World Champion Joe Hendry soon took notice of the poster and shared the image on his X(Twitter).
This soon sparked rumors among the fans about Hendry possibly squaring off against the 17-time World Champion once before the veteran hangs up his boots. The image started going viral on the web as many fans commented,
“@JohnCena we the wrestling universe request another match from you.”
“Calling out Cena?”
“YEEESSS WE NEED ITT”
“Say his name Cena.”
Intriguingly, Hendry also fought against Randy Orton at WrestleMania 41 as a surprise competitor, after Owens’ break from wrestling following a serious injury.
TNA Star Convinced His Company Will Be Number 2 And Rank Over AEW
Recently, in an interview with Lucha Libre Online, Santino Marella spoke about TNA’s massive growth in the last few years. Further, in the interview, Marella addressed how TNA Wrestling could rank as the number 2 wrestling promotion, even over AEW.
Yeah, itâ€s incredible. People from TNA in the past are happy for us, and the current locker room is ecstatic about the growth. When I came here, it was not like this. Sometimes we were in Nashville or even in Toronto with 350 to 500 people, but we believed in ourselves.
Now we have the audience size that feels right, and we deliver every time. Every time weâ€ve had a sold-out crowd, weâ€ve never had a bad show. Weâ€ve never wasted an opportunity, and Lowell, Massachusetts, Bound for Glory is going to be another one. Weâ€re going to capitalize on that audience. Weâ€re going to send the message out to the wrestling world: weâ€re here, weâ€re knocking on the door, and you better look out. Once we get that TV deal, weâ€re number two.
I know Tony Khan has lots of money, I get it. But the fans speak. The fans dictate whoâ€s number one, number two, or number three. not your bank account. Of course, WWE is number one. Theyâ€re so far ahead weâ€ll never catch them in my lifetime.
But number two is attainable. Number two is really something we can do, and if we accomplish that, itâ€s humongous.â€

The Florida Panthers played their third preseason game of the week on Wednesday night in North Carolina.
Florida faced the Carolina Hurricanes, who theyâ€ve defeated in two of the past three the Eastern Conference Finals.
Much like their previous trip to Nashville on Sunday, the Panthers did not bring any expected NHL regulars on the trip – other than expected backup goalie Daniil Tarasov – instead allowing their younger prospects and players fighting for roster spots to have another opportunity to show what they could do.
Carolina, meanwhile, dressed plenty of their NHL guys, including Sebastian Aho, Andrei Svechnikov, Nikolaj Ehlers, Seth Jarvis, Frederik Andersen and Shayne Gostisbehere.
Tarasov looked good in his first appearance in a Panthers sweater, playing the entire 60 minutes and stopping an eye-popping 47 shots, backstopping Florida to a stunning 4-2 win.
The only goals to get by him were on a great deflection by Carolina†Ryan Suzuki and off a quick turnover that led to a slot one-timer off the stick of Jesperi Kotkaniemi, both coming during the opening frame.
Considering the Panthers were outshot 19-2 during the first period, a 2-0 deficit didnâ€t seem that terrible.
Things didnâ€t get much better in terms of shot volume during the second period, but Tarasov stopped all 16 shots sent his way to keep Florida down by only two heading into the third.
Defenseman Ben Harpur, who got into a fight earlier in the game, got the Panthers on the board with a sneaky wrist shot from the right-side boards that got past the blocker of Amir Miftakhov just under four minutes into the final frame.
It wasnâ€t until late in the third when the preseason version of the Comeback Cats roared to life.
First it was Gregor scoring a gift of a goal after Miftakhov gave the puck away behind the net to Gracyn Sawchyn, who quickly fed Gregor in front of a wide-open net.
Just 1:16 later, Mike Benning fired a shot that went off the stick of Miftakhov, rolled up his arm and went just over the goal line to five the Panthers a stunning 3-2 lead.
Jack Studnicka added an empty-net goal to seal the victory for Florida.
Carolina outshot the Cats 49-16 in the game, but Florida played an excellent third period to shock the Hurricanes and head back home with a win.
The Panthers ended up going 4-for-4 on the penalty kill, including a lengthy 5-on-3 during the first period. Tarasov stopped all eight of the power play shots sent his way by Carolina.

Baltimore Ravens running back Derrick Henry said he was “at a loss for words” after his third fumble of the 2025 NFL season contributed to a 38-30 defeat to the Detroit Lions.
“It’s just crazy,” he told reporters. “Three fumbles [in three games] straight. I’m trying every day to fix the problem that just keeps occurring. I’m my worst critic, so I’m not going to try to beat myself up too much. But it’s hard not to when it’s consecutive and consistent [instances] of me doing the same thing.”
Henry also apologized to his teammates, coaches and Ravens fans:
The Ravens trailed the Lions by four points when the five-time Pro Bowler coughed the ball up on his own 21-yard line. Detroit secured the recovery, which set up a 45-yard field goal by Jake Bates to make it a 31-24 game with 6:35 on the clock.
A similar scene played out in Week 1. Henry fumbled in the fourth quarter as the Buffalo Bills were mounting a 15-point comeback en route to a 41-40 win. He was just as contrite on that occasion as well.
Monday’s result was down to more than the costly turnover.
Baltimore’s defense allowed 426 yards to the Lions. The backfield tandem of David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs combined for 218 yards and four touchdowns on the ground.
In the second quarter, the Ravens came away with zero points from a 1st-and-goal at the 3-yard line, and failing to score proved consequential in hindsight.
The offense also had an opportunity to tie the game after Bates’ field goal. A three-and-out put the ball back in the Lions’ hands and they pulled away with Montgomery’s 31-yard touchdown run.
It’s easy to zero in on Henry because he made such an obvious mistake. The Ravens coaches will have plenty to nitpick when they go over the game film.
