Pearce said that because of what Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed did to Seth Rollins last week, Rollins had to go through a major surgery and will be out of action for several months. As a result, Pearce announced that the World Heavyweight Championship is now vacant and tonight there will be a 30-man Number One Contendership Battle Royal. Seth Rollins†World Heavyweight Championship reign officially ended on the October 20, 2025 episode of WWE RAW—but what fans saw on-screen wasnâ€t the original plan.
The show opened live from the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, California, with General Manager Adam Pearce standing in the ring, ready to make a major announcement. But before he could speak, Bron Breakker appeared backstage holding the World Heavyweight Title, flanked by Bronson Reed and Paul Heyman. The trio made their way to the ring as Pearce finally confirmed what many had feared: Seth Rollins was injured and required surgery, forcing him to vacate the title.
Now, weâ€re learning that the segment didnâ€t unfold exactly how WWE had originally intended. According to WrestleVotes, there were significant last-minute changes made to the opening of RAW.
“A source backstage at #WWERaw in Sacramento tells me there were a lot of late changes to the opening segment where Adam Pearce stripped Seth Rollins of the World Heavyweight Championship. Original plans had things playing out differently than what we ultimately saw on screen.“
While itâ€s still unclear what the original version looked like, what aired showed Pearce reclaiming the title from Breakker—who had been flaunting it since he and Reed turned on Rollins one week prior. Paul Heyman tried to do damage control in the ring, cutting a promo to keep his clients looking strong as the new direction unfolded.
The unexpected shift is part of WWEâ€s fast pivot following Rollins†injury. Heâ€s expected to be out for an extended period—possibly through WrestleMania—which left the company scrambling to reset its main event scene.
Was the late change a smart move by WWE or just more chaos behind the curtain? Should they have handled Rollins†title loss differently? Drop your take in the comments and let us know what you think.

The World Heavyweight title is vacant.
On Raw, Adam Pearce told Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed that due to their actions last week, Seth Rollins has undergone ‘major surgery†and as a result, Rollins has been stripped of the World Heavyweight Championship. A new champion will be crowned at Saturday Nightâ€s Main Event on November 1 when CM Punk will face the winner of a battle royal taking place on Raw.

After the announcement, Pearce asked Breakker to give him the title belt. Breakker intimidated Pearce into asking nicely before handing it to Paul Heyman, who then handed it to Pearce.
Rollins was injured during his match against Cody Rhodes at WWE Crown Jewel last weekend, injuring his shoulder to the point it will require surgery. The following Monday on Raw, a shock angle took place where Breakker speared Rollins, telling Reed and Heyman that they were either with him or against him. Both quickly jumped ship, leaving Rollins laying.
Following Pearceâ€s announcement, Heyman hinted at Rollins†injury, saying that Rollins couldnâ€t shoulder the responsibility of leading The Vision into the future.

Women’s Intercontinental Champion Becky Lynch finally addressed the former Vision’s turn on her husband, former World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins, on WWE television. Lynch cornered Paul Heyman outside of Adam Pearce’s office following her DQ loss to Maxxine Dupri earlier on “WWE Raw” and told him that he would be sorry when Rollins returns.
Lynch told Heyman, who she called a “penguin-faced prick” to listen up and said his snake oil salesmen tactics wouldn’t work on her, because she has never trusted him or liked him. “The Man” said that her husband didn’t trust Heyman either. She said Rollins never needed him and he used Heyman. She told the WWE Hall of Famer that her husband knew that The Vision was going to turn on him and he was surprised it took them so long.
She told Heyman not to worry, because when Rollins gets back, he’s not going to hurt him, but Heyman is nothing without the former champion. She said whatever “new nepobaby” Heyman decides to attach himself to, Rollins is going to “kill them.” She explained he’s not going to kill Heyman, but he’s going to wish that Rollins had. Lynch shoved Heyman into the wall and walked away, with the manager looking stunned.
Due to his injury, Pearce stripped Rollins of the World Heavyweight Championship earlier in the night. Rollins was reportedly injured during his match against Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes at Crown Jewel, but in storyline, he was written off by Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed’s attack last week on “Raw.”

“WWE Raw” General Manager Adam Pearce opened Monday night’s show with the news that had been rumored throughout the day, Seth Rollins is no longer World Heavyweight Champion following the injury he sustained at Crown Jewel, and in storyline reasons, because of the attack by the former Vision last week.
After a video package of The Vision imploding on last week’s “Raw,” Pearce opened up the show in the ring. As he was speaking, a black SUV rolled up to the arena with Bronson Reed, Paul Heyman, and Bron Breakker, who was carrying the World Heavyweight Championship. The men walked out to the ring and Pearce said he was glad they were there to hear the news themselves.
Pearce said he knew Rollins was banged up from his match against Cody Rhodes at Crown Jewel, but said they’ll never know how badly because of what Breakker and Reed did last week. He said Rollins was at home after having major surgery and he had the unfortunate responsibility of announcing that as of right now, because of what Breakker and Reed did, Rollins was stripped of the title.
He explained that Punk had already earned the right to fight for the title with his victory over LA Knight and Jey Uso last Monday, and to figure out his challenger, they’d be doing things the “old school” way with an over-the-top battle royal Monday night. The winner will face Punk at Saturday Night’s Main Event and the winner of that match will take home the World Heavyweight Championship. Pearce asked Breakker to hand over the title, and after a bit of back-and-forth, Breakker handed the belt to Heyman to pass off to Pearce.

Nearly three weeks after signing him to a one-year deal, the Golden State Warriors have waived guard Seth Curry.
The 35-year-old journeyman, and brother of Stephen, isn’t expected to be gone too long from the Bay Area. According to ESPN’s Anthony Slater, there is an expectation that Curry will be back with the Warriors at some point early in the NBA season.

Curry was waived due to the Warriors’ lack of flexibility with their salary cap. They have $206.3 million committed to their roster, just below the second apron of $207.8 million and cannot fit Curry’s veteran minimum contract.

That means the 15th spot on the Golden State roster will be empty to start the season.
During the preseason, Curry practiced with the team and traveled with them on their only road trip, but he was inactive for games.
Curry spent the 2024-25 season with the Charlotte Hornets, where he averaged 6.5 points and 1.7 rebounds largely off the bench. He became a free agent at the end of the season. Should he end up back with the Warriors it would mark the fifth team that he’s played for in the past five seasons.

It would also mark the first time that the Curry brothers will be together on an NBA team. Stephen has been with the Warriors for his entire career after they took him with the No. 7 overall pick in 2009. The two-time MVP and two-time scoring champ been a centerpiece in their dynasty run that won four NBA championships. He averaged 24.5 points and six assists last season with the Warriors while averaging a league-high 4.4 made 3-pointers per game.
The Warriors went 48-34 last season and fell in the Western Conference semifinals for the second time in the past three seasons
Golden State opens the regular season Tuesday against the Los Angeles Lakers.
SAN FRANCISCO — The Golden State Warriors have waived guard Seth Curry with the expectation that he will return to the team at some point in the first couple of months.
The move was necessary because of the Warriors’ lack of financial flexibility in the new salary cap environment. They are hard-capped at the second apron and just below it, so they can’t afford to have an extra veteran minimum contract on their books until early November. Golden State’s 15th and final roster spot will remain vacant until the guard’s anticipated return.

Seth, Stephen Curry’s younger brother, has spent the past few weeks at the team’s facility and on its lone October road trip working out, but he has been deactivated for preseason games.
Seth Curry started his 11-year career with the franchise’s G League program in Santa Cruz but then purposefully ventured elsewhere — to 10 NBA teams — preferring to map his own professional path out of his brother’s shadow.
It has come with plenty of shooting success. The younger Curry brother has made 945 career 3s at a 43.3% clip, the seventh-highest percentage in league history.
This summer, Seth decided the timing was right to join Steph, who has long hoped to play with his brother on an NBA stage. It will be delayed, but a plan remains in place even after this procedural waiving.
This had always been the plan.
From the day the Warriors signed Seth Curry to play alongside his older brother Stephen Curry for the first time professionally, it was made clear that the Warriors were eventually going to cut and waive Curry, only to re-sign him a month or two later. That cut came on Saturday.
Team finances and the tax aprons drove this. The Warriors are hard-capped at the second apron (because they used the taxpayer mid-level exception to sign Al Horford). After agreeing to a new contract with Jonathan Kuminga, then soon after deals for Horford and Deâ€Anthony Melton, the Warriors were bumping up against that cap. One of Seth Curry or Gui Santos had to be waived to get under that hard cap to start the season, and Curry was always the guy going to get the time off (this was clearly communicated with everyone, including Stephen).
The Warriors can re-sign Seth Curry on Nov. 15, when they will have the space to sign a pro-rated minimum contract for the rest of the season. However, the Warriors may wait longer than that, maybe into December, just to give themselves more cushion against the tax apron line.
Seth, 35, shot 45.6% on 3-pointers last season on his way to averaging 6.5 points a game in Charlotte. His shooting and style of play mesh well with the Warriors once they re-sign him, in a month or two.

The Bron Breakker rocket to orbit and beyond is in place as WWE seeks emergency options in the wake of the Seth Rollins injury.Â
Look no further than Breakker’s rushed-feeling heel turn, spearing Rollins and taking the stable for his lonesome now that Rollins will miss a big chunk of time.Â
This wasn’t a typical WWE rushedfeeling, though. That word usage normally implies a negative atop the whole thing. This was rushedÂin a good way, with most fans likely more than happy to see this development happen so quickly.
This shocking spear out of the way, WWE can get to the good stuff by getting Breakker in the ring with one man:Â
Why not match the speed and lethality of each Breakker spear by keeping the pace of this booking? Why waste time on other feuds and risk ruining the momentum and rise of the next top WWE star by messing around with other stuff?
The mind simply wanders back to when WWE deployed Lesnar in a strategic way to boost Drew McIntyre to an unforgettable company-headlining act during the audience-less pandemic era. He sought out and crushed Lesnar at the Royal Rumble and kept that going for a long time and to this day remains a top dog.Â
WWE following almost that same exact blueprint for Breakker now wouldn’t exactly have fans complaining. Breakker gunning for him at the Royal Rumble and turning it into a ‘Mania feud that has a chance of main-eventing is about as no-brainer of an idea as it gets.Â
There’s also the Paul Heyman factor to help it along, especially if Rollins is out of the picture. One of the greatest managers of all time happens to be a snake known to throw out a betrayal or two while jumping ships. Who is to say that doesn’t happen here to especially get fans behind Breakker?
Heyman happens to be the best guy capable of squeaking out this proposed story for the longest stretch of time throughout the winter months, too. Getting stuck between these two and eventually picking a side would make for a fantastic “B” storyline behind the Bloodline stuff going into ‘Mania next year.Â
On the topic of Lesnar, it’s not like he’s got much else going on, anyway. WWE gave him that weird little squash match win over John Cena to, for whatever reason, really impress ESPN audiences during the company’s first PLE broadcast on that streaming platform.Â
Now, Lesnar should be strictly used to put over the next generation of stars. We’ve all seen in the past Cena talking about not wasting Lesnar’s Streak-ending win over Undertaker in subsequent feuds.Â
That logic applies here, too. Lesnar just crushed Cena in one of his final appearances ever. WWE can’t waste that by having him pick up more wins or pop up in a PLE-opener or whatever. The next match for the part-timer needs to be huge and, ideally, putting over Breakker big in front of a more casual ESPN-like audience at WrestleMania would be the perfect use of the rub from decimating Cena in one of the GOAT’s final matches.Â
Some of this just lines up all too well. If Rollins will indeed miss ‘Mania next year due to injury, it sort of backs Breakker and his stable into a corner, anyway.
WWE has a deep roster and there are plenty of ways they could go to compensate, but pivoting to a crowning arc for Breakker just makes too much sense. The fast rise via betraying Seth into dominating Lensar would make him bulletproof going into what top title he chases in the aftermath.Â
It’s a little easy to forget that Breakker is only 27 years old. At times over the past year, it almost seemed like WWE pumped the proverbial brakes with him a bit while letting him get some more reps.Â
But there’s something to be said for this break-glass-in-case-of-emergency scenario. WWE tends to do its best booking when shoved into a corner due to injury or otherwise, so there’s reason to believe that in-the-fire booking could produce something special on short notice here.Â
The main-event scene needs it, too. Rollins is out. CM Punk is, frankly, older. Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns feel closer and closer to part-time status while pursuing non-wrestling stuff. There are a swell of purgatory guys like LA Knight and Jey Uso, but they feel a tier below. Breakker feels near the top of that tier already and just needs a small boost.Â
Breakker-Lesnar has been one of those what if? Requested matches from fans, anyway. Given the circumstances, getting right to it by slowly building it up until ‘Mania next year is just too compelling an opportunity to pass up right now.
This isn’t what WWE originally had planned, no doubt. But Rollins exiting the stage opens up getting real, meaningful usage out of Lesnar while authoring a run for Breakker that can go down in modern pro wrestling history, if done well, which it should, given the presence of someone like Heyman to help it along.
