First came a three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka, where he scored 113 runs in three matches, including a fantastic 81 in the first game.

Then, in a three-T20I series against Namibia, Bennett scored a 95 and a 40, being named the Player of the Series. Then, finally, in the three matches of the 2026 T20 World Cup qualifiers, all of which Zimbabwe won, Brian scored 72, 65, and 11 against Uganda, Botswana, and Tanzania, respectively.

Second on the list is Abhishek Sharma, who was Indiaâ€s best player in the ACC Asia Cup 2025. The swashbuckling opener played seven matches in the competition, scoring six 30+ scores and three 50s. His 314 runs in seven games at a strike rate of 200 saw Sharma become the Player of the Tournament of the Asia Cup.

The last, but certainly not the least, player in the ICC Player of the Month menâ€s nominees list is Kuldeep Yadav, who too had an excellent Asia Cup 2025. The left-arm wrist-spinner took 17 wickets in seven games at an awesome average of 9.29. Kuldeep saved his best performance for the final, where he bowled a brilliant spell of 4/30 against Pakistan.

So, who will win the Menâ€s Player of the Month award for September 2025? While Brian Bennett had the most productive month, and Kuldeep was by far the best-performing bowler in the Asia Cup, Abhishek Yadav is by far the favourite to win this award. This is because he had what is being considered by many the best campaign for a batter in a T20 Asia Cup competition.

Who Will Be Womenâ€s Player Of The Month?

Now, letâ€s shift our attention to the womenâ€s award, and the competition is much tighter here. The first nominee here is star Indian batter Smriti Mandhana. Smriti had an excellent month of September, in which she played four official matches. First was a three-match ODI series against Australia. In the first match, she scored 58 runs, while in the second, she scored a ton and led the Indian Womenâ€s Cricket Team to a 102-run lead.

In the last match of the series, Smriti scored the second-fastest century in Womenâ€s ODIs, doing so in just 50 deliveries. Despite that, India failed to chase a mammoth target of 413. Then, finally, in the first match of the Womenâ€s World Cup 2025, she had her only underwhelming match of the month, scoring just eight runs. This means that in four matches in September, Smriti Mandhana scored 308 runs and made two centuries and a half-century.

The next two batters are quite connected in their nomination. Pakistanâ€s Sidra Ameen and South Africaâ€s Tazmin Brits played only three and two matches this month, respectively, all of which were against each otherâ€s teams. First, letâ€s discuss Ameen, who, in the three ODIs against the Proteas, scored 293 runs. In the first ODI, she made 121* in 150 balls in a losing effort, and then, in the second match, she made 122 off 110 in another loss.

Finally, in her third and final match of the series, Sidra scored 50* in a small chase to take her team to their only win in the series.

Meanwhile, in the same series, Tazmin Brits played only two games but scored a whopping 272 runs. In the first match of the series, she scored an unbeaten 101 and took her team to victory. Then, in the second match, the Brits†massive 171* took South Africa to a match and series win. And so, despite missing the third match, Tazmin was named the Player of the Series.

So, who will be named the ICC Womenâ€s Player of the Month for September 2025? First, as harsh as it is for not winning any Player of the Match awards this month, Sidra Ameen is the least favourite to win this award, despite averaging over 100 this month.

This means it comes down to Smriti Mandhana and Tazmin Brits. And practically, it’s a toss-up between the two. Both of them won the Player of the Match award once and were named the Player of the Series. And while Brits had a more impressive month statistically, Smriti too scored 300 runs in three matches, and that too against a powerhouse like Australia. So naturally, either of the two can win this award.

Easily one of the most interesting stories so far, Oklahoma rocketed in the rankings with Top 25 victories over Michigan and Auburn. Transfer QB John Mateer tremendously elevated the offense, and OU’s defense held all four opponents below 300 yards in September. Mateer’s hand surgery has thrown a wrench into the Sooners’ outlook, though his absence might end up being a strange blip on the radar if he manages to return in time to play Texas.

4. Ole Miss: Entertaining

Sitting at 5-0 overall with a 3-0 mark in SEC action, Ole Miss has positioned itself beautifully to finally make the College Football Playoff. But, whew, the Rebels have not made it easy on their supporters. Ole Miss beat Kentucky, Arkansas and LSU by seven, six and five points, respectively. Adding to the drama, backup QB Trinidad Chambliss has been one of the nation’s most fun players to watch.

That word is, ironically, the polar opposite of how Miami has played. Led by a physical offensive line and fierce defensive front, the Hurricanes are 4-0 with quality wins over Notre Dame, South Florida and Florida. That hot start combined with Clemson’s implosion has made Miami the ACC favorite as October begins.

Oregon won three nonconference games by 34-plus points and built a 34-0 lead before Northwestern scored twice deep into garbage time. With the stakes raised last weekend, the Ducks outlasted Penn State. Oregon has a chance to solidify itself as Ohio State’s top competition when Indiana comes to town in Week 7.

1. Ohio State: Workmanlike

Armed with a rock-solid defense, OSU has calmly ascended to 4-0. The unit limited Texas to seven points, shut down Grambling and Ohio as expected and held Washington to six. More will be required of Julian Sayin in the future, but the reliability of, well, everyone else has allowed the Buckeyes to control every game.

CLEVELAND — It wasnâ€t the “Guards Ball” weâ€ve grown accustomed to watching and marveling at, but maybe thatâ€s for the best.

On the brink of elimination against the Detroit Tigers in the AL wild-card series, the Cleveland Guardians†offense exploded for five runs in the bottom of the eighth inning Wednesday in Game 2, supplying all the scoring required for a 6-1 victory to force a winner-take-all Game 3 on Thursday.

All season, the Guardians have struggled in nearly every facet of production at the plate. Getting on base consistently has been a chore. Crooked numbers have been rare. Slugging has been a tall task. Instead, Cleveland leaned heavily on its standout pitching staff to fuel an unlikely surge up the standings and into the postseason. Its run production was timely but rarely bountiful. The Guardians found ways to manufacture just enough scoring to secure close victories, but it was fair to wonder whether such a style could survive once the October tournament began.

And while Tarik Skubalâ€s outright domination of Cleveland in Game 1 was more reflective of his brilliance than the Guardians†offensive ineptitude, it pushed the Guardians into a win-or-go-home scenario, with time running out for their bats to show up on the big stage. After all, you can get by on conveniently placed soft contact and aggressive baserunning for only so long. At some point, you need to hit some baseballs with authority and drive in runs the old-fashioned way.

In the bottom of the first inning Wednesday, rookie outfielder George Valera provided the first hint that Cleveland was ready to break through in this regard. The 24-year-old rookie with one of the sweetest left-handed swings youâ€ll ever see smashed a fastball from Tigers starter Casey Mize well beyond the center-field fence for a solo homer and a 1-0 Guardians lead.

But after Valeraâ€s opening blast raised the volume at Progressive Field tenfold, the Cleveland bats reverted into hibernation. Mize settled in before turning the ball over to Detroit relievers Tyler Holton and Kyle Finnegan, who continued to keep Cleveland in check. The Tigers, meanwhile, werenâ€t faring any better in the batterâ€s box. While Cleveland was barely mustering baserunners, Detroit created several chances, only to squander them, with Cleveland starter Tanner Bibee plus a brilliant showing from the bullpen stifling the Tigers over and over. The Tigers ultimately finished the day 1-for-15 with runners in scoring position, and the one such hit they did collect — a Javier Baez two-out single with the bases loaded in the fourth — preceded an inning-ending out when Zach McKinstry was thrown out at third.

So with the wind blowing in and the shadows creeping into place over Progressive Field to make the hitters†jobs on both sides even more daunting, the 1-1 stalemate looked to be the status quo for the foreseeable future, with extra innings beckoning.

Enter Brayan Rocchio — or, as heâ€s known this time of year in Cleveland, “Playoff Rocchio.â€

Itâ€s a moniker the switch-hitting infielder earned a year ago, when he recorded hits in his first eight postseason games, elevating his offensive performance after a regular season in which his .206 batting average and 79 wRC+ both ranked in the bottom 10 in MLB among hitters with at least 400 plate appearances. The Guardians were optimistic entering 2025 that Rocchio could carry that October momentum into a more steady showing at the plate, but roughly the opposite occurred: Rocchio hit .165/.235/.198 over his first 35 games and was optioned to Triple-A on May 12.

He resurfaced in early July and immediately looked more comfortable in his at-bats. The numbers were still fairly pedestrian on the surface, but the reset in the minors helped instill enough confidence for Rocchio to become a more reliable contributor at the bottom of the lineup, especially amidst Clevelandâ€s chase for a playoff spot. His signature moment came in the final game of the regular season, when he clobbered a walk-off home run against Texas to punctuate the Guardians†magical September run to an AL Central title. The blast also got fans excited about the possibility of Rocchio finding his groove as the calendar flipped to his favorite month.

Still, the substantial sample of lackluster production had Rocchio batting ninth on Wednesday. But with no other Guardians besides Valera managing to do much of anything with the bat, someone needed to step up to break the deadlock. And facing rookie right-hander Troy Melton with one out in the eighth inning, Playoff Rocchio struck again.

Melton started Rocchio off with a slider for a called strike one. Rocchio then fouled off a splitter to fall into an 0-2 hole. Melton reared back and unleashed a four-seam fastball at 99.9 mph. Rocchio was ready.

He connected cleanly, sending the ball on a picturesque trajectory toward the right-field seats. It landed three seconds later in a sea of red pandemonium. 2-1 Guardians.

“It was huge,†manager Stephen Vogt said postgame. “An 0-2 count, and he was ready to fire.â€

“Funny enough, when the game started, I was thinking, with this wind, we have to put the ball on the ground, try to get ground balls,†Rocchio said afterward through interpreter Agustin Rivero. “When I get that mindset to get the ball on the ground is when I get better and better results.â€

Added outfielder Steven Kwan: “We were waiting for the big hit. Playoff Rocc came up and did his thing.â€

The Guardians werenâ€t finished. With the crowd of nearly 30,000 fans still audibly ecstatic at the possibility that the offseason had been extended at least one more day, Kwan followed Rocchioâ€s homer with a line-drive double into the right-field corner. Daniel Schneemann smoked Troy Meltonâ€s next pitch to the same spot to score Kwan, marking a third consecutive extra-base hit after Cleveland had produced zero in the first 16 innings of this series.

Suddenly, hitting didnâ€t seem so hard.

After an intentional walk to José Ramírez and a pitching change, catcher Bo Naylor provided the exclamation point. Facing a tough southpaw in Brant Hurter, the lefty-hitting Naylor — who has historically scuffled to an extreme degree against same-handed hurlers — battled for seven pitches before lofting a sweeper over the right-field fence for a three-run homer, giving Cleveland a commanding 6-1 lead it would not relinquish.

“As our bullpen is keeping them off the board, we feel like we have a knack to do it late in the game,†Vogt said. “Whether we saw a five-run explosion coming or not, we felt like as our outs came off the board and their outs came off the board, we felt really good about it.

“Rocchio kind of broke the tension with the homer, and the boys let loose.â€

Detroit made it a dramatic finish, loading the bases in the ninth against closer Cade Smith, but the Tigers once again failed to cash in — a fitting finale to a game filled with missed opportunities.

And if the nature of Detroitâ€s Game 2 loss with the ALDS within reach wasn’t frustrating enough, the Tigers now have to suppress the bad memories from a year ago, when they were seven outs away from eliminating Cleveland in the ALDS before they blew a late lead in Game 4 and lost soundly in Game 5. The Guardians, meanwhile, have recaptured that winning feeling that defined their past month of play, perhaps just in time.

On Thursday, the Guards will give the ball to Slade Cecconi for Game 3, while the Tigers will counter with veteran Jack Flaherty. It will be Cecconiâ€s first career postseason start and Flahertyâ€s 10th, setting up an intriguing contrast for two pitchers tasked with the high stakes of a winner-take-all affair.

These reports from our major league correspondents contain a trove of player development updates and spotlight traditional reporting. Here are 10 updates I found to be especially enlightening from our September reports.

Top September Prospect Takeaways

1. The Yankees helped righthander Elmer Rodriguez-Cruz fine-tune his slider while equipping him with a sinker after they acquired him from the Red Sox in a December 2024 trade. Those changes helped key a breakthrough season in which the 22-year-old pitched at three levels. “He has that six-pitch mix, but he knows how to use it,†Somerset pitching coach Peter Larson said. “And I think thatâ€s the separator for such a young guy.â€

2. Rays righthander Brody Hopkinsmissed bats with the best Southern League starters this season, but his 12% walk rate for Montgomery was fifth-worst among Double-A pitchers with at least 100 innings. The Rays believe in his athleticism and competitiveness, while envisioning better days ahead as the 23-year-old sharpens his control. “He can really spin the baseball,†Rays assistant GM Kevin Ibach said. “But I think itâ€s just being able to get ahead with his fastball or the cutter. Strike one has always been what weâ€ve been preaching to him, and I think heâ€s done a good job throughout the year of really adapting to that mentality and really trying to get ahead of hitters.â€â€

3. White Sox 2024 second-round shortstop Caleb Bonemer didnâ€t face premium velocity in the Michigan prep ranks, so he sought out pitching machines that could bring the heat to prepare him for pro ball. The plan worked. Bonemer led all qualified Carolina League batters in OPS this season. “Heâ€s physical, really strong and simple out there,†White Sox director of hitting Ryan Fuller said. “Thatâ€s what I love about him. Itâ€s really good at-bats. He knows the strike zone. When he hits, thereâ€s a lot of authority behind it.â€

4. The Astros drafted outfielder Zach Cole in the 10th round in 2022 out of Ball State. He flashed power in the minor leagues that was undermined by a high strikeout rate. That began to change in the second half this year at Double-A Corpus Christi, when his power increased, his strikeouts decreased and he hit his way to a callup to Houston. “He changed his setup a bit, where his hands and bat started to allow him to be on time more consistently,†Astros farm director Jacob Buffasaid. “Itâ€s been tremendous … You could tell there was a lot of talent there, and a lot of unproven talent.â€

5. Angels outfielder Raudi Rodriguez entered the season as a third-year pro in a part-time role for Low-A Inland Empire. The 22-year-old ended it as the clubâ€s everyday center fielder and its most productive hitter down the stretch and into the California League playoffs. “He has been on the same trajectory all through the season,†Inland Empire manager Dave Stapleton said. “He went through a week or so where maybe heâ€s off, but thatâ€s more (full-season fatigue). He was able to gear back up.â€

6. Putting away his catcherâ€s gear after the 2023 season helped Rangers prospect Cody Freeman realize more offensive production. That culminated in a 19-homer season for Triple-A Round Rock this year that saw the infielder win the minor league batting title at .336 and receive a callup to Texas. The Rangers love the 24-year-oldâ€s energy level and versatility. “He is a catalyst,†outgoing Rangers manager Bruce Bochy said. “Heâ€s a spark for the club, the way he plays but also getting hits and finding a way to get on base.â€

7. Alex Clemmeyâ€s late flourish at Double-A Harrisburg has the Nationals optimistic that the 6-foot-6 lefthander might have figured out how to make critical adjustments to his delivery to command his arsenal. “He had to change his plan of attack,†Double-A Harrisburg pitching coach Rigo Beltran said. “He couldnâ€t pitch to the middle of the plate like he had when he dominated in A ball.â€

8. Low-A Rancho Cucamonga center fielder Eduardo Quintero has been a favorite of Dodgers player development because he makes every adjustment asked of him. The results were on full display this season as the 20-year-old led the California League in OPS on his way to High-A. “Heâ€s shown good bat-to-ball, pretty good decision-making, really young for the level,†Dodgers GM Brandon Gomes said. “Shows power when you need it. Can hit balls to all fields. Thereâ€s no one standout 80-grade tool. Itâ€s a bunch of really good components plus good makeup to bet on.â€

9. The Cardinals drafted West Virginia shortstop JJ Wetherholt with the seventh pick in the 2024 draft. A year later he had reached Triple-A and was knocking on the door to St. Louis. Wetherholt hit .300, produced power, took walks and stole bases. The speed was notable given that a hamstring injury limited him in his draft year. Still, Wetherholt hasn’t reached his full potential yet. “You can tell real quick if a player is going to slow the game down, and this dude—he wasnâ€t fazed by a whole lot,†Cardinals manager Oli Marmol said. “Those guys usually do OK.â€

10. Twins top prospect Walker Jenkins reached Double-A as a 20-year-old despite missing the first two months of the season with a high ankle sprain. He continued to hit and draw walks while getting to more power as his body and approach developed. Jenkins also proved himself defensively. “Heâ€s probably exceeded our expectations in center field,†Twins GM Jeremy Zollsaid. “His defensive instincts and his speed plays well out there.â€

According to Dave Meltzer, the September 24 edition of AEW Dynamite on TBS averaged 638,000 total viewers, marking a 4.5% decrease from the 668,000 viewers drawn on September 17, 2025.

In the key P18–49 demographic, Dynamite earned a 0.14 rating, holding steady from 0.14 the week before. These figures reflect linear television audiences only and exclude any streaming data from MAX.

AEW Dynamite September 24, 2025: Viewership and Highlights

This weekâ€s episode of AEW Dynamite saw Tony Khan and Renee Paquette introduce the AEW Womenâ€s Tag Team Championships and that a tournament to crown the inaugural champions will be announced soon.

AEW Dynamite is locked and loaded for tonightâ€s show in Pittsburgh, PA, and the full match lineup features championship defenses, top-tier talent, and a surprise partner teased for a major six-man tag match.

The AEW World Tag Team Championships will be on the line as Brodido (Brody King & Bandido) defend their titles against GOAâ€s Bishop Kaun & Toa Liona. Kris Statlander is also set to defend the AEW Womenâ€s World Championship in her first title defense against Mina Shirakawa. In singles competition, Powerhouse Hobbs will go one-on-one with Claudio Castagnoli, while Hangman Page takes on ROH Pure Champion Lee Moriarty in a non-title matchup.

WWE NXT is set to deliver a major go-home show tonight ahead of the No Mercy Premium Live Event, and now we know how the action will kick off. WWE has confirmed that the heated Lights Out match between Lexis King and Myles Borne will be the opening contest for the September 23, 2025 episode.

The announcement came on Tuesday afternoon, with WWE posting: “The Lights Out Match between @mylesborne_wwe and @LexisKingWWE will KICK OFF #WWENXT tonight!†This adds extra anticipation to what is already a packed card.

King and Borneâ€s rivalry has intensified over recent months, and tonight marks the fourth televised singles encounter between them. Borne holds two wins over King from the June 24 and August 5 editions of NXT, while King earned a victory in a Blindfold match on August 26. The feud extended to NXT live events last month, where the two traded wins in Blindfold matches.

Tonightâ€s show will be a pivotal one, with the following matches officially confirmed:

• Lights Out Match: Lexis King vs. Myles Borne (Opens the show)
• Winner-Takes-All Match: NXT Champion Oba Femi vs. TNA World Champion Trick Williams
• WWE Womenâ€s Speed Championship Tournament Finals: Candice LeRae vs. Lainey Reid

With three bouts and a fierce grudge match set to open the night, WWE NXT promises non-stop action from start to finish.

WWE NXT airs live tonight at 8 PM ET on The CW Network, broadcast from the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida. The Monday, September 15 episode of WWE Raw on Netflix brought in 2.6 million global views to go with 5.3 million global hours viewed through its first seven days, according to the Netflix weekly Tudum report.

The global views/accounts are identical to the September 8 episode while the hours viewed were slightly up from the previous week’s 5.1 million.

With the exception of August 4, the global views have been consistently between 2.4 million and 2.8 million over the last ten weeks.

The September 15 episode was the go-home edition prior to last Saturday’s Wrestlepalooza and featured an advertised appearance by John Cena in addition to a final face-to-face between CM Punk, AJ Lee, Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch.

The show had a 7 PM Eastern start time due to Monday Night Football (domestically), an hour earlier than usual.

Raw Viewership Details:

• The episode ranked seventh globally, but was fourth in the U.S. — an increase of two spots from the prior week. It was in the top ten in 12 countries.
• The show’s runtime was 1:58, ten minutes longer than the previous week which helped increase the global hours viewed.
• The average of the last ten weeks is 2.69 million global views and 5.4 million global hours viewed.
