Roman Reigns forced former WWE star Matt Riddle to apologize after the latter’s comments went viral.

Roman Reigns is the top star in WWE without a shadow of doubt. The star is not only one of the best performers in the world, but also has a commanding presence with his aura. The longest-reigning Universal Champion of all time has also been accused of several different things in his career. One of the things that got Reigns really mad came from Matt Riddle, who stated a few weeks ago that Reigns may be able to beat Bro in a WWE ring, but outside the ring, in a street fight, or inside a cage, The OTC did not stand a chance against the former United States Champion.

Now, Riddle has revealed that Roman Reigns “flipped out” because of the comments and sent him a text message.

Former WWE Star Matt Riddle Reveals What Roman Reigns Texted Him After The Comments

In an interview with TMZ, the former United States Champion revealed that Roman Reigns texted him after the comments and was not pleased with what was said in public. Riddle also doubled down on his comments and stated that what he said was true.

They asked me to talk crap about Roman. I told everybody, ‘Hey, he might beat me in the ring, but if we were in a cage or in the street, Iâ€d beat the hell out of him.†And he knows that, and I know that and everybody else knows that.â€

The former RK-Bro member stated that The OTC “flipped out.”

Dude, he flipped out. He texted me… ‘Not cool, dude.†And I was like, ‘Oh [__]!†Like, I apologized.â€

Matt Riddle apparently wrote a lengthy apology and showed it to Randy Orton for approval, with The Viper coming to his aid.

So I wrote like this long apology. I go, ‘Randy, how does this look?†And Randy goes, ‘Nah, this isnâ€t right.†He rewrites it, and it was basically like: ‘My bad, bro. Maybe weâ€ll work again someday soon.â€â€ [H/T RSN]

Riddle later went on to attack the TMZ reporter in a crazy turn of events.

Champion vs. champion rarely accomplishes much in professional wrestling if neither title is on the line.

The Crown Jewel Championships ostensibly define who is the true No. 1 world champion in WWE, but nothing was done with the concept last year past the premium live event.

Cody Rhodes and Liv Morgan did not utilize that title in any fashion after Crown Jewel.

The loss cost both Gunther and Nia Jax momentum as champions, so it came off as a net negative for the company.

This year, WWE can push this angle forward as long as the Crown Jewel Championship is highlighted on air throughout the next year.

If Seth Rollins defeats Rhodes, he can run with the narrative that is the true face of the company and throw his second title in any potential challengers’ face.

Tiffany Stratton has held the WWE Women’s Championship for over 260 days while Stephanie Vaquer just won the Women’s World Championship.

A win for Stratton would clearly establish that she is the gold standard of the current women’s division. A win for Vaquer could be the next step in a dominant reign for La Primera that can last all the way past next year’s Crown Jewel.

For all champions, this victory should be seen as a badge of honor that cannot be taken away until next year’s Crown Jewel, even if they lose their world titles in the meantime.

If the Crown Jewel champion loses their primary world title, that championship can serve to push them back into the world title scene, possibly set up a rematch with the champion they defeated down the line to take their gold.

The possibilities are bountiful, and the only way WWE can fail in executing this story is by ignoring it entirely once WWE talent have returned home from their Australian tour.

Roman Reigns is back after a short break.

The September 29 episode of WWE RAW included a lot of big moments at the Lenovo Center in Raleigh, North Carolina. The show kicked off with quite a segment.

Bronson Reed and Bron Breakker were able to defeat The Usos at Clash in Paris. Then the two teams had another match this week on RAW, but it was a tornado tag team match this time around.

This match went down in the main event slot of this weekâ€s show. Just as it looked like Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed were going to win, as they stacked the Usos on top of each other and prepared for a splash, Roman Reigns†music hit.

The OTC came out with a steel chair as an equalizer. Then Roman approached Bronson and he took him out with the foreign object, one that was totally legal in this match. Then he turned his attention to Bron Breakker. It was a brutal attack on the Vision members, and fans were more than happy to see him return tonight.

After that, the Usos were able to win the match. Only time will tell how this pans out in the end.

Roman Reigns†most recent match took place on August 31, 2025, at WWE Clash in Paris. In that event, Reigns faced Bronson Reed, and the OTC won. However, an attack after the match put Reigns out of commission for a bit.

We will have to see what is next for Roman Reigns†booking. It appears that he is back in the fold, and it stands to reason that he will make it on the Crown Jewel card in some fashion.

“The Tribal Chief” Roman Reigns has made his surprise return to WWE television. On the September 29 episode of Monday Night Raw, Reigns appeared during the main event, attacking Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed of The Vision and helping his cousins, The Usos, secure a victory in a chaotic Tornado Tag Team match.

The return marks Reigns’s first appearance on WWE programming in a month and signals a major escalation in the ongoing war between his family and the Vision faction. The return came during the final moments of the brutal Tornado Tag Team main event.

As Breakker and Reed had Jey and Jimmy Uso stacked up and were preparing to finish the match, Reigns’s music hit to a massive ovation from the Raleigh, North Carolina crowd. “The Head of the Table” came down to the ring with a steel chair and, since the weapon was legal under the match’s no-disqualification rules, proceeded to lay out both members of The Vision. His interference allowed The Usos to recover and get the pinfall victory.

This was Roman Reigns’s first appearance since the WWE Clash in Paris Premium Live Event on August 31. On that night, after successfully defeating Bronson Reed in a singles match, Reigns was the victim of a post-match assault by the entire Vision faction, which was the storyline reason for his month-long absence.

Thereâ€s been a lot of talk about this yearâ€s PWI 500; one of the biggest topics surrounding it is the absence of WWE Superstar Roman Reigns.

While Roman Reigns is arguably one of the biggest WWE Superstars of all time, there is a good reason why the Tribal Chief was excluded from this yearâ€s list. The criteria wouldnâ€t allow him to be on it.

Pro Wrestling Illustrated has a strict criteria of what it takes to be included on the PWI 500. And one specific point automatically disqualified Reigns from being included on this yearâ€s list: activity.

The PWI 500 requires each name on the list to have wrestled ten singles matches within the evaluation period. Reigns only competed eight times during the evaluation period, and only two of them were one-on-one singles matches.

Beyond activity, Reigns easily qualified for every other piece of criteria to be included on the list. But if you miss one, youâ€re out. Unfortunately for Roman, he was on the outside looking in this year.
