Daria Berenato — formerly known as Sonya Deville in WWE — has booked a new movie role with filming set to begin soon.

It was announced via Deadline today that Berenato is part of the cast for an upcoming horror-comedy film titled “Zombois.” The film is also set to star Tuc Watkins, Thomas Dekker, Brenna Dâ€Amico, Adam Huss, and Aaron Goldenberg. Production begins in Atlanta this month.

The film is from director Garrett Abdo, who described it as something “fun and outrageous” with gay zombies. It’s Abdo’s second feature film following the 2025 picture “Exit Interviews.”

“The feature centers on a group of college seniors on break in the North Georgia Mountains who discover a guarded secret and a contagion that turns their getaway into a brutal battle for survival,” Deadline wrote about “Zombois.”

Berenato departed WWE this February when she was informed that her contract was not being renewed. She was “shocked” by the decision given that she had been in negotiations for a new WWE deal, but Berenato said she believes this was the universe guiding her toward where she is supposed to be in life. Acting was her childhood dream, so no longer being with WWE gives her more time to pursue that.

Since her WWE departure, Berenato has not wrestled anywhere else. She co-hosts the podcast Daria & Toni Unwrapped with her wife Toni Cassano.

Stone Cold Steve Austin staring down Bret Hart during Survivor Series 1996.

WWE

The feud between Stone Cold Steve Austin and Bret Hart is arguably one of the most important storylines of the 90s, as it kickstarted what would eventually become WWE’s “Attitude Era.” Years later, during the anniversary of the “Montreal Screwjob,” Hart returned to Montreal for the “Johnny I Pro Show,” where he looked back at his history with Austin.

“We just always had a good chemistry…I think I had a lot to do with Steve going to WWF in the first place,” Hart claimed. The veteran then explained that he always tried to get Vince McMahon to bring new talent on board, and criticized his former boss for letting Austin go to WCW. “I had just heard from somebody that Steve Austin had been let go or had just re-signed, I think, with ECW.”

Hart further claimed that he also questioned McMahon on not trying to scoop Austin up again, and with the ECW deal, McMahon finally took action and signed him within a few months. “So, I had a lot to do with Steve coming to the WWF in the first place, so when he did arrive, I was like: ‘There you are!’ Like, ‘I was the one who was trying to get you in here!'”

Bret Hart fondly looks back at his WrestleMania 13 clash against Steve Austin

Bret Hart locking Stone Cold Steve Austin into The Sharpshooter at WrestleMania 13.

WWE

When it came to Stone Cold Steve Austin’s ability, Bret Hart boldly proclaimed that his former rival was a really good wrestler who wanted to work hard and make a difference. “So, I think the fact that we just had a really good chemistry in the beginning led to everything else,” he added. “The WrestleMania 13 match was… We fought at Survivor Series, which was a really good match too.” Hart, looking back at Survivor Series 1996, claimed he did everything he could think of in that match, and putting the match together with Austin allowed them to just wrestle at WrestleMania 13 because of the chemistry they’d built.

“The Hitman” then criticized the concept of the “I Quit” match, noting that he even complained to Vince McMahon, but that he and Austin ultimately made the best of what they were given.Â

“I always loved the match for so many things,” Bret said. “Even the blood, you know, I mean, just to be frank and honest, nobody would be, probably, talking about that match today if there wasn’t blood in it.”

Some consider his WrestleMania 13 match against Austin as the greatest match of all time, but Hart felt that was a bit presumptuous.

“I don’t have any problem saying that was the greatest match of all time, although that’s impossible to say, but it was just such a beautiful story,” Hart said.

John Cenaâ€s final match is set for December 13th at Saturday Nightâ€s Main Event in Washington, DC — a historic night for WWE and one fans have been waiting years to see. But now, a brand‑new update adds an emotional twist: Stephanie McMahon will be co‑hosting the broadcast, and sheâ€s already preparing herself for an unforgettable—and overwhelming—moment.

Speaking with Meghan Morant, Stephanie McMahon revealed that sheâ€ll be calling Cenaâ€s final bout alongside Joe Tessitore. While fans are gearing up for Cenaâ€s last ride, Stephanie admitted she hasnâ€t even processed how she will feel that night, because her mind has been entirely on Cenaâ€s journey.

“Iâ€m actually co-hosting with Joe Tessitore, so Iâ€m going to have to keep my emotions in check a bit.â€

McMahon went on to talk about what it means to witness Cenaâ€s rise, career, and retirement from her unique vantage point—someone who saw his earliest days and watched him transform into one of WWEâ€s biggest global stars.

“I havenâ€t really thought about how Iâ€m going to feel — Iâ€ve only been thinking about John. But I have to say, Iâ€ve had the most unbelievable blessings in my life. To be there, to witness a star be born and then see that star go out on their shield, so to speak — itâ€s such a privilege. Itâ€s something I canâ€t really put into words.â€

Stephanie added that she rarely considers moments like these from her own perspective, because being part of WWE at any level is meaningful by itself—especially during a farewell as significant as Cenaâ€s.

“Iâ€ve never really thought about it from my perspective. But just being part of this business in any way is special, especially when it means being a part of someoneâ€s remarkable journey.â€

John Cenaâ€s last match already promised history, but now—with Stephanie McMahon stepping in as co-host—the night is shaping up to be even more emotionally charged.

How do you feel about Stephanie McMahon co‑hosting John Cenaâ€s final WWE match?
Will this add to the moment, or make the night even harder to watch? Share your thoughts and reactions below.

Roki Sasaki thrived while navigating an unfamiliar role on the postseason stage. Now a World Series champion with a year in the big leagues under his belt, the 24-year-old is going back to what he knows: starting pitching.

Sasaki’s shift to the ‘pen for the Dodgers’ championship run was predicated on his return to the rotation the following season. The success he enjoyed as the team’s postseason closer — three saves and just one earned run allowed in 10 2/3 innings — did not change that.

“I think for us, it was about trying to get his delivery back,” president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman said after World Series Game 7 in Toronto. “I feel like we made a lot of progress on that. And so for us, we’re definitely viewing him as a starter and a really good one, and we’ll continue to work this offseason and put him in the best position to be ready in Spring Training to help us win again.”

Here’s a look at the good, the bad and the unknown from Sasaki’s stint in the ‘pen and what it might mean for his return to starting:

Encouraging signs
Perhaps the best development for Sasaki was the return of his velocity. While he was in the rotation, Sasaki threw just eight pitches that registered at 99 mph or faster. From his first big league relief appearance on Sept. 24 on, he threw 46 pitches 99 mph or faster.

Not only was he throwing harder, but he was locating both his four-seamer and his nasty splitter. Sasaki had nearly as many walks (22) as strikeouts (24) as a starter, but he was able to cut his walk rate (14.3% to 10%) and raise his strikeout rate (15.6% to 20%) in relief. Opposing hitters could no longer afford to sit on the splitter when he was landing both of his pitches in the zone, leading to a 51.3% whiff rate on the offering.

Sasaki’s overall body of work as a reliever much more closely resembled the electric arm that was highly coveted when he was posted for Major League teams last offseason. He also pitched with the conviction that the Dodgers had been waiting to see from him all year long, which bodes well heading into next season.

Lingering concerns
From a high-level view, there are mostly positives to take away from Sasaki’s relief stint. But even as he got the results he needed throughout the postseason, there was a bit of a dropoff with his fastball.

After Sasaki averaged in the range of 99-100 mph with his four-seamer through the National League Division Series, he threw it a tick slower during the NL Championship Series and the World Series, sitting just over 98 mph in his final five outings. He also got more than one whiff on the fastball only twice in 11 outings. Overall, he upped his fastball whiff rate (10.1% to 20%) compared with when he was a starter.

It should be noted that the dropoff came after Sasaki’s heaviest workload of the postseason, his three perfect innings on 36 pitches in NLDS Game 4. He had three days of rest in between then and NLCS Game 1, during which he averaged 98 mph on his fastball and allowed his only run of the postseason.

To be determined
In reality, the unknowns might outnumber the knowns. The situations and workloads of the rotation and the bullpen are so different that some other factors might be equally important to Sasaki.

Sasaki could be working with an expanded arsenal. While he was rehabbing his shoulder, he worked on a cutter, which he threw during his Minor League rehab assignment but not in any Major League games. He also ditched his slider after returning from injury.

Having a full offseason as a Dodger might also be helpful for Sasaki, who signed with the team this past January. Whereas he only had a few weeks to work with the organization this year before Spring Training began, he’ll have months to prepare this time around.

The most important takeaway from his stint in relief is that the electric stuff is still in there. It’s just a matter of unlocking it.

BALTIMORE — At the end of the 2025 season, Mike Shildt announced his decision to retire and step down as Padres manager. The news came as a surprise due to the 57-year-oldâ€s success at the helm in San Diego.

Shildt wasnâ€t away from baseball for long.

On Wednesday, a source told MLB.com that the Orioles are hiring Shildt to serve as the organizationâ€s upper-level coordinator of instruction. Samuel Vega will be promoted by Baltimore and become the lower-level coordinator of instruction, per a source.

Neither move has been confirmed or announced by the club.

Shildt was the Padres†manager the past two seasons, and he led the team to a 183-141 record during that time. San Diego made the postseason each year, losing to the Dodgers in the National League Division Series in 2024, then falling to the Cubs in the NL Wild Card Series in ‘25.

Although Shildt was under contract in San Diego through the 2027 season, he said “the grind of the baseball season†had “taken a severe toll†on him “mentally, physically and emotionally†in the letter announcing his resignation. Craig Stammen has since become the Padres†manager.

A Charlotte, N.C., native, Shildt worked in the Cardinals†organization from 2004-18 in various other roles, including as an area scout and Minor League manager. Orioles president of baseball operations Mike Elias worked in St. Louis†scouting department from 2007-11.

Vega has been Baltimoreâ€s Latin American field coordinator since November 2021. The 29-year-old was an infielder at Northern Illinois University from 2017-18.

It is not yet clear what responsibilities Shildt and Vega will have in their new roles. However, Shildt will seemingly work with players at Triple-A Norfolk and Double-A Chesapeake, while Vegaâ€s duties would come with High-A Frederick and Single-A Delmarva.

Zack Ryder made his triumphant return during the November 14th edition of SmackDown and now John Cenaâ€s role in making that return a reality has been revealed.

While speaking to Adrian Hernandez, Chelsea Green revealed that her husband Zack Ryderâ€s WWE return happened after years of persistence. She said he stayed in contact with WWE for five straight years, regularly updating the company and making sure Triple H knew he was available, especially for events like the Royal Rumble.

According to Green, everything finally aligned because Ryder has a real friendship with John Cena, making it the perfect scenario for him.

“Heâ€s been in contact with WWE constantly. The whole five years heâ€s been in contact with WWE. Heâ€s always making sure that Triple H knows what heâ€s doing or that heâ€s available for a Rumble and things like that. I just think it was a perfect storm — this made the most sense because he does have a personal friendship and relationship with John Cena. So why wouldnâ€t he want to be John Cenaâ€s final opponent?â€

Green explained that it wasnâ€t just Ryder pushing for it; she and John Cena also kept constantly pestering WWE about the idea. The constant pressure eventually worked, and WWE agreed. She said the situation proves that if you donâ€t keep asking, nothing happens, and it took all of them pushing together to make Ryderâ€s return a reality.

“And so it worked perfectly — between me pestering WWE, John Cena really pestering WWE, and Matt pestering WWE. They caved and it worked. Thatâ€s what Iâ€m saying: youâ€ve got to keep asking. If you donâ€t ask — closed mouths donâ€t get fed. We all get the f****** grease.â€

Ryderâ€s return match saw him lose to LA Knight in the “Last Time Is Now†tournament and thatâ€s the last time fans will see Ryder for now, since it was a one-off appearance for him. So weâ€ll just have to wait and see if Ryder will make his return to WWE again eventually, as itâ€s clear fans still love him.

Should WWE bring Zack Ryder back for one more run? What role would you like to see him play if he returns permanently? Sound off in the comments.

Last year, it was revealed that WWE star Becky Lynch was cast in the Star Trek spin-off “Starfleet Academy,” and on Tuesday afternoon, fans were given their first look at “The Man” in her newest acting role.Â

In an exclusive article published by Collider, a photo of Lynch dressed as a Starfleet officer was unveiled, where she will be in Operations Gold as part of the bridge crew in the show. Following the reveal, Lynch took to social media to share her reaction to the first look.

“Everyone’s FAVORITE wrestler turned actor will be starring in one of the most ICONIC franchises in TV history. Star Trek: Starfleet Academy premieres in January on Paramount+. You can get a sneak peek of just how AMAZING I look here. Small correction Collider, I’m not one of WWE’s biggest stars, I’M THE BIGGEST!”

Earlier this year, Lynch admitted during an interview that she wasn’t the biggest fan of Star Trek growing up and often didn’t keep up with the television series, but was always drawn to the movies throughout the years.

“I grew up when Star Trek was one of the two shows that was on TV in Ireland, on whatever four channels we had, so it was always on in the background. I can’t say that I sat down and watched, but I did love the movies. And Colm Meaney. We all love Colm Meaney, any time he was on, you sit down and watch that.”

Alongside Lynch, the first season of “Starfleet Academy” also stars Holly Hunter, Mary Wiseman, Tig Notaro, Oded Fehr and Robert Picardo. Other new faces that will be making their Star Trek debut include Stephen Colbert, Paul Giamatti and Tatiana Malany. Lynch has also been no stranger to getting involved in several projects outside of professional wrestling, having been featured in Happy Gilmore 2 and playing Cyndi Lauper in the popular sitcom, Young Rock.
