Paul “Triple H” Levesque is grateful to have Cody Rhodes leading the WWE roster right now.
In a tweet on Wednesday, Levesque praised the work ethic Rhodes has shown heading into Crown Jewel: Perth, crediting him for how he’s taken the time to do media and charity work — along with still working out in the gym — despite a hectic travel schedule. He praised Rhodes for showing the quarterback-type leadership that it takes to be a top WWE star.
People only see results… they donâ€t see what it takes to achieve them.

Rhodes — the WWE Champion — is facing World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins at Crown Jewel this Saturday. Neither of their titles are on the line, but the winner will become the Crown Jewel Champion for 2025. Rhodes is looking to repeat after defeating Gunther last year to become the first-ever men’s Crown Jewel Champion.
Saturday’s PLE has a start time of 8 a.m. Eastern, streaming live on the ESPN app in the United States and Netflix elsewhere. The women’s Crown Jewel Championship match will pit WWE Women’s Champion Tiffany Stratton against Women’s World Champion Stephanie Vaquer.

In addition to already being an international attraction, Crown Jewel has shifted its focus in the last two years toward becoming the one night of the year where WWE’s top title holders face off.
Survivor Series previously held that distinction between 2016 and 2021, but it’s now less about brand supremacy and more about cementing superiority. Although the Crown Jewel Championships and gaudy rings don’t make the matches any more meaningful, Cody Rhodes vs. Seth Rollins should undoubtedly deliver from an in-ring standpoint.
That was also the case with last year’s Rhodes vs. Gunther main-event, where the excellent action overshadowed the lack of stakes and story. Rhodes reigned supreme on that night, but whether he can pull it off again at this year’s installment of Crown Jewel against his archnemesis in Rollins is the ultimate question.
In years past, WWE has held countless champion vs. champion matches without anything on the line, whereas in other instances, both belts have been up for grabs. Several situations have also seen tag team champs collide in singles competition, and by definition, those too fall under this category.
The following are the best of the bunch as well as the most memorable and monumental.

Cody Rhodes is indisputably a top five player in pro wrestling today. He’s been at the top for a few years now in WWE that it’s easy to forget his lengthy and unique journey in the business. From debuting in WWE before he could drink alcohol to being saddled with the Stardust gimmick to leaving and helping create a rival promotion to making an epic return to WWE at WrestleMania 38Â to being involved in perhaps the greatest storyline of all time with The Bloodline, Rhodes has had one of the wildest rides in wrestling.Â
Rhodes was a guest on ESPN’s “UnSportsmanLike,” where he explained to the hosts why him leaving WWE when he did was unheard of.Â
“At the time that I left, it was really unheard of. Typically, WWE would cut ties with you, and I was a legacy hire, so I was gonna be there forever, just a little nepo baby. And I’d also done really good work, I was one of the last guys who wrestled Triple H when he was still going, Undertaker when he was still going,” Rhodes said. “I was 20 years old when I first got under contract and I was 21 when I debuted on the show. I think it was important for them to know that I wasn’t a kid anymore.”
“The American Nightmare” went on to explain that his experience leaving WWE was even more unique than others, because he ended up creating a competitor.Â
“It was even more unheard of to leave and be able to create something and create a little bit of an underground scene, a different flavor … I had that experience when I went away and I was able to come back far more complete.”
Rhodes remains firmly committed to WWE at this stage in his career, commenting on the chances that he could be in Triple H’s spot in 10 years.

Wayne and Wyatt Rhodes may have experience competing in AEW and Ring of Honor, but the duo are already eyeing up potential dream matches in WWE. Speaking to MuscleManMalcolm, the pair were asked who they would like to wrestle in WWE.
Wayne is eager to step in the ring with the Motor City Machine Guns (Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley) and added that the Rhodes met the guns recently. He added that DIY is another team he and Wyatt would love to work with. Wyatt went on to say that he’s hoping for a full-time reunion for The Usos. Though Jimmy and Jey are one of WWE’s most dominant teams of all time, Wyatt was confident, saying he and Wayne would “kick their ass!â€
Wayne and Wyatt are the nephews of Cody and Dustin Rhodes. Together, they have competed as ‘The New Texas Outlaws,’ an homage to the tag team of Dick Murdoch and their grandfather, Dusty Rhodes. The pair defeated Aaron Solo and Jon Cruz during their AEW debut in August 2024, and defeated Solo and Cruz again in Ring of Honor in February 2025.
Wayne and Wyatt were backstage at WWE SmackDown in January 2025, giving the pair a taste of what they can expect if they become Superstars. On social media, Cody was proud of his nephews’ development so far, calling the duo “future tag champs.”
Whether Cody’s prediction comes true, time will tell. Nevertheless, Wayne and Wyatt Rhodes are determined to face the very best teams that WWE has to offer.

Cody Rhodes is the Undisputed WWE Champion in his second reign as face of the company. The second generation Superstar has been pushed at the top of the company since returning, but now his fans are firing back at ESPN after what some see as a sign of disrespect.
The American Nightmare dethroned John Cena of the Undisputed WWE Championship at SummerSlam on August 3 to begin his second reign. Rhodes did not make his first title defense until retaining over Drew McIntyre in the main event of WWE’s inaugural Wrestlepalooza PLE on September 20, mainly due to Street Fighter filming.
Cody became the first-ever WWE Crown Jewel Champion in November 2024, and he will fight for that championship once again as the SmackDown representative when he goes up against World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins of RAW at the Crown Jewel VII PLE later this month.
The new WWE-ESPN alliance got off to a rocky start after Wrestlepalooza, and now the leading brands are going viral again for less-than-ideal circumstances. During the Iowa State vs. Cincinnati college football game on ESPN2 this weekend, announcer Roy Philpott was plugging WWE Crown Jewel when he touted “Cory Rhodes” as the Undisputed Champion.
“Don’t forget, WWE Crown Jewel, live from Perth, Western Australia, next Saturday, October 11 at 8am Eastern. Catch it on the all-new ESPN App… Cory Rhodes to battle Seth Rollins in a WWE Crown Jewel Championship match,” Roy Philpott said.

Cody Rhodes says he insisted on doing his own stunts while filming the new Street Fighter movie.
Rhodes missed several weeks of WWE programming to perform the role of Guile in the film. The character is a pilot in the US Air Force and was one of the original eight fighters from the 1991 video game.
During a recent appearance on The Pat McAfee Show, Rhodes was asked how his wrestling background helped him filming the more physical parts of the role. Rhodes answered:
“The physicality part of Guile was, I felt like a pretty easy pick up. And bit of a spoiler for whatâ€s going to be, I hope, a monster movie. Guile does a few things. In terms of in the video games, you know Guileâ€s going to do a Sonic Boom, you know Guileâ€s going to do the Flash Kick. I was adamant that anything thatâ€s a stunt, I want to do it. If that requires me being on these wires, I want to do it. If you put another guy over here in the corner who I know is going to do the shot after, I still want a shot at it.”
Rhodes credited the stunt team that worked on the film with putting together the fight scenes and allowing him to take a shot doing his own stunts.
“They let us have a lot of fun. And I hope people enjoy how I approach Guile, because itâ€s different perhaps than the straight military man.”
Rhodes continued:
“This is the first real movie Iâ€ve been part of in a sense of being there every day, showing up, stunt training… The hair on Guile is quite a sight. They kept us really busy, and Sydney was so incredible. I havenâ€t been in a place and stayed still like that pretty much in my whole career, other than my own home.”
Street Fighter is scheduled to release in October 2026. The film takes place in 1993 and focuses on the popular characters Ryu (Andrew Koji), Ken (Noah Centine), and Chun-Li (Callina Liang). It also features Jason Momoa as Blanka, Roman Reigns as Akuma, 50 Cent as Balrog, and NJPW’s Hirooki Goto as E. Honda.

Is Cody Rhodes going to pursue more Hollywood projects? Here is what we know.
The current WWE Champion and arguably the face of the company, Cody Rhodes, recently went on a small hiatus to film his role as ‘Guile’ in the upcoming Street Fighter live-action movie. The American Nightmare will also be joined by Roman Reigns in the film as ‘Akuma’.
Recently, speaking with Local 12 in Cincinnati after the October 3rd episode of SmackDown, Rhodes shared his honest thoughts about a future in Hollywood. Not brushing away any potential future chances, he said,
“If those opportunities come up, I love those opportunities. The idea that we can go off and do this, and tell stories in different worlds, meet these new people, and challenge ourselves as storytellers or artists or however you wanna look at a pro-wrestler. “It was very helpful for me to do it. I came back better at wrestling, believe it or not, from being able to go and do that.”
“So I’d like to find my own lane. I’ve watched what The Rock has done, Smashing Machine is – no pun intended – it’s a smash. It’s unbelievable, his work. “Batista, completely different lane, unbelievable work. John Cena and the Peacemaker stuff, it’s gangbusters. “If that’s the route we’re going, I wanna find a different lane, but I’m very grateful for the path that they’ve set and how they’re doing it.”

Set to be directed by Kitao Sakurai, Street Fighter is currently booked for an October 2026 release.
Cody Rhodes Makes A Shocking Admission About His ‘Street Fighter’ Role
Recently, during his appearance on the Pat McAfee show, Cody Rhodes admitted to performing his own stunts while filming ‘Street Fighter’.
“I was adamant that anything thatâ€s a stunt, Iâ€m gonna do it. If that requires me being on these wires, I wanna do it.â€
