The wild pull-apart brawl between Adam Page and Samoa Joe on the October 1 episode of AEW Dynamite had fans talking—but one of the security guards trying to break it up has now been identified, and heâ€s no stranger to the ring.
Independent wrestler Leeroy Shogun took to social media to confirm that he was one of the guards who stepped in when Page and Joe started throwing hands after their tag team win over the Death Riders.
Shogun, based in Florida, has built a strong reputation on the indie scene, especially in promotions like Tampa Bay Pro Wrestling and POW, where heâ€s held the POW Florida Championship.
The AEW appearance placed him directly in the middle of Dynamiteâ€s segment, as Page and Joeâ€s partnership imploded post-match. The chaos escalated to the point where Page issued a challenge for the AEW World Championship at WrestleDream, and Joe accepted—making the title match official for the upcoming October 18 pay-per-view in St. Louis.
While Shogunâ€s role was brief, being part of one of AEWâ€s hottest angles is a major spotlight for an indie talent. His presence in a segment involving two of AEWâ€s top stars could open doors for more appearances down the line.
Should AEW give more indie wrestlers like Leeroy Shogun the spotlight? Could we see him in a match next time? Drop your thoughts in the comments.

A former England international winger has been declared bankrupt after amassing more than £1.5 million in debt through his now-liquidated media company.
Liverpool legend John Barnes has fought off four bankruptcy petitions in the last 15 years but was hit with a bankruptcy order in the High Court of Justice last week.
“Liquidators’ reports show he owed HMRC £776,878 in unpaid VAT, National Insurance, and PAYE, alongside £461,849 to unsecured creditors and a £226,000 directors loan,” reports The Independent.

Barnes reportedly paid a personal tax bill of £238,000 to see off a bankruptcy petition in 2023 but the debts owed by his business have caused a series of problems, culminating in the finalised bankruptcy order.
According to an insolvency specialist and partner at law firm DMH Stallard, Barnes has been involved in legal proceedings for some time.

“John Barnes’s bankruptcy comes just over a year after he signed a disqualification undertaking, disqualifying him from acting as a director for three and a half years,” says Oliver Jackson.
“The difficulties faced by Barnes all stem from his company, John Barnes Media Limited, which went into liquidation in March 2023 owing over £1.5 million. That, in turn, followed HMRC’s rejection of a ‘time to pay’ proposal from Barnes.”

Bankruptcy is not uncommon among former professional footballers, with the likes of Paul Gascoigne, David James, George Best, Wes Brown and Lee Hendrie on a very long list.
Barnes told a business podcast that he was ‘burned’ because he trusted people he shouldn’t have trusted and has been in conversation with HRMC, the United Kingdom’s tax, payments and customs authority, since 2017.

“The disqualification, now coupled with his bankruptcy, underlines how HMRC are clamping down on directors and individuals who seek to avoid paying tax,” Jackson adds.

“Over the last five years HMRC has collected £384 million in unpaid taxes from footballers, their clubs and agents, including £67.5 million in 2023.”
Barnes, who is ranked at No.14 in FourFourTwo‘s list of the best Premier League wingers of all time, represented England with distinction between 1983 and 1995, racking up 79 senior international caps.
He played 314 top-flight matches for Liverpool over the course of a decade after soaring to stardom as a Watford player in the 1980s. He played briefly for Newcastle United and Charlton Athletic at the end of his playing career.
Now 61, Barnes has had two abortive stints in management with Celtic in 1999 and then Jamaica and Tranmere Rovers many years later, but has primarily focused on work in the football broadcast media since retiring as a player.
WWE has dropped the Invasion name for the upcoming event between NXT and TNA next month.
Invasion, the original title of the WWE/WCW pay-per-view back in 2001, was set to be resurrected next month for a Tuesday night special of NXT that would see the brand go head-to-head with TNA Wrestling.
However, complaints emerged regarding the title of the show and the date it was taking place on October 7. Thus, WWE decided it was best to change course and rename the event.
WrestleVotes took to social media prior to tonightâ€s episode of WWE NXT to reveal the new name, tweeting out:
“The NXT vs TNA ‘Invasion†show is getting a new name. Itâ€s now titled ‘Showdown,’†WrestleVotes said in a post.

WWEâ€s NXT brand dropped a major reveal on the September 30 episode—and it all centers around Lainey Reid and the Fatal Attraction crew.
Reid was originally slated to challenge for the WWE Speed Title at No Mercy, but her match was pulled, and Jaida Parker took her place. While Reid didnâ€t step into the ring, it turns out she still had a major role at the event—just one fans didnâ€t see coming.
In a backstage segment on NXT, Lainey Reid revealed that she was the masked woman who interfered in the NXT Womenâ€s Title match at No Mercy. That interference helped Jacy Jayne retain her championship against Lola Vice.
Reid proudly admitted it to Jayne and Fallon Henley, smirking as she bragged about still being part of No Mercy despite being taken off the official card.
But she didnâ€t stop there. Reid also confessed to being the one who attacked Jazmyn Nyx—an attack that sidelined Nyx and effectively removed her from the Fatal Influence stable. That twist reshapes the entire dynamic within NXTâ€s womenâ€s division.
With betrayals, masked interference, and shifting alliances, this storyline has gone full soap opera. And with Reid now cemented as a wild card in the division, the Fatal Attraction stable might be stronger—and more chaotic—than ever.
What do you think about Lainey Reidâ€s reveal? Did NXT pull off the swerve, or did you see it coming? Let us know how you feel about this new chapter.

We now know why WWE recently applied to trademark the term “PJ Vasa.”
On September 28, WWE made a trademark filing for “PJ Vasa” — which appeared to be the new name for an NXT talent. That’s now been confirmed with Performance Center recruit Penina Tuilaepa revealing that the moniker is for her. She posted a tweet about the new name and also updated her social media accounts to reflect the change.
Happy Monday nosey mfs – PJ Vasa has entered the chat.
COME GET YO ISSUE 😤 #WWE #WWENXT
— Penina Tuilaepa (@PJVasa_WWE) September 29, 2025
“Happy Monday nosey mfs – PJ Vasa has entered the chat,” she wrote. “COME GET YO ISSUE #WWE #WWENXT”
Tuilaepa has a background in rugby and is of Samoan descent. She played rugby in college for Lindenwood University, along with playing for the Western Force in Australia.
Nicknamed “P Nasty,” Tuilaepa has been a cast member on both seasons of WWE LFG on A&E. She is currently a finalist on season two. Dani Sekelsky will be her opponent in the women’s finals.
The “PJ Vasa” trademark filing from WWE notes that it’s for goods and services related to pro wrestling performances:
Entertainment services, namely, wrestling exhibitions and performances by a professional wrestler and entertainer rendered live and through broadcast media including television and radio, and via the internet or commercial online service; providing wrestling news and information via a global computer network; providing information in the fields of sports and entertainment via an online community portal; providing a website in the field of sports entertainment information; fan club services, namely, organizing sporting events in the field of wrestling for wrestling fan club members; organizing social entertainment events for entertainment purposes for wrestling fan club members; providing online newsletters in the fields of sports entertainment; online journals, namely blogs, in the field of sports entertainment

Buddy Matthews wrestled Kazuchika Okada at AEW Grand Slam: Australia, but he injured his ankle during his entrance before the match even started. Heâ€s been out of action since then and now his current in-ring return status has been revealed.
According to Sean Ross Sapp on the Fightful Select Q&A, Buddy Matthews isnâ€t expected to return to the AEW ring anytime soon. Sapp said Matthews will likely be out of action until at least the end of the year.
This comes after Buddy Matthews previously admitted that his ankle still wasnâ€t healing properly and that a chronic condition was a looming risk. Thatâ€s exactly why he decided to undergo surgery last month and is currently on the road to recovery.
Buddy Matthews is focusing on his long-term health instead of rushing back. Even though fans will have to wait longer to see him wrestle in AEW, taking time to fully recover should help him stay strong and perform well for years to come.
Since itâ€s unlikely fans will see Buddy Matthews back this year, weâ€ll have to wait and see when he can finally come back. With AEW returning to Australia in February 2026, perhaps that would be the ideal place for his return.
How do you think AEW should book Buddy Matthews once he returns to in-ring action? Share your thoughts and predictions in the comments below!

Hologram appeared to have suffered an injury during Saturdayâ€s AEW Collision, forcing a new entrant to take his place in a TNT title match.
During Saturdayâ€s show, Kyle Fletcher attacked Hologram after an El Clon glitch that appeared in a promo backstage. Fletcher ambushed Hologram and left him down after his attack. Unfortunately for the star, it seems like he was injured as a result of the attack and not compete for the TNT title.
During Fletcherâ€s match with Komander later in the show, Tony Schiavone revealed Hologram was hurt. Specifically, he said Hologram suffered a “serious injury,†and that he would be out for “quite a while.†Itâ€s unclear whether or not the injury itself is part of the show or genuine. But from all accounts, it seems like Hologram will be out for some time.
As a result of the injury, AEW announced that the recently returned Orange Cassidy will face off against Fletcher for the TNT Championship on AEW Dynamiteâ€s sixth anniversary show.
