KLADNO, Czech Republic — At age 53, Jaromir Jagr began his 38th professional season by playing on the fourth line for his hometown Kladno Knights in a 3-1 victory over Vitkovice on Friday night in the Czech league.

The former NHL great logged 10:08 minutes ice time and joined the power play unit in a season debut that had been delayed because of a muscle problem.

It was Kladnoâ€s 15th game of the season. Jagr was 53 years, 244 days old.

Jagr made his debut for Kladno at age 16 and returned to the club in 2018 when the Calgary Flames released him. Jagr remains second on the NHLâ€s all-time points list, only trailing Wayne Gretzky.

Jagr, whose 766 NHL goals rank him No. 4 all-time on that list, played 11 seasons in Pittsburgh, winning the Stanley Cup with the Penguins in 1991 and 1992.

Jagr didnâ€t talk to media after his seasonâ€s debut Friday.

“He makes his presence felt in the locker room,†forward Jakub Konecny said. “We have a lot of fun with him.â€

Until early this year, Jagr served in dual roles as Kladno player and owner, splitting his time between chasing sponsors and dealing with administrative duties and ice time.

Jagr acquired full ownership in 2017 and sold a majority stake in Kladno last January to boost the team financially.

Then, he said he would be happy to complete the season by trying to lead Kladno to the playoffs for the first time.

They didnâ€t reach the playoffs. So, heâ€s got another chance this season.

“It’s an honour – for the players to vote for me, when it’s your peers and your team-mates, that really means the world,” said Cox.

“I was pleased how I went in all formats and it’s nice to get your first ever T20 hundred, that was an amazing evening, but in The Hundred I was consistent, which I really enjoyed.

“I love it, it’s my favourite competition and to play at The Oval in front of a packed crowd every single time was very cool.”

Lamb scored 1,312 runs in domestic cricket, was the leading run-scorer in the One-Day Cup and averaged 41 for England in one-day internationals.

She beat Nat Sciver-Brunt, Kathryn Bryce and Georgia Elwiss to take the award.

“I’m very surprised to win,” said Lamb, who is part of the England squad at the Women’s World Cup. “I wasn’t expecting it but obviously I’m very happy.

“It’s really lovely that my peers have taken the time to recognise my performances this year. It’s such an honour to receive this award.

“It’s been a very enjoyable 12 months. Lots of highs playing with Lancashire this year and winning two trophies. I was gutted I couldn’t be there in the final of the One-Day Cup but it was a special moment watching us win it.”

Leicestershire all-rounder Rehan Ahmed, 21, was the voted the PCA men’s young player of the year after averaging over 50 with the bat in the County Championship.

The women’s young player of the year went to 19-year-old Warwickshire batter Davina Perrin – who scored a stunning 42-ball century for eventual winners Northern Superchargers in The Hundred.

Just how rare is it to see a pitcher throw 100 mph in a pro game?

It’s still not common, but it’s not nearly as rare as it was just a few years ago. In 2025, we tracked 140 pitchers who threw 100 mph in a MiLB game, as well as 82 MLB pitchers who hit the century mark. There are 30 pitchers who did it in both the majors and minors, meaning a total of 192 pitchers reached 100 mph this season.

Read More About Velocity

That is by far the most pitchers to reach triple digits we’ve ever seen, and we’ve been tracking this for more than a decade. We haven’t produced a list of MiLB 100 mph pitchers each and every year, but we have done it enough times to have a decent idea of the trend lines.

For MLB, all of these flame-throwing pitchers are tracked with Statcast, which measures the ball right out of the hand and keeps all measurements on the same scale.

For MiLB, the measurements vary from year to year. In recent years, it’s largely Hawk-Eye and Trackman data. The earliest numbers from the 2010s are predominantly radar gun readings with some Trackman inclusions mixed in, as well.

The rise in the number of 100 mph pitchers isn’t surprising when you consider that the average fastball velocity keeps climbing year after year:

Throwing hard presents a number of benefits for pitchers. For minor leaguers, in particular, there is considerable value in throwing 100 mph, as we found that 70% of the MiLB pitchers who made these lists in 2017 and 2018 eventually made it to the major leagues. Those lists did not look at control, MiLB success or the level at which a pitcher was performing, so it is a pretty clear indication of how extreme velocity often clears the path to the big leagues.
