ST. LOUIS — The Los Angeles Kings have activated forward Corey Perry from injured reserve to begin his 21st NHL season.

The Kings also put captain Anze Kopitar on injured reserve after his 20th NHL season was interrupted last week by a foot injury.

The 40-year-old Perry will be in the lineup when the Kings visit the St. Louis Blues on Tuesday night.

Perry signed with the Kings as a free agent last summer, but the 2011 NHL MVP injured his knee while skating before the start of training camp in September. He underwent surgery and managed to return before the team’s initial prognosis of six to eight weeks of recovery time.

Perry spent his first 14 seasons with the Kings’ archrivals, the Anaheim Ducks, before moving on to Dallas, Montreal, Tampa Bay, Chicago and Edmonton. He has played in the Stanley Cup Final in five of the past six seasons, but lost each time.

Perry had 448 goals and 487 assists in his career.

Kopitar is week to week after getting hit in the foot by a deflected puck during a game against Minnesota earlier this month. The Slovenian forward announced last month that he will retire at the end of the season.

The Kings are off to a rough start, going 1-3-2 with a four-game losing skid as they prepare to face the Blues on the first stop of a five-game road trip.

SPOTLIGHTED PODCAST ALERT (YOUR ARTICLE BEGINS A FEW INCHES DOWN)…

It’s WrestleDream week and a three-plus-hour go-home show was on tap to get fans ready for this Saturday night’s PPV event. There are some intriguing matchups as well as some rematches scheduled for this weekend, so let’s see how they did to get viewers ready.

HITS

MOXLEY-DARBY FACE-TO-FACE

This was a great segment. They just sat two guys down in chairs across from each other and had them talk. They had a conversation that did not come across as scripted. Viewers could hear both wrestlers explain their reasons for doing what they’ve been doing for the past few months. This was well constructed and well delivered by both. This is clearly the most anticipated match of the PPV for many fans and Tony Khan should really think about making it the main event.

The sequel to this later in the show was fine and the images of Darby crawling through all the abuse to get to Moxley was well done, but it wasn’t necessary to add any more anticipation in my mind. Needless to say, this is the match that has the most long-term emotional build and should be wild come Saturday night.

JURASSIC EXPRESS AND KENNY OMEGA

Early in the show, Jack Perry gave us a little more clarity, but he was still too vague in his explanation of his motives. If he is going to be a babyface again, he needs to show remorse over what he did in the past. The six-man tag match an hour later did a better job in that regard. The match was not only fun to watch and a hard-hitting affair, but there was a lot of narrative that made it more clear the role that the new Jurassic Express will play.

Perry sacrificed himself for Omega, which was the clear babyface decision I was hoping for as they eventually came out on top and got a much better fan reaction after the match than they did at the start. Omega coming to their aid when The Young Bucks arrived was another step forward for Omega to build some allies, since most of his friends are no longer available to help.

QUICK HITS

– The Toni Storm-Kris Statlander opening interview and short fight was weird, but strangely, it made me anticipate the match on Saturday a little bit more than I did previously, so I suppose that was the purpose of the segment!

– Jamie Hayter vs. Skye Blue was a very good match. Blue has continued to improve every week. Thekla did a great job in her promo setting up her match with Hayter for WrestleDream and it was nice that they didn’t have another beatdown to lead into the PPV. The match and words were all that was needed. I like Thekla and I think she should be built into a title contender sooner rather than later.

– The Claudio Castagnoli vs. Roderick Strong match was a lot of fun and very hard-hitting. It was a nice reminder what a force Claudio can be.

– The Opps vs. LFI match was more solid wrestling, but what stood out was “Hangman” Adam Page and his interaction with Bryan Danielson on commentary. They had some great insight on the World Title match at WrestleDream and the post-match angle did enough to make this another one I’m looking forward to watching on Saturday. I have really liked the build to this despite how quickly they had to pivot to this storyline.

– Once again, the six-man tag match to end the show was good and gave you more Don Callis and Bryan Danielson on commentary and set up the Mark Briscoe vs. Kyle Fletcher TNT Title match for WrestleDream as well as set up the Tag Title match with Brodido vs. Kazuchika Okada & Konsuke Takeshita. All are intriguing matchups that should deliver at the PPV.

MISSES

HURT SYNDICATE/DEMAND OUT OF ORDER?

Why are getting a six-man tornado tag match with The Hurt Syndicate and The Demand at WrestleDream when we just got a street fight between them a week ago? This is an example of a match that certainly could have been left off the PPV, especially since we got another tag match between the two teams on Dynamite It’s just too much and makes it hard to get excited about what’s to come this weekend, even if they made it a tornado tag. I like both teams, but they need to move on from each other. The street fight should have been the blowoff.

TOO MANY MULTI-PERSON MATCHES

That sure was a lot of multi-person matches on a three-hour broadcast. While I understand their need to get as many wrestlers on the show and preview WrestleDream this weekend without any of the main participants taking falls, this could have been better executed. Why not have some singles matches to determine opponents for the PPV matches lower on the card? Why not have a tag match that gives the winner a spot in the show or have a match for a stipulation. There were no stakes in 90 percent of the matches on Dynamite this week and that is a problem that should be fixed immediately.

Even close proximity to a global superstar cannot divert Scotlandâ€s attention from their World Cup dream. Or is it a teenage one? Katy Perry shared a city centre hotel with Steve Clarke and his squad this week as the singerâ€s Lifetimes Tour stopped off in Glasgow. Clarke did not quite go as far as saying, “Katy who?†but he was nonplussed by his squad rubbing shoulders with a bestselling artist.

“Was she?†said Clarke when asked about Perryâ€s whereabouts. “I didnâ€t know she was there. Iâ€ve heard the name and Iâ€m sure if you played me a couple of her songs Iâ€d say: ‘I recognise that one.†But I couldnâ€t name you one of her songs. Thatâ€s no disrespect to Katy but Iâ€m from a different generation.†Pressed on whether he would even recognise Perry, Clarke – by now laughing – added: “Eh, no. And she wouldnâ€t recognise me.†This very much feels like two worlds that should never collide.

Clarke was understandably more serious on the challenge likely to arrive from Greece on Thursday as Scotland kick off a crucial double-header. Belarus also visit Hampden Park on Sunday, as Scotland look to build on the positive World Cup-qualifying opening provided by four points out of an available six.

The backdrop is a curious one. Rangers†sacking of Russell Martin, with Steven Gerrard to hold talks over a return to Ibrox, and off-field rumblings at Celtic mean the national teamâ€s matches have rather crept up on even seasoned observers. Even Hearts†high-flying domestic start and woes at Aberdeen have felt more prevalent in Scottish football discourse. “I do glance through the headlines sometimes and itâ€s been strange in the buildup to such a big game that the national team has not been the main headline,†said Clarke. “But listen, thatâ€s the nature of football in Scotland.

“The players understand that every game in a qualification process is important, to get as many points as you can. We managed to pick up four points in the two away games last month and we hope to pick up as many as we can this month and that will put us in a good place going into November. The players understand what they have to do.â€

The Greece clash will mean Clarke matches the late Craig Brownâ€s record of 71 games in charge of his country. Somewhat typically, the 62-year-old has no desire to focus on personal landmarks. “I havenâ€t really thought about it, I have to be honest,†said Clarke. “Having had a half-decent career as a player and a half-decent career up to now as a manager and a head coach … I donâ€t think Iâ€m finished yet. Let me finish and then look back and I will tell you exactly how I feel about it.

“I have enjoyed it. When you take the job you donâ€t think youâ€re going to be in for six and a bit years with so many games under your belt. I have been lucky enough to work with a really good, consistent squad of players who have done ever so well for me. All my coaches have helped me and to get to this stage is been really nice. But at the moment my focus is only on qualifying for the World Cup next year.â€

Greece landed in Scotland with confidence, having swaggered to a 3-0 Nations League win at Hampden Park in March. “The players did not quite hit the heights that they had before,†said Clarke of that wounding encounter. “So if this is a chance to make amends, hopefully that is what we do.â€

Jack Perry on AEW Dynamite

AEW/Lee South

2019 was a pivotal year for “Jungle Boy” Jack Perry both professionally and personally. On the professional front, Jack was one of the first people to sign for All Elite Wrestling and was immediately positioned as one of the brightest young stars the company had to offer. However, he was going through a very dark time on a personal level as his father, acclaimed actor Luke Perry, suffered two strokes and tragically passed away on March 4 at the age of 52. Luke never got to see his son wrestle on national television, but he can take solace in that Jack revealed in a recent interview with TVInsider that AEW helped him through such a turbulent time in his life.

“I felt very lucky I had something I could pour my entire self into. I was already obsessed with wrestling before that happened, but when it happened, it was right at the same time AEW was taking off. It was like my childhood dream was coming true. It just gave me something I could escape into and at all times work towards being better at. Whether that was wrestling or just being in the gym, it gave me a place I could go and occupy my mind with. I felt very grateful for that because not a lot of people have that. It ended up being a very good support system as well. I had some friends already and met some of the best friends I have now. I just feel it was a real positive thing for me, especially during that time of my life.”

Jack noted that signing for AEW and having his dad pass away was the best and worst thing to ever happen to him taking place at the same time, but that he is grateful to all the people who supported him during AEW’s formative days, and he is excited to see what the future has in store for him.

Perry Tole, the 69-year-old truck driver who was allegedly involved in an altercation with former NFL quarterback and Fox Sports analyst Mark Sanchez in Indianapolis this past weekend, has been released from the hospital.

Attorneys Erik May and Eddie Reichert spoke to TMZ on Monday to provide an update on Tole’s recovery:

“He’s released from the hospital, recovering, and hopeful that he’ll regain function to, you know, his ability to speak,” May said. “Right now he’s having a real difficult time communicating because of the large gash on his face that affected his jaw, tongue and mouth. He’s just at home resting, but we expect further medical treatment and ongoing treatment well into the future.”

Tole’s son’s wedding is scheduled for this weekend, and his lawyers said he will now have to miss the celebration following the incident with Sanchez, who was hospitalized after being stabbed during the altercation.

“We’re just all really thankful that he’s still with us,” May said. “Anytime a 69-year-old gets into any kind of scrum, you worry about what the health consequences of something like that is gonna be. It’s not every day you get in a scrum with a 6’2″, 230-pound, ex-professional athlete.”

On Monday, Tole filed a lawsuit against Sanchez alleging assault and battery. He also filed a lawsuit against Fox alleging negligent hiring, retention and supervision. He asserted that he suffered injuries to his head, jaw and neck, and he’s seeking compensatory and punitive damages.

Marion County prosecutor Ryan Mears announced Monday that a felony battery charge has been filed against Sanchez for his alleged role in the incident. The charge carries a potential penalty of one to six years in prison.

Jack Perry has been through quite a bit since the launch of AEW back in 2019.

All Elite Wrestling‘s Jack Perry recently sat down with Scott Fishman of TVInsider. When asked about the passing of his father, Luke Perry, the same year that AEW launched as a company, Jack said it was the best thing to ever happen to him, along with the worst thing to ever happen to him at the same time.

“It was the best thing to ever happen to me with the worst thing to ever happen to me. They kind of went hand-in-hand,†Jack Perry admitted. “It was an interesting time. Iâ€m very grateful to have had this in my life and be a part of it with the people who have been there. Iâ€m looking forward to the future.â€Â

The launch of AEW was an escape for Jack Perry

When asked if All Elite Wrestlingâ€s launch helped him get through that difficult point in his life, Perry said he was very lucky to have something he could pour himself into.

“I felt very lucky I had something I could pour my entire self into,†Jack Perry said. “I was already obsessed with wrestling before that happened, but when it happened, it was right at the same time AEW was taking off. It was like my childhood dream was coming true. It just gave me something I could escape into and at all times work towards being better at.

“Whether that was wrestling or just being in the gym, it gave me a place I could go and occupy my mind with. I felt very grateful for that because not a lot of people have that. It ended up being a very good support system as well. I had some friends already, and met some of the best friends I have now. Did you enjoy the “Four Pillars†storyline in AEW? Jack Perry sure didnâ€t.

All Elite Wrestling‘s Jack Perry recently sat down with Haley Miller of VICE. When asked about the four-pillar storyline with himself, MJF, Darby Allin, and Sammy Guevara, Perry revealed that the storyline was the most miserable he had ever been.

“The pillars thing up to that point was the most miserable I had ever been, I didnâ€t wanna do that at that time,†Jack Perry said. “I literally said, I begged, I was like, ‘Can we do this later? I feel like this is only really benefiting one person. And we all could grow so much more.†I had just beaten Christian when that happened and then Christian got injured and that whole thing took way longer than it was supposed to.

“I was kinda floating around killing time until he got back so I could beat him. After I beat him, the next thing I got put in was that. I was like, ‘Could you guys let me get going a little bit? Sammy could be built up even more, Darby, and this could be a huge thing where any one of us could win the world title at the end of this.

Jack Perry believes the “Four Pillars†storyline resulted in fans not liking him

“I felt so not good about what I was doing at the point I was at. I really felt people were starting to turn on me a little there. And I thought, ‘I think I should lean into that and like make this story here. Am I gonna turn to win the world title?†That was met with people being like, ‘No, you gotta stay [face]! Youâ€re Jungle Boy,†yeah, but Jungle Boy has nothing to say and people are starting to not like me. As soon as I started to tease that I was gonna go the other way, people were interested again because I was interested again.

“The heel turn was like a whole new world for me. My main thing there was people told me, ‘youâ€re never gonna be able to be a heel.†I knew I could. Obviously, I wasnâ€t the greatest in the world. There were parts of it that were rocky and I had to figure it out â€cause Iâ€d been Jungle Boy my whole life. To me, it was just to prove that I could do it.â€

Now back in AEW after a long absence, Jack Perry is ready to show fans a new side of Jurassic Express.

Perry joined forces with Luchasaurus at All Out earlier this month, reuniting their team that was one of the most popular acts during the early years of AEW. It marked Perry’s return to AEW after having been away from TV since late 2024.

Though he’s back to being more of a babyface, Perry told Vice that he likes when that designation isn’t so black and white. He thinks Jurassic Express will have a darker vibe in this reunion run.

“It was interesting with the Scapegoat thing because I would get a mixed reaction. At certain times, I almost felt like a babyface. My idea was, Iâ€m not the bad guy, Iâ€m really the ultimate good guy here,” Perry said.

“I think itâ€s more interesting when itâ€s not so black and white and I think even if itâ€s leaning more towards the babyface side, I think thereâ€s definitely a darker vibe with both of us than there was before. Itâ€s a story, itâ€s always evolving. We are evolving. The sort of world that we are in is evolving. I think the more we can be open to that the more interesting itâ€ll be and the better it is.â€

Jurassic Express had one reign as AEW Tag Team Champions in 2022, while Perry and Luchasaurus have each held the TNT title individually.

Perry told Vice that a Jurassic Express reunion was always going to happen at some point — and he believes their popular “Tarzan Boy” theme music is here to stay for this run.

On AEW Dynamite’s sixth anniversary episode this Wednesday, Jurassic Express will officially make their return to the show. Opponents for their first match back have not been announced yet.

“In terms of physicality, this is the longest that Iâ€ve gone [without wrestling] in my life since I was like 16 or 17 years old,” Perry said. “Iâ€m sure itâ€s gonna feel absolutely horrible the day after my first match back; thatâ€s just part of the game. But Iâ€m looking forward to it.â€
