It was a bittersweet night at TNA Victory Road as Ash By Elegance announced that she’d be stepping away from in-ring action and accordingly vacating the TNA Knockouts Championship she had won just a month earlier. Within hours, Ash’s former protege Kelani Jordan then claimed the title for herself by conquering a battle royal and Lei Ying Lee. While appearing on the “Battleground Podcast,” Jordan reflected on her Knockouts Championship win.
“It doesn’t feel real,” she said. “It’s honestly like just a surreal moment. I still feel like I’m in a fever dream because I never would have thought in a billion years that I would have an action figure. And also being able to be champion, it’s crazy.
“The day was crazy. I was not expecting that,” she continued. “Of course, I believe in myself and all that, but I was not expecting that. It was my first time in TNA. When I found out Ash was vacating the title, I did feel sad because I know how much she cares, how much she wanted to elevate that title. Also, Ash has a special place in my heart because she was my mentor here in NXT. So I’m happy that I was able to get the title from her and be able to carry what she wanted to do.”
Following her triumph at Victory Road, Jordan faced the first test of her Knockouts Championship reign when she defended the title against Indi Hartwell at TNA Bound For Glory. Hartwell, the in-ring veteran, put up a valiant effort against the former gymnast, but it wasn’t enough to defeat her. Jordan retained the Knockouts Championship by nailing Hartwell with a split legged moonsault.

This past Saturday at NXT No Mercy, Ricky Saints put an end to Oba Femi’s 263-day NXT Championship reign in the main event of the show, becoming the 34th star to win the title in the history of the brand. Since losing the championship, many fans have questioned if Femi could be main roster bound in the near future, but according to ECW legend Tommy Dreamer, it’s still too soon to call up the 27-year-old.
Speaking on “Busted Open Radio,” Dreamer explained that he questions Femi’s ability to perform at the main roster level at the moment, stating that he wishes WWE had more live events so he could be better prepared.
“I wish they had live events. I think he had a great match with Ricky Saints and there’s a big difference when you start to go as we always say ‘deep in the water,’ and deep in the water is time. When you start hitting that past 10 minutes or then into 15 where you’re able to pull those moments out and if you’re looking at a lot of segments on both ‘Raw’ and ‘SmackDown’ and they’re wrestling in commercial break. You have to really look at like hey can you go at that high level? And continue to keep up that pace, that’s a key thing. I would say question mark right now … tempted? Yes. Would I? No.”
Since No Mercy, there’s been an update regarding Femi’s status going forward, with the “Wrestling Observer Newsletter’s” Dave Meltzer reporting that “The Ruler” is expected to remain with “WWE NXT” for the time being instead of heading to the main roster.

“WWE NXT” star Je’Von Evans gave an excellent performance in his second-ever “WWE SmackDown” match on Friday night, but it was Sami Zayn to successfully defend his United States Championship in his fourth defense since beginning his US title open challenge. Evans answered the challenge, as the blue brand was live from Orlando, Florida, near WWE’s Performance Center.
Evans had an impressive showing, flying around the ring in attempts to take Zayn off his feet and keep him there. He hit a huge springboard on Zayn and dropkicked him through the ropes, but before he could fly out of the ring to take Zayn out, the champion hit him with a clothesline.
The challenger avoided the Blue Thunder Bomb and got Zayn on the top turnbuckle, but Zayn chopped him and dropped “The Young OG” to the canvas. With Zayn still up top, Evans jumped back up to hit him with a hurricanrana. Zayn caught Evans and hit him with an Exploder into the turnbuckle, but Evans dodged the following Helluva Kick. He dodged a second kick and hit the OG Cutter for a near fall.
Zayn was able to connect with the Helluva Kick on his third attempt and followed it up with the Blue Thunder Bomb for the victory. After the match, Zayn showed “The Young OG” some respect.
