NEW YORK – It was more than two decades ago when Derek Jeter, running at full speed in pursuit of a pop fly against the Red Sox, made a fateful decision – he would not slow, permitting the field-level seats at Yankee Stadium to serve as his landing pad.
Jeter emerged a bloodied hero that night in the summer of 2003, a play distilled to two words – ‘The Dive†– that scarcely escaped mention in his career write-ups over the years to come. Of course Ryan McMahon has seen the highlight. Everyone has.
“No, weâ€re not going to do that,†McMahon said after the Yankees†4-0 win in Thursdayâ€s Game 3 of the American League Wild Card Series, with a laugh. “Thatâ€s a completely different scale. But thank you.â€
The Yankees should be the ones thanking McMahon, whose fearless sprint to secure Jarren Duranâ€s eighth-inning pop-up was arguably the defensive play of the series.
“Thatâ€s why we got him,†captain Aaron Judge said. “You go out there and get the best [defensive] third baseman for a reason. Heâ€s come up with some big clutch hits for us throughout the year; he had a walk-off already. Itâ€s plays like that in crunch time. Thatâ€s why you go out there and get a guy like that.â€
Playing behind Cam Schlittler in his final inning of a magnificent 12-strikeout performance, McMahon hit the railing at full speed, flipping into a sea of Boston red occupying the visiting dugout.
“The adrenaline kicked in and I didnâ€t really feel anything,†McMahon said. “Iâ€m sure I hit everything in that dugout, though. I was just excited to get out of there after I caught it.â€
“To be here playing games with these guys, in front of this crowd — the place was electric all night,†McMahon said. “Itâ€s really fun.â€
Stephanie McMahon and Triple H visit the White House again.
On Tuesday, USA President Donald Trump signed an executive order to employ artificial intelligence (AI) for childhood cancer research, with $50 million accordingly being added to the Childhood Cancer Data Initiative. According to Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, the order is all about “action, unlocking cures, empowering families, and giving every child the chance to grow up healthy and strong.â€
WWE Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H†Levesque and former WWE executive Stephanie McMahon were in attendance for the signing, which took place at the White House in Washington, D.C. In 2014, Triple H and Stephanie established Connorâ€s Cure, a campaign aimed at raising funds to support pediatric cancer research. In 2025, McMahon helped lead the charge to make the latest executive order.
“I cannot begin to describe how proud I am of @StephMcMahon,†Triple H wrote on X alongside of photo himself, Stephanie, Linda McMahon, Trump, and others present at the White House meeting. “Her dedication to @ConnorsCure and tireless advocacy in the fight against pediatric cancer over the past decade has been truly inspiring. Todayâ€s Executive Order, which she spearheaded, marks a historic breakthrough in this incredibly important cause.â€
“With Connor in my heart and you by my side, anything is possible,†Stephanie wrote in response, referencing Connor Michalek, the young boy who inspired Connorâ€s Cure. Michalek sadly died in 2014 after battling medulloblastoma, a rare tumor affecting the brain and spine.

Triple H & Stephanie McMahon were at The White House.
Both were seen on Tuesday at the Oval Office as President Trump signed executive orders. Stephanie took time to speak to reporters about one of the orders, which relates to using AI to help improve treatments for childhood cancer. Stephanie spoke about her and WWEâ€s relationship with Connor Michalek, a young WWE fan who fought cancer.
“Kids shouldnâ€t even know what cancer is, let alone have to face it. And this incredible team believes that too. This executive order makes kids with cancer the first focus of AI innovation across health care in America,” she said. “If there is one thing in the world that could bring us together, please let it be our children because I can almost guarantee if your child was diagnosed with cancer, you wouldnâ€t care what party your doctor belonged to, you would just want the best. And President Trump is doing just that, enabling every child with cancer gets the best care possible. And we couldnâ€t be more grateful.”
The charity fund Conor’s Cure was established by WWE in 2014 to support pedicatric cancer research across cancer centers worldwide. Triple H and Stephanie McMahon are part of the Presidentâ€s Council on Sports, Fitness, and Nutrition. Triple H is the vice-chair of the Presidentâ€s Council on Sports, Fitness, and Nutrition. Earlier this year, he and Stephanie visited the US Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr, who was also in attendance Tuesday.
The McMahon family continues to have a strong relationship with President Trump during his second term, with Linda McMahon serving as the current Secretary of Education. She was at the Oval Office on Tuesday and spoke briefly to praise Stephanie for her efforts.

The legal pressure on Vince McMahon and several current and former WWE executives continues to mount as more subpoenas have been filed in the Delaware Chancery Court shareholder lawsuit.
According to recent filings, John Laurinaitis—who was once a top WWE executive but is not a defendant in the case—was scheduled to be deposed on September 26 via Zoom from his attorneyâ€s office in Florida. McMahonâ€s longtime personal assistants, brothers Paul and Michael “Mickey†Mangieri, have also been subpoenaed to produce documents related to the case.
The scope of the lawsuit has expanded beyond WWE leadership. Liberty Media, owners of Formula 1, and private equity powerhouse KKR are set to be questioned under oath, with Liberty Mediaâ€s designated representatives scheduled for depositions on September 30 and KKR partner Ted Oberwager on October 30. While not confirmed, both companies are believed to have been possible suitors for WWE before its eventual merger with Endeavorâ€s UFC.
The case alleges that McMahon had predetermined the outcome of the merger, steering the process toward Endeavor because it was the only deal that would guarantee him a continued role within the company. Plaintiffs argue that other potential buyers would not have allowed McMahon to remain after the fallout of his 2022 sexual misconduct scandal. Current WWE executives Nick Khan and Paul “Triple H†Levesque, along with former board members George Barrios and Michelle Wilson, are also named as defendants for allegedly failing to act in shareholders†best interests.
Several figures have already sat for depositions, including TKO CFO Andrew Schleimer and independent WWE board members at the time of the merger: Steve Koonin, Steve Pamon, Man Jit Singh, and Jeffrey Speed. More depositions are scheduled through November, with attorneys building their case around whether the merger process was conducted in good faith.
While deposition transcripts and subpoenaed documents remain confidential for now, portions may become public if filed as exhibits in motions or trial proceedings later on. McMahon is being represented by Kirkland & Ellis, while Khan, Levesque, and the other board member defendants are represented by Latham & Watkins.
This lawsuit has received less attention than McMahonâ€s other legal battles because itâ€s being fought in Delaware Chancery Court, a less accessible venue compared to the federal cases that have generated headlines. Still, with discovery well underway, it could emerge as one of the most damaging cases tied to WWEâ€s controversial merger process.
Do you think the shareholder lawsuit will ultimately expose more about Vince Mc Mahonâ€s handling of the WWE–Endeavor merger? Please share your thoughts and feedback in the comment section below.

Stephanie McMahon was announced as the first inductee into the 2026 WWE Hall of Fame during WrestlePalooza last week. While fans are happy for this achievement, Stevie Richards has made it clear that she doesnâ€t deserve a spot there at all.
While speaking on the Stevie Richards Show, Stevie Richards explained why he thinks Stephanie McMahon should not be in the WWE Hall of Fame. He said that as a writer, her work belongs in a Hall of Shame instead.
In his opinion, Shane McMahon deserves it much more because of his big matches, great promos, and exciting moments that go back to the Corporate Ministry era. Richards believes Shaneâ€s career clearly earns him a Hall of Fame spot long before Stephanie.
“Does Stephanie McMahon deserve to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame? No. As a writer, she deserves to never be in the Hall of Fame. Iâ€m serious. That should be in the Hall of Shame. Shane by a mile deserves it more than Stephanie for just the performance and the memorable moments in his matches and how he still could cut a promo. He still did what he did even way back in the Corporate Ministry days. Shane would deserve it. Itâ€s still enough body of work where Shane deserves to be in the Hall of Fame long before Stephanie. Way before Stephanie.â€
Richards said Stephanie was good on TV for about a year, but after that she came and went. She was a General Manager for a while, disappeared for years, and later came back with Triple H in the Authority storyline. At first fans were excited, but weekly Authority promos quickly became boring and hurt the shows.
Richards explained that in her early days, when Vince McMahon was guiding things, Stephanieâ€s character often got what she deserved, which made her stories fun. But later Vince became too protective, and she stopped facing consequences. Instead, she became an overpowering figure, often slapping wrestlers on TV without ever letting them hit back.
Richards compared this to Vince, who always let himself look silly and take heat, which made his character stronger. He believes that Stephanie, Vince, or Triple H later took her character too seriously, making her seem untouchable and unstoppable.
“Stephanie was really good on screen for about a year and then she disappeared. Then she was the GM and then she was just there and then she sort of went back to mousy Stephanie and then she disappeared for years. Then she came back and then she was the B+ player version of Stephanie McMahon with Triple H that went, oh, those Authority promos that opened the show. And people the first week were like, ‘Oh my god, Stephanieâ€s back. This is so great.†Itâ€s like, boy, are you going to be disappointed when this is every single week. It was pulling teeth. They made the show worse.
Stephanie McMahon was great in the early days when Vince McMahon was basically directing, and at some point he got so overprotective of Stephanie that it went from she would get a comeuppance every single week to she would never get a comeuppance. Then all she is is this oppressive, looming figure with every wrestler under her thumb every single week. She slapped them—she slapped multiple wrestlers every single week—and they never got any heat back on her.
I remember someone once, years ago, when I said that, they were like, ‘Oh, didnâ€t you watch that WrestleMania?†I was like, ‘You mean where she tripped and fell over on her own steam, and it happens once every two years?†Vince McMahon—you couldnâ€t get enough heat on that guy or make him look stupid enough, and he got better every week because of it. Stephanie McMahon—just, I donâ€t know.
Someone started taking her character too seriously, whether it was her, whether it was Vince, or whether it was Triple H, saying, ‘No, you shouldnâ€t be doing all these things and you should be stronger and more important and more indestructible than everybody else,†as far as a character point of view.â€
While WWE praises Stephanie McMahon as a trailblazer worthy of the Hall of Fame, Stevie Richards strongly disagrees. Therefore, itâ€s clear not everyone is supportive of Stephanie McMahon in the WWE Hall of Fame and itâ€s not hard to see why.

When David Otunga stormed the ring with the Nexus in one of the most chaotic and memorable WWE moments of the PG era, fans thought it was just an edgy storyline. But according to Otunga, the entire angle was real, and so were the stakes—because Vince McMahon flat-out told them theyâ€d be fired if it didnâ€t look violent enough.
During his appearance on TMZâ€s Inside The Ring, Otunga gave an unfiltered look at what really went down behind the scenes before the Nexus invasion of Monday Night RAW in June 2010. As Otunga recalled, all eight NXT rookies were summoned to the show the week after the NXT finale with no idea what was going on. Nobody talked to them all day. Then, moments before the live broadcast, they were called into Vince McMahonâ€s office. Otunga said Vince McMahon and Michael Hayes laid out the shocking directive:
“Look, this is whatâ€s going to happen. We want you to go down, storm the main event. We want you to wreak havoc and tear everything up. Beat up John Cena, beat up CM Punk, everybody. The announcer, the timekeeper, tear the ring up. Weâ€re going to give you box cutters and stuff. Tear the place apart. And if it doesnâ€t look vicious enough—youâ€re fired.â€
Otunga admitted that as a relatively new talent with barely a handful of matches under his belt, he was terrified—and things got real quickly. He was given the responsibility to throw the very first punch of the ambush, and it had to be on referee Chad Patton. It wasnâ€t just a worked punch either.
“I had to throw the first punch on Chad Patton, the referee, and it had to look good,†Otunga said. “Vince said, ‘Hey, if it doesnâ€t look good, youâ€re fired.†I was like, ‘Well, we gotta really start.†Chad Patton, sorry buddy, but youâ€re going to have to eat one.â€
The angle looked so real that even the live crowd believed it had spiraled out of control.
“After we beat up everybody at the announce table, a fan reached over the railing and started ringing the ring bell—to get help,†he revealed.
Even WWE talent backstage didnâ€t know it was a work. Some were apparently ready to jump the Nexus in the locker room after the segment because they thought it was a real shoot.
Otunga also addressed the controversial firing of Daniel Bryan, who was released by WWE shortly after the segment aired for choking announcer Justin Roberts with his tie—an image that reportedly violated PG-era guidelines.
“They told us to go hard or we were fired. They never told us what the line was. In fact, they told us, ‘Go too hard and weâ€ll pull you back,â€â€ Otunga explained. “Daniel Bryan got fired for choking Justin Roberts… and I didnâ€t necessarily agree with it. He was doing what they told him to do.â€
Looking back, Otunga said that the Nexus invasion was successful because it felt authentic—because it was. The group didnâ€t know if they were still employed and were literally fighting for their careers on live television. That sense of desperation, combined with Vinceâ€s cutthroat instruction, turned the segment into something unforgettable.
It wasnâ€t just a storyline. It was a career-defining moment where failure meant getting fired on the spot.
Do you think Vince McMahon went too far with his demands during the Nexus invasion? Should Daniel Bryan have been fired for simply following orders? Drop your thoughts in the comments—we want to hear from you.

An interesting rule from Vince McMahon’s recent birthday gathering was disclosed by one of the attendees.
McMahon celebrated his 80th birthday at a private party at Waverly Inn in New York City. Some of the notable guests were John Cena, The Undertaker, Shane McMahon, Jerry ‘The King’ Lawler, and Theodore Long, among others.
A photo was shared by Lawler on social media, which included himself, Drew McIntyre, Sheamus, Titus O’Neil, Maryse, and The Miz. However, he was asked to delete the post for privacy purposes.
Wrestling veteran, Sgt. Slaughter, was also one of the personalities who went to New York City to celebrate the former WWE Chairman’s birthday. During his interview with Bill Apter on Sportskeeda WrestleBinge, Slaughter recalled how Vince McMahon opened up the festivities in a grand way.
While the moment was great, the WWE Hall of Famer revealed that no cellphones were allowed, as there were designated cameras assigned to take pictures. He added that the guests would only be able to use their phones by going outside or leaving the room to contact someone, especially if it was important.
Nobody was allowed to have cellphone. You either had to leave them in your room or check them at the door when you came in. And, if you needed to call someone, you’d have to go outside and do it. Nobody was allowed to take pictures. They had cameras there for their purposes but nobody was allowed to have a cellphone out and take pictures,” Slaughter said.

The Undertaker revealed the reasons why Stephanie McMahon was inducted into the 2026 Hall of Fame.
The WWE Universe was treated to a heartfelt moment when The Undertaker posted a new behind-the-scenes reel explaining McMahonâ€s surprise induction into the 2026 WWE Hall of Fame. In the Instagram reel, he shows backstage clips from Wrestlepalooza, starting with his arrival on the iconic Harley-Davidson. He then meets McMahon, who is visibly moved. As they sit together, he greets the crowd and introduces her as the first member of the 2026 class.
He called it an incredible moment.
Itâ€s an incredible moment, so well deserved.”
Adding to it, Taker listed some of the special qualities of McMahon that separated her from the others.
Her contributions to WWE – they are just too numerous to begin to list. Stephanie has just always been there with a smile on her face, an ear if someone needs to listen to something, someone to bounce ideas off of. Sheâ€s done just about everything, every role thatâ€s in the industry, and sheâ€s done it at a very high level.”
Fans have followed McMahon’s career since she first appeared on television in 1999. Over more than two decades, she has held roles in creative, marketing, and talent relations. She played a key part in launching the first womenâ€s Royal Rumble in 2018 and led social media campaigns that grew a global audience.
Her work during talent scouting and live event production helped shape how fans experience wrestling today. Many colleagues and superstars have praised her loyalty, leadership, and passion for the business.
The Importance of Stephanie McMahon’s WWE HOF Induction
McMahon always showed she was more than a second-generation star. In 2006, she joined the creative team, overseeing storylines that connected with fans worldwide. She later became Chief Brand Officer, working to integrate WWE into mainstream culture. Under her guidance, the company expanded partnerships with major media outlets and launched new programming that highlighted women athletes.
She led campaigns supporting military families and raised funds for childrenâ€s hospitals. Behind every big event, McMahon was often the one coordinating details, from stage design to broadcast schedules. Her Hall of Fame induction marks the end of one chapter and the start of another.

Matt Hardy is one of the most creative wrestlers when it comes to characters in modern day wrestling history, with his “Broken” Matt Hardy gimmick getting over in TNA. The character feuded with his brother in the infamous “Final Deletion” match which inspired many other cinematic matches, including “Woken” Matt Hardy’s “Ultimate Deletion” match against Bray Wyatt in WWE. Vince McMahon was notoriously never a fan of Hardy’s “Broken” character, and Hardy explained a spot on “The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy“ that he didn’t get to do with Wyatt during their match when McMahon nixed it right before filming.
“I was going to come out of [a] tree and do a leg drop,” Hardy explained. “I was going to put Bray on the bottom table, there was going to be a table on top… I was going to do the table sandwich like Jeff did to me at WrestleMania 25 and Bray was going to get out of the way and I was going to go through the tables… So, we were about to shoot that scene and I was like, ‘Oh, this is gonna be cool…’ I was excited for that and Vince heard we were going to do this. [He said] ‘Oh, god, no. Sounds like too much f****** hokey wrestling in this already.”
Hardy said that McMahon wanted to change another spot last minute. He explained that when Wyatt went into the Lake of Reincarnation, McMahon wanted him to come back out “like Jason Voorhees” with a fish in his mouth, then sink back in. Hardy laughed and explained they were filming at 2 a.m. and had no way to get a fish for the spot.
