During the first ODI match between India vs Australia at the Optus Stadium in Perth, Rohit Sharma became the fifth Indian cricketer to play 500 international matches. In this elite group, he joins Rahul Dravid, MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli, and Sachin Tendulkar. In addition, Rohit made his first appearance in ODI cricket since he helped India win the ICC Champions Trophy final in Dubai in March 2025.

Across 499 matches before this game, Rohit scored 19,700 runs at an average of 42.18, with 49 centuries and 108 half-centuries, including a career-best score of 264. In ODIs alone, he has accumulated 11,168 runs in 273 matches at an average of 48.76 and a strike rate of 92.80, with 32 centuries and 58 fifties. Rohit needs just 54 more runs to surpass Sourav Gangulyâ€s 11,221 ODI runs and become Indiaâ€s third-highest run-scorer in the format.

He is also just three centuries away from completing 20,000 international runs and would become the 14th player and only the fourth Indian to reach that milestone. With 49 international centuries so far, Rohit is one century short of his 50th, a feat achieved by only nine cricketers in history, including two Indians, Sachin Tendulkar (100) and Virat Kohli (82).

Sunday spoiled: Rohit Sharma fails on ODI return in Perth

Rohit Sharmaâ€s return to ODI cricket after seven months ended in disappointment as he was dismissed for just eight runs during Indiaâ€s first ODI against Australia at Optus Stadium, Perth, on October 19, 2025. His dismissal, along with Virat Kohliâ€s eight-ball duck, drew strong criticism from Indian fans online.

IcecricNews Banner

The much-hyped comeback of the veteran duo turned sour early in the innings. Rohit edged a Josh Hazlewood delivery to the second slip after scoring eight off 14 balls, while Kohli was caught at backward point without scoring. Both players, who retired from Tests and T20Is but aim to feature in the 2027 ODI World Cup, failed to make an impact in their return to international action. Captain Shubman Gill also managed only 10 off 18 balls, underlining the teamâ€s lack of preparation.

“All the hype goes downâ€: Fans criticize Kohliâ€s early wicket and Rohitâ€s low-score return

Rohit Sharmaâ€s early dismissal received a lot of reactions from fans on social media. Many pointed out the lack of match practice as a major reason behind their struggles, noting that both had been away from international cricket for months. Many expressed anger at the way he got out, while some used humor to comment on the situation.

One fan wrote, “Happy Retirement Rohit Sharma,†while another joked, “Rohit sacrificed his wicket so that fans can watch Virat Kohli. Most selfless cricketer of all time. RO-KO.†Others criticized his technique and performance, saying, “Rohit Sharma looked so ugly in his short innings & got out playing a nothing shot†and “Never seen Rohit Sharma look so uncomfortable playing white ball in recent years. Ended up throwing his wicket, unfortunately.â€

Some fans tried to be more supportive, tweeting, “Rohit 0 saal tak upcoming talent tha. Sabr karo bhai,†highlighting his long career and urging patience. Others sarcastically summed up the teamâ€s struggles: “Rohit on 8, Virat Kohli on 0, and Shubman Gill on 10, go out. What a great comeback and performance from all the players. The Indian cricket team is waving slowly.â€

SPOTLIGHTED PODCAST ALERT (YOUR ARTICLE BEGINS A FEW INCHES DOWN)…

At WWE Crown Jewel we had what many are calling – and Iâ€m on their side – the Match of the Year, at least in WWE. It was the face of a previous version of WWE in John Cena against the same from TNA in A.J. Styles.

These were “The Guys†the company, including any storylines, merchandise, or media presence. Both have grown to become classy acts who are confident in who they are as characters and were able to deliver a crowd-pleasing match that paid tribute to both careers that are winding down.

Many other characters have left WWE to “Cross the Line†to TNA, or made the switch from the smaller company to the true big league. There were matches we saw that we never thought weâ€d get, especially after A.J.â€s debut. There were some matches that were left on the table, though, that we havenâ€t yet seen, or will not get the opportunity to, but it was fun to come up with five dream matches roughly from 2001-2014 era TNA vs WWE.

The Motor City Machine Guns vs. The Usos

The best home-grown TNA tag team vs. who I think is the greatest tag team of all time. The energy of the performers, the fans in the area, and the moves within the match alone could be off the charts in front of the right audience.

The story: Chris Sabin & Alex Shelley have been around as a tag team longer, and have succeeded in every promotion theyâ€ve been involved with, and still have the athleticism to wow an audience. As for the Usos, while Jimmy and Jey have not been a tag team as long, or had titles outside of WWE, theyâ€ve defended for years against the best of the best at a high level. Who is the better team?

Outcome: Usoâ€s in a match of the year contender

Kurt Angle vs Dolph Ziggler / Nic Nemeth

While we technically had this match, we also had previously seen John Cena vs. A.J. Styles. Itâ€s about the build this match, as Nemeth is a world class mat wrestler with an incredible list of accolades, but in pro wrestling, heâ€s a guy who was known for selling and having tremendous matches through his amazing talents in telling a physical story.

There was a wrestling machine inside of the former Dolph Zigglar that could have come out. Kurt was able to turn that wrestling machine to a new dial when in TNA, and became an incredible well-rounded performer. I would have loved to see an entire program between these two, bringing that out of Nemeth.

Story: Kurt, returning to WWE, takes shots at Dolph about needing to tighten up and not be so involved with silly nonsense. Challenge him to a wrestling match and ask if Dolph can find the serious side of himself again.

Outcome: after losing the first two matches, the second an even more narrow loss than the first, Zigglar works himself up to one more match where he is able to get a clean win over Kurt, legitimizing Dolph for a new title run.

Samoa Joe vs. C.M. Punk

We did get this match in AEW, but it was tainted with backstage drama. These two made each other IWC famous. It was harder to learn about independent wrestling in the early 2000s. You had to know what sites and forums to go to online or you could read the newsstand wrestling magazines or an insider newsletter such as PWTorch.

Anyone who was involved in that scene knew a couple of names before ever getting a television debut, and those were Samoa Joe and C.M. Punk. The ROH trilogy between them sold a lot of DVDs for a small independent wrestling company. Wrestling fans of that generation were not used to seeing a one-hour Broadway, let alone two in a row for these performers.

They were showing they had the raw skills to hang with the established television stars, and it was going to be a matter of time before each would end up amongst them. They each chose different paths, as C.M. Punk, who had previously had a run in TNA, decided to try to make it in the larger and more “big show atmosphere†of WWE, where he was going to have to work his way up through the developmental program.

Samoa Joe, however, become a featured player on TNA television right away. While I watched Impact as often as I could in that era, I was hooked and started spending on a few PPVs at a time where that was tough to justify. Both became respective world champions, but to see them clash with the lights and storytelling ability WWE could provide or a Punk and Joe TNA reunion, much like the Hardys and Dudleys just had could blow the roof off.

Story: I kind of like the TNA return route. Joe could make an appearance about how successful his run was and list legendary opponents; Punk could come out to say that he was only as successful as he was because Punk decided to go to the big leagues and he let Joe run TNA. Major heel heat for Punk on this match.

Outcome: Joe wins clean as a babyface. Punk had the better career and can afford a loss to his friend.

Abyss vs. Cactus Jack

We got Mick Foley in TNA, but this was far from what Foley was known for. Itâ€s unfortunate that this man who gave us fans too much of himself doesnâ€t get to have the big comeback matches. He had a couple, but seeing wrestlers learn how to have good matches into their 50s and even 60s shows the difference in how Foley sacrificed himself.

Abyss was obviously influenced as a character, but also as a performer by Cactus Jackâ€s work. The master of the death match from two different eras clashing at peak was the dream I wish Foley had been healthy for and would love to have seen this match happen in a WWE ring. Not enough people got to enjoy Abyss.

Story: Mick Foley comes back for a special appearance and is attacked by a deranged Abyss (essentially what they did to get Bray Wyattâ€s Fiend character over). Triple H tries to get ahold of Foley to apologize, but hears nothing back. After a couple of weeks with no word, Triple H only hears from kids and wife that theyâ€ve never seen him like this and he wonâ€t even verbalize himself to his family. Then, when Abyss is about to win a match in an underhanded way, Cactus Jack arrives to interfere, and set up a match between the two.

Outcome: Cactus wins as a conquering hero.

Sting vs. Undertaker

Itâ€s the match we all wanted, and the biggest dream match left on the table from the hot ’90s era – unless youâ€d make the Hulk Hogan vs Steven Austin argument. For a fan who watches the product in a similar way that I read comic books, these are the obvious two. Dark and brooding, but many times the conciseness of the promotions they were in.

The WCW years created an aura, and when Sting said he would rather go to the underdog brand than WWE, it added to it. To have finally seen Sting and Undertaker at a WrestleMania is what we wanted, but instead we got heartbreak.

Story: Icon vs Icon, baby! All we need would be a face off, one to point at a sign, and the other to nod.

Outcome: Undertaker keeps the streak I wish heâ€d never lost.

PHILADELPHIA — Mark Scheifele scored a pair of goals to tie the record for the most career points in Jets franchise history, Connor Hellebuyck made 15 saves, and Winnipeg beat the Philadelphia Flyers 5-2 on Thursday night.

Scheifele tied Blake Wheeler with 812 points for the franchise, which includes the team’s years in Atlanta.

On his first goal, Scheifele fired a snap shot from the right circle past Philadelphia goalie Sam Ersson, beating him over his glove to put the Jets ahead 2-0 at 7:01 of the second period.

His second goal was a one-timer from the left circle on the power play in the third period to extend the lead to 4-1.

Hellebucyk, the reigning Hart and Vezina Trophy winner, won a game in Philadelphia for the first time in his 11-year NHL career. He had lost in each of his four previous tries against the Flyers at Xfinity Mobile Arena.

His team helped him out in the third period, as the defense held the Flyers without a shot on goal for the first 17:39 of the period and held them with a shot at even strength for the entirety of the period.

Vladislav Namestnikov and Morgan Barron also scored goals for the Jets, and Tanner Pearson added an empty-netter to help Winnipeg win their third straight game after losing their season opener against Dallas.

Owen Tippett and Matvei Michkov scored for the Flyers and Ersson finished with 10 saves.

Winnipeg: Returns home to host Nashville on Saturday night.

Philadelphia: Continues its four-game homestand Saturday, hosting Minnesota night.

**********

Pre show.

There was a modest set-up for the Hall of Fame inductions, with a small podium in the back of the arena so it looked like they were surrounded by fans.

Tommy Dreamer inducts the Beautiful People into the TNA Hall of Fame.Dreamer is accompanied by Jazz and TNA President Carlos Silva. Dreamer is here to induct the Beautiful People despite being ugly because Billy Gunn was unavailable. Dreamer quickly brought out Angelina Love & Velvet Sky, who put a paper bag over Tommyâ€s head. This is a full-circle moment for the Beautiful People, who debuted at Bound for Glory in 2007. Love thanked all the women who were in the “Gauntlet for the Gold†match in 2007, and her trainer. She also thanked her trainer, Tommy Dreamer for hiring her (she was his first hire), and “Cute Kip†(aka Billy Gunn). She also thanked The Jarrett Family and Vince Russo, the composer who created their entrance music, and all the production people. Love introduced her family to the crowd and thanked them her support. She apparently bit her sister to get the remote back when she tried to change the channel from wrestling (wish Iâ€d thought of that). She thanked the fans and her partner Velvet Sky, and turned the podium over to her.

Velvet Sky also thanked all the people behind the scenes, and again noted it was a full circle moment for her having gotten her start at Bound for Glory. She also thanked Dreamer and Terry Taylor, Jeff Jarrett and Vince Russo, Jeremy Borash, Mikey Tenay, Don West and Taz. She thanked her parents for their support when she left college to chase her dream as a pro wrestler, her trainer Jason Knight. She thanked Afa and his family for inviting her to wrestle on her WXW shows, where she won her first wrestling championship. Sky also thanked her partner, and told the young girls out there to never stop chasing their dreams. She thanked her extended family and the fans, her “Pigeon Army.†She led the crowd in a chant of “Let the pigeons loose!†to end her speech.Â

Lisa Marie Varon inducts Mickie James into the TNA Hall of Fame.Varon, who was very emotional,  brought out a copy of the TNA Knockouts Championship. Varon wanted to be comfortable so she tossed her heels into the crowd. Varon threw her speech away and spoke from the heart about how James came into WWE “like a Tennessee Tornado.†They did whatever it took to prove that they werenâ€t just the best match “for a womenâ€s match†but for the best match, period. Varon described James as a friend that is there, who shows up.  Varon described Mickie James as a role model “not just in wrestling, but in life.†Honestly, even though she was very emotional,  you couldnâ€t have asked for a better induction from Varon.

The crowd chanted “you deserve it!†for Mickie. James described TNA as “a family.†She thanked Jeff and Jerry Jarrett for taking a chance on “Alexis Laree†and thanked Raven, Julio and CM Park for her early days in TNA (the weekly-ppv days). That was her launching pad to WWE. She then thanked Dixie Carter for convincing her to come back to TNA in 2010 and reinvent herself as “Hardcore Country.†She praised TNA as a company in 2010 who didnâ€t just give women four minute matches, but main events. James got emotional talking about her last TNA run, how she came into a locker room feeling defeated but left feeling vindicated. She praised the loyalty of the TNA fanbase and the “Hardcore Country†fanbase. James thanked her parents for instilling her love for wrestling and not to listen to the naysayers who are afraid to go after your dreams. For her haters, fakers, and under-appreciators, she finished with the lyrics from her “Hardcore Country†song.  Â

WWE could learn something from TNA about keeping these things short and to the point.

Hayter will be in action this Wednesday to take on Blue.

Both are based off of the main event of Collision: FTR will take on Jetspeed while Willow Nightingale & Harley Cameron will take on Megan Bayne and Penelope Ford. WWE has some shocking names planned to be involved in next monthâ€s WarGames match at Survivor Series.

Gone are the days of the old school Survivor Series matches in favor of WarGames. The match type was implemented in the event in 2022. And it has become the focal point of WWEâ€s November premium live event.

With WarGames quickly approaching, we have an early report about who the company plans to feature in this yearâ€s matches. And two of the names are downright shocking.

According to Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, these were the plans for the menâ€s and womenâ€s WarGames matches as of one week ago:

Menâ€s WarGames match: CM Punk, Roman Reigns, Jacob Fatu, Jimmy Uso, and either LA Knight or Jimmy Uso vs. Seth Rollins, Bronson Reed, Bron Breakker, Brock Lesnar, and Austin Theory

Womenâ€s WarGames match: AJ Lee, Rhea Ripley, IYO SKY, Alexa Bliss, and Charlotte Flair vs. Becky Lynch, Asuka, Kairi Sane, Nia Jax, and Lash Legend

The addition of Austin Theory and Lash Legend is particularly shocking. As Theory has been sidelined with an injury for quite some time, while Legend is still working regularly in NXT.

A potential red herring?

Itâ€s worth noting that Meltzer believes some of this will change. This is something many have speculated on since WWE Unreal put a bigger spotlight on creative happenings in recent months. Itâ€s very possible that Theory and Legend being listed for these matches are just red herrings to hide who the company really has planned. However, this is far from confirmed.

For what itâ€s worth, Fightfulâ€s Sean Ross Sapp (via Fightful Select) also looked into this report and was told that it was one of the options they are considering heading into the event.

Stay tuned to WrestleZone for more information as it becomes available.

The first details for this yearâ€s Survivor Series WarGames have leaked, and the potential lineups are already looking massive.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletterreported that WWEâ€s current direction for the November 29 premium live event in San Diego includes two WarGames elimination matches stacked with some of the biggest names in the company.

On the menâ€s side, the plan is for a reunited Bloodline to join forces with CM Punk. The babyface team is currently listed as Punk, Roman Reigns, Jacob Fatu, and Jey Uso, with a fifth mystery partner still undecided. Jimmy Uso and LA Knight are reportedly the frontrunners for that spot.

Theyâ€re expected to battle The Vision in a heel-heavy lineup featuring Seth Rollins, Bron Breakker, Bronson Reed, Brock Lesnar, and Austin Theory. The involvement of Lesnar, given his history with both Punk and Reigns, is already creating buzz backstage, while Theoryâ€s planned return from injury adds another layer of surprise to the mix.

The womenâ€s WarGames match looks just as loaded. WWE is eyeing an all-star babyface team with AJ Lee, Rhea Ripley, Charlotte Flair, Alexa Bliss, and Iyo Sky. Theyâ€re set to go up against Becky Lynch, Asuka, Kairi Sane, Nia Jax, and NXTâ€s Lash Legend in what could be one of the most star-studded womenâ€s matches in years.

The same report also noted that John Cena is scheduled to defend the Intercontinental Championship against Dominik Mysterio at Survivor Series, making it the second-to-last match of his legendary career before retirement in December.

If these lineups hold, Survivor Series WarGames 2025 could deliver two of the biggest multi-star battles WWE has put together in a long time.

Which potential WarGames team are you backing—Punk and The Bloodline or Rollins and The Vision? And how do you see the womenâ€s match playing out? Share your predictions in the comments below.

WUHAN, China — Aryna Sabalenka extended her winning streak at Wuhan to 20 matches with a 6-3, 6-3 victory over eighth-seeded Elena Rybakina on Friday to reach the semifinals of the WTA 1000-level tournament.

The US Open champion won the Wuhan Open title in 2018, ’19 and again last year on her return to the Chinese city.

Top-ranked Sabalenka broke Rybakina’s serve three times in the 1-hour, 25-minute match to advance into the semifinals for the 11th time this season, and then waved and blew kisses to the crowd.

It was also comfortable for third-seeded Coco Gauff, who cruised into a second straight semifinal with a 6-3, 6-0 victory over Laura Siegemund.

The American lost to eventual champion Amanda Anisimova in the final four at the China Open last week.

Gauff will next face either No. 2-ranked Iga Swiatek or Jasmine Paolini, who were playing in the late match.

Sabalenka will play sixth-seeded Jessica Pegula, who earlier Friday went to a third set for a seventh consecutive match. She dropped the first set against Katerina Siniakova before reeling through the next two for a 2-6, 6-0, 6-3 victory.

Pegula is coming off wins over No. 9 Ekaterina Alexandrova and fellow American Hailey Baptiste, when she needed seven match points to clinch the win.
