WWE continues to pack its schedule with special events in the TKO era. As John Cena prepares to work his final dates for the company, a rare appearance is being rumored for the 17-time World Champion after an upcoming special was just announced.
World Wrestling Entertainment has a deep history with Madison Square Garden, billed as the company’s “home office” at one time. MSG hosted WrestleMania 1, 10, and 20, as well as a handful of other WWE Premium Live Events, TV tapings, and non-televised shows. NJPW and ROH ran the legendary venue in 2019.
The World’s Most Famous Arena has also hosted certain wrestling events at The Theater, including Ken Shamrock’s SummerSlam 1998 win over Owen Hart, held in the Lion’s Den. The Theater at MSG hosted WCW’s NYC debut in April 1993, and the promotion’s return in June 1996. WWE brought NXT to The Theater for a non-televised live event in November 2016, then AAA and TNA booked the 5,600-capacity theater in September 2019 for Lucha Invades NY.
WWE returned to The Theater this past March for the history-making fourth annual NXT Roadblock special, and now the brand is heading back to the 58-year-old venue while John Cena wraps his farewell tour. The Cenation leader made his NXT debut appearance on October 10, 2023 for a star-studded episode that went head-to-head with AEW Dynamite, and while not announced as one of his last dates, he is now rumored for another big outing on WWE’s third brand before retiring.
Special WWE NXT Episode Set For The Theater At MSG
WWE announced today that the NXT brand will return to New York City for a special edition of its Tuesday night show on The CW. The episode will air live from The Theater at Madison Square Garden on Tuesday, November 18 at 8pm ET.
The NXT-MSG special is touted as part of John Cena’s farewell tour, but as of this writing, the Hollywood heavyweight has not been confirmed for the broadcast. Cena will be on RAW the night before, November 17, for his farewell at Madison Square Garden. It’s not clear what Cena will be doing at The World’s Most Famous Arena, for RAW or NXT that week.
“The event will feature the biggest Superstars from NXT, including NXT Champion Ricky Saints, NXT Womenâ€s Champion Jacy Jayne, NXT North American Champion Ethan Page, NXT Womenâ€s North American Champion Sol Ruca, Trick Williams and more,” reads the official press release issued today.
Tickets for NXT’s return to NYC will go on sale via Ticketmaster pre-sale at 10am ET on Monday, October 6, with the WWEVIP passcode. The general on-sale will then begin at 10am ET on Wednesday, October 8.

Rhea Ripley and Iyo Sky will be teaming together to take on the Kabuki Warriors, Asuka and Kairi Sane, at WWE Crown Jewel in Perth, Australia.Â
It was after the main event of last week’s “WWE Raw” that the Kabuki Warriors turned on Sky, with her loyalty to them strained against her loyalty to Ripley heading into the clash between Ripley and Asuka in the ring; Asuka had spat mist in the face of Ripley, prompting Sky to come out and get in between them. Asuka appeared to be relenting before delivering a spinning backfist to Sky, ordering Sane to deliver the InSane elbow drop to cement both their turns.Â
This week, Ripley called the Kabuki Warriors out, followed by Sky’s emergence to say that she was conflicted as to how to proceed. Asuka and Sane then appeared on the tron for a backstage promo, with Asuka telling Sky she could apologize to her and she would welcome her back with open arms. That ultimately turned out not to be the case, with Asuka misting Sky as her and Sane attacked the pair of Sky and Ripley.Â
In a later backstage segment, Sky told Ripley that they would be teaming together against the Kabuki Warriors at Crown Jewel, to which Ripley expressed her reservations, but eventually agreed to, thus confirming the match on October 11.Â
Former WWE Champion Adam Scherr, known to wrestling fans as Braun Strowman, is about to land a massive acting role in Hollywood.
The Monster Among Men is making waves in Hollywood with a potential career-defining opportunity. The former Universal Champion has revealed he is in talks to play the iconic horror villain Jason Voorhees in a new Friday the 13th movie.
Speaking during an interview at Fantastic Fest while promoting his role in Deathgasm 2: Goremageddon, Scherr expressed his eagerness to take on the legendary slasher character.
Oh, Friday the 13th. Jason,” he said when asked about which horror franchise he’d like to join, adding that he would “gladly shave this beard off to play that character.”
The former strongman-turned-actor also hinted that discussions are already underway, stating:
There may be some talks about it with people that I know and my agency. If we could ever get everybody to get back on the same page and allow the things to work, I might be the next Voorhees.”

What Lies Ahead for Braun Strowman?
Adam Scherr was released by the company in May 2025 due to financial reasons and has officially declared himself ‘semi-retired’ from wrestling as he focuses on building his acting career. His transition from the squared circle to the silver screen includes a security guard role in the upcoming horror comedy Deathgasm 2: Goremageddon.
The film, directed by Jason Lei Howden, serves as a sequel to the popular 2015 movie and features Scherr alongside stars Milo Cawthorne and Kimberley Crossman. Beyond movies, Scherr is also expanding his television presence with Everything On The Menu, a food series premiering on USA Network and streaming on Paramount+ in fall 2025.
The show will showcase a different side of the former WWE star as he travels across America exploring various cuisines. His acting ambitions represent a significant career shift for someone who previously held the WWE Universal Championship and broke multiple records in WWE events. With the Friday the 13th franchise potentially offering him a major Hollywood breakthrough, Scherr’s Hollywood journey could reach new heights.
Triple H receives full support from a displeased superstar.
WWE’s run under Triple H has had its ups and downs. With the amount of new deals from networks and the rise of mainstream involvement and popularity, there’s no doubt that the Stamford-based promotion’s financial status is on the rise. However, one of the main problems under his regime has been the bookings and creative decisions.
A main example of the latter point is John Cena’s Farewell Tour. A lot of fans have expressed disappointment over the superstars The Cenation Leader has faced, as many of them were just rematches, and it also didn’t help that he instantly lost to Brock Lesnar last week.
It has gotten to the point that John had to demand a match against AJ Styles for Crown Jewel next month, calling out Triple H on social media in the process. The match was later confirmed, making a lot of fans delighted. However, one WWE star who didn’t share the same positive attitude was The Miz, who said that he should be facing John instead after defeating him at WrestleMania 27.
Although The A-List superstar expressed his displeasure over John Cena’s booking for Crown Jewel, which Triple H has a final say on, The Miz was nothing but praise for The King of Kings.

The Miz Fully Supports Triple H’s WWE Decisions
In an interview with The Schmo, The Miz praised Triple H’s performance as WWE’s head of creative, stating that the proof is in the sold-out shows and partnerships, like ESPN. The A-Lister added that the company is thriving with its storylines and fully backs The Game in his decisions.
Triple H has been doing a phenomenal job as the head of creative for WWE, and the proof is in the pudding. Thereâ€s a reason why every show is sold out. The fact that we are on not just Netflix or USA, but now we also have a partnership with ESPN, with all our PLEs. This company is hot; itâ€s thriving, and the storylines are second to none. So whatever Triple H has planned, I am fully backing it. Because honestly, he has one of the best minds in the business that Iâ€ve ever seen.“

The recent AEW Dynamite dropped a shocker on Adam Copeland’s future in the company.
On September 20, 2025, Cope teamed up with Cristian Cage to face FTR at AEW All Out. Cope was in a long rivalry with FTR, and Cage joined his old buddy to help him out in the feud. However, things went south as Cope’s wife, Beth Copeland, came out during the match to help her husband secure the win. FTR handcuffed Cope and attacked Copeland, hurting her badly.
This week on Dynamite, when Renee Paquette asked the Rated-R superstar for a medical update on his wife, he walked away without any statement. He met Cage while packing his stuff and said he ‘can’t keep doing this, it’s affecting my family,’ and left after having a heartfelt moment with his long-time tag-team partner. Check that here.
After this statement, Cope’s future in the company is unsure. His AEW contract is reportedly set for expiration in 2026 if one follows the technicality of his comments stating his plans to retire at 53. The Rated R Superstar will turn 52 this October. Despite this, the internet wrestling community sparked speculation on where he might be headed after recent developments disclosed on Dynamite.
How Are Fans Relating Adam Copeland’s AEW Break to John Cena?
Following the backstage interaction, fans were quick to theorize where Cope is headed next. Before joining AEW, he was a major part of the WWE programming, where he had a memorable rivalry with John Cena. Now, as the Greatest of All Time is on a retirement tour and has only 5 dates remaining with the company as a performer, fans were hoping for a final showdown between these two superstars.
But since Cope was a part of AEW, that didn’t seem possible, until today’s Dynamite episode. Cena paid homage to Cope, known as Edge in WWE, during his US Title match on his last SmackDown appearance, by delivering a ‘Spear’ to Sami Zayn. Cope acknowledged this on All Out by delivering a body slam on Cash Wheeler, followed by a ‘You Can’t See Me’ taunt, and a ‘Five Knuckle Shuffle.’ Now, these actions weren’t subtle enough to go unnoticed by the wrestling fans.

Recently, Cena asked for one final match with AJ Styles to Triple H, which was made official by the Chief Content Officer of WWE, as Styles joined in too with the request. Following these actions, fans think we can still get one final match between Edge and Cena.
Fans Connecting the Dots on Social Media
There were a lot of tweets following this announcement by Cope, where fans expressed their desire for him to return to WWE for a match with Cena in his retirement tour.
One fan wrote, “AEW & WWE can literally make history and do something incredible; let Edge (Cope) leave & come to WWE for 1 match to give the fans what they want. Wrestling is for the people, WWE knows this retirement tour has been a miss so ending on a high note CENA V. EDGE would be amazing.”

Whereas, another fan suggested Edge as Cena’s last opponent on his retirement tour, writing, “Adam Copeland said he may not be coming back???? Heard John Cena needs a final opponent for December. #AEWDynamite.”

Many others joined the conversation, expressing their thoughts and excitement about the recent news. Following are the multiple fan reactions:
The internet wrestling community supporting John Cena vs Edge one last time
If what fans are saying on social media is true, and if Cope is headed towards WWE next for one final match with Cena, it would be a memorable moment. It would break the internet, giving the wrestling community what they want. Since we got Styles vs Cena for Crown Jewel on October 11, Cena’s one of the next four matches could be against Edge, summing up his retirement tour perfectly.
