There were empty seats before West Ham took on Brentford in their London derby. And plenty during the game. And even more so as the game drew to a close.
The fans who were left booed their team off after a truly miserable 2-0 defeat that could easily have been 5-0.
These are toxic times at London Stadium, with some fans staying away in a protest against the running of the club.
New Hammers boss Nuno Espirito Santo – yet to win after three games – admits the players have to work hard to get the fans back onside.
There was no sugar-coating this performance by the head coach with his after-match verdict.
“Not good enough. Poor,” said the Portuguese, who was managing his first West Ham home game since replacing Graham Potter, after two away trips.
“Fairly Brentford won the game, they were the better team.
“I think we are all concerned. You can see our own fans are concerned. Concern becomes anxiety, becomes silence. That anxiety passes to the players. We have a problem.
“It’s understandable. It’s up to us to change. The fans need to see something that pleases them and they can support us and give us energy.
“I understand it, I understand it totally, and I respect it. It’s up to us, it’s up to us to change it. We are the people who have to pull the fans back together.”
West Ham remain 19th, with just four points from their opening eight games. They are in action in the next Premier League game too, visiting Leeds on Friday.
Nuno told BBC Sport: “It’s a challenge for all of us. It’s up to us to change the momentum and bring our fans back to support us. In four days’ time we need a big improvement.”
Missing in action, an injured WWE star has dropped a major update.
Earlier this year, the wrestling world witnessed promising wrestler Zoey Stark suffer a serious setback when she suffered a knee injury during her Money In The Bank Qualifying Triple Threat against Rhea Ripley and Kairi Sane on May 19th, 2025.
Absent for nearly 154 days now, Stark recently dropped a major update on her return. Sharing a video on X(Twitter), Stark captioned it with,
This injury tested me in ways I didn’t expect. Progress doesnt always look pretty. It just takes consistently, patience and faith. Counting the days till I’m back.”
She further shared a massive setback which she suffered,
What’s up guys? Just wanted to hop on and give everyone a quick update. From the last video, one of the reasons why I was having a hard time was because I was told that either I would have get a scope done. Which is, where they go in, clean out my knee, any scar tissue, or two, get a manipulation under anaesthesia.
One of the reasons being, because I didn’t have full range of motion, and that would have pushed my recovery back. That’s why, I was so upset and having a hard time with it. But now we are back on track, that did not have to happen, thank god.
Now, I am running, jumping, I have full range of motion. Things are going great, honestly. I am happy, I am blessed.”
One of the most promising stars and on the receiving end of a push, this injury crushed all of her momentum and set her back.

Business mogul and former WWE CEO Vince McMahon has won a legal battle.
Vince McMahon was charged with one count of reckless driving and one count of following too closely, resulting in a motor accident over the summer. However, police confirmed everyone was wearing their seatbelts, and so no one sustained any injuries.
As reported by TMZ, McMahon was given the opportunity to have the charges against him dropped in a year by participating in a special program where he had to meet some conditions. A Stamford judge allowed the former WWE Chairman into an accelerated pre-trial rehabilitation program that would ensure that if McMahon kept his nose clean, donated $1,000 to charity, and adhered to driving lawfully, his case would be tossed out in October 2026.
Former WWE CEO Vince McMahon’s Attorney Calls The Outcome “Good News”
Vince McMahon appeared in court for the proceedings, wearing a navy suit and white shirt. He did not speak. McMahon’s attorney, Mark Sherman, told TMZ, “It was good news.” Sherman further noted, “Not every car accident is a crime, and the judge agreed that he deserved this dismissal, and we’re grateful for that.”

Are you surprised that AEW Dynamite did nearly HALF the viewership of WWE NXT this week? Please share your thoughts and feedback in the comment section below.
Santos Escobar is the hottest topic of discussion within the WWE Universe right now. Right as he was heading into free agency, the Legado Del Fantasma leader shocked the industry by reaching a deal with WWE. Now it appears the former NXT Cruiserweight Champion is planning big moves for his return to the storylines.
Earlier this week when the news of Escobar’s WWE contract situation emerged, he took to Instagram with a vignette inspired by The Most Interesting Man In The World commercials. Escobar captioned the post with a message encouraging fans to “palante,” or move forward.
“Never stop. Always persevere. #luchalibre #mexico PALANTE!!!,” Santos Escobar wrote with the video below.
The Emperor Of Lucha Libre then fueled rumors and speculation in a major way today after news of his WWE contract extension leaked. The vignette shows Escobar at a photo-shoot, which many fans saw as Santos teasing a return to his El Hijo del Fantasma gimmick, or his King Cuerno character from Lucha Underground. There was no caption to the post, but the in-video caption touted how this is just the beginning.
“It is only the beginning. Never … underestimate power,” reads the caption on the video.
Escobar then fueled the gimmick change speculation with a post to X, which was not uploaded to Instagram. The photo, seen below, appears to be from the same photo-shoot, and shows Escobar with his lucha libre mask. There was no caption.

Santos Escobar Shares Song Lyrics In Latest Post
Santos Escobar has trended all week over his ongoing WWE contract situation. The SmackDown Superstar has kept the buzz going with cryptic social media posts.
The Son Of El Fantasma took to Instagram today with another cryptic post after news of his new WWE contract was revealed. Escobar shared an intense black-and-white photo from another shoot, and captioned the post with lyrics from Nina Simone’s “Feeling Good” single from 1964-1965, which has been covered by numerous notable acts over the years.
“Birds flying high… you know how I feel… sun in the sky… you know how I feel… breeze drifting on by… you now how I feel. Itâ€s a new dawn, Itâ€s a new day, Itâ€s a new life… And I feel…. GOOD,” Santos Escobar wrote with the photo below.
Killer Kross and Scarlett wanted to stay with WWE, but they say they had a good feeling that things would end up the way they did.
Kross and Scarlett spoke with Chris Van Vliet on his Insight podcast about the final months of their WWE tenure. Scarlett said they anticipated “for months†what was going to happen. She compared herself to Melisandre, or the “Red Woman†of Game of Thrones‘ fame. Scarlett says she saw their fate while doing a tarot reading, and knew “in her gut†early on that they were going to leave WWE.
“Iâ€d say we knew for months what was happening, what was going to happen,†Scarlett explained. “I have been for a long time when it comes to astrology and looking things up, and a lot of the stuff I do on the paranormal show is a bit real with the tarot cards. So, I did see that we were going to have some sort of contract dispute, but it was going to take a while. And I did feel in my gut like weâ€re going to step away since like, February.â€
Kross said that they had told very few people about that experience, but they were always trying to make things work with WWE. He told Triple H in January that they both wanted to stay, which ultimately didnâ€t happen.
Scarlett explains why WWEâ€s negotiation tactic was a red flag
Kross and Scarlett were approached separately about contract negotiations, with a WWE representative saying they would get Kross†offer sorted first. Scarlett felt like they used her as leverage against him, although she thinks they would have signed her, too. Kross said a similar situation happened when he went from NXT to RAW, and wouldnâ€t make the same mistake again.
“But all in all, it felt like a massive, massive red flag. And I did feel like it did come off a bit misogynistic,†Scarlett said. “Because originally I was hired before you, and the idea that I have no value without him, and itâ€s only determined by whether or not he signs, that came off as very misogynistic to me.â€
“I told you this a long time ago, but didnâ€t really ever publicly talk about this,†Kross added. “When I signed to go from NXT to Raw, somebody said the exact same thing to me over the phone. And I asked her, I said, ‘What do you think?†At that time, we had no reason to ever think it would be strange or go sideways, so I signed it, being told weâ€ll get to her after we get to you. I go up to Raw, then we go into like Mad Max and the Thunderdome, and sheâ€s at home. So I was like, well, Iâ€m not gonna do that again. We already saw exactly what happened with that.â€
WWE ultimately pulled Kross†contract offer after 24 hours. He and Scarlett left the company in August, and they have continued working together on the independent scene.

WWE Crown Jewel is less than a week away and already boasts a stacked card. However, there is always room for more high-stakes bouts, given the number of storylines currently unfolding across WWE programming. The latest addition features the recently returned Roman Reigns.
The Tribal Chief made his shocking comeback on the September 29 episode of RAW, where he saved The Usos from a brutal beatdown at the hands of Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed. Given Reigns†ongoing rivalry with The Vision, many fans believed his return was setting up a major match for the upcoming Premium Live Event. Those speculations were confirmed when Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer reported that Reigns will indeed settle his score with Reed in Perth.
According to the report, WWEâ€s internal lineup sheet for Crown Jewel listed Roman Reigns vs. Bronson Reed as the final match to be added to the card.
WWE Crown Jewel Full Match Card
The Premium Live Event, which was once exclusive to Saudi Arabia, will, for the first time, take place in Australia. Besides the newly confirmed Reigns vs. Reed showdown, the card features several marquee matches that will conclude deeply personal rivalries involving some of WWEâ€s biggest stars.
Rhea Ripley will team up with IYO SKY to face the Kabuki Warriors (Asuka and Kairi Sane). What began as a one-on-one feud between Asuka and Ripley escalated into a tag team clash after the Kabuki Warriors turned on SKY, making this an emotionally charged bout.
John Cena set up the match that fans have been demanding since he announced his retirement tour. The Cenation Leader will face AJ Styles in what promises to be a show-stealing encounter. As Styles himself put it, he gets to do something he loves: “beat up John Cena.â€
“In the three matches we’ve had…how many of those have you won?”

Additionally, two major bouts are set to headline the event for the men’s and women’s WWE Crown Jewel Championships. On the womenâ€s side, Stephanie Vaquer will challenge Tiffany Stratton for the title, while the menâ€s division will see Seth Rollins and Cody Rhodes battle to determine who truly stands as the face of WWE.
With a card full of personal grudges, championship stakes, and a returning Tribal Chief, Crown Jewel is shaping up to be one of the most must-see events of 2025.
Will Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli play 2027 World Cup?While on the surface it may seem that both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are desperate to play—and win—the 2027 World Cup, chief selector Ajit Agarkar has dropped a massive statement on the senior duoâ€s ambitions for the marquee event in two years†time.
On Saturday in Ahmedabad, Agarkar attended the press conference as the BCCI announced Indiaâ€s squads for the ODI and T20I series in Australia to be played later this month.
The biggest revelation was that Rohit has been replaced as the ODI skipper by Shubman Gill, who is the Test captain and T20I vice-captain. Agarkar asserted that the selectors—along with head coach Gautam Gambhir and BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia—agree to not have three different captains in the three formats.
With Gill being the vice-captain of the T20I side, his succession to Indiaâ€s all-format captain is expected to come to fruition next year after the home T20 World Cup, where the 35-year-old Suryakumar Yadav will lead the side.
Coming to Rohit and Kohli, the duo will return to international cricket—both are retired from Tests and T20Is—for the first time since winning the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 in March.
Will Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli play 2027 World Cup?
After announcing the squad for the ODI series against Australia, chief selector Ajit Agarkar said, “Both Rohit and Virat are non-committal about the 2027 World Cup.â€
Rohit and Kohli may continue to have ambitions of winning the ODI World Cup, but Agarkarâ€s comments indicate that they are uncertain for the 2027 World Cup, which will be hosted in South Africa, Namibia, and Zimbabwe. Rohit is currently 38 years old, and Kohli is 36.
While Kohli won the 2011 World Cup, he was a youngster; Rohit was not picked in the squad. The duo then suffered heartbreaks in three consecutive ODI World Cup knockout matches—losing the semi-finals in 2015 and 2019 and the final at home in 2023 after an unbeaten campaign until the title clash.
Rohit, indeed, has time and again reiterated about his dream of lifting the ODI World Cup trophy, which he missed by a whisker a couple of years ago.
Another interesting topic during Agarkarâ€s press conference was whether Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will make themselves available for the Vijay Hazare Trophy, Indiaâ€s premier domestic 50-over tournament.
Will Rohit and Kohli play in Vijay Hazare Trophy?
While Agarkar didnâ€t confirm their availability or non-availability, the chief selector made it clear that the BCCI has asked all the players to make themselves available for domestic cricket when they are fit and not playing international cricket.
“We have made it clear that whenever the guys are available, they should be playing domestic cricket. If you are not playing international cricket, you are expected to play domestic cricket,†Agarkar said.
Some interesting few months await with regard to Indian cricket and its two biggest superstars, Rohit and Kohli.

NEW YORK — After missing the playoffs despite the most expensive opening-day roster in baseball, the New York Mets are starting a large staff overhaul.
While manager Carlos Mendoza will return, the team is moving on from pitching coach Jeremy Hefner. Hitting coaches Jeremy Barnes and Eric Chavez and third base coach Mike Sarbaugh also won’t return, the team said Friday. Bench coach John Gibbons resigned, and catching coach Glenn Sherlock is retiring.
Hefner is being replaced despite some notable success stories, including David Peterson and Sean Manaea.

Peterson was a 10-game winner in 2024 with a career-best 2.90 ERA. Manaea tied his career best with 12 wins last year and a 3.47 ERA. But that number ballooned to 5.64 in 15 appearances this year, including 12 starts.
Pitching and defense were the biggest problems for a team that went 38-55 over the final 93 games after being an MLB-best 45-24 in June. The offense wasn’t free of blame after the offseason signing of Juan Soto to a $765 million, 15-year deal. The megadeal put the cost for the Mets’ roster at $429 million in payroll and projected luxury tax.
When declaring this week that Mendoza would return, president of baseball operations David Stearns said the rest of the coaching staff would be evaluated.
Assistant pitching coach Desi Druschel and bullpen coach José Rosado have been given permission to speak to other teams. First base coach Antoan Richardson, strategy coach Danny Barnes and coaching assistant Rafael Fernandez have been invited back.
