Lucha fans, your wait is just about over—Penta and Rey Fenix are reuniting for the first time since signing with WWE, and itâ€s all going down in Mexico.

According to Luchablog, the AAA Guerra de Titanes event on December 20 will be held in Guadalajara, and the promotion is pulling out all the stops to make it a major draw. With a large venue to fill and local turnout uncertain, AAA is banking on fans traveling in from across the country—and that includes stacking the show with major names like Rey Mysterio.

But the real story? The Lucha Brothers are back. Penta posted a cryptic teaser on Instagram featuring a set of coordinates and the number 521. Once decoded, the coordinates point to Guadalajara—and the number marks how many days it will have been since Penta and Fenix last teamed together on the day of the show.

“Itâ€s also why Pentaâ€s Instagram had a mystery message with coordinates and a day count. Translated, it means he and Fenix are teaming up for the first time since they both came to WWE on 12/20 in Guadalajara. Thatâ€ll be a big deal, and itâ€ll help people understand this is meant to be a big deal show.â€

This December 20 reunion will mark the first official tag match for Penta and Fenix under the WWE umbrella, and itâ€s happening on AAAâ€s turf. The match is expected to be a major moment not just for Mexican fans—but also for the future of WWE and AAAâ€s evolving relationship.

Whether this leads to more crossover events or signals a deeper partnership between WWE and AAA remains to be seen. But one thingâ€s for sure: the Lucha Brothers are back together, and itâ€s happening in front of their home crowd.

AAAâ€s Heroes Inmortales XVII hits Mexico City tonight, bringing a loaded card and a powerful tribute to the man who started it all—Antonio Peña.

Rey Mysterio opened the eventâ€s broadcast with an emotional message, honoring the legacy of the legendary lucha libre pioneer, while his son Dominik Mysterio prepares to defend the AAA Mega Championship in the main event.

Reyâ€s pre-show video message put Peñaâ€s influence front and center, recognizing him as more than just a promoter or executive—he was the architect of modern lucha libre.

“Antonio Peña was more than a visionary. He was a creator. A pioneer. A man who dared to redefine what lucha libre could be.â€

Rey went on to mention how Peñaâ€s spirit still guides the promotion and its performers, from seasoned veterans to the new generation.

“Today, the entire AAA roster carries his legacy forward with the same passion, the same vision, and the same love for the art of lucha libre. From the arenas of Mexico to fans all over the world, the spirit of Antonio Peña lives on.â€

Tonightâ€s event takes place at the Gimnasio Olímpico Juan de la Barrera in Mexico City and features major title bouts across multiple divisions. Dominik Mysterio—who stunned the lucha world by becoming AAA Mega Champion—will defend his title against former WWE and NXT star Dragon Lee in a marquee showdown. Also on the card:

• Laredo Kid defends the AAA World Cruiserweight Championship in a four-way against Lince Dorado, Aerostar, and Jack Cartwheel.
• Reina de Reinas Champion Flammer puts her title on the line in a triple threat match with Natalya and Faby Apache.
• AAA World Tag Team Champions Pagano & Psycho Clown will defend their titles in an open challenge.
• Chik Tormenta faces off against Lola Vice in singles action.

With Rey honoring the past and Dominik stepping up in the present, Heroes Inmortales XVII is shaping up to be more than just a show—itâ€s a statement of pride, legacy, and lucha libreâ€s future.

It didn’t take long for Andrade to land on his feet after being fired from WWE, as he made a surprise return on the “AEW Dynamite: 6th Anniversary” show, attacking Kenny Omega and joining the Don Callis Family. Just days later, he added some gold around his waist, journeying to Tijuana, Baja California to defeat DMT Azul for The Crash Heavyweight Championship. But since then, Andrade has been nowhere to be seen on AEW TV, and a potential match between him and Omega at WrestleDream will not happen, as Andrade is set to compete in Puerto Rico the same day.

It’s not the only potential match of Andrade’s that has been removed from the calendar. Taking to X on Monday afternoon, user foos revealed that a scheduled match between Andrade and LA Park, set to take place on October 26 for promotion Mucha Luchas Atlanta, would no longer be taken place. According to foos, no reason was given for why the match wouldn’t be happening. It will be replaced by Mascarita Sagrada vs. Demus.

Andrade vs. Park, who many fans may remember as the original La Parka that wrestled in WCW back in the 1990s or for getting fired from MLW in 2022, would’ve been the first time these two lucha libre stars had ever faced off one on one. However, Park, who has been a long-time rival of Andrade’s AEW co-worker, long-time friend, and former LFI stablemate Rush for the last decade, is known for being on bad terms with CMLL, AEW’s promotional partner, ever since he last wrestled there in 2019. It remains unclear if that is related to why the Andrade-Park match was called off.

One of the most sacred and traditional practices in Mexican culture is Lucha Libre. Itâ€s a style of wrestling best known for its performers wearing a variety of masks.

Out of respect, a performer isnâ€t known by their public name unless it is said by them. That rule also applies to the mask. Unless they get the mask taken away from them in a stipulation match or they decide to wrestle without it, removing someoneâ€s mask is a huge no-no in the world of Lucha Libre.

These masks come in a variety of  colors and sizes. Some have decorations on them like feathers or horns that incorporate their character into the mask.

In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, the WWE YouTube channel uploaded a video featuring WWE and AAA wrestlers. They were shown many masks and were asked to do a blind ranking of them. This video is a great way to honor masks from the legends that made Lucha Libre what it is today.

This showed how much respect current WWE and AAA wrestlers have for their predecessors that donned the sacred masks of Lucha Libre. With the exception of Dominik Mysterio, which was obvious going in, the wrestlers had a lot of good things to say about everyone.

Mr. Iguana and Penta gave their flowers to legends of the sport. Hearing Penta talk about how much Psicosis means to him was good to hear, and I could definitely see why he uses the black and white pattern in his mask.

It was interesting to see El Grande Americano on the list because he has made enemies of so many luchadors in the last couple of months. Unsurprisingly, the majority of wrestlers that ranked him did so near the bottom of the list. Maybe if he played nice with them, the ranking would change. But for now, his overall ranking by them is in the lower half.

Overall, this was a great video showing how much masks mean to Lucha Libre culture and wrestling as a whole. Itâ€s a tradition dating back generations, with Mexican wrestlers taking it very seriously. A luchador is almost always anonymous, with the mask protecting their identity and their personal life from the public.

Doing so is smart, as it separates the character from the person playing the character. It was nice to see the variety of masks worn by these wrestlers. The range colors, shapes, and sizes all play into their character and how they want to be portrayed for the fans.

Getting both WWE and AAA wrestlers involved in this video was a great idea. WWE wants to strengthen the bond with AAA to make their partnership as fruitful as possible. A way to do that is to incorporate them into WWE programming and videos. This was an informative showcase of Lucha Libre culture and how masks fit into Lucha Libre overall.

New AEW signee Andrade is set to compete in an indie dream match later this month.

Mucha Lucha Atlanta has announced that Andrade will face off against lucha legend LA Park at the promotion’s show in Norcross, Georgia on Sunday, October 26. It marks the first time the two have ever faced each other one-on-one.

“A fight never seen before, a true dream match, something that seemed impossible,” Mucha Lucha Atlanta wrote. “Andrade ‘El Idolo’ El ingobernable goes head to head against the living legend LA Park ‘La Autentica Parka’ The ring assassin, a one-on-one clash that will shake MLA!

“A clash of generations, styles, and egos. Two wrestling giants who will hold nothing back.’

Espacio Discotheque ATL will be the venue for the show.

On the sixth anniversary edition of AEW Dynamite last night, Andrade made his return to the company by joining the Don Callis Family and targeting Kenny Omega. Andrade then posted a tweet today teasing that Omega was only the first name on his AEW hit list.

Andrade is back in AEW after his first run ended at the end of 2023. He returned to WWE at that time but was released from his WWE contract last month.

In addition to this show and his AEW return, Andrade has also booked appearances for The Crash and House of Glory.

LA Park — the original La Parka — is a member of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter Hall of Fame. Along with his work in Mexico, he’s spent time in the United States with WCW and MLW during his career.
