Eddie Kingston is preparing to say goodbye to the independent wrestling scene for good. The former AEW Continental Champion announced that his current run on the indies will be his last, revealing that he plans to step away from independent bookings entirely by November 2026.
In a candid post on Threads, Kingston laid out his plans, stating that heâ€ll only be taking select shows moving forward.
“So this is my last indy run. Doing Beyond and a show in Jersey this weekend. After that, I am taking only one show a month.â€
“By next November, I am done with the indies and yeah nothing more too it. As of now, I have December and March, April, May.â€
Kingston was previously announced for Beyond Wrestlingâ€s Novembercanrana event on November 14 in Cranston, Rhode Island, part of whatâ€s shaping up to be his farewell indie tour.
The hard-hitting veteran returned to AEW at All Out this past September after being sidelined by injury since May 2024. At one point, Kingston even admitted he considered retirement altogether during his time away from the ring.
Since his return, Kingston has been teaming with HOOK, most recently appearing on the November 5 episode of AEW Dynamite in a losing effort alongside Adam Page against the AEW World Trios Champions — The Opps (Katsuyori Shibata, Powerhouse Hobbs, and Samoa Joe).
While heâ€ll still be active in AEW, this marks the end of a chapter for one of the most respected voices and personalities in indie wrestling. Known for his raw promos, grit, and authenticity, Kingstonâ€s departure from the scene will be felt by promotions and fans across the country.

Jon Moxley, Daniel Garcia, Claudio Castagnoli, PAC, and Wheeler Yuta of The Death Riders will be going head-to-head with Darby Allin, Orange Cassidy, Kyle O’Reilly, Roderick Strong, and Mark Briscoe in a Men’s Blood & Guts Match on November 12, while TBS Champion Mercedes Mone, Thekla, Skye Blue, Julia Hart, and Marina Shafir square off with Toni Storm, Jamie Hayter, Queen Aminata, Harley Cameron, and Willow Nightingale in the first ever Women’s Blood & Guts Match that same night. Before all twenty competitors face off with one another in their respective bouts, a Best Of Three series to determine which teams will win the opportunity to add members of their teams into the cages first will kick off tonight. Cassidy will be going one-on-one with Castagnoli and Garcia will be taking on Allin in the first two Blood & Guts Advantage Battles for the men’s teams, while Aminata collides with Bayne in the first Blood & Guts Advantage Battle for the women’s teams.
Eddie Kingston will be competing in his first match on “Dynamite” since losing the Continental Championship to current holder Kazuchika Okada on the March 20, 2024 edition of the show as he teams up with AEW World Champion “Hangman” Adam Page and HOOK to face AEW World Trios Champions Samoa Joe, Powerhouse Hobbs, and Katsuyori Shibata of The Opps. After Joe emerged victorious against Bobby Lashley, Ricochet, and his former stablemate HOOK in a Fright Night Four-Way Match to secure another shot at Page’s title at AEW Full Gear on November 18, Page surprised Joe by disguising himself as Tony Schiavone and pretending to interview him in order to launch a post-match beatdown on him.
The second quarterfinals match for the AEW Women’s World Tag Team Championship Tournament will be taking place tonight, as Ring Of Honor Women’s World Champion Athena joins forces with the aforementioned Mone to take on the aforementioned Cameron and Nightingale. The winners of tonight’s match will go on to face The Sisters of Sin, who defeated the aforementioned Aminata and Hayter in a quarterfinals match last Wednesday to be the first team to advance.

From there, the clock is turned back a further six years to 2005 and we stretch the rules of the show a tiny bit to talk about CZW from the “CZW” Arena and also from a weird junkyard as we are truly treated to the good, the bad, and the ugly of mid-2000s indy wrestling. Young Steen and Generico, Eddie Kingston promos, death matches, and lots of terrible gear. So open the gate, enter the combat zone, and check out whatâ€s on the telly with us this month!

When news broke recently that both Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods of the New Day were staying put in WWE, having agreed to new contract extensions, it came as little surprise. After all, the duo have been in the WWE system for 19 and 15 years respectively, and have been among the most consistent stables/tag teams during that time, with little reason to leave. And yet, at least one of them was keeping all of their options open.
Fightful Select reports that, while details surrounding Kingston’s negotiations with WWE aren’t clear, given his deal was reached quietly several months ago, that is not the case for Woods. Instead, the former King of the Ring winner’s extension with WWE was said to have “come down to the wire,” indicating that Woods was close to hitting the free agent market before agreeing to terms with WWE.
For those thinking this was a situation where Woods was potentially seeking leverage, that also doesn’t appear to be the case. While Woods’ preference was to remain with WWE, he also found himself in a position where he wouldn’t have to compromise regarding terms, allowing him to make a decision that would be “what was best for him.” In the end, Woods decided the best decision was to stay.
Given how close Woods got to becoming a free agent, it would suggest Woods may have had some interest in speaking with AEW, where Woods’ long-time frenemy Kenny Omega and long-time friends Adam Cole and Claudio Castagnoli work. However, there is no indication that Woods, nor Kingston months earlier, had any contact with AEW.
Eddie Kingston is not exactly one to accept positive feedback from others and this has shone through for him amid his recent comeback trail. During an episode of Close Up w/ Renee Paquette, the inaugural AEW Continental Champion was speaking with the titular figure of the show. When Paquette mentioned how it was hard to imagine a wrestling world without Eddie Kingston in it, Kingston said,
“What are you talking about? There was one 25 years before without me and it did fine… You guys got to stop with this bulls**t.”
When the AEW broadcaster mentioned this was classic Eddie Kingston where he doesn’t want to have the spotlight on him where he is adored and loved, Kingston responded,
“Adoring what though? Here’s the thing. Adoring what? I am flawed. Why the f**k should I be adored? Hold on. Let me finish. Now we’re shooting. Hey, you knew this was coming. Here we go… Here’s the thing. I’m not perfect.”
“I’m f***ing flawed. I make f**king mistakes every day. Do you understand? I must have quit this company eight times when I was out because of my own mental s**t.”
Eddie Kingston “I am not a good employee”
As the former ROH champion expounded upon his additional thoughts in this regard, Eddie Kingston continued,
“I am not a good employee. I’m not. I’m a pain in the f**king a** because I’m passionate about it. But I don’t want to be here s**t because guess what? I can still walk through the airport and catch a domestic flight.”
“I’m trying to get this place to a level where we can have private flights where we have to fly; whatever what is it? We do have private flights. Whatever. You know what I’m talking about, right?”
“That’s when I’ll tell you and everyone else. Yes. I did good. I’m over. But until then, no, I don’t want to hear it. I don’t want to hear s**t because it’s not happening.”
“Until that happens, until everyone’s eating like that, then I’ll tell you, yes, I’m over. Yes, I’m this. Yes, I’m that. But until then, no… This is the reality of it.”
Kingston made his return to the ring in September when he bested Big Bill at AEW All Out in Toronto.
During his injury recovery, there were several points where AEW star Eddie Kingston felt like he didn’t want to return.
Kingston suffered a broken leg and torn ACL in May 2024 and could not wrestle for more than a year. The recovery process was taxing both physically and mentally — and Kingston’s “mental sh*t” caused him to almost quit AEW on multiple occasions.
On a new episode of AEW Close Up with Renee Paquette, Kingston addressed why it’s difficult for him to accept praise from people.
“I am flawed. Why the f*ck should I be adored?,” Kingston said. “Iâ€m not perfect. Iâ€m f*cking flawed. I make f*cking mistakes every day. Do you understand, I must have quit this company eight times when I was out because of my own mental sh*t. I am not a good employee. Iâ€m not. Iâ€m a pain in the f*cking ass because Iâ€m passionate about it.”
Accepting praise is hard for Kingston because he still has a lot of guilt over things he’s done and the way he’s treated people in his past. He was brought up believing that you shouldn’t take the spotlight. You should just do what you need to do to survive and move on.
Kingston also finds praise uncomfortable because he still feels like he has more to do to raise both his personal profile and elevate AEW as a company.
In his return from injury, Kingston defeated Big Bill at AEW All Out this September. He’s now formed a tag team with Hook, with Kingston & Hook defeating The Frat House on the Tailgate Brawl for AEW WrestleDream last weekend.

Welcome to Wrestling Inc.’s coverage of “AEW Collision: Homecoming” on October 11, 2025, coming to you from Daily’s Place in Jacksonville, Florida!
Last week on “Collision”, Eddie Kingston defeated LFI’s Dralistico. This week, he looks to beat another member when he takes on The Beast Mortos.
During Kris Statlander and “Timeless” Toni Storm’s one-on-one meeting in the ring, they were interrupted by Triangle of Madness. Tonight, Stat and Storm will be joined by Harley Cameron as they take on the trio. TayJay will also be in action where it all started for them as a tag team.
Several weeks ago, Kyle Fletcher took out Kenny Omega, which led to him facing Hangman Page at ALL OUT. Omega’s best friend and Golden Lovers’ partner, Kota Ibushi has returned to avenge him. He’ll take on Fletcher’s Don Callis Family member, Josh Alexander. During the taping, Ibushi was injured.
After Kevin Knight defeated Dax Harwood, FTR attacked Knight and Speedball Mike Bailey. When Willow Nightingale was trying to help them, she was attacked by Megan Bayne. Tonight, JetSpeed and Nightingale will face FTR and Bayne.
For the last few weeks, Anthony Bowens and Max Caster have been doing everything they can to avoid teaming up together. Once again, they have found their way as a team and will take on Bryan Keith and Big Bill. Bill quickly beat Caster in a quick match recently.

On the heels of a separate report that Xavier Woods had inked a new contractwith WWE, Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select reported that his New Day teammate, Kofi Kingston, has also signed on the dotted line to remain with the company.
“Fightful Select is told that Kofi Kingston re-signed with WWE at some point earlier this year. WWE sources indicated that they were of the belief of that the deal would be a five-year contract, taking him into 2030, when he’ll be nearly 49,” Sapp wrote.
Kingston is a former WWE champion and has been a staple of the company’s programming since his arrival on the main roster in 2008. He has accomplished everything there is to in the promotion, but remains a visible and valuable asset on Monday Night Raw.
Kingston can be a beloved babyface or as we have witnessed over the last year, a despised heel, making him an adaptable performers who can still work with stars of all styles and backgrounds.
He is over with fans and a veteran of every major moment, victory, defeat, and match that can take place on any given WWE show and is a major part of the locker room, making him invaluable to the company beyond his ability in the ring.
For that reason, he more than earned one last, long-term contract and a chance to continue his WWE career rather than starting over somewhere else.
