You never know what can happen in a company where someone has a guaranteed title shot. This weekâ€s TNA Wrestling iMPACT only proved that.
During this weekâ€s live episode of TNA Wrestling, the TNA World Title was on the line. This match was quite a main event segment for the show as well.
The night ended with a TNA World Title match, but they didnâ€t get very far. About five minutes into the match, NXT stars Lexis King, Charlie Dempsey, Stacks, Brooks Jenson, and more jumped into the ring to attack Santana.
The match was called off after that, and although TNA Wrestling stars tried to run down for the save, the NXT talent stood tall at the end. Santana was laid out, and then the NXT Superstars left. After that, Frankie Kazarian ran down with his Call Your Shot gauntlet trophy to cash in.
Although Santana didnâ€t go down without a fight, he did end up getting pinned after a roll-up. The night ended with Frankie Kazarian as TNA World Champion, and Santana was a beaten man.
NXT and TNA Wrestling have an ongoing situation, and this partnership between the two sides has opened up a lot of new possibilities. Now, it appears that the TNA World Title is not safe anymore, even after Santana won it back for his company.
We will keep a close eye on this story for more information. Only time will tell how this pans out when it comes to TNA Wrestling and NXTâ€s ongoing partnership.
Whatâ€s your take on how this TNA World Title match ended on iMPACT this week? Do you think that they should have gone a different direction? Let us know what you think in the comments section!

TNA Wrestling Bound For Glory 2025 saw an amazing match ruined by an NXT stable.
TNA Wrestlingâ€s Bound For Glory event went down on Sunday, October 12, 2025, at the Tsongas Center in Lowell, Massachusetts. This included a very impressive match for the X-Division Title.
At TNA Bound For Glory, Leon Slater defended the TNA X-Division Championship against Jeâ€Von Evans. The match continued the crossover between TNA and WWEâ€s NXT brand, with Evans representing NXT in his bid to capture one of TNAâ€s most historic titles.
Fans cheered this match before Evans and Slater even touched each other. This had a big fight feel, and both competitors shook hands before they started. The fans also chanted “This Is Awesome†before the first move.
Once the match got started, Slater and Evans matched each other move for move, even doing a pose like the famous Spiderman twin meme, and fans were all here for it.
The contest continued as Jeâ€Von Evans had a chance to show off a bit, but Leon Slater was right with him. This assault from Evans included a ton of high risk dives, and Evans felt the brunt of each daredevil move.
Slater nailed a nice cutter for a near fall. Fans chanted “TNA†as the match continued, and Leon Slater mounted his offense against the guest from NXT. After Evans countered a slingshot into a DDT, he took off his shirt and got down to business with an OG Cutter on the ring apron as fans chanted “Holy Sh*t.â€
This match was one high spot after another, as Evans nailed a splash from the top rope across the ring, but Slater kicked out. Eventually, both men were laid out on the mat as they reset themselves.
Leon Slater kept putting up a huge fight as he continued kicking out of everything Jeâ€Von Evans threw at him. Eventually, they ended up in the crowd, fighting through the crowd. In the end, the twenty-minute time limit expired as they battled at ringside. Fans booed this result in a huge way, because there was no real winner decided in the match. Fans chanted “bullsh*t†and then TNA Director of Authority Santino Marella came out to re-start the match with 5 more minutes.
The two went at it in a big way as soon as the bell sounded to re-start the match. Suddenly, the lights went out before Evans could get the pinfall, and then DarkState made their way out to disrupt things and end the match with a massive beatdown.
Fans chanted “f*ck these guys†as DarkState posed in the ring. This was not the result anyone wanted at all for this highly expected TNA X-Division Title match.

The TNA roster has been invading “WWE NXT” over the last couple of weeks, and the tensions are going to result in a showdown on October 7 at, you guessed it, WWE vs. TNA Showdown, though the show initially had a different name, Invasion. The name had been a callback to the WWE vs. WCW cross-branded Invasion PPV from 2001, but WWE was reportedly forced to change the event’s name due to the current tensions in the Middle East.
Fightful Select has confirmed reports that WWE changed the name of the event, as October 7 will mark the second anniversary of Hamas’s attack on Israel, which sparked the latest wave of aggression in the Gaza Strip. The company had reportedly received unspecified “pushback.” There had been an op-ed in Israel Hayom, which accused WWE of being insensitive to Israeli fans by using the “Invasion” branding on such a sensitive day. The change was initially reported by WrestleVotes, though without the reasoning.
The show is set to be the first major interaction between WWE and TNA. The two companies have been in partnership for the better part of 2025, but that had mainly manifested as talent and title sharing, with WWE stars competing in TNA and vice versa until the announcement of Tuesday’s show. The October 7 event will feature two Survivor Series-esque matches between Men’s and Women’s teams from each company, as well as a North American Title match between Ethan Page and former X Division Champion Mustafa Ali, and a Winner-Take-All Match between the TNA World Tag Team Champions, The Hardys, and the NXT Tag Team Champions, Darkstate.
WWE has dropped the Invasion name for the upcoming event between NXT and TNA next month.
Invasion, the original title of the WWE/WCW pay-per-view back in 2001, was set to be resurrected next month for a Tuesday night special of NXT that would see the brand go head-to-head with TNA Wrestling.
However, complaints emerged regarding the title of the show and the date it was taking place on October 7. Thus, WWE decided it was best to change course and rename the event.
WrestleVotes took to social media prior to tonightâ€s episode of WWE NXT to reveal the new name, tweeting out:
“The NXT vs TNA ‘Invasion†show is getting a new name. Itâ€s now titled ‘Showdown,’†WrestleVotes said in a post.
On tonightâ€s episode of WWE NXT, Ava and Santino Marella announced the menâ€s and womenâ€s Survivor Series teams for this event.
Those teams are as follows:
NXT Menâ€s Survivor Series Team:
- Ricky Saints
- Jeâ€Von Evans
- Trick Williams
- Myles Borne
TNA Menâ€s Survivor Series Team:
- Mike Santana
- Frankie Kazarian
- Moose
- Leon Slater
NXT Womenâ€s Survivor Series Team:
- Jacy Jayne
- Lola Vice
- Sol Ruca
- Jaida Parker
TNA Womenâ€s Survivor Series Team:
- Kelani Jordan
- Jessie McKay
- Cassie Lee
- Mara Sade
The NXT vs. TNA Showdown event will go head-to-head with AEW Dynamite: Title Tuesday as the company is forced to move to Tuesday one night a year due to the MLB Playoffs.
What else is set for Showdown?
In addition to the two NXT vs. TNA Survivor Series team matches, other matches currently announced for this show include:
- Winner Take All for the NXT and TNA Tag Team Titles: DarkState (c) vs. The Hardy Boyz
- NXT North American Championship: Ethan Page (c) vs. Mustafa Ali

What do you make of the name change from Invasion to Showdown? Which brand has the stronger teams heading into this event? Let us know your overall thoughts by sounding off in the comments section below.
WWE had to change up the verbiage a bit.
WWEâ€s NXT brand had a lot to get to for their September 30 episode. They closed out the month with an Invasion angle, as the name of their upcoming special on October 7 is about to change.
Controversy erupted over WWE NXT and TNA Wrestlingâ€s upcoming Invasion special. They quietly scrubbed that branding since then. Due to this, they have apparently changed the name of this nostalgic special.
During this weekâ€s NXT, TNAâ€s Director of Authority, Santino Marella, made it clear that TNA Wrestling is not “invading†NXT. He made it clear that the two sides have been working together. So, this is not an Invasion, it is a “Showdown.â€
As you know, WWE has already had an Invasion angle. In 2001, WWE bought WCW after it shut down. A few months later, ECW closed too. WWE used this to create a storyline where WCW and ECW wrestlers teamed up to invade WWE. The Alliance formed after that, and the rest is history.
We will have to see what is next, but this is certainly an interesting turn of events. Keep checking back with us here at Ringside News for more.

Notes from Saturdayâ€s NXT No Mercy event.
The big news coming out of No Mercy came from NXT General Manager Ava, who announced the NXT Invasion special for October 7 on The CW. Two Survivor Series-style matches will take place, one with men and the other with women. Stars from both promotions such as Myles Borne, Lash Legend, Frankie Kazarian, Moose, and Mike Santana all expressed interest in participating.
Invasion? Count me in! An Invasion can be defined as an unwelcome intrusion. Well, be prepared to welcome the current @ThisIsTNA International Champion, and the #KingofTNA back to @WWENXT this Tuesday!
— 👑 Frankie Kazarian 👑 (@FrankieKazarian) September 28, 2025
Lola Vice didnâ€t end up winning the NXT Womenâ€s Championship on Saturday thanks to a masked person drilling her with a running kneestrike as she was recovering on the outside. Vice managed to enter the ring to avoid a count-out, but ended up walking into a rolling encore by Jacy Jayne, who retained the title. Earlier in the night, Laney Reid was interviewed and revealed that she was wearing a foot cast, putting her out of action. Vice ran into Lane and the two exchanged words.
Ethan Page was also victorious at No Mercy, defeating Tavion Heights to retain the North American title. As he was celebrating in the ring, El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr. appeared on the video screen. He said that while Page had his eye on the AAA Latin American title, he had his eye on the NXT North American title.
The two met earlier this month at Worlds Collide, where Wagner emerged victorious in a four-way match that was for the Latin American title.

Invasion is coming.
Ava announced at Saturdayâ€s No Mercy PLE that after talking to TNA Director of Authority Santino Marella, the October 7 episode of NXT will be titled Invasion. At this show, two Survivor Series matches will take place that will feature NXT talent wrestling TNA talent. One will be a menâ€s match, while the other will feature women. The teams for these matches will be revealed on Tuesdayâ€s NXT.
Additionally, Ava announced that Darkstate will meet The Hardys in a title for title match. She said unlike the title for title match on the last episode of NXT, everyone will be barred from ringside and there must be a winner.
Tensions started to flare between the two promotions two weeks ago when it was announced that TNA Champion Trick Williams would face NXT Champion Oba Femi. TNA talent on social media sounded off, unhappy about TNAâ€s top championship being decided on NXT. On this weekâ€s show, that frustration reached a boiling point when Williams struck Mike Santana, who was on commentary. The show ended with the TNA roster, who were watching in the crowd, entering the ring to brawl with NXT talent.
Here is the current card for NXT Invasion. The show ill be going head-to-head with AEW’s Title Tuesday edition of Dynamite:
NXT/TNA Invasion (October 7, CW)
- TNA vs. NXT Survivor Series menâ€s match
- TNA vs. NXT Survivor Series womenâ€s match
- Title for title: NXT Tag Team Champions Darkstate vs. TNA Tag Team Champions The Hardys

WWE just dropped a major announcement during NXT No Mercy in Fort Lauderdale, Florida—and itâ€s about to shake the entire wrestling landscape. After weeks of growing tension between NXT and TNA Wrestling, Ava officially confirmed what fans have only dreamed about: an Invasion is coming.
The drama escalated after last weekâ€s title vs. title match between Trick Williams and Oba Femi got wrecked by an unexpected TNA invasion. That chaos didnâ€t just end when the cameras stopped rolling. Ava revealed that she and TNAâ€s Santino Marella had intense talks to figure out a solution—and now, the result is one of the most explosive cross-brand events in WWE history.
“The relationship between NXT and TNA has become extremely fractured. Last week, during Trick and Obaâ€s title for title match, TNA Wrestling invaded NXT, which then led to the chaos that you all saw when we went off air,†Ava said. “After this happened, Santino and I talked for hours, trying to come up with a solution, and we finally did.â€
That solution? A full-blown brand war. Ava confirmed that Invasion will take place on Tuesday, October 7th, live on the CW Network. The card already includes two Survivor Series-style elimination matches—one for the men, one for the women—with teams to be announced this Tuesday after Ava and Santino make their picks.
Thatâ€s not all. The NXT Tag Team Champions Dark State will collide with The Hardy Boys, who hold the TNA Tag Team Titles. Itâ€s title for title, winner take all—no politics, just pure tag team warfare.
Also confirmed is a rematch between Trick Williams and Oba Femi for their respective singles titles. But this time, no one will be allowed at ringside. “There has to be a winner,†Ava said. “Everyone will be barred from ringside, so there will be no interruptions.â€
In the middle of all this, it was also confirmed that Jeâ€Von Evans is heading to Bound for Glory to challenge for the X-Division Championship, further proving that this NXT–TNA alliance is anything but ordinary.
The wrestling world thought it would never happen, but now itâ€s real: Invasion is on, and both brands are going to war.
What’s your take on this big announcement from Ava? Are you looking forward to the event? Please share your thoughts and feedback in the comment section below.

When David Otunga stormed the ring with the Nexus in one of the most chaotic and memorable WWE moments of the PG era, fans thought it was just an edgy storyline. But according to Otunga, the entire angle was real, and so were the stakes—because Vince McMahon flat-out told them theyâ€d be fired if it didnâ€t look violent enough.
During his appearance on TMZâ€s Inside The Ring, Otunga gave an unfiltered look at what really went down behind the scenes before the Nexus invasion of Monday Night RAW in June 2010. As Otunga recalled, all eight NXT rookies were summoned to the show the week after the NXT finale with no idea what was going on. Nobody talked to them all day. Then, moments before the live broadcast, they were called into Vince McMahonâ€s office. Otunga said Vince McMahon and Michael Hayes laid out the shocking directive:
“Look, this is whatâ€s going to happen. We want you to go down, storm the main event. We want you to wreak havoc and tear everything up. Beat up John Cena, beat up CM Punk, everybody. The announcer, the timekeeper, tear the ring up. Weâ€re going to give you box cutters and stuff. Tear the place apart. And if it doesnâ€t look vicious enough—youâ€re fired.â€
Otunga admitted that as a relatively new talent with barely a handful of matches under his belt, he was terrified—and things got real quickly. He was given the responsibility to throw the very first punch of the ambush, and it had to be on referee Chad Patton. It wasnâ€t just a worked punch either.
“I had to throw the first punch on Chad Patton, the referee, and it had to look good,†Otunga said. “Vince said, ‘Hey, if it doesnâ€t look good, youâ€re fired.†I was like, ‘Well, we gotta really start.†Chad Patton, sorry buddy, but youâ€re going to have to eat one.â€
The angle looked so real that even the live crowd believed it had spiraled out of control.
“After we beat up everybody at the announce table, a fan reached over the railing and started ringing the ring bell—to get help,†he revealed.
Even WWE talent backstage didnâ€t know it was a work. Some were apparently ready to jump the Nexus in the locker room after the segment because they thought it was a real shoot.
Otunga also addressed the controversial firing of Daniel Bryan, who was released by WWE shortly after the segment aired for choking announcer Justin Roberts with his tie—an image that reportedly violated PG-era guidelines.
“They told us to go hard or we were fired. They never told us what the line was. In fact, they told us, ‘Go too hard and weâ€ll pull you back,â€â€ Otunga explained. “Daniel Bryan got fired for choking Justin Roberts… and I didnâ€t necessarily agree with it. He was doing what they told him to do.â€
Looking back, Otunga said that the Nexus invasion was successful because it felt authentic—because it was. The group didnâ€t know if they were still employed and were literally fighting for their careers on live television. That sense of desperation, combined with Vinceâ€s cutthroat instruction, turned the segment into something unforgettable.
It wasnâ€t just a storyline. It was a career-defining moment where failure meant getting fired on the spot.
Do you think Vince McMahon went too far with his demands during the Nexus invasion? Should Daniel Bryan have been fired for simply following orders? Drop your thoughts in the comments—we want to hear from you.

WWE and TNA are moving forward into a new chapter of their historic working alliance. As a highly-anticipated creative program kicks off, new details are being leaked on just how complex plans are.
Shawn Michaels and Carlos Silva led their brands into another battle on Tuesday’s live NXT episode. The 12-minute main event saw NXT Champion Oba Femi defend his title against fellow WWE talent Trick Williams, who also had his TNA World Championship on the line. The referee called the match when TNA’s Mike Santana, who was on commentary, got into it with Williams at ringside.
For days there had been talk of another massive interpromotional brawl, which was fueled by TNA wrestlers sitting in the crowd for Tuesday’s episode. The competition hit the ring after the NXT vs. TNA title match ended in a No Contest, and this emptied the locker-room as male and female stars from both companies began brawling while the crowd went wild.
Several TNA wrestlers were also seen backstage throughout Tuesday’s show. The company was represented by Eric Young, Matt Cardona, Moose, Frankie Kazarian, Cedric Alexander, The IInspiration, Steve Maclin, Steph De Lander, Mance Warner, Lei Ying Lee, Xia Brookside, Zachary Wentz, and Victoria Crawford.
Michaels made it known that the war is not over. WWE’s Senior Vice President of Talent Development shared a post-show clip from behind-the-scenes.
“This doesn’t end here @ThisIsTNA. #WeAreNXT,” Shawn Michaels wrote.
This doesnâ€t end here @ThisIsTNA. #WeAreNXTpic.twitter.com/Ys7a5gajar
— Shawn Michaels (@ShawnMichaels) September 24, 2025
The warning from Michaels fueled speculation on WWE sending a crew of Superstars to TNA’s Impact tapings. Now word is that the NXT vs. TNA storyline will be a major part of the build to the 21st Bound For Glory pay-per-view, which is scheduled for Sunday, October 12 in Lowell, MA at the Tsongas Center.
WWE Has Big Plans For NXT vs. TNA
The NXT vs. TNA invasion angle kicked off to major buzz this month, and sources are now revealing how this storyline will be a longterm program involving top talents from both brands. Fightful Select adds that the creative direction is set to continue well through Bound For Glory.
NXT is set to have “an accelerated presence” on WWE programming, apparently to help with buzz for the TNA invasion angle. WWE brought several familiar faces, and notable names, to NXT this week, including talents that have not worked the NXT-TNA partnership until now. While there are some wrestlers that WWE officials do not want featured, there is talk of using some former Superstars or legends, including The Hardys.
Fans recently noticed how TNA does not have a TV taping scheduled for the week after Bound For Glory, but they do have three Impact tapings scheduled for November 13-15 at a venue to be named in Orlando, Florida. The latest report from backstage is that this scheduling is not an accident as it will factor into the NXT vs. TNA storyline going well through Bound For Glory.
Sources could not confirm what is planned, but it was noted that we could see “something unconventional or different” for TNA TV tapings coming out of Bound For Glory. In regards to rumors of TNA taping at the WWE Performance Center, it was said that the dates would not be listed on ticketing websites this early, if that is the plan.
