Key Injury:RB Najee Harris
On Monday, Los Angeles Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh informed reporters that running back Najee Harris tore his Achilles, a season-ending injury.Â
Rookie first-rounder Omarion Hampton is in line for a massive workload out of the backfield. Backup running back Hassan Haskins may get more touches. He played under Harbaugh for four collegiate terms at Michigan. That said, the fourth-year veteran has 59 career carries and is averaging just 3.1 yards per rush attempt.
With a 3-0 start, the Chargers should be aggressive in filling roster voids to maintain their momentum. Though Harris had a rotational role after he suffered an eye injury in an offseason fireworks incident, Los Angeles can add a veteran ball-carrier who can take some pressure off Hampton in his first year.Â
Remember, the Chargers signed Harris to a one-year deal. So, they could gauge the trade market for a long-term backup running back.
Miami Dolphins rookie sixth-rounder Ollie Gordon II has looked impressive as a complement to De’Von Achane. During the preseason, he generated buzz and took advantage of his time on the field while Jaylen Wright, a 2024 fourth-rounder, missed time with a knee injury.
Through the first three weeks of the season, Gordon has logged 12 carries for 50 yards and a touchdown. Entering Week 3, Wright didn’t have an injury designation, but he didn’t play a snap against the Buffalo Bills. With Gordon’s emergence, he may need a change of scenery to see significant playing time.
The Chargers should offer the Dolphins a late-round 2026 draft pick for Wright.

The Dallas Cowboys are going to be shorthanded going into their highly anticipated Week 4 game against the Green Bay Packers.
ESPN’s Todd Archer reported Monday offensive guard Tyler Booker will miss four-to-six weeks after he suffered a high ankle sprain in Sunday’s loss to the Chicago Bears. He pointed out the offensive line is already without center Cooper Beebe for at least three more games.
What’s more, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported wide receiver CeeDee Lamb suffered a high ankle sprain as well and likely won’t take the field against Green Bay. Schefter wrote that “the Cowboys want to see how Lamb is doing the next 10-14 days before making further determinations about his status.”
Team owner Jerry Jones provided an update on the outlook for both players:
Here is a look at the updated offensive depth chart with so many injury concerns looming:
Lamb suffered his injury in the first half against the Bears, and the offense struggled to build any type of consistency without him on the field.
While Chicago gave up 52 points against the Detroit Lions the previous week, it held Dallas to a mere 14 points and picked off Dak Prescott twice. It also intercepted Joe Milton III after the backup entered the game in the fourth quarter.
The Cowboys offense looked nothing like the unit that put up 40 points in its Week 2 win over the New York Giants.
Things only figure to get more difficult against the Packers. The shorthanded offensive line will be tasked with blocking Micah Parsons, who will be firmly under the spotlight in the matchup against his former team following the headline offseason trade.
Green Bay gave up just 13 points to the same Lions team that destroyed the Bears and is yet to allow more than 18 points in a single contest.
It appears to be one of the best defenses in the league in the early going this season, and Prescott will have his hands full without his top weapon in the receiver room and with some of his offensive line missing.
If the Cowboys lose again, they will be 1-3 and facing an uphill battle to get back into the postseason picture in the NFC.

Both Los Angeles Chargers running back Najee Harris and Arizona Cardinals halfback James Conner appeared to suffer major injuries on Sunday, calling into question their availability for the foreseeable future.
For fantasy players, meanwhile, the outlook for Omarion Hampton and Trey Benson became a major talking point.
Hampton was expected to be the main man in the Chargers’ backfield by many even with Harris in Los Angeles, though through two games he only had 72 rushing yards on 23 carries.
He nearly doubled that Sunday, however, rushing for 70 yards and a touchdown against the Denver Broncos. Even more promising for fantasy players is that he added six catches for 59 yards on seven targets.
Because Justin Herbert and the Chargers have been throwing the ball with a lot of success, it’s hard to trust Hampton to be much more than an RB2 for your fantasy team. But he’s now unquestionably the feature back in Los Angeles, and that makes him very valuable going forward.
Benson didn’t seem to seize on his newfound workload with quite the same panache, finishing Sunday’s game with 10 carries for 42 yards while adding three catches for nine yards. He was pretty clearly the No. 2 option in a timeshare with Conner to start the season but like Hampton should be in line for a more featured role going forward.
How productive he is in that role remains to be seen. For now, he’s best considered a very solid flex option who absolutely should be your top waiver priority if he’s available in your league.
San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy is “highly unlikely” to start but could still play in Sunday’s Week 3 matchup…

A number of NFL teams are going to have to rely on their backup quarterbacks in Week 3, but don’t expect the Atlanta Falcons to entertain trade offers for their own backup, Kirk Cousins, at the moment.
“So I reached out to some people, and I don’t get the sense that Atlanta’s moving Cousins right now,” The Athletic’s Dianna Russini reported during Monday’s Scoop City podcast (11:47 mark).
Injuries are certainly piling up at the quarterback position around the NFL:
Whether Cousins would even be a meaningful upgrade over any of those players at this stage in his career is another question entirely. The 37-year-old threw for 3,508 yards, 18 touchdowns and 16 interceptions in 14 games last season, taking 28 sacks and completing 66.9 percent of his passes.
In a five-game stretch between Nov. 10 and Dec. 16, Cousins was absolutely dreadful, throwing just one touchdown pass to nine interceptions. The Falcons were 1-4 in those contests and went from leading the NFC South at 6-3 to a .500 record and trailing the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Cousins was benched for rookie Michael Penix Jr. after that five-game stretch and the Falcons ultimately missed the playoffs, closing the season with a pair of overtime losses.
Atlanta would have eaten $65 million in dead money had it released Cousins this offseason, either counting entirely against its books in 2025 or as $40 million in 2025 and $25 million in 2026 had he released with a post-June 1 designation.
Trading him would have left them on the hook for $37.5 million in remaining proration (and it’s likely they would have needed to eat some salary as well in a deal). Instead, the Falcons decided to keep him on the books as Penix’s backup, and for now it appears they plan to maintain that current setup.
