The Pittsburgh Penguins took to the ice for practice in Dallas on Saturday, and it appears that two players may be poised for a return to the lineup when they face the Stars on Sunday.

Forwards Justin Brazeau and Noel Acciari – who missed all of November with upper-body injuries – took line rushes with the team at practice. In addition, the Penguins re-assigned forward Joona Koppanen to their AHL affiliate in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (WBS).

It’s safe to say that the Penguins have been missing both players in their everyday lineup, so getting either player back for Sunday’s game would be a welcome sight. With the return of Brazeau, the Penguins would be getting back one of their two injured top-six players – which should help matters with scoring, as Brazeau has six goals and 12 points in 12 games this season.

Brazeau reunited with Evgeni Malkin and Anthony Mantha on the “mutant line,” while Acciari slotted back in on the fourth line.

Here were the lines and pairings at Saturday’s practice, which shifted around a bit with Brazeau and Acciari back in the mix:

– It is worth noting that even with Koppanen re-assigned to WBS, the Penguins will still have to make a roster move in order to activate both Brazeau and Acciari from injured reserve.

Boko Imama is the most obvious candidate, as he won’t need to pass through waivers since he has been with the team for less than 14 days. But another thing to keep in mind is that rookie defenseman Harrison Brunicke’s conditioning loan will come to a close after he plays his fifth game with WBS on Saturday against the Hershey Bears, and he currently occupies a roster spot with the NHL roster.

Obviously, the easiest thing would be to option Imama, especially as the Penguins will likely lend Brunicke to Team Canada for the World Junior Championship, assuming he is named to the preliminary roster. But it’s still something to keep in mind.

Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Earns Big Win Over Lehigh Valley On Friday

Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Earns Big Win Over Lehigh Valley On Friday Wilkes-Barre/Scranton got a big win over Lehigh Valley on Friday night.

– Arturs Silovs has only started one of the Penguins’ last five games, in which he gave up four goals on 16 shots against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Nov. 29 and was pulled after the fourth.

It stands to reason that Silovs will, likely, get one of the Penguins’ next two starts, but it’s becoming increasingly clear that the Penguins have – at least, temporarily – decided on Tristan Jarry as their primary goaltender.

The Penguins have won the four games that Jarry has started since he returned from IR, and they lost the sole game Silovs started. Silovs has given up eight goals in his last two starts after a very promising start to the season – and he was pulled in both appearances.

After getting back from a seven-game road trip, Thursday nightâ€s game against the New York Rangers wasnâ€t exactly the homecoming the Ottawa Senators had in mind. J.T. Miller had three assists as the Rangers defeated the Senators 4–2 at Canadian Tire Centre.

But the bigger loss for Ottawa might be centre Shane Pinto, who suffered a lower-body injury, joining the clubâ€s expanding list of walking wounded. Pinto, Ottawa’s top goal scorer (12), was injured in the first period on what appeared to be an innocuous body check from former Senator Mika Zibanejad.

Down near the end boards in Ottawa’s end, Pinto tried to jump on a loose puck, but as he looked up ice, he took his eye off the puck and missed it, and it slipped off his stick blade. As he opened up to regroup and try to get his stick back on the puck, thatâ€s when Zibanejad made contact. That left Pinto briefly off balance, and his skate appeared to get jammed into the base of the boards.

Before leaving, Pinto went for a brief skate, trying to test out his lower body injury during a stoppage before deciding he couldn’t continue.

Senators head coach Travis Green, as is customary, said he hoped to know more about Pinto’s prognosis on Friday. When Friday came, all Green would say was that Pinto wouldn’t be available for the next game, scheduled for Saturday night against the St. Louis Blues.

“Heâ€s a big loss,†Green told TSN during their Thursday broadcast.

After getting Brady Tkachuk back in the lineup last week, after he had missed 20 games with a thumb injury, the Senators were hoping for a run of good luck in the injury department. Instead, Thomas Chabot was re-injured, and Artem Zub and Lars Eller also missed Thursdayâ€s game. All are now listed as day-to-day, though Zub is expected back on Saturday night.

And now Pinto is banged up as well.

As for Thursday’s game, the 4-2 loss to the Blueshirts, Artemi Panarin hit the 900-point mark for his career with a goal and an assist. Drake Batherson and Dylan Cozens had the Senators†goals, and Leevi Meriläinen stopped 23 of 27 shots. Igor Shesterkin was excellent and always seems to have the Senators’ number.

Brady Tkachuk had an assist in the game and moved past Wade Redden on the Senators†all-time scoring list. He is now in fifth place with 411 points.

The Senators are back at it on Saturday at home against the St. Louis Blues at 7:00 p.m.

Chelsea have been without Cole Palmer for more of this season than they would have liked.

The nonchalant 23-year-old was the Blues’ talisman last season, netting 18 goals and providing 14 assists across 52 appearances in all competitions.

Chelsea’s need for a fit and fighting Palmer was laid bare in their trip to face Leeds United, where they were undone in a 3-1 loss to the recently promoted side.

Thankfully, however, there was at least one positive to take from Elland Road.

That was the return of Palmer, whose last minutes came towards the end of September against Manchester United.

He had been an unused substitute against Arsenal last weekend, but made it onto the pitch against Leeds, playing almost 30 minutes.

“Probably it’s the only good news of the night,” Enzo Maresca admitted after the final whistle. “I’m happy for him, he’s back, now he needs to build a little bit the physical condition and he will be important for us, for sure.

“He’s getting better, but he needs to play minutes. Last night, he had more or less half an hour; hopefully, we can give him more in the next game.”

The next logical step would see Palmer get around an hour, so barring another freak incident, we could see the attacker start against Bournemouth.

In FourFourTwo‘s opinion, this is massive news for Chelsea, a positive to cling onto as the Leeds result threatens to throw them slightly off course.

The Blues have threatened Premier League title chasers Arsenal and Manchester City this season, even without Palmer for the most part.

He has performed miracles in poorer Chelsea teams than this, so if he can get up to speed with the current iteration of the side, Maresca’s men could become a real force.

Palmer is worth €120m, according to Transfermarkt. Chelsea next face Bournemouth, when Premier League action returns this weekend.

The Milwaukee Bucks beat the Detroit Pistons 113-109 despite losing the NBA’s two-time Most Valuable Player Giannis Antetokounmpo to injury early in the match.

Antetokounmpo, 30, fell to the floor in the third minute and had to be helped off court by his team-mates.

The Bucks trailed by 18 points in the first quarter, but fought back at Milwaukee’s Fiserv Forum to claim just their second win in 10 games.

Kevin Porter Jr registered 26 points for the Bucks, with Ryan Rollins adding 22 and AJ Green scoring 11 of his 19 in the fourth quarter to fuel the comeback.

“It was a hell of a win,” Bucks head coach Doc Rivers said.

“We get down early, miss wide open, great shots, but we just couldn’t get anything to fall.

“And Giannis gets hurt… to fight back, it just shows a lot of stuff about this team.”

Detroit remain top of the Eastern Conference after their fifth loss of the season, with Milwaukee sitting 10th.

The Bucks initially thought Antetokounmpo had strained his right calf, but are awaiting confirmation after the Greek power forward had an MRI scan.

Before the match, rumours had emerged via ESPN that Antetokounmpo was “mulling his future” with the franchise.

But Rivers said there had been “no conversations” about a possible trade.

Elsewhere, James Harden and Kawhi Leonard combined for 48 points to help the Los Angeles Clippers end a five-game losing streak with a 115-92 win at the Atlanta Hawks.

Jamal Murray scored a season-high 52 points as the Denver Nuggets beat the Indiana Pacers 135-120 in Indianapolis.

As relayed by the Spaniard before Bayern’s visit, Gyokeres and fellow forward Kai Havertz are set to be watched carefully over the next 48-72 hours.

“Really good, both of them,” he began. “In the next few days, they’re going to have a repeat scan to see how everything is and where we can push them for the weekend.”

“Well, we have to look at the individuals and make sure that they are ready, if it’s to start a game like this, and the second one, for how long they can play.

“We need to be very mindful as well of how many of those players we put on the pitch because most of them are not going to be able to finish 90 minutes. So we need to be conscious about the subs that we need to use, how we’re going to use them, and the windows that we have.

“In order to be very efficient with our decision-making throughout the game and we’ll plan in regard to that.”

Arsenal are also waiting on Gabriel Jesus’ long-awaited return, too, with the Brazil international edging ever closer after suffering an ACL tear last season.

It is thought the Gunners are set to play Manchester United in an Under-21s behind-closed-doors friendly next week, with the Red Devils also keen to get Lisandro Martinez some vital minutes in the tank.

Liverpool boss Arne Slot has today provided a fitness update regarding midfielder Florian Wirtz.

The Germany international sustained an injury whilst on duty with Julian Nagelsmann’s side earlier this month and has since failed to feature in recent games against Nottingham Forest and PSV.

Wirtz is still clearly getting accustomed to the high-paced demands that Premier League football brings.

Many in the past have cited how quickly the game passes you by in England, with the former Bayer Leverkusen man still adapting to his new surroundings and team-mates, on Merseyside this season.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference ahead of the clash with West Ham, Liverpool boss Slot gave an update on the fitness of Wirtz, among others.

“Alisson trained with the team, we hope and expect him to be fit,” he began.

“Florian [Wirtz] will have final rehab day tomorrow, so could train on Saturday if all goes well. Hugo [Ekitike], today was [in] recovery but they don’t expect it to be a big issue. Let’s see, games come fast, but it shouldn’t be an issue.”

Wirtz sustained a muscle injury, which has kept him out of both of Liverpool’s most recent outings, a 3-0 defeat against Nottingham Forest and Wednesday’s 4-1 loss at home to PSV in Europe.

Asked about the pressure on his job at present, Slot gave a fighting response, with some reports suggesting he now has just two games to save his position on Merseyside.

Chelsea are still awaiting the return of key forward Cole Palmer.

Palmer, 23, has been out of action for the Blues since September, last featuring for Enzo Maresca’s side in their 2-1 defeat against Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Will Cole Palmer play against Arsenal?

Mustering only four appearances for Chelsea so far this season, Palmer will be desperate to get back to action, especially with time running out for him to stake a claim in Thomas Tuchel’s England plans.

The Three Lions boss has shown a willingness to reward those players who are featuring week in, week out for their clubs so far, and the 23-year-old will have to fix up and look sharp (pardon the pun) if he wants to be included on that plane journey to the USA in the summer.

Asked on Monday ahead of the Blues’ 3-0 win over Barcelona this week, manager Maresca admitted Palmer featuring against Arsenal later this week may come a tad too soon.

“We don’t know when, but for sure it will be soon,” Maresca told a news conference on Monday. “He’s already on the pitch, he’s already touching the ball and the feeling is good.

“We are here for tomorrow’s game that is Champions League and then after that we start to think about Arsenal.”

Pushed on whether he Palmer could play, Maresca replied: “I don’t think so at the moment.”

It’s now over two months since we last saw the former Manchester City man in action for Chelsea, but his team-mates have coped pretty well without him all things considered.

Estevao’s goal against Barcelona in midweek has quickly seen many draw comparisons between him and Lamine Yamal, whilst Liam Delap also found the net to help ease the pressure on his performances as of late.

Alejandro Garnacho is also starting to come into his own, whilst Pedro Neto has quietly gone about his business too when required, as the Blues prepare for a huge home clash against Arsenal in the Premier League this weekend.

Who comes out in that one? Will Chelsea record a vital victory, or will the Gunners extend their gap at the top of the table? Let us know in the comments…

The latest update Arteta gave was ahead of last weekend’s North London derby victory over Spurs, in which the Spaniard said he expects Gabriel to be out of action for a prolonged period.

“He’s going to be out for weeks,” he said. “It’s clearly a blow because it’s our leader in our backline and to me it’s obviously never a positive thing. The good thing is that we have very good options and people have to stand up now and do their job.”

But Arteta opened up on the opportunity the 27-year-old’s injury brings, admitting there is now a chance for some to step up and stamp their authority.

“I think he was really good,” said Arteta when asked about Mosquera’s performance against Bayern. “With Piero [Hincapié], we need to understand where he’s coming from. He came from Ecuador after playing two 90s in big trouble – played the derby, the first start that he had in the Premier League, and he finished the game very, very tired.

“[But] that’s the good thing that we have Mosquera who he can play in different positions. He was superb I think, both together with William [Saliba].

In FourFourTwo‘s view, we think Gabriel is unlikely to feature until at least the Wolves game on December 13, with games now coming thick and fast for the Gunners.

It’s a period which will really test the character of this Arsenal squad, who some are considering heavy favourites for the Premier League title.

Do you think Arsenal have what it takes? Or will Gabriel be too big of a miss? Let us know down below…

Warriors expect injured Steph Curry to miss ‘week or a little more,’ per report originally appeared on NBC Sports Bay Area

The Warriors will have to navigate the next week or so without superstar guard Steph Curry.

Golden State expects Curry to miss “a week or a little more†because of a quad contusion he sustained in Wednesday nightâ€s loss to the Houston Rockets, ESPNâ€s Shams Charania and Anthony Slater reported Thursday, citing sources.

The good news for the Warriors, per Charania and Slater, is that Curry appears to have avoided a serious injury.

Warriors coach Steve Kerr told reporters after Wednesdayâ€s game that Curry was scheduled to undergo an MRI.

Curry sustained the injury late in the fourth quarter against the Rockets, and while he initially played through the injury, he was forced to head to the locker room in the final seconds of the loss.

Bottled up by the Rockets†defense, Curry finished with 14 points on 4 of 13 shooting from the field and 2 of 9 from 3-point range.

If Curry misses exactly one week, he wonâ€t play in the Warriors†next three games — at home against the New Orleans Pelicans on Saturday, at home against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Tuesday, Dec. 2 and on the road against the Philadelphia 76ers on Thursday, Dec 4.

Beyond that, the Warriors have a road back-to-back against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Saturday, Dec. 6 and the Chicago Bulls on Sunday, Dec. 7.

Because the Warriors didnâ€t qualify for the 2025 NBA Cup quarterfinals, they wonâ€t play again until Thursday, Dec. 11 or Friday, Dec. 12.

So if Curry needs more than a week to recover, he could eye the unannounced regular-season game.

The Warriors went 1-2 when Curry missed a three-game stretch earlier this season due to an illness.

Sitting at 10-10 ahead of Saturdayâ€s game against the Pelicans, Golden State appears to be at an inflexion point, with Draymond Green and Jimmy Butler calling out their teammates following Wednesdayâ€s loss.

Wins already are hard to come by for the Warriors right now, and that task will be even tougher without Curry for the next few games.

It appears a Pittsburgh Penguins‘ netminder – and one of their young forwards – is one step closer to his return to game action.

Goaltender Tristan Jarry – out since Nov. 4 with a lower-body injury – was a full participant in Penguins’ practice on Monday, as was 22-year-old forward Ville Koivunen. Jarry took reps with the main squad – along with tandem partner Arturs Silovs – while Koivunen skated with the defensive group.

Rookie Sergei Murashov – who is 1-1-1 with a .913 save percentage and 1.90 goals-against average – still participated in practice but was the third goaltender in the rotation.

Jarry, 30, was off to a good start this season before his injury, as he is 5-2 with a shutout and a .911 save percentage. He has worked hard to rebound from a tough season in 2024-25, which included waivers, an AHL stint, and an .893 save percentage.

Koivunen got off to a slow start production-wise this season, and he ended up in the AHL for a short stint, where he produced four goals and 11 points in six games before getting the call back to the big club. He has just two points in 11 games with the Penguins so far, but he had started to build some momentum in his game prior to his injury.

With the Penguins severely injury-depleted right now – and with a 2-4-3 record in November – they’d welcome back any of their injured players as soon as possible.

Forwards Justin Brazeau, Rickard Rakell, and Noel Acciari also skated before practice, and previously injured defenseman Jack St. Ivany – along with rookie Harrison Brunicke, who was a healthy scratch for seven straight games – was sent to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (WBS) for a conditioning stint.
