Matt Hardy is ready to make history—again.
The legendary tag team will face off against NXT Tag Team Champions DarkState (Dion Lennox & Osiris Griffin) in a Winner Takes All showdown on October 7. Not only will the NXT gold be up for grabs, but the TNA World Tag Team Titles—currently held by the Hardys—will also be on the line.
Their last WWE appearance came during Roadblock in March, where they retained the TNA titles against Fraxiom (Nathan Frazer & Axiom). Now, the stakes are even higher. Matt Hardy addressed their WWE return and the importance of the match in a tweet, making it clear the mission is all about legacy.
“Next week on #WWENXT, itâ€s gonna be Title vs Title. The Hardy Boyz versus Dark State with both the NXT & TNA Tag Team Titles on the line.
“We NEED the NXT Titles. Donâ€t miss this. Nothing stops the Hardy Train. NOTHING.â€
Jeff Hardy has also publicly stated that winning the NXT Tag Team Titles is one of the last things on his “list of things to accomplish†in WWE, adding an emotional layer to what could be one of their final runs as a team.
Also set for WWE Showdown is a North American Title match, as Ethan Page defends against Mustafa Ali. But the spotlight will firmly be on the tag title collision—because for the Hardys, itâ€s all or nothing.
