Fans hoping for another wild cinematic Hardy Compound match at WWE NXT Halloween Havoc are going to be disappointed. Despite a spooky video package that teased the atmosphere of past “Broken Universe†adventures, Matt Hardy made it clear that their match against Dark State will be a standard, in-ring bout.

During the October 23, 2025 episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Bryan Alvarez initially speculated that the match might lean into the cinematic style the Hardys are known for. But Dave Meltzer immediately shut it down, citing direct confirmation from Matt Hardy himself.

“No, no, no, no. They… no, no, no. Matt Hardy said that itâ€s gonna be a regular match.â€

Meltzer added that Hardy was intentional in making sure fans knew this match would be live in the building and not pre-taped in some eerie North Carolina forest.

“He actually said that. Yeah. He said, ‘I made youâ€â€¦ Theyâ€re gonna be in the building. Because they wanted to make sure that fans knew… They donâ€t have a ton of tickets—itâ€s a small building. Theyâ€ll probably pack it. But they wanted to make sure everyone knew that the Hardys were going to be wrestling there.â€

The Hardys are set to face the dark and unhinged team of Dark State, a rising faction in NXT known for their chaotic brawling and unorthodox presentation. While a cinematic match may have suited the tone, this decision to keep things live makes it clear that WWE wants the spectacle in front of the fans—and to capitalize on the nostalgia of seeing Jeff and Matt perform live.

This wonâ€t be a trip through the Lake of Reincarnation, but it could still be a throwback to the Hardys†hard-hitting roots.

Would you have preferred a cinematic match, or are the Hardys better off wrestling live in front of the NXT crowd? Please share your thoughts and feedback in the comment section below.

Matt and Jeff Hardyâ€s TNA run has been one of the companyâ€s biggest draws since their return last year—but recent reports raised questions about their future. With their contracts reportedly set to expire this fall, Matt Hardy has finally addressed where things stand.

Speaking on The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy podcast, Matt responded to the rumors that he and Jeff were nearing the end of their current TNA deals. While he didnâ€t confirm anything outright, Matt strongly hinted that a new agreement might already be in place—just not a long-term one.

“We may have re-signed already — who knows? I donâ€t know if Iâ€d say 10 years though. I donâ€t think you could talk me into that unless youâ€re giving me that Saudi Arabia money. We might just squeeze in a couple years instead. Thatâ€s kind of what weâ€ve talked about and what weâ€re doing.â€

The line about “Saudi Arabia money†was clearly a joke, but it drove home the point that the Hardys are not interested in signing massive multi-year deals at this stage in their careers. Instead, theyâ€re looking to keep things flexible while still contributing meaningfully to the TNA brand.

Mattâ€s comments suggest that both he and Jeff want to stick around, but on terms that allow them creative freedom and space to manage their schedules and health. Considering Jeff recently suffered a head injury at Bound For Glory, shorter-term deals might be the right call for both brothers.

So while thereâ€s still no official confirmation from TNA, all signs point to the Hardys staying put—for now.

Matt Hardy just got emotional—and rightfully so. On October 15, 2025, he marked 33 years since he and Jeff Hardy first entered the world of professional wrestling, and he took to Twitter to lay it all out.

Sharing a powerful before-and-after photo of the Hardy Boyz—from their very first promo pic in 1992 to their latest defense at TNA Bound For Glory—Matt opened up about the surreal journey he and his brother have taken from their hometown in Cameron, North Carolina, to becoming wrestling legends.

“If you told young 1992 us we would experience all the success we have, we wouldnâ€t have believed it.â€

He didnâ€t stop there. Matt poured his heart out, thanking the fans, TNA, and a higher power for keeping him and Jeff going all these years.

“Grateful for our loyal & dieHARDY fanbase. Grateful for the opportunities weâ€ve earned & been given. Grateful to God weâ€re as healthy as we are after all the punishment weâ€ve put our bodies thru.â€

Matt also mentioned how proud he is that their work has inspired generations of wrestlers and fans. Itâ€s clear this milestone isnâ€t just about titles or longevity—itâ€s about impact.

“Grateful weâ€ve been able to inspire multiple generations.â€

He wrapped it up with a thank you to the fans whoâ€ve supported them since day one, saying their journey has been nothing short of a dream come true.

“Thank you for letting these 2 kids from Cameron, NC live their childhood dreams & thrive in life. We are both SO blessed. With that said, itâ€s time to go to work in year number 34.â€

From ladder matches to comeback stories, the Hardy Boyz have done it all—and according to Matt, theyâ€re not done yet.

Matt Hardy shares his thoughts after The Hardy Boyz†emotional win over The Dudleys at TNA Bound For Glory.

At TNA Bound For Glory, The Hardys Boyz defeated Bully Ray and D-Von Dudley in a brutal Tables Match to retain both the TNA and NXT World Tag Team Championships, ending their epic rivalry in an emotional showdown.

Following the match, both teams showed respect by embracing in the ring. In a touching moment, Bully Ray and D-Von removed their boots and handed them to The Hardys, symbolizing the official retirement of The Dudleys.

Bully Ray has announced that his upcoming event at Jimmyâ€s Famous Seafood in Baltimore will now serve as his official “retirement party.†Meanwhile, Matt Hardy has opened up about The Hardy Boyzâ€s historic and emotional victory over The Dudleys.

He shared his reaction on X, formerly known as Twitter, reflecting on the emotional moment when The Hardys put Bully Ray through the table. He wrote, “This match def consisting of strong storytelling, @Graannt. It wasnâ€t meant to be a Flair/HBK finish, it had our own personal spin on it. Not to be disrespectful towards the rest of the amazing roster on this show, but this is the match that set the new attendance record. People cared about the Hardy/Dudley rivalry. Doesnâ€t matter what internet nobodies say on social media, The Hardy Boyz sell tickets in 2025.â€

“The Hardys/Dudleys match at BFG 2025 reminds me of The Final Deletion from 2016. Itâ€s initially gonna be polarizing & people will either love it or hate it. As time passes, people will look back at this match as a masterclass performed by four 30 year+ grizzled vets. This match was historic & special. Iâ€m proud of myself, @JEFFHARDYBRAND , @bullyray5150 & @TestifyDVon for making magic together one final time. Thank you for the opportunity & platform, @ThisIsTNA.â€

The Hardy Boyz just walked away from one of the most emotional matches of their careers — and itâ€s left them reflecting on life, legacy, and survival.

Following their showdown with The Dudley Boyz (Team 3D) at TNAâ€s Bound For Glory, Matt and Jeff Hardy sat down with Undisputedâ€s Justin Barrassoto talk about their journey and what keeps them going after decades of punishment inside the ring. Matt Hardy said the difference between then and now comes down to time and wear.

“The biggest difference between then and now is Father Time. The amount of abuse weâ€ve put our bodies through. Tell you the truth, I didnâ€t think Iâ€d be alive in 2025.â€

Jeff explained that heâ€s committed to a new wellness routine that includes daily cold plunges, something thatâ€s been key in keeping him mentally and physically sharp after years of chaos.

“It was madness back in the early 2000s.â€

The Hardys†match against Bubba Ray and D-Von Dudley was promoted as the final chapter in their legendary rivalry, one that defined tag team wrestling during WWEâ€s Attitude Era. After the Hardys retained their TNA and NXT World Tag Team Titles, the Dudleys left their boots in the ring — a symbolic gesture marking the end of their career together. Matt reflected on what their battles with the Dudleys meant to him.

“We created so many special moments over so many years. Weâ€ve worked so closely together that that chemistry is closely ingrained in all of us.â€

For fans, the sight of two of wrestlingâ€s most iconic teams closing this chapter was a powerful reminder of how far both duos have come. For Jeff Hardy, it was also a reminder that survival itself is a victory.

Following their historic and emotional victory over their legendary rivals, Team 3D, at the TNA Bound For Glory pay-per-view, Matt Hardy has shared his thoughts on the match and the shocking post-match retirement ceremony. The Hardys defeated Bully Ray and D-Von Dudley in a brutal Tables Match to retain both the TNA and NXT World Tag Team Championships, bringing an end to their 27-year rivalry.

Speaking in a post-show interview, Matt Hardy discussed his confidence going into the match, but also his genuine shock at what transpired after the bell.

“I knew we were going to go to war with Team 3D, I was confident we would beat Team 3D. Weâ€ve been on an absolute regular grind, weâ€re doing well for ourselves, especially at our age. Weâ€re both very healthy, very physically fit. Those guys havenâ€t done this in a while, so I thought we would be able to pull off the win tonight and get that W, establish ourselves as the greater of the two teams. They came out looking for a knockout, no doubt, 3Ds right off the jump, right out of the gate. But what I was shocked about was that when the match ended, they took off their boots. They called it a career, I did not expect that. And they gave us their boots, which was the ultimate sign of respect.â€

Hardy also reflected on what has been one of the most successful and decorated weeks of his entire career, in which The Hardy Boyz captured three different sets of tag team championships.

“What a week. We became the NXT Tag Team Champions, we became House Of Glory Tag Team Champions, and then we went on to retire Team 3D, the Dudley Boyz, our biggest nemesis over the last quarter of a century. If you donâ€t think weâ€re the best in the game right now, I donâ€t know what youâ€re thinking. I have four words for everyone, the GOATs are here.â€

TNA President Carlos Silva has fueled speculation that the legendary Hardy Boyz have re-signed with the company, posting a positive and forward-looking message on social media just one day before their historic match at the Bound For Glory pay-per-view. The message comes in the wake of a recent report from Fightful which stated that the one-year contracts Matt and Jeff Hardy signed in November 2024 were set to expire next month.

On Saturday, Silva took to his X (formerly Twitter) account to thank the brothers for their contributions to TNA. This may imply they’ve re-signed.

He wrote, “Thank you to Matt and Jeff for being part of the @ThisIsTNA team. Such a pleasure to work with you and look forward to many years of positive vibes together. @MATTHARDYBRAND @JEFFHARDYBRANDâ€

The post was made on the same day that The Hardys and their Bound For Glory opponents, Team 3D (The Dudley Boyz), appeared together at a special fan Q&A event in Saugus, Massachusetts. The uncertainty surrounding their contract status has added another layer of intrigue to their match at Bound For Glory tonight. They will face off in a Tables Match with both the TNA and NXT Tag Team Championships on the line.

Matt and Jeff Hardy’s lives and careers will be the subject of a pair of wrestling autobiographies, the legendary brothers have shared. Speaking to The Wrestling History Channel, Matt shared that both men could write individual autobiographies given all that has happened in and out of the ring.

Jeff then shared that he has already began working on his book. Jeff won’t hold back, as he shared that his book will deal with his past alcoholism head on.

“I got four years†worth of journaling throughout my alcoholism. So, Iâ€ve already started trying to go back to each page and write one, but itâ€s a huge project. I might end up needing a little help.”

These books won’t be the first time that fans will get to read about the lives of Matt and Jeff Hardy. In 2003, the pair penned ‘Exist 2 Inspire,’ while both were with WWE. Given the date, the book would miss several key moments of the pair’s lives, including their runs in TNA Wrestling, WWE return in 2017, and issues with the law.

Currently, Matt and Jeff are competing in TNA, where they hold the TNA World Tag Team Titles. The duo also hold the 4th Rope Wrestling Tag Team Titles, the NXT Tag Team Titles, and most recently won tag gold for House of Glory Wrestling. The pair will battle Team 3D (Bully Ray & Devon) at TNA Bound for Glory 2025.

With a career most tag teams could only dream of, the lives of Matt and Jeff will make for a thrilling read. Time will tell if these ideas ever make it to bookshelves, but Jeff is already working on making his book a reality.

The Hardy Boyz are riding high on a wave of momentum as of October 12, 2025, ahead of their title defense against Team 3D at TNA Bound For Glory.

Jeff Hardy (48) and Matt Hardy (51) are in the dusk of their wrestling careers. Team 3D (Bubba Ray and D-Von Dudley), who pioneered the TLC match alongside The Hardy Boyz and Edge & Christian, will wrestle for the last time this Sunday. They will challenge for the TNA Tag Team Championship and the NXT Tag Team Championship, both of which are currently in possession of The Hardys.

The Hardy Boyz Only Signed A One-Year Deal With TNA

The Hardy Boyz signed with TNA in November 2024 for another run. Fightful Select has confirmed those were one-year deals. Sources in the company have said that the deal has been mutually beneficial and a lot of positive has emerged from it. It should not surprise anyone that Jeff and Matt Hardy are still heavily in demand and have stayed hours after TNA shows to honor meet-and-greets.

While TNA hopes to retain them, at the time of this writing, their contracts will be up next month. Unless a contract extension has been discreetly negotiated, The Hardy Boyz will be on their way out sooner rather than later.

Matt Hardy Hints At Retirement From In-Ring Competition

During an episode of TNA Impact three months ago, Matt Hardy articulated his thoughts regarding the latest run of The Hardy Boyz. According to Matt, they don’t want to overstay their welcome, and the business will move on long after they retire.

Weâ€re being very real with ourselves, and we donâ€t want to overstay our welcome, because the business will move on after the Hardy Boyz are gone,†he said.

Meanwhile, Jeff Hardy has openly stated earlier this year that the “perfect ending” to his wrestling career would be a world title win and, most importantly, a WWE Hall of Fame induction.
