SPOTLIGHTED PODCAST ALERT (YOUR ARTICLE BEGINS A FEW INCHES DOWN)…
I have a Mercedes Mone promo in the article this week, but it’s not the one you saw on Dynamite this week. This is a pop quiz to see who watched Collision this week because if you didnâ€t, your lasting image of Mone is her in the ring covered in cake. In my opinion, the promo she cut on Collision is what she should have done on Dynamite this week.
The more I thought about the Willow Nightingale celebration segment this week the more I didnâ€t like it. I even went back and watched it again and on the second watch it worked even less for me. Iâ€m just not sure why this had to be played as a comedy angle, from the entrance when Harley Cameron and Kris Statlander couldnâ€t get their party poppers to go off to Mercedes Mone covered in cake (again) by the end of the segment. Donâ€t even get me started on the conga line they did at the end either.
Willow Nightingale just beat Mercedes Mone for the TBS Title after she was the reigning champ for 500-plus days. I just donâ€t understand why that should be celebrated in a comedy segment. I thought Willow was kind of awful on the mic this week and – as someone described it during the Wade Keller Pro Wrestling Post-show – “Substitute Teacher, Willow†was back in class. Give me the Willow who cut that awesome promo on FTR a few months ago, not the annoying substitute teacher who is trying to keep up with the actual teacherâ€s lesson plan. Roll in the TV on that metal cart we all know and love growing up in public schools and put on a movie.
Imagine how this segment goes if Willow comes out and cuts a serious promo about overcoming Mone and how it was a defining moment in her career. Then you have Mercedes come out (who looked great, by the way; the veil she had over her face was incredible) and have her look at Willow and cut the same exact promo she cut on Collision (see below), but in the ring. Now you are leaving people with an, “Oh god, what is Mone going to do when she comes back?†rather than just have her lying in a ring covered in cake.
I would guess more than half of the AEW regular audience didnâ€t even see her promo on Collision and thatâ€s a mistake. It was the same type of promo that MJF cut before he left for his hiatus a few months ago and everyone praised it and it made the anticipation for his return even more palpable. I donâ€t think this Mone spiral should be treated as a comedy angle. I thought Mone falling into another cake was lazy writing. So…
Mercedes Mone – Collision 1/10/26
It goes without saying, but I highly suggest you go watch the promo that Mone cut on Collision this week. It is one of the best promos sheâ€s had since sheâ€s been in AEW. She has a line at the beginning: “Heroes donâ€t build divisions. Icons do. I am undeniable.†What a cold-blooded line.
Now imagine her hitting Willow with that line in the ring and then Willow could react to that by responding on the mic or having her use her facial expressions to tell the story.
Mone also talks about how she “elevated†the division and that she is going to take a break from the division to show everyone just how much she elevated it. Mone also talks about how when she comes back, she is going to start collecting more than just titles.
Mercedes Mone is coming back to snatch peopleâ€s souls, and I am here for it. I thought her tone was perfect in this promo and it really got me hyped for her return. I have always been a fan of Mercedes in-ring skills, but was never really a fan of her mic work or acting abilities. I think this last month, beginning with her backstage promo at Worldâ€s End, Mone has really elevated her mic work and acting skills.

MJF (AEW World Heavyweight Champion) and Bandido – Dynamite 1/7/26
Another strong week for MJF on the mic and another week of him scaling back the “open mic night” insults. Bandido also played his part extremely well in this segment and it really elevated the excitement I have for this match next week.
Iâ€d be lying if I said I wasnâ€t nervous when MJF walked out with a translator, but I thought it just all worked perfectly. The only misstep I would say would be MJF awkwardly holding onto the ropes with his ass in the air for too long so he could take the 21 Plex. It would have been so much easier and a better visual to just find a way to have Bandido clock MJF with the Dynamite Diamond ring.
MJF calling himself a “Lucha Libre Legend†and telling Bandido he was going to “put in a good word with Tony Khan for you, kid†was so good. They missed a merchandise idea by not selling MJF “Lucha Libre Legend†t-shirts, if you ask me.
I also thought they had a great shot of Bandido while MJF was talking to him, and you could see the intensity in Bandidoâ€s eyes as MJF was running him down. I thought Bandido did such a good job just telling a story with his eyes in this segment.
The translator gimmick made me worried at first, but I thought they absolutely nailed it, and Bandido telling MJF “I speak English, you stupid son of a bitch†was just a perfect ending to this segment.
MJF just does so many small things that you donâ€t notice on a first watch like when he simply said to the translator “translate my friend.†Calling someone your “friend†while you order them to do something is just something a dick like MJF would do. Iâ€m really excited about this match, and Iâ€m also excited to see how the Dynamite Diamond ring comes into play which we all know it will.
India’s Virat Kohli has become the No. 1 batter in ODIs after more than four years, as per the latest ICC Rankings.
Kohli played a vital knock of 91-ball 93 to help India beat New Zealand by four wickets in the first ODI of a three-match series against New Zealand in Vadodara on Sunday. The performance helped the 37-year-old Indian displace compatriot Rohit Sharma, who slipped to third, at the top of the men’s batting rankings.
Kohli is in the middle of an incredible purple patch – scoring 74 not out, 135, 102, 65 not out and 93 in his last five innings in the 50-over format. As a result, he has become the No. 1 ODI batter for the first time since July 2021. He first became the top-ranked batter in ODIs in October 2013. This is his 11th different spell at the No. 1 ODI batter. As of today, he has been at the top for a total of 825 days – 10th most by any player, and the most by an Indian batter.
KL Rahul, who finished the chase for India with an unbeaten knock of 21-ball 29, gained one place to move to No. 11 while captain Shubman Gill and vice-captain Shreyas Iyer stayed in No. 5 and No. 10 spots, respectively.
IND vs NZ 2nd ODI, Live Score
New Zealand’s Daryl Mitchell, who hit 71-ball 84 to lead the Kiwis to a challenging score of 300, moved up one spot to No. 2.
Mitchell’s teammate Devon Conway climbed three spots to secure the 29th position as he continues to score runs at the top.
India pacer Mohammed Siraj has risen five spots to sit in 15th position along with Bangladesh’s Mehidy Hasan Miraz in the ODI bowler rankings.
New Zealand fast bowler Kyle Jamieson, following a career-best performance of 4 for 41 runs, has jumped 27 places — moving up to joint 69th position, where he shares the spot with Indian pacer Arshdeep Singh.

India faces New Zealand in the second India vs New Zealand ODI on Wednesday with a 1–0 lead in the three-match series. New Zealand has won the toss and decided to bowl first against India. India won the first match in Vadodara by four wickets while chasing 301, with Virat Kohli scoring 93 off 91 balls and playing the key role in the chase.
Kohli and Rohit Sharma continue to lead India’s batting. Kohli’s form has been strong, and his 93 in the first ODI helped India stay ahead despite a brief collapse after his dismissal. He has now scored five consecutive fifty-plus scores in ODIs and become the fastest player to reach 28,000 international runs.
New Zealand showed fight in the first ODI. Devon Conway and Henry Nicholls put on a 117-run opening stand, and Daryl Mitchell scored 84 to take them to 300. However, dropped catches and middle-order mistakes hurt their chances.
India will look to take a 2–0 lead in the three-match series after winning the first ODI in Vadodara by four wickets. New Zealand will aim to respond strongly in Rajkot to keep the series alive.
India vs New Zealand 2nd ODI 2025: Playing XIs for the 2nd ODI
For the 2nd India vs New Zealand ODI, India are dealing with injury problems. Washington Sundar has been ruled out for the rest of the series with a side strain, and Nitish Kumar Reddy has been added to the squad as his replacement. Rishabh Pant was already ruled out after getting injured during practice, which led to Dhruv Jurel being picked.
New Zealand still had some positives even though they played with a relatively inexperienced team. Devon Conway and Henry Nicholls both scored half-centuries and gave the team a strong start at the top of the order. Daryl Mitchell once again performed well against India with an important innings. Kyle Jamieson stood out as the best fast bowler in the match.

Weather and Pitch Report for India vs New Zealand 2nd ODI
The weather in Rajkot for the second ODI between India and New Zealand is expected to be sunny and dry throughout the day. The temperature is likely to reach around 28°C in the afternoon and drop to about 22°C by the evening. There is no rain predicted, so a full match is very likely.
The pitch at the Niranjan Shah Stadium is expected to be flat and batting-friendly. The surface has historically supported big scores, and with clear weather, teams should get a full 100 overs to either set or chase strong totals. It is expected that batters will enjoy the conditions, particularly if dew is present under lights. Dew may benefit the batting side in the second innings by making it more difficult for bowlers to grasp the ball.

In lieu of an England debut, the Republic of Ireland have been in touch with Dewsbury-Hall because of his family heritage, and Everton captain Seamus Coleman has also asked him about making the switch.
“I see myself as English and have it in my head that I can play for England,” Dewsbury-Hall told Everton’s club channels. “I don’t want to lead people on about what I want to do because I respect the Irish people and fans.
“I just want to give myself a chance to play for England, which is a lifelong dream. I’m playing for a massive club that’s on the up, and I still believe I can do it.”
That belief is backed by evidence. Dewsbury-Hall is Everton’s joint-leading Premier League scorer this season, alongside Ndiaye, with four goals – as many as he managed in his previous 62 appearances combined for Leicester, Chelsea and the Toffees.
His two assists put him joint top for goal involvements with Ndiaye and Grealish, while only Grealish has created more chances and won possession more often in the final third for Everton in the league this season.
Dewsbury-Hall has created more chances, won possession more and made more tackles in the league this season than England’s recently used number 10s, including Morgan Rogers, Phil Foden, Jude Bellingham, Morgan Gibbs-White and Palmer.
Palmer and Bellingham have both had injuries, but only Foden has scored more goals (six) and only Rogers has more assists (three) than Dewsbury-Hall.
“His performances will have already alerted Thomas Tuchel,” said Osman, who made 437 appearances in central midfield for Everton.
“James Garner and Grealish are trying to get into the England team as well, but Dewsbury-Hall’s performances in recent weeks have probably made him the outstanding candidate.
“When you’re talking about going into tournament football, you’ve got a player that can cover three or four roles and be outstanding in any of them.”

WWE Is Concluding 2025 Filled With Much Emotions And Tearful Goodbye To John Cena
There’s no Premium Live Event scheduled for this month; however, WWE is setting the stage for John Cena’s final match.
The wrestling legend who has been almost synonymous with the company for nearly 23 years is saying goodbye to WWE fans at SNME XLII this weekend. He faces Gunther on December 13 and hangs up his wrestling boots for good.
John Cena announced his retirement last year and commenced this year with his Farewell Tour. He crossed off multiple points from his checklist – winning his 17th WWE World Championship, last time matches with former rivals, and becoming a Grand Slam Champion, among other things.
John Cena’s influence and popularity extend beyond the WWE ring, making him a global icon across pop culture. A Last Time Is Now Tournament was conducted to determine his final opponent. Mercedes Mone and The Beast Mortos have celebrated the anniversary of their first date, sharing the milestone with fans.
Often seen publicly together and very vocal about their relationship, Mortos posted an Instagram Story marking the occasion, featuring a photo of the couple kissing at a restaurant with a glass of wine on the table. Keeping with lucha tradition, Mortos hid his face in the picture with an emoji.
“Anniversary of our first date,” wrote the Mexican wrestler.
The couple has been openly affectionate on social media. Mone publicly confirmed their relationship earlier this year during an interview with TMZ after Mortos previously shared a photo of them.
Mone was previously married to Sarath Ton, a costume designer for WWE and former pro wrestler; however, they divorced back in 2024. Mortos previously wrestled under the name Black Taurus. He is currently pursuing a legal career alongside his role as a wrestler on All Elite Wrestling.
John Cena Sr. once encouraged Mercedes Mone in the indies
Recollecting a very old incident recently, John Cena Sr. opened up on the Best For Business podcast about how he had once encouraged a disheartened Mercedes Mone.
“Iâ€ll give you another one that was one that I picked: Sasha Banks,†Cena Sr. said. “Where she is now? We can have a different story about that. Where she is now and where she was — I remember doing a show with her for Chris Setaro and Powerhouse Wrestling. And her mom was there and she said, ‘You know, I donâ€t know, maybe, I donâ€t know, I think I might give it up.â€
“I said, ‘No! Donâ€t. You donâ€t realize what you have.†She had so much ability, but, you know, itâ€s awful hard on the indies. Itâ€s not an easy fight out there.”
Mone stood strong and transitioned herself into one of the most popular names in the business.

It looks like MJF is finally on his way back to AEW, and heâ€s not coming back empty-handed.
Bryan Alvarez dropped a major update on Wrestling Observer Live, confirming that Maxwell Jacob Friedman has wrapped up his film commitments and is expected to return as early as next weekâ€s AEW Dynamite—just in time for the Dynamite Diamond Battle Royal at Holiday Bash in Manchester on December 17, 2025. Alvarez didnâ€t leave much room for doubt when it comes to MJFâ€s participation in the Battle Royal, where the former World Champion has been untouchable for years:
“Now, the Dynamite Diamond Battle Royal has been taking place for what, five years now. And every single year, the winner of that ends up being MJF,†Alvarez said. “Nobody else has ever won the ring. So, I canâ€t say 1000% that MJF is going to be in that match, but I mean, MJFâ€s going to be in that match. He has no film commitments at this moment.â€
Even more interesting—MJF has already been spotted backstage at AEW shows. Alvarez confirmed:
“In fact, he has actually been backstage. I donâ€t know how many times, but he has been backstage at least once recently. And, they tried to keep it lowkey, but he has been there. So, heâ€s returning.â€
And when it comes to the AEW World Championship picture? MJF is still very much in the mix. Alvarez reminded listeners that Friedman still holds the contract that guarantees him a future title match.
“Of course, he has the briefcase (contract) or whatever to get the championship match. So, conceivably, he could also be in that Worldâ€s End four-way main event for the title or how many people it is,†Alvarez explained. “So I presume heâ€ll make his return for the Battle Royal, then weâ€ll see what happens with the Worlds End main event.â€
MJF hasnâ€t been seen in action since after his surprise loss to Mark Briscoe at All Out 2025, but with the Dynamite Diamond ring on the line and the Worlds End main event looming, his return could shake up AEWâ€s landscape fast.
Do you think MJF walks back into AEW and takes the Diamond Ring for the sixth straight year—or is he coming for that World Title next? Drop your thoughts in the comments and let us know where you stand.

Although India captain Suryakumar Yadav took the responsibility for not having batted deeper into the chase in the India vs South Africa 2nd T20I, the problem seems to be much more than just a failed chase.
While a defeat in the second game of a home bilateral T20I series is rarely remembered by the fans, the Indian T20I teamâ€s issues are slowly cropping up. And that is despite India winning all their T20I series since their triumph at the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.
Where Gautam Gambhir stormed into the role of Indiaâ€s coach last year after his role as a mentor in KKRâ€s IPL 2024 victory, his tactics now are being questioned; the general feeling is that Gambhir is overdoing his tactics in T20Is with his all-rounder theory and the constant shuffling of the batting order.
Matters for Gambhir and Suryakumar have been further compounded by the lean run with the bat in T20Is for Suryakumar and vice-captain Shubman Gill.
The fact that the Gambhir-Suryakumar management group decided to replace Sanju Samson with Gill in spite of Samsonâ€s stunning form as an opener last year.
In the IND vs SA 2nd T20I, played on a good pitch in Mullanpur, Gill and Suryakumar both had a great opportunity to ransack runs and even hit a match-winning knock as India were set a tall target of 214.
But the duo failed, the opener bagging a golden duck and the captain scoring 5 (4). In T20Is in 2025, Gill has averaged 23 and Suryakumar only 14, with neither of them getting even a single half-century in their combined 31 innings!
While captain Suryakumar has plenty of credit in the bank—the team is on a winning run in T20Is under him, and his match-winning ability in the shortest format is staggering—Gill getting Samsonâ€s place as an opener and also being appointed the vice-captain as the BCCI aims to establish him as the new all-format lynchpin remains a baffling case study.
Not to forget that Yashasvi Jaiswal isnâ€t even part of the T20I squad anymore even though he was part of the T20 World Cup-winning squad last year and not Gill.
It was a game where four of Indiaâ€s key match-winners—Hardik Pandya, Abhishek Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, and Arshdeep Singh—underperformed, and others failed to step up.
Add to it the decision to promote Axar Patel to No. 3, who struggled markedly in his innings of 21 (21) in Mullanpur, and Gautam Gambhir has plenty of questions to answer to himself.
