West Ham United have been handed a timely fitness boost ahead of their clash with Leeds United.

The Hammers are still searching for their first win under new boss Nuno Espirito Santo, after the former Nottingham Forest head coach took over the reins from Graham Potter.

Despite making a somewhat steady start to the season, Leeds are without a win in their last three Premier League outings.

A respectable 2-2 draw with Bournemouth preceded losses to both Tottenham and Burnley, and now manager Farke is set to deal with an additional headache when it comes to his latest team selection.

As relayed by Farke in his pre-match press conference previewing Friday’s game, the Whites will be without forwards Noah Okafor and Willy Gnonto, as the pair continue to step up their respective returns from injury.

“We have to take some late decisions,” began the Leeds boss. “Okafor and Gnonto making good progress, but not able to complete team training this week. More realistic for Noah to be involved. Some illness in the group. [Ethan] Ampadu and [Pascal] Struijk missed team training.”

Defenders Ampadu and Struijk missing out will cause further problems for Leeds, and it is likely that 26-year-old summer signing Jaka Bijol is set for a Premier League debut.

Having so far only played in the EFL Cup, Bijol will be keen to make an impression if called upon, having arrived from Udinese in the summer. He has so far been unable to disrupt the longstanding partnership of Joe Rodon and Struijk.

In FourFourTwo‘s view, West Ham are unlikely to get a better chance at success than on Friday evening, with Leeds’ injury list something of a real worry for Farke.

Predicted Leeds line-up: Darlow, Bogle, Rodon, Bijol, Gudmundsson; Longstaff, Gruev, Stach; Harrison, Aaronson, Calvert-Lewin.

Ruben Amorim’s Manchester United are seeking back-to-back league wins for the first time in the Portuguese head coach’s Old Trafford tenure.

Tasks don’t come much harder than the one before the Red Devils this weekend as they make the short journey to Merseyside where they will meet Arne Slot’s Liverpool.

The Premier League champions have hit a bit of a rough patch of late, relinquishing their grip on top spot to Arsenal, who have taken 16 points from their opening seven games.

Liverpool’s early season form has waned in recent weeks, losing 2-1 to Crystal Palace and Chelsea in the Premier League, either side of a 1-0 defeat on the road to Galatasaray.

Man United, on the other hand, have registered the highest Expected Goals (xG) total in the entirety of English football’s top flight and looked much better than recent showings in their 2-0 win versus Sunderland before the international break.

However, due to the international fixtures, any momentum Amorim had generated with his team’s win over the Black Cats risks dissipating before this weekend’s game at Anfield.

This is because several of the head coach’s key players have not been able to train with the rest of the squad, instead participating in matches for their respective countries.

In many cases, significant travel obligations go hand-in-hand with international participation and Man United are not immune.

Matheus Cunha, Amad Diallo and Casemiro were all missing from Amorim’s main training session on Thursday morning, while Lisandro Martinez and Noussair Mazraoui, each returning from injury, are also anticipated to miss out.

Perhaps the biggest potential miss for Man United is Bruno Fernandes who was also granted additional leave by the club following Portugal’s international fixtures.

The Old Trafford skipper started both Portugal matches during October’s domestic break, latterly against Hungary on Tuesday.

In the absentees’ places, Amorim padded out his core training group with a select number of youngsters, including Shea Lacey who was invited to train with England’s senior group last week.

Liverpool vs Manchester United kicks off at 4:30pm on Sunday afternoon.

Ravindra Jadeja on India’s dominant win:'Clarity in my role helps me pace my innings'

NEW DELHI: Indiaâ€s formidable home dominance in Test cricket, built on the extraordinary duo of Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin, came into sharp focus on Saturday as the senior all-rounder led India to a crushing innings-and-140-run victory over the West Indies in Ahmedabad. Jadeja starred with a scintillating 104 not out and 4/54, earning ‘Player of the Match†honours, but he candidly admitted he missed his long-time spin partner.Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. SUBSCRIBE NOW!“Obviously, we miss him. Ash has contributed so much to Indian cricket for so many years. He has been a match-winner,†Jadeja said with a smile when asked about Ashwinâ€s absence. Reflecting on Indiaâ€s first home Test since Ashwinâ€s retirement, he added: “Playing a Test in India without Ash, somewhere it feels Ash would bowl now but then the realisation comes that he is not there.â€Jadeja praised the teamâ€s emerging spin options, saying Kuldeep Yadav and Washington Sundar had played enough games to not be considered youngsters, but acknowledged the different combination posed challenges. “In future, you will say Jaddu is not there but then someone else would come along and that has to happen. This will go on,†he noted.

Who do you think will be the next big match-winner for India after Jadeja and Ashwin?

On Indiaâ€s declaration, Jadeja explained the tactical thinking: “We were thinking about the declaration last night because we thought on this wicket, 280 plus runs would be good enough.†He also reflected on his vice-captaincy tag, emphasising that it has not changed his approach. “Nothing like that. I have been playing the way I have been playing for the past so many years. But whenever someone asks me, what we can do, what the tactics should be… I always give my inputs,†he said. The all-rounder credited adjustments in mindset and skills for his batting resurgence, having scored seven fifties in Indiaâ€s last six Tests. “It feels good to be contributing to the team… I have changed my mindset a bit and made a few changes,†Jadeja said. On fitness, he added: “Luckily, God has been kind that I didnâ€t have many injuries and I have worked on my fitness… All that is making a difference on the ground. It feels good that I am giving my 100 per cent.â€
