The biggest chase of the baseball card year is back, as Topps has announced 2025 Topps Chrome Update will be available for presale beginning Nov. 10.
While the Nov. 10 preorder date could change—many recent releases have seen preorder and on-sale dates moved around—Baseball America is here in the meantime with a rundown of items for collectors to get excited about in the upcoming release.
MLB Debut Patches For 2026
Topps Chrome Update annually includes the hugely popular hunt for autographed 1/1 Rookie Debut Patches. This year’s crop likely includes Nick Kurtz, Roki Sasaki and Dylan Crews, with more big names coming. While the formal checklist has not yet been released, based on Baseball America research, those three would be among 276 Debut Patches in this year’s set.
The only MLB Debut Patch officially confirmed by Topps so far is that of Twins outfielder Luke Keaschall, the image of which they have posted on their Chrome Update preview page:
Introduced in 2023, the Debut Patch chase has rapidly become the biggest in the hobby, thanks in large part to the popularity of last year’s Paul Skenes Debut Patch hunt. That card was found by an 11-year-old in California on Christmas morning and later sold at auction to Dick’s Sporting Goods for $1.11 million. Fans can now see the card on display at one of their stores in Pittsburgh.
Assuming this year’s checklist is, indeed, made up of 276 patches, it would be the most ever. Last year’s Topps Chrome Update had 251 patches, and the 2023 release had just 91.
MVP Buyback Program
Here’s another interesting wrinkle in Chrome Update: According to Topps, If Cal Raleigh wins AL MVP, his base card in Chrome Update would be eligible for the Topps MVP Buyback program since he did not have a base card in this year’s Topps Chrome release. The program offers collectors $20 or more in buyback credit for each card of eligible award winners.
The MVP announcement is not likely to come until a few days after the Nov. 10 preorder date.
Rookies & Inserts
In addition to the Debut Patches and possible MVP buybacks, Chrome Update is also known for its huge rookie classes and fun inserts—and this year looks to be no different.
Early product images released by Topps show the Chrome rookie cards for Nick Kurtz and Matt Shaw. Topps says new inserts for 2025 Chrome Update will include Fortune 15, Night Terrors and Power Players.
How To Buy Topps Chrome Update 2025
Given that Topps usually sets preorders to occur about four weeks before a product’s release, collectors should expect a likely sale date during the week of Dec. 8. Stay tuned to Baseball America in the event of updates.
Topps has not yet announced pricing and formats for the preorder. Last year’s preorder included hobby boxes featuring one guaranteed autograph (around $200) and jumbo boxes featuring three guaranteed autographs (around $400).
Once available, you will be able to preorder 2025 Topps Chrome Update here.
Fans hoping to see Alberto Del Rio return to the WWE spotlight will have to wait a little longer. WWE and Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide have officially canceled their upcoming joint event in Mazatlán, Sinaloa, which was scheduled for November 15, 2025. The event was set to feature Del Rio—formerly WWEâ€s self-proclaimed “Mexicoâ€s Greatest Exportâ€â€”as one of its headliners.
In a joint announcement issued on October 15, officials from WWE, AAA, and Promotora Mr. Fuego cited escalating security concerns in the region as the reason behind the cancellation. The U.S. Department of State currently lists Sinaloa under a Level 4 “Do Not Travel†advisory due to widespread violence and instability.
“We hereby inform you that the event scheduled for November 15 in Mazatlán, Sinaloa has been canceled by joint decision of the leadership of Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide v WWE, due to security concerns.â€
“We deeply appreciate your support, passion, and understanding. We will return soon with a new card, hoping that peace and tranquility return to Sinaloa.â€
Ticket refunds will begin on October 20 through official channels, and fans are being assured that once the region is stable, the show will be rescheduled.
The event had drawn additional attention because of Del Rioâ€s involvement. After his storyline exile from AAA and limited appearances on the indie scene, many fans had begun calling for WWE to bring him back full-time. WWE had reportedly inherited Del Rioâ€s AAA obligations following its deeper involvement in Latin American promotions.
A petition circulated online, urging WWE to reintroduce Del Rio to television—citing his legacy, fan base, and what many still consider unfinished business. But for now, his return to the global spotlight remains in limbo.
Despite the disappointment, WWE and AAA emphasized that the safety of performers, staff, and fans was the priority—and made it clear that they plan to return to Mexico when conditions allow.
Should WWE give Alberto Del Rio another full-time run, or has his time passed? Please share your thoughts and feedback in the comment section below.
San Antonio Spurs star Victor Wembanyama named former franchise legend Tim Duncan as part of the best NBA starting lineup of all time.
Wembanyama listed the Hall of Famer alongside LeBron James, Stephen Curry, Michael Jordan and Shaquille O’Neal when describing his all-time starting five at the 12:40 mark of Tuesday’s episode of LOL Network’s Cold As Balls with Kevin Hart.
The episode aired after Wembanyama debated in September on a live Q&A broadcast on the Spurs’ Instagram whether Duncan or Kobe Bryant would be ranked higher on the NBA’s all-time list.
Duncan, who won two MVP awards and five NBA titles during his legendary 19-year career with the Spurs, has reportedly been involved in Wembanyama’s development since the franchise drafted the star in 2023.
Wembanyama, who missed the end of the 2024-25 season following the diagnosis of a blood clot in his right shoulder in February, has reportedly gained both height and weight while training for his return. ESPN’s Michael C. Wright reports that he has also “added upper- and lower-body strength” ahead of his age-22 campaign.
The 7-foot-4 center will look to follow in Duncan’s footsteps by leading the Spurs back to postseason contention, starting with next Wednesday’s season opener against the host Dallas Mavericks.
South Africa vs Namibia (Screengrab) During their first-ever international encounter, Namibia secured a remarkable victory over South Africa in a historic Twenty20 international match on Saturday, thanks to wicketkeeper Zane Green’s explosive late-game performance. Green remained unbeaten at 30 runs, contributing 23 runs in the final two overs of this first-ever international clash between the neighbouring African nations. Green’s decisive performance included a powerful hook shot for six runs off Andile Simelane’s first delivery in the final over, with 11 runs needed. He sealed the victory by hitting the last ball to the midwicket boundary. The match celebrated the inauguration of the Namibia Cricket Ground, which will serve as one of the venues for the 2027 Cricket World Cup, jointly hosted by South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia.”You can see what it means, for the team and the crowd,” said Namibian captain Gerhard Erasmus after leading his players on a victory lap in front of a capacity crowd. “The guys did it with good skill.”South Africa fielded a weakened team, as several key players, including regular captain Aiden Markram, were in Pakistan for an upcoming Test series in Lahore. Despite all players having international experience, they struggled against Namibia, who had recently qualified for next year’s T20 World Cup in India.”We weren’t good enough,” admitted stand-in South African captain Donovan Ferreira. He noted that their defense was hampered by fast bowler Gerald Coetzee’s chest muscle injury, forcing him to leave after bowling just nine balls. The South African innings got off to a poor start when Quinton de Kock, making his first international appearance since the 2024 T20 World Cup, was dismissed for a single run in the opening over. The team struggled to gain momentum on the slow pitch, managing only 134 runs for eight wickets after choosing to bat first.Ruben Trumpelmann, who began his cricket career in South Africa, claimed three wickets for 28 runs. Newcomer Max Heingo took two quick wickets, reducing South Africa to 65 for five in the eleventh over. The final scorecard showed South Africa at 134-8 in their allotted 20 overs, with J. Smith scoring 31 runs and Trumpelmann taking three wickets for 28 runs. Namibia successfully chased down the target, finishing at 138-6 in 20 overs, with Green’s unbeaten 30 leading them to a four-wicket victory.Brief score: South Africa 134-8 in 20 overs (J. Smith 31; R. Trumpelmann 3-28) v Namibia 138-6 in 20 overs (Z. Green 30 not out)
Fifa are likely to schedule World Cup matches involving major European nations after midnight UK time next year in an effort to combat heat issues that affected the recent Club World Cup.
It had been anticipated World Cup kick-off times would mirror those at the Club World Cup, when the earliest games started at 17:00 BST, followed by 20:00, 23:00 and 02:00.
However, while 17:00 and 20:00 would suit European broadcasters, the former would be a midday kick-off on the United States east coast and the latter a midday kick-off on the west coast.
Paris St-Germain manager Luis Enrique complained about his team having to play in near 40 degree heat in their Club World Cup opener against Atletico Madrid in Los Angeles, which started at 12:00 local time.
Numerous coaches and players were affected by the heat and humidity, with Chelsea’s Enzo Fernandez complaining of dizziness while playing.
Asked during his speech at the Leaders Conference in Twickenham for the major lessons learned from the Club World Cup, Victor Montagliani, who as president of the North and Central American Confederation Concacaf is in charge of the event, replied: “Kick-off times.”
With 48 teams at the World Cup, there are 11 consecutive days in the group phase that have four games, each played at different times, when 12:00 kick-offs were expected to be commonplace.
While five of the 16 stadiums being used in the United States, Canada and Mexico either have roofs as standard or a sliding roof that can offer shade, it is impractical for all the early kick-offs to be scheduled in them.
When pressed to expand on his comments, Montagliani, who is also a vice-president of world governing body Fifa, said: “Kick-off times are always an issue in our region because summers are hot in Canada and US.
“We’re having conversations daily with European media and other world media, in terms of what’s best and which are the stadiums that you can play at 3pm. That’s all in the mix now.
“Once the actual schedule comes out after the draw, we will do our best to ensure it’s taken into consideration. Will it be that every game will be absolutely perfect from a kick-off time, from a TV perspective? I don’t know.”

CMLL “92ND ANNIVERSARY SHOW” REPORT
SEPTEMBER 19, 2025
MEXICO CITY, MEXICO AT ARENA MEXICO
REPORT BY ZACH BARBER, PWTORCH CONTRIBUTOR
Do not adjust your screens. This isnâ€t my normal beat, but CMLL presented itâ€s 92nd Anniversario show, its equivalent of WrestleMania. For the first time ever they presented the show with an English commentary team so I decided to check it out. Here are my thoughts.
Production:
As I mentioned, this event marked the first time in its history that CMLL offered English commentary for one of its shows. The speculation per Luchablog is that it was a Triller call which is makes sense given tha=t the English commentary was only available on the Triller feed and not on CMLL’s regular YouTube subscription channel which also carried the show.
From the moment the show started, it was apparent that from a technical standpoint the commentary was thrown together. The show began with the commentators (Veda Scott, Samuray del Sol fka Kalisto, and Miguel Castro) literally testing their mics on air. There were audio blackouts that marred the first 15 or so minutes of the show and happened sporadically throughout. I think this was a function of the commentary having to be patched over the actual audio feed of the show.
Initially I thought the ring was mic’d poorly but that may actually have been an issue caused by this weird audio mix. The other major production issue I noticed – also possibly caused by the audio issues – was that the viewing audience couldnâ€t hear the announcer make ring introduction. Samuray del Sol had to do the intros himself.
Commentary:
Veda Scott continues to be the most underrated announcer in the game. The fact that a major promotion hasnâ€t snapped her up is crazy. She worked her ass off as the glue that held this commentary team together. It was evident from the start that this team came in at a deficit having never worked together before. Veda did her homework and competently conveyed the background of each match to the audience. Samuray del Sol was able to add some color about Lucha and the Luchadors. Miguel definitely felt like a third wheel most of the time but he shined in the Mistico-MJF match.
Arena/Vibe:
Arena Mexico is such a unique and cool-looking venue. The crowd was loud and boisterous for everything including military band/mariachi performance in between the second and third matches. It was wild how much more over “Cielito Lindo” was at this show than a lot of the musical performances on WWE shows.
Matches:
Lluvia & La Jarochita vs Reyna Isis & Persephone
This match opened the show. In addition to the aforementioned audio issues, this match simply wasnâ€t very good. The women didnâ€t have much chemistry and even though Lucha rules are looser, having all four women in the match most of the time was a little much. All of that said, the sold-out crowd in Arena Mexico ate this up. They booed vociferously when Lluvia & La Jarochita got the win. Still, I wish the show had started hotter and I definitely wish the Womenâ€s Division had been given an opportunity to redeem itself.
Villaino III Jr & Hijo del Villiano III vs Angel del Oro & Niebla Roja
An improvement on the first match, for sure. These two teams did battle for the CMLL World Tag Team titles. The use of the Lucha tag rules in this one wasnâ€t as obnoxious as in the first match. The action was solid with both teams flying around the ring and the faces repeatedly going for submissions until they were able to lock on simultaneous swinging surfboards to retain their titles. Interestingly, the crowd was much more on the side of the heel Villiano brothers and actually booed the outcome.

Atlantis Jr. & Neón, & Mascara Dorada vs. Hechicero & Volador Jr, & Zankodan Jr. – Two out of Three Falls
This was the chaotic spotfest that youâ€d expect from these six. Mascara Dorada is a tremendous talent. He was executing high-flying moves with such fluidity and ease. Dorada scored the first fall on Zankodan Jr. before getting triple-teamed by all three heels and pinned by Hechicero. Dorada got even though, scoring the decisive fall for his team with his beautiful shooting star press on Hechicero.
Difunto & Barboza vs. TÃtan & Templario – Copa Independencia final
Difunto officially has my new favorite lucha mask. Itâ€s this really cool pirate skeleton thing. That said, this match was good although not as good as the one before it. The commentators were starting to gel more at this point and did a good job telling the story of TÃtan and Templario going from rivals to partners. This match featured another double pin, which must be a staple of lucha wrestling. The faces going over makes sense given that it seems like CMLL is trying build up this unlikely partnership.
El Felino vs. Rey Bucanero (Hair vs. Hair)
This was the legends match on the card (Felino is 61, Bucanero is 51). Once I realized these were older luchadors, I wasnâ€t expecting much, but I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. Felino was still pretty spry for his age, even hitting a top rope huracanrana at one point. It was still the slowest match on the card though, which it made it stick out, although it wasnâ€t bad by any means.
The finish was both historic yet unsatisfying. Each man kicked the other low in full view of the referee resulting in a double disqualification and, for the first time ever, both combatants getting their heads shaved. Itâ€s just nice to know that bad finishes arenâ€t just limited to American promotions. I did like the added touch of having a professional barber on hand to do the hair cutting, though.
Mìstico vs. MJF – Mask vs Title
As well-worked and incredible as “Hangman” Page vs. Kyle Fletcher, I have to give the slight edge to MÃstico and MJF for match of the weekend. This was everything you want in pro wrestling. From the moment “Mi Muero” hit, MÃstico may as well have been a deity. All of Arena Mexico was behind him. MJF was the perfect foil as the nationalistic American heel.
MJF attacked MÃstico before the bell. He ripped a hole in MÃsticoâ€s mask and slammed him face first into the ringpost which split him wide open. From that point on, MÃstico fought from underneath bleeding like a stuck pig the entire time. The crowd would will him to rally and MJF would quickly quash it. MJF reversed an attempt at La Mistica into a tombstone. He hit a package piledriver on the apron and then demanded the ref count only for MÃstico to narrowly make it back into the ring.
MÃstico rallied one last time hitting a crazy standing top rope huracanrana and successfully put MJF in La Mistica. MJF attempted to reach the rope, but MÃstico rolled through and re-applied the hold. This time he cranked it and forced MJF to tap much to the thundering adoration of the crowd. CMLL owner Salvador Lutteroth came out with his son to present MÃstico with the CMLL World Light Heavyweight Title. This was incredible. Excellent work from both men and the atmosphere just put over the top. A match of the year contender in my book.
Drágon Rojo & Barbaro Cavernario vs. Esfinge & El Valiente vs. Último Guerrero & Averno
The rules to this main event were unique. Essentially it was two matches in one. In the first match, three teams of rivals competed in a triple threat elimination tag match. The action was fast and furious. It also gave Último Guerrero and Averno, who are on the older side the luxury of not having to carry a match themselves.
Each wrestler had a chance to shine before Esfinge eliminated Cavernario and Rojo by pinning Cavernario after a 540 Kick. Rojo then fought Cavernario up the ramp to the back. Último Guerrero and Averno were the next go following a double pin off of a simultaneous lung blower and top rope splash.
That left Esfinge and Valiente to battle in a mask vs. mask match. They went around 20 minutes. Valiente worked over Esfingeâ€s arm early. Esfinge mounted a comeback and hit a 540 kick which Valiente kicked out of. He also kicked out of a top rope splash. Esfinge finally got win with a painful looking twisting figure-four into a bridging pin. The show closed with Valiente unmasking.
Overall Thoughts:
I thought this was a very fun show that didnâ€t overstay its welcome. The show got better after the clunky opener and peaked with the incredible MÃstico-MJF match, although the main event was more than solid. Given the relationship between CMLL and AEW, the exposure of the CMLL talent to an American audience. I think it would behoove CMLL to consider making English commentary a regular feature of their programming so that theyâ€re show is more accessible to a non-Spanish speaking audience.
AEW
During Sting’s final match at AEW Revolution 2024, his sons, Garrett and Steven, both made their way down to the ring, donning his “Surfer Sting” Great American Bash 1990 attire and his red Wolfpac “Crow” Sting attire respectively. As previously reported, Sting’s younger son, Steven, is training to follow in his father’s footsteps and his first match has been announced.
According to a press release for the upcoming 52W Hardway show in New York City has revealed that Borden will be performing a live match alongside Darby Allin and former WWE talent Killer Kross. Additionally, the show will include others like AR Fox, Sid Ellington, Kiran Grey, Timothy Thatcher, and surprise musical performances. The aforementioned show is further described as an art exhibition, which will feature drawings by Raymond Pettibon and his lifelong love for pro wrestling, and that all the bouts for the show have been organized by Allin to spotlight all the wrestlers involved.
During a podcast appearance late last year, Allin commented on Borden’s progress in training and noted that neither party intended to rush him. Based on this, it seems that they intend to have second-generation wrestler try his hand in front of a smaller audience before likely debuting elsewhere. So far, it’s unclear whether he’ll don face paint like his father, or instead create his own character. In the past, Borden chose football over pro wrestling, despite having good things to say about Sting’s legacy in pro wrestling, but his participation in his father’s final match has seemingly swayed him to try to follow in his father’s footsteps.
Three matches are now set for AAAâ€s next television event.
During Saturdayâ€s live television event in Mexico City, three matches were set up for Heroes Inmortales on October 25. Dragon Lee defeated El Grande Americano and El Hijo del Vikingo in a three-way match to become the new number one contender for the AAA Mega title. Dominik Mysterio, who was on commentary, confronted Lee after the match and the two had a staredown as the show concluded.Â
Earlier in the show, Faby Apache defeated Flammer in a non-title match. That sets up a rematch from Triplemania for Heroes Inmortales, as Apache will now face champion Flammer and Natalya in a triple threat match for the Reina de Reinas title.
Pagano & Psycho Clown were successful on Saturday, retaining the AAA Tag Team titles against El Mesias and Mecha Wolf. After the match, they cut a promo saying that while they are injured, they still want to face the Wyatt Sicks, who attacked them at Worlds Collide earlier this month. A video then played featuring the Wyatt Sicks, revealing the date of their future match, October 25.
AAA Heroes Inmortales (October 25):
- AAA Mega title: Dominik Mysterio defends against Dragon Lee
- AAA Tag Team titles: Pagano & Psycho Clown defend against The Wyatt Sicks
- AAA Reina de Reinas title: Flammer defends against Faby Apache and Natalya

WWE provided a first look at the official poster for next year’s WrestleMania 42 on Tuesday.
In a post on X, WWE advertised WrestleMania 42 ticket sales and accompanied it with the poster, which features Brock Lesnar, Roman Reigns, Cody Rhodes, Becky Lynch, Rhea Ripley, CM Punk, Seth Rollins and Jade Cargill:
Lesnar’s inclusion is significant since he has not been part of WrestleMania since WrestleMania 39 in 2023 when he defeated Omos.
Prior to his match against John Cena at Wrestlepalooza this past weekend, Lesnar had not competed in a WWE match since SummerSlam 2023, but all signs point toward him being a significant part of the WrestleMania 42 card at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.
Lesnar is a multi-time WrestleMania main eventer, as are Reigns, Rhodes, Punk and Rollins. Reigns is the all-time record holder with 10 WrestleMania main events, and Rhodes has headlined three consecutive WrestleManias.
Rollins has been in the Night 1 main event back-to-back years, teaming with Rhodes to beat Reigns and The Rock at WrestleMania 40, and then beating Reigns and Punk in a Triple Threat at WrestleMania 41.
Lynch competed in the first-ever women’s match to main event a WrestleMania at WrestleMania 35 when she defeated Ronda Rousey and Charlotte Flair in a Triple Threat.
Punk was long outspoken about his dream of being in a WrestleMania main event, and he finally made it happen this year in the Night 1 Triple Threat against Reigns and Rollins.
Ripley has yet to be in a WrestleMania main event, but she is arguably the biggest women’s wrestling star in the company, and she has had countless memorable matches on the Grandest Stage of Them All against the likes of Flair, Asuka, Lynch, Bianca Belair and Iyo Sky.
Perhaps the most notable inclusion on the poster is Cargill, who has only been with WWE since 2023 and has yet to win singles gold in the company.
This year marked Cargill’s first singles match at WrestleMania, beating Naomi. She has also recently been embroiled in a rivalry with Tiffany Stratton over the WWE Women’s Championship, but she has fallen short of capturing the title thus far.
While plenty can happen between now and April 2026, it is probably a safe bet that WWE has big plans for the Superstars included on the WrestleMania 42 poster.
The ACC will join the Big Ten, SEC and Big 12 and play nine conference football games in future seasons.
The league announced Monday that its athletic directors voted in favor of future regular-season schedules that include nine conference games and at least 10 games against Power 4 foes.
“This positions the ACC as one of only two leagues committed to having every team annually play a minimum of 10 games against Power 4 teams,” ACC Commissioner Jim Phillips said in a statement.
“There will be additional discussions and more details to be determined, but today’s decision showcases the commitment and leadership of our ADs in balancing what is best for strengthening the conference and their respective programs.”
This comes after the SEC announced last month it will implement a nine-game conference schedule starting with the 2026 campaign. It also requires its schools to play at least one additional game against a Power 4 opponent or Notre Dame.
Part of the SEC’s scheduling change will also feature three locked-in opponents for each school that can rotate every four years.
On 3’s Chris Low reported on what those locked-in games will look like in the immediate future:
It remains to be seen whether the ACC will take a similar approach, and Phillips’ statement highlighted the number of decisions that still need to be made. But moving to nine conference games was key to creating more uniformity across the various conferences with the future format of the College Football Playoff still up in the air.
The Big Ten and the Big 12 already play nine conference games and would surely want the other power conferences to do the same if there are going to be a number of at-large bids up for grabs in future CFP formats.
After all, an additional league game means half of the teams in the entire conference will have another loss. Those losses will hurt their resumes and decrease the overall strength of schedule for other teams in the league looking for at-large bids.
That could be particularly important if a 5-11 model is eventually put in place that gives five automatic bids to conference champions and 11 at-large bids.
As for the ACC, it had just two teams in the inaugural 12-team CFP last season. It likely would have only had one if SMU had defeated Clemson in the conference title game, but both teams made the field just to lose in the first round.
While the Tigers are just 1-3 this season and don’t seem like a realistic contender, the conference appears to have more CFP threats as a whole with Miami, Florida State and Georgia Tech all off to strong starts.
