Nearly three weeks after signing him to a one-year deal, the Golden State Warriors have waived guard Seth Curry.

The 35-year-old journeyman, and brother of Stephen, isn’t expected to be gone too long from the Bay Area. According to ESPN’s Anthony Slater, there is an expectation that Curry will be back with the Warriors at some point early in the NBA season.

Curry was waived due to the Warriors’ lack of flexibility with their salary cap. They have $206.3 million committed to their roster, just below the second apron of $207.8 million and cannot fit Curry’s veteran minimum contract.

That means the 15th spot on the Golden State roster will be empty to start the season.

During the preseason, Curry practiced with the team and traveled with them on their only road trip, but he was inactive for games.

Curry spent the 2024-25 season with the Charlotte Hornets, where he averaged 6.5 points and 1.7 rebounds largely off the bench. He became a free agent at the end of the season. Should he end up back with the Warriors it would mark the fifth team that he’s played for in the past five seasons.

It would also mark the first time that the Curry brothers will be together on an NBA team. Stephen has been with the Warriors for his entire career after they took him with the No. 7 overall pick in 2009. The two-time MVP and two-time scoring champ been a centerpiece in their dynasty run that won four NBA championships. He averaged 24.5 points and six assists last season with the Warriors while averaging a league-high 4.4 made 3-pointers per game.

The Warriors went 48-34 last season and fell in the Western Conference semifinals for the second time in the past three seasons

This had always been the plan.

From the day the Warriors signed Seth Curry to play alongside his older brother Stephen Curry for the first time professionally, it was made clear that the Warriors were eventually going to cut and waive Curry, only to re-sign him a month or two later. That cut came on Saturday.

Team finances and the tax aprons drove this. The Warriors are hard-capped at the second apron (because they used the taxpayer mid-level exception to sign Al Horford). After agreeing to a new contract with Jonathan Kuminga, then soon after deals for Horford and Deâ€Anthony Melton, the Warriors were bumping up against that cap. One of Seth Curry or Gui Santos had to be waived to get under that hard cap to start the season, and Curry was always the guy going to get the time off (this was clearly communicated with everyone, including Stephen).

The Warriors can re-sign Seth Curry on Nov. 15, when they will have the space to sign a pro-rated minimum contract for the rest of the season. However, the Warriors may wait longer than that, maybe into December, just to give themselves more cushion against the tax apron line.

Seth, 35, shot 45.6% on 3-pointers last season on his way to averaging 6.5 points a game in Charlotte. His shooting and style of play mesh well with the Warriors once they re-sign him, in a month or two.

The Baltimore Orioles, seeking a new manager to guide their young, emerging core, have expressed interest in future Hall of Fame first baseman Albert Pujols, sources told ESPN.

The Orioles have yet to formally interview Pujols but are expected to as they seek a replacement for Brandon Hyde, who was fired in the early portion of what became a disappointing 87-loss season in 2025. Tony Mansolino, who took over as interim manager after Hyde was let go in May, is among the candidates for the full-time position, but the Orioles are also conducting an external search.

Orioles president of baseball operations Mike Elias was a scout for the St. Louis Cardinals while Pujols starred for the organization in the latter half of the 2000s. Pujols, 45, still shares a close relationship with former teammate Matt Holliday, father of Jackson Holliday, the 21-year-old infielder who is now one of the Orioles’ foundational players.

The Los Angeles Angels still appear to be the most likely destination for Pujols and remain the only team he has formally interviewed with, industry sources said. Pujols met with Angels general manager Perry Minasian in St. Louis last Thursday and is still highly considered for the job, though former All-Star outfielder Torii Hunter is also a serious candidate. The Angels’ hiring process, however, might be slowed by owner Arte Moreno and president John Carpino’s involvement in the civil trial over the death of pitcher Tyler Skaggs.

It was only a couple of years ago that the Orioles looked like a team on the rise, emerging from an aggressive rebuild to win 101 games and capture the American League East title in 2023. They returned to the playoffs with a 91-win season in 2024 but got swept out of the wild-card round and were not aggressive in their pursuit of starting pitching during the ensuing offseason. A 15-28 start led to Hyde’s firing on May 17.

The next 4½ months weren’t much better, but the Orioles are nonetheless an attractive destination due to a young, promising position-player core featuring Holliday, Gunnar Henderson, Adley Rutschman, Coby Mayo and Samuel Basallo. At the moment, they are among eight teams with manager openings, along with the Angels, Atlanta Braves, San Francisco Giants, Washington Nationals, San Diego Padres, Colorado Rockies and Minnesota Twins.

Pujols has expressed strong interest in managing at the big league level for years and led a Dominican winter ball team, the Leones del Escogido, to a championship in January. Pujols was previously named manager for his native Dominican Republic in next year’s World Baseball Classic, though he would likely rescind that role if he lands a big league job this offseason.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers rookie wideout Emeka Egbuka is “not expected to play” in Monday night’s matchup against the Detroit Lions due to a hamstring injury, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

It’s possible that the Bucs will be without their top three wideouts for the contest, with Chris Godwin (fibula) already ruled out and Mike Evans’ status for the game up in the air due to a hamstring of his own.

Egbuka, 23, was the No. 19 overall pick in the first round of April’s NFL draft and already looks like a steal, nabbing 27 catches (42 targets) for 469 yards and five touchdowns in his first six games. That’s a pace of 76 catches, 1,328 yards and 14 touchdowns across a 17-game season, elite production.

With both Godwin and Evans already missing significant time this season, the Bucs needed both Baker Mayfield and Egbuka to step out and both have obliged. The result has been a passing offense that ranks seventh in the NFL (244.2 YPG), and by proxy, a 5-1 start to the season.

At this point, Mayfield is a legitimate MVP candidate (1,539 yards, 12 touchdowns, one interception), while Egbuka is a strong candidate for Offensive Rookie of the Year if his hamstring injury isn’t a long-term concern.

“(The Buccaneers) are playing hot football; it’s a very good team,” Detroit head coach Dan Campbell told reporters on Tuesday. “Baker is—you guys know, I’ve got a lot of respect for Baker Mayfield. The way he plays, his leadership, his ability to push the ball down the field, make plays with his legs. I think he’s playing at a high level. He’s a guy that gives them a chance anytime they’re in a game. They play really good defense, they’ve got a good O-line. Those guys, man, they play hard, they’re physical, they’re tough. They have a run game, and they’ve got a good (special) teams unit. So this is a good team. This is a really good team.”

The Lions may be catching a rather shorthanded version of the Bucs, however, specifically at least at wide receiver.

New Jersey Devils goaltender Jacob Markstrom is expected to miss a couple of weeks because of a lower-body injury, coach Sheldon Keefe said Wednesday.

His second campaign with the Devils has seen him win two of his first three games only to have a 3.89 goals-against average and a .845 save percentage.

The Devils called up Nico Daws from their AHL affiliate on Wednesday with the expectation he’ll work in tandem with veteran Jake Allen, who left their 3-2 win Monday over the Columbus Blue Jackets because of cramping. Markstrom played for 20 minutes and stopped eight of the nine shots he faced.

Inserting Daws into their goalie lineup is nothing new for the Devils. He has split time between the NHL and AHL the past few years, appearing in 52 games since the 2021-22 season, including a 3-1 mark with a 1.60 GAA and a .939 save percentage over six games last season.

Markstrom’s injury also comes at a time in which the Devils are managing other injuries throughout their lineup. Forward Evgenii Dadonov, who signed a one-year deal in free agency, was moved to injured reserve after suffering a hand injury Thursday in their season opener.

The injury list also includes forward Stefan Noesen along with defensemen Seamus Casey and Johnathan Kovacevic.

Keefe told reporters that Noesen is getting closer to returning. Casey has resumed skating but will remain out of the lineup, while Kovacevic is skating but will still be out for months.

Depleted by injuries, the San Francisco 49ers could finally get some relief this week.

Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Niners head coach Kyle Shanahan said that star tight end George Kittle, who has been out since Week 1 with a hamstring injury, is expected to return to practice this week ahead of Sunday’s game against the Atlanta Falcons.

Kittle suffered a hamstring injury in the first half of the 49ers’ season opener against the Seattle Seahawks and later landed on the injured reserve, meaning he’d have to miss at least four games.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported earlier this month that Kittle had been “doing great” and faced “no setbacks,” but he wasn’t quite ready to return to the field after just four games.

While Shanahan didn’t give a definitive answer on whether Kittle will play this week, it’s a good sign that he’s at least expected to practice.

Kittle is coming off a second consecutive season with 1,000-plus yards, recording 1,106 yards and eight touchdowns last year despite missing two games due to a hamstring injury. He started the 2025 campaign off strong with 25 yards and a touchdown in the first half of Week 1, but the injury halted his momentum.

Kittle’s potential return couldn’t come at a better time for the Niners. San Francisco has had arguably the worst injury luck of any team this season, and things aren’t getting any better.

The 49ers were without Nick Bosa, Brandon Aiyuk, Brock Purdy, Ricky Pearsall and Kittle on Sunday against the Bucs, and they ended up losing star linebacker Fred Warner to a season-ending ankle injury during that game.

But San Francisco has managed to stay afloat so far, heading into Week 7 at 4-2. The Niners’ surprising success is largely due to the breakout season from backup quarterback Mac Jones, who has thrown for 1,252 yards and six touchdowns in four games.

If Jones has Kittle, one of the league’s best tight ends, this week, it would make his job significantly easier.

The Tennessee Titans announced Monday they fired Brian Callahan, but he reportedly won’t be the only head coach to meet such a fate.

NFL insider Josina Anderson cited a source Monday who said the expectation is five NFL teams will make head coaching changes. The Titans were included in that number, although Anderson also pointed out “one of said teams has a star player expressing frustration to ownership.”

There were no specific details given about which teams could be looking to make a move, yet she did note one could be unexpected.

Frankly, it would be more surprising if someone expected there not to be additional coaching changes in the NFL. That’s just the nature of the business, and plenty of teams move on from their coaches after disappointing seasons every single year.

The current one will surely be no different.

Seven teams fired their head coaches after the 2024 campaign, and the Titans are the first of what will surely be plenty more this year. Seven was actually a step down from the eight coaches who were fired after the 2023 season.

For now, fans can speculate about which moves are coming, and one look at the standings usually gives a fairly good clue as to which teams will be involved in the coaching carousel.

There has been no shortage of speculation about Mike McDaniel’s status as the head coach of the Miami Dolphins amid their 1-5 start. And additional rumors will continue to emerge as teams struggle down the stretch.

As for the Titans, it isn’t surprising they decided to make this move. Callahan was just 4-19 as the head coach, and any doubt about whether he was the one to maximize Cam Ward’s chances of success after the franchise selected the quarterback with the No. 1 pick of the 2025 draft was going to work against him.

Fortunately for Callahan, there will be plenty of job openings around the league again at the end of the 2025 season.

Because there almost always are.

Looks like The IInspiration arenâ€t going anywhere — at least not yet. Just hours before TNA Bound For Glory 2025, a new update suggests that Cassie Lee and Jess McKay are likely to stick around, even with their contracts set to expire after tonightâ€s show.

After a short but impactful return to TNA Wrestling that saw them win the Knockouts Tag Team Titles, fans were left wondering if this weekend would mark their exit. According to Fightful Select, thatâ€s probably not going to happen.

“As of this week The IInspirationâ€s deals were up after Bound For Glory. Those we spoke to expected them to retain and likely stay with the company.â€

While nothing has been officially signed, the internal belief is that both sides are on the same page. TNA sources have been vocal about wanting to keep Lee and McKay on board, and talks are said to be going well.

“According to those within TNA, the company is interested in keeping Lee and McKay around, and thereâ€s already internal talk that a new agreement is likely to be reached soon.â€

Itâ€s not just TNA talent watching closely — even wrestlers in WWEâ€s NXT are reacting to The IInspirationâ€s presence. Fightful added:

“Several womenâ€s talent at NXT we spoke to were happy to see them at the show.â€

The IInspirationâ€s star power and chemistry have made them a staple of TNAâ€s womenâ€s division since their return. Their current reign as tag champs has injected life into the Knockouts scene, and TNA isnâ€t ready to lose that momentum.

Whether they retain tonight or not, all signs point to a longer run for The IInspiration in TNA. If a new deal gets inked after Bound For Glory, fans can expect more from the duo that continues to deliver wherever they go.

A new report from Dave Meltzerhas provided a potential spoiler regarding a new match for this Saturday’s WWE Crown Jewel Premium Live Event in Perth, Australia. According to an internal lineup sheet for the show, the match between Roman Reigns and “Big” Bronson Reed is currently listed as the final match to be added to the card.

The report also noted that as of last week, the match was listed internally as having a “stipulation to be determined,” suggesting that a final angle to add a stipulation could take place on tonight’s episode of Monday Night Raw. The match between Reigns and Reed stems from Reed’s attacks on Reigns and his family, which led to Reigns returning to WWE programming to seek revenge. Here is the current Crown Jewel card:

BUFFALO, N.Y. – Buffalo Sabres coach Lindy Ruff anticipated opening the season next week without starting goalie Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen, who suffered a lower-body injury in his preseason debut.

Ruff listed Luukkonen as week to week without disclosing the nature of the injury on Friday. Ruff would only say the injury is separate from the lower-body issue that sidelined the 26-year-old for the start of training camp two weeks ago.

The latest injury occurred Wednesday, when Luukkonen was unable to return after the first period of a 5-3 loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Buffalo closes its preseason schedule at Pittsburgh on Friday and opens its season hosting the New York Rangers on Thursday.

Luukkonen’s absence will force the Sabres to turn to two offseason free agent additions in Alex Lyon, who was projected to be the backup, and Alexandar Georgiev. Buffalo signed Georgiev last month in a precautionary move after Luukkonen sustained his initial injury in the weeks leading up to camp.

The Sabres are also expected to be without defenseman Michael Kesselring, who was also listed week to week after aggravating an undisclosed injury on Wednesday.

Buffalo’s blue line is already banged up with Owen Power (undisclosed) and Mattias Samuelsson (upper body) missing practice this week. Ruff expects both to be available for the opener.
