This past August, at WWE NXT Heatwave, Je’Von Evans and Oba Femi attracted widespread attention on social media through a particular spot in their main event title match. Femi threw Evans out of the ring and into the commentary table, eventually going on to retain the WWE NXT Championship. Appearing on “No-Contest Wrestling,” Evans shared his reaction to the match, revealing how the idea for the toss evolved over time.

“At first, Oba was going to throw me – just do a regular pizza toss that was going to lead into the finish,” Evans said. “I remember going for my splash and he moved, and I’m facing the table, and I’m looking at the table. Obi picks me up and I’m like, ‘Hey. Through the table. Through the table. Through the table.'”

Evans felt inspired to go the extra mile after having another high-flying moment go viral during a “WWE NXT” match against Trick Williams just days earlier. The impromptu call turned out for the best, as Evans wasn’t seriously hurt during the landing, while the moment exploded in views online. Though Evans wasn’t injured in either spot, it’s safe to say that the high-risk offense takes a toll on the body. In particular, Evans recalled the “NXT” TV spot as the more painful of the two.

“It literally knocked the wind out of me,” Evans continued. “When I hit the floor, in my head, I was like, ‘Yeah, I’m probably about to retire soon.’ … I was so sore.”

While Evans was unsuccessful in capturing the NXT Championship from Femi, he bounced back rather quickly. The wrestler was most recently in action at WWE NXT Halloween Havoc, teaming up with tag partner Leon Slater against AAA stars La Parka and Mr. Iguana.

Je'Von Evans goes for the pin on LA Parka

WWE

Je’Von Evans and TNA X-Division Champion Leon Slater teamed together to pick up a win over AAA stars Mr. Iguana and LA Parka at “WWE NXT” Halloween Havoc.Â

Evans and Slater fought each other to a no-contest for the X-Division title at Bound for Glory before looking to team together after Slater’s subsequent title defense on “NXT,” with Iguana and Parka challenging them to a match on Saturday night. The tag bout opened the weekend’s event in Arizona, lasting almost 18 minutes and comprised of back-and-forth action between the teams.

As one might have expected, there was a lot of Iguana-centric offense from the aptly named luchador, tossing the plush pet towards his opponent either as a distraction or a mind game; Evans and Slater played into the idea that the soft toy was a sentient iguana and were horrified of it, playing hot potato with it before Iguana took them out at ringside.Â

He continued to use it as a weapon, with Slater threatening to punch it, getting told not to by Iguana, passing the toy back to him only to then get whipped with it. But Iguana was thrown into their closest chance of winning, Evans bundling him into Parka as he made the cover on Slater.Â

When all was said and done, Evans and Slater worked together to take out both their opponents – Evans flying over the ropes to level Parka on the outside, and Slater delivering the 450 Swanton Bomb to Iguana for the winning pinfall.Â

WWE

“The Young OG” Je’Von Evans is on a roll, and he picked up a victory over Josh Briggs to open “WWE NXT’s” No Mercy on Saturday after challenging Sami Zayn, albeit unsuccessfully, for the United States Championship on “WWE SmackDown” the night before.

Briggs took Evans outside of the ring almost immediately, but ended up being the one to bounce off the stairs. Evans hit a cutter early, but Briggs kicked out. Briggs took control of the match with a backbreaker to ground Evans and keep him from bouncing around. He sent Evans spine-first into the barricade on the outside.

Evans started to rally and took it to Briggs in the corner. “The Young OG” went up top, but Briggs thought he was safe when he slipped out of the ring. Evans flew to the outside and hit his opponent with a crossbody. Back inside the ring, Evans hit a frog splash, but Briggs kicked out. It was then Briggs’ turn to rally and he hit Evans with a clothesline to the back of the head, followed by two big boots and a knee to the jaw. He tried to take Evans up top, but Evans countered and landed on his feet, while Briggs landed face-first on the canvas.

Briggs tried to end the match with a pair of chokeslams, but Evans got his foot on the rope. After he riled up Briggs with his no-quit attitude, Evans hit a cutter out of nowhere, followed by his OG Cutter for the victory. Evans moves on to challenge TNA’s Leon Slater for the X-Division Championship at Bound for Glory.

SPOTLIGHTED PODCAST ALERT (YOUR ARTICLE BEGINS A FEW INCHES DOWN)…

This was a bizarre episode of Smackdown, full of unintended surprises, great wrestling, and a Crimson Mask! Smackdownâ€s inconsistency, though, shows again, and I wonder if each episode is written and structured by completely different teams. Compared to Raw, Smackdown feels formulaic and tired, with infrequent flashes of energy and excitement. Letâ€s get to it, friends! As always, Iâ€m Chris Adams, and you can reach me at cadamsowj@gmail.com if you think Iâ€ve Missed!

PAUL HEYMAN, CODY RHODES, AND THE BRONS: HIT

My initial reaction to this promo and the whole segment was one of admiration and praise. In particular, it was Cody Rhodes calling out Paul Heyman that made this segment a hit. Running down Heymanâ€s history of going into business for himself cast doubt in the minds of Bronson Reed and Bron Breakker, both of whom came out looking less than menacing. Randy Ortonâ€s run-in created an opportunity for him to eye the prize that is the WWE Championship. All in all, a fine yet fun way to open the show.

STREET PROFITS VS. MELO DONâ€T MIZ: HIT

This match was decent, not outstanding. Nothing was outright bad, but nothing really stood out as a truly memorable sequence. What will be remembered is the face of Carmelo Hayes†face as he watched the Miz take a pinfall. Like a cold-hearted killer, he watched his partner get pinned and suffer defeat without a hint of emotion. I was initially critical of the pairing of Hayes and the Miz, but the tension they’ve been playing with has been surprisingly rich. Unfortunately, Iâ€ve come around to liking their pairing just as it seems they’re about to split. If they split before the Street Profits, then their partnership simply wonâ€t get the recognition it deserves. Regarding the Profits, Iâ€m excited to see singles runs from both, but hope it happens without an actual breakup. Let Angelo Dawkins be the corner man for Montez Ford, and vice versa. Teammates donâ€t have to hate each other to move beyond the tag division. A little positivity, please!

GIULIA, JAMES, B-FAB, AND MICHIN: HIT

All four of these performers deserved more crowd reaction. At least there was more than crickets by the end of the match. Itâ€s Michin I feel the worst for, as I really enjoy her work, but I must admit that she has yet to establish a strong connection with the crowd. She has it all though: skill, attitude, and natural charisma. There is much to develop in B-Fab, yet she is promising in every aspect. She needs to prove her mettle quickly though, as she could fall to the bottom of the card faster than Hit Row imploded. Giulia and Kiana James seem like odd bedfellows, and if the purpose of pairing them was to give Giulia a mouthpiece, theyâ€re failing. Neither of them has commanded the mic. Props to Kiana James for her selling, though, appearing as if she was unconscious like a true rag doll. This match was a hit, but just barely.

DREW MCINTYRE PROMO: HIT

Seeing Drew McIntyre in an orthopedic boot was worth the price of admission alone. His dour face walking down the aisle gave way to a sullen, self-pitying promo, his specialty of late. He is great in this role, as his own worst enemy. A new feud was thrown into focus with the arrival of Jacob Fatu in the ring, which bodes well for Friday nights. Their chemistry, especially the aggressive back-and-forth exchange of the microphone, was comedy gold. Babyface Fatu FTW!

SAMI ZAYN AND JEâ€VON EVANS: HIT

The match of the night. Sami Zaynâ€s Open Challenge for the United States Championship has delivered some incredible matches, but this one reigns supreme. Jeâ€Von Evans shined in the spotlight, and Sami was as generous as anyone could be. He sold Evans†moves, allowed him literally fly, and showed him respect in the end. In fact, this match felt like it could have gone the other way, with Evans taking the title. When you can inject that kind of tension into the conflict, making it feel natural and organic, youâ€ve succeeded in making professional wrestling more than just pantomimed fighting. They made it real. Amazing!

NIA JAX, JADE CARGILL, AND TIFFANY STRATTON: MISS

What an unfortunate series of events! The match had a fairly good flow, although it often felt like a typical one-on-one with alternating opponents. It fell apart badly after Jade Cargill was busted open and joined the club of the Crimson Mask. Reviewing the footage, it seems both Stratton and Jax were waiting for Cargill to break open the pin. She didn’t, and we got a botched finish that made the referee seem responsible when it was a trainwreck all around with no one person to blame.

Nia Jaxâ€s attitude, including flipping off the referee, was good heel behavior but strange for SmackDown. She likely knows her bloodline keeps her safer than others. Overall, something good turned into something bad, but thatâ€s okay. All three wrestlers made sacrifices for us, and I appreciate it. I just canâ€t call it a hit.

Lacey Evans is once again flooding the internet with fraudulent DMCA takedown requests — and this time, sheâ€s dragging even more pro wrestling websites into her campaign.

The former WWE star, filing under her real name Macey Estrella, is actively trying to wipe out any trace of her WWE career, OnlyFans-related content, and public controversies she no longer wants online.

Ringside News has confirmed that Evans is continuing to misuse copyright law in a deliberate effort to remove legally protected content. Sheâ€s targeting images and articles that are not owned by her — many of which are from WWE programming or her own public social media posts, all of which fall under fair use protections for news reporting and commentary. The latest round of complaints includes takedowns aimed at multiple respected outlets:

Evans is also continuing her assault on previously targeted sites like:

One of the most interesting things about this new wave is the specific content sheâ€s trying to bury. Evans attempted to remove an article titled “Lacey Evans Boldly States She Doesnâ€t Miss WWE After Departure,†which simply covered her own public statements. She also went after pieces documenting her viral feud with Sgt. Slaughter — another incident that unfolded entirely in the public eye.

Evans has now filed over 13,000 takedown requests, many of which target content she does not legally own or control. She is reportedly working alongside an entity called The Venus Group, who appears to be helping coordinate the mass removal efforts across hundreds of websites.

This tactic mirrors a previous situation involving Mandy Rose, who earlier this year filed over 80 false DMCA complaints — with many directly targeting Ringside News — in an effort to scrub mentions of her FanTime career after her WWE release.

Itâ€s clear that Evans is following the same playbook, attempting to weaponize the DMCA system to suppress factual reporting and rewrite her online history. But Ringside News will not back down and is actively filing counterclaims against every false takedown submitted.

Trying to silence coverage she once benefited from isnâ€t just dishonest — itâ€s legally questionable. When public figures turn on the very media that helped build their brand, it raises serious concerns about transparency and abuse of the legal system.

Do you think Lacey Evans has gone too far in trying to erase her WWE and OnlyFans past? Should more outlets fight back against these false DMCA claims? Let us know in the comments below.

News and notes from Friday’s WWE SmackDown episode including a Randy Orton title match tease, a surprise US title challenger, and new number one contenders.

Randy Orton —

Orton made the save for Cody Rhodes as he was being menaced by The Vision’s Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed at the direction of Paul Heyman. Orton picked up the WWE title belt and stared at it, hinting at a future title challenge against his former protege in Rhodes.

Je’Von Evans —

On the same night he was named as the next challenger for TNA’s X-Division Championship for Bound for Glory, Je’Von Evans answered Sami Zayn’s United States Championship open challenge in a losing effort on Friday’s SmackDown.

The Street Profits —

Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins of The Street Profits defeated Carmelo Hayes and The Miz to earn the next shot at the WWE Tag Team Championship on Friday’s show. The Tag titles have been held by Dexter Lumis and Joe Gacy of The Wyatt Sicks since they defeated the Profits for them in July.

Booker T —

Booker T filled in for Corey Graves on commentary as it was announced that Graves will miss “weeks” of shows selling injuries sustained when Brock Lesnar attacked him on last week’s SmackDown.

Tiffany Stratton vs. Nia Jax vs. Jade Cargill —

The main event WWE Women’s title three-way between Stratton, Jax, and Cargill fell apart towards the end of the contest. Cargill was busted open while working with Jax.

Later in the bout, Jax didn’t kick out on a pinfall attempt but the referee held up the count as though Jax did kick out.

Stratton retained the title and will face Stephanie Vaquer for the Crown Jewel Women’s Championship at the PLE in Perth, Australia on October 11.

WWE

“WWE NXT” star Je’Von Evans gave an excellent performance in his second-ever “WWE SmackDown” match on Friday night, but it was Sami Zayn to successfully defend his United States Championship in his fourth defense since beginning his US title open challenge. Evans answered the challenge, as the blue brand was live from Orlando, Florida, near WWE’s Performance Center.

Evans had an impressive showing, flying around the ring in attempts to take Zayn off his feet and keep him there. He hit a huge springboard on Zayn and dropkicked him through the ropes, but before he could fly out of the ring to take Zayn out, the champion hit him with a clothesline.

The challenger avoided the Blue Thunder Bomb and got Zayn on the top turnbuckle, but Zayn chopped him and dropped “The Young OG” to the canvas. With Zayn still up top, Evans jumped back up to hit him with a hurricanrana. Zayn caught Evans and hit him with an Exploder into the turnbuckle, but Evans dodged the following Helluva Kick. He dodged a second kick and hit the OG Cutter for a near fall.

Zayn was able to connect with the Helluva Kick on his third attempt and followed it up with the Blue Thunder Bomb for the victory. After the match, Zayn showed “The Young OG” some respect.

Key Injury:RB Najee Harris

On Monday, Los Angeles Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh informed reporters that running back Najee Harris tore his Achilles, a season-ending injury.Â

Rookie first-rounder Omarion Hampton is in line for a massive workload out of the backfield. Backup running back Hassan Haskins may get more touches. He played under Harbaugh for four collegiate terms at Michigan. That said, the fourth-year veteran has 59 career carries and is averaging just 3.1 yards per rush attempt.

With a 3-0 start, the Chargers should be aggressive in filling roster voids to maintain their momentum. Though Harris had a rotational role after he suffered an eye injury in an offseason fireworks incident, Los Angeles can add a veteran ball-carrier who can take some pressure off Hampton in his first year.Â

Remember, the Chargers signed Harris to a one-year deal. So, they could gauge the trade market for a long-term backup running back.

Miami Dolphins rookie sixth-rounder Ollie Gordon II has looked impressive as a complement to De’Von Achane. During the preseason, he generated buzz and took advantage of his time on the field while Jaylen Wright, a 2024 fourth-rounder, missed time with a knee injury.

Through the first three weeks of the season, Gordon has logged 12 carries for 50 yards and a touchdown. Entering Week 3, Wright didn’t have an injury designation, but he didn’t play a snap against the Buffalo Bills. With Gordon’s emergence, he may need a change of scenery to see significant playing time.

The Chargers should offer the Dolphins a late-round 2026 draft pick for Wright.
