Former No. 3-ranked Elina Svitolina said she will end her tennis season early because she is “not in the right emotional space.”
“I haven’t been feeling like myself lately,” Svitolina said in a social media post on Instagram which was followed by a statement on the WTA Tour’s website. “I don’t feel ready to play, so I am therefore ending my season here.”
Svitolina, now ranked 13th, said she needed time to rest and recharge.
“When I step back on the court,” she said, “I want to fight with everything I’ve got and put my best self on the court for the fans, for the game and for myself.”

This was a huge way to close out NXT.
The September 23 episode of WWE NXT brought a lot to the CW. The main event was a historic confrontation, where Trick Williams and Oba Femi battled title for title.
Oba Femi walked into the NXT Arena as NXT Champion, but he put everything on the line against Trick Williams, who was also putting his TNA World Title up in this match. This match also received a big fight feel thanks to Mike Romeâ€s ring introductions.
During this match, several TNA wrestlers were spotted around the ring. Then Mike Santana jumped the barricade and put a headset on. He explained on commentary that the TNA roster showed up because NXT felt the need to book this match without giving the company any notice.
Matt Cardona, Cassie Lee, Zachary Wentz, Frankie Kazarian, Steve Maclin, and more were in the crowd as Trick Williams and Oba Femi went at each other in stiff fashion. This was a hard-hitting match with several near falls. Fans in the NXT Arena also appreciated everything they were seeing, and they loved being surrounded by TNA stars in the crowd with them.
After the two rocked each other with one power move after another, and they each kicked out of each otherâ€s finishers, Trick got in Santanaâ€s face on the outside of the ring. Then Santana hit Trick Williams and the referee called for the bell.
After that, the NXT locker room flooded the ring as the TNA Wrestling stars invaded the ring. This was a crazy ending to the night, but through it all, Ricky Saints walked down to put his hands on the NXT Title, one that he will battle Oba Femi for at No Mercy.
The TNA locker room was paying attention to this match in a big way, and itâ€s easy to see why. Only time will tell what is next, but this match was certainly interesting.

Trick Williams and Oba Femi’s Title-for-Title match for the TNA World and NXT Championships ended in a no contest in the main event of “WWE NXT.”
In the latest chapter of the ongoing saga between Williams and Femi, stemming back to the “Ruler’s” initial dethroning of Williams as the NXT Champion, the pair were looking to settle their issue once and for all with each of their respective titles on the line.Â
However, Williams had been drawing negative attention from his contemporaries on the TNA throughout his reign with their World title, and there had appeared to be a social media campaign among them to suggest they were done with the disrespect – naturally lending to the belief an invasion was on the way.Â
That reared its head during the main event, with Williams and Femi duking it out while the camera panned the audience to reveal a number of male and female TNA stars in attendance; Mike Santana had also joined commentary for the bout, and proved to be the catalyst for everything to kick off when he got in the face of Williams.Â
Williams pushed Santana, prompting the TNA star to strike him and call the match to an abrupt halt, while those in the crowd spilled into the ringside area to be met by “NXT” talent running down the ramp, the respective rosters brawling as the show went off air.
Meanwhile, Femi’s challenger for the NXT title at No Mercy this weekend, Ricky Saints, had emerged to eye up the belt perched on its plinth. As he went to grab it, Femi arose from the ground and pulled back at it, providing the closing shot of the last show before they meet in the ring on Saturday.Â
TNA and NXT still have two different champions.
Tuesdayâ€s show saw Trick Williams exchange words with TNAâ€s Mike Santana, who was on commentary during the title-for-title match between TNA Champion Williams and NXT Champion Oba Femi. Williams slapped Santana, leading him to strike back as the referee called for the bell. TNA talent who were seen sitting in the crowd got up and entered the ring as they began fighting with the NXT roster, causing the show to end in a wild interpromotional brawl.
Throughout Tuesdayâ€s show, various TNA stars were seen roaming around the backstage area, including Matt Cardona, Moose, Eric Young, Xia Brookside, Lei Ying Lee, Victoria Crawford, Steve Maclin, Steph De Lander, Mance Warner, Cedric Alexander, and Zachary Wentz. The IInspiration and Frankie Kazarian were also seen in the crowd during the title match as the rest of the TNA roster entered to watch.
After the show went off the air, Shawn Michaels posted a video of himself reacting to the angle taking place.
“This doesnâ€t end here @ThisIsTNA. #WeAreNXT,” he wrote.
On last weekâ€s NXT, much of the TNA roster posted messages on social media becoming frustrated about the relationship between NXT and TNA. Those messages continued when it was announced on the Grayson Waller Effect that a title for title match between Femi and Williams would take place next week.

Tuesday’s title vs. title match between NXT champion Oba Femi and TNA world champion Trick Williams ended in a no contest before chaos erupted in a massive brawl.
All hell broke loose when Williams sauntered to Mike Santana, who was sitting at the announce table, and slapped him on the side of his head. Santana didn’t take kindly to that whatsoever and immediately attacked Williams.
The bell then rang, signifying the end of the match. However, that didn’t symbolize the end of the action. TNA and NXT wrestlers then rushed to the ring and fought each other.
In the midst of the violence, there was a moment of serene peace. Ricky Saints calmly walked over to the WWE NXT Championship belt and picked it up, fiercely determined to win it on Saturday at No Mercy. Femi then caught Saints’ act, grabbed the title and stared his foe down with the belt held high as the show faded to black.
On last week’s Homecoming episode of NXT at Full Sail University, a special edition of the Grayson Waller Effect took place with Femi and Ricky Saints as the guests ahead of their scheduled NXT title match at No Mercy.
During the segment, Williams interrupted and made it clear that he wanted to win back the NXT Championship that he held twice before.
Amid the conversation between Femi and Williams, Waller took several shots at TNA, which prompted a number of TNA stars to make disgruntled posts on social media about NXT’s treatment of TNA.
After Trick and Oba exchanged words, they agreed to have a winner-take-all match this week on NXT with both the NXT Championship and TNA World Championship on the line.
Since the start of 2025, Femi and Williams have locked horns on numerous occasions, and the NXT title has been at the heart of their rivalry.
Oba won a Triple Threat match against Trick and Eddy Thorpe at New Year’s Evil back in January to win the NXT Championship for the first time, and Femi later successfully defended it in a Triple Threat against Williams and Je’Von Evans at Stand & Deliver in April.
When they met on Tuesday, the stakes were higher than ever before since titles from two different companies were on the line, placing the future of both NXT and TNA in the palm of their hands.
Because of the importance of the match and the unhappiness TNA wrestlers expressed last week, there was seemingly a good chance that they would get involved in some form or fashion.
That is exactly what happened (albeit after Williams instigated the entire affair), resulting in no clear winner, and paving the way for Femi vs. Saints for the NXT Championship to happen Saturday at No Mercy as originally scheduled.
Passing the baton – quite literally – to the next generation, with one final medal secured, an icon bowed out.
Back in Japan, the nation where she made her first appearance on the world stage 18 years ago, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce made the 25th – and last – global podium of her illustrious career.
Nine world championships and five Olympic Games later, the 38-year-old signed off in Tokyo by helping a Jamaican quartet featuring 21-year-old twin sisters Tia and Tina Clayton to world 4x100m silver.
As she posed for photos with her adoring fans in the stands, there was no doubt the record five-time world 100m champion had departed the sport as a legend.
The most decorated female 100m sprinter in history, Fraser-Pryce has missed just one of the sport’s past 15 major global competitions.
That single absence came at the World Championships in London in 2017, when, one day after the 100m final, she gave birth to her son Zyon.
“I have had an amazing career and today’s medal is the icing on the cake,” said Fraser-Pryce, the third-fastest woman in history with a personal best of 10.60 seconds.
“My son will be excited. Today is a full circle moment for me, I was a reserve at my first world championships in Japan in 2007. I couldn’t have it any other way.
“I am grateful for the medals, the stadiums and the crowds where I have competed throughout my career.
“I have some plans and I want to focus on advocacy, and support women and athletes. I want to continue to make an impact.”
