Mercedes Mone hits Mina Shirakawa with a meteora in the middle of the ring during their match at WrestleDream.

AEW/Lee South

“Ultimo Mone” Mercedes Mone captured her historic 12th title just one day after breaking Ultimo Dragon’s record for most belts held simultaneously with her victory at WrestleDream. Mone captured Winnipeg Pro Wrestling’s WPW Women’s Championship Sunday night with a victory over Jody Threat at the promotion’s Rumble in the Burt 3 event.

According to POST Wrestling, Mone’s appearance on Sunday marked the biggest turnout for WPW at the Burton Cummings Theatre in Winnipeg. Over 1,600 people were in attendance to see Mone defeat Threat, with a little help from Ava Lawless, who attacked the TNA star at ringside, allowing Mone to hit the Mone Maker for the victory.

The win came just hours after her WrestleDream victory over Mina Shirakawa for the interim ROH Women’s Television Championship. “The CEO” was not initially on the card for the pay-per-view, but issued an open challenge following her successful defense of the CMLL World Women’s Championship over Persephone at Arena Mexico on Friday. Mone announced she’d be putting her TBS Championship on the line at WrestleDream, and the day of the event, AEW President Tony Khan announced that the challenger would also put their title on the line, setting up Mone’s historic victory as she became “11 Belts Mone.”

The nickname only lasted the day with her WPW victory, and now, Mone will go by “12 Belts Mone,” just days after she broke Jade Cargill’s record to become the longest reigning TBS Champion in AEW history. Following her win at WrestleDream, and after she interrupted the champion’s celebration before her own match, Mone called out AEW Women’s World Champion Kris Statlander for a match at Full Gear.

Think one hole-in-one is impressive? Try two holes-in-one, on the same day, on the same hole.

That’s exactly what Sewanee sophomore Niel Phillips did Monday at the Chick-Fil-A Invitational in Rome, Georgia.

With the tournament’s 36-hole day requiring back-to-back shotgun starts, Phillips, a New Orleans native competing on the Tigers’ B-team, began his first round on Stonebridge Country Club’s par-3 eighth hole and holed a 6-iron from 182 yards for an ace, according to his head coach, Keenan Hickton.

Phillips followed by playing his next four holes in a combined 5 over, but birdies on Nos. 15-17 and a slew of pars allowed him to polish off an even-par 72.

Then Phillips headed back to No. 8 to start his second round. With the hole locations remaining the same, Phillips took one less club, a 7-iron, and again jarred his tee shot.

“Watched them both,†Hickton texted Golf Channel. “… Both were perfect shots all the way.â€

It’s believed to be the first time that any college player, at any level, has aced the same hole in back-to-back rounds on the same day.

This is Phillips’ third start of the fall. He finished 82nd out of 96 players at Sewanee’s fall opener, the Gate City Invitational (Phillips recorded two eagles during that event), and he most recently placed last in the 87-man Tartan Invitational, withdrawing during his second round. He is ranked No. 831 by Scoreboard while Sewanee is fifth nationally as a team.

WWE and TNA have moved forward with their working relationship in a major way this year. The recent historic showdown between The Hardy Boyz and The Dudley Boyz saw the legends take more than a few brutal bumps, and one veteran has just revealed how he suffered an injury.

D-Von Dudley and Bubba Ray Dudley officially retired after losing to Matt Hardy and Jeff Hardy at TNA’s 21st Bound For Glory PPV, held on October 12 at the Tsongas Center in Lowell, MA. The co-main event of the evening ended just under 16 minutes, and saw Matt and Jeff retain the TNA World Tag Team Championship and the WWE NXT Tag Team Championship in a Tables Match to make Team 3D’s retirement official.

Brother Devon recently appeared on the Duke Loves Rasslin podcast and revealed that he suffered a shoulder injury during the match at Bound For Glory, which was billed as One Final Table as it took place 25 years after Matt and Jeff defeated D-Von and Bubba Ray in the first-ever Tag Team Tables Match at the 2000 WWE Royal Rumble.

WWE Legend D-Von Dudley Injured In Trying To Protect Opponent At TNA Bound For Glory

Jeff Hardy previously revealed how he suffered a cut on the back of his head while protecting D-Von Dudley on a ladder bump at TNA Bound For Glory. Regarding D-Von’s shoulder injury, he recalled how the unfortunate incident occurred when he and the wrestler also known as Bully Ray delivered a 3D in the first minute of the brutal match, while trying to protect Matt Hardy.

D-Von noted that he was hurting so bad he couldn’t move his arm the next day.

“I actually jarred my shoulder coming down on the 3D in the first 30 seconds of the match. I jarred my shoulder trying to protect Matt instead of just falling flat on my back. I went to my side and came down on my elbow, which shot up into my shoulder so badly that the next day I couldnâ€t move my arm,” D-Von Dudley said.

The Dudleyz retired as one of the most-decorated tag teams in wrestling history, with 10 championship reigns in WWE, 3 in TNA, 2 in NJPW, and 8 in ECW, among other title wins in smaller promotions. The 2014 TNA Hall of Famers, who are the inaugural World Tag Team Champions, were inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2018.

The Jacksonville Jaguars struggled to get anything going in Sunday’s 35-7 loss to the Los Angeles Rams in London, but star rookie Travis Hunter finally reached the end zone in a standout performance.

Hunter finished with team highs of eight catches for 101 yards and his first career touchdown on 14 targets in the loss. It was also his first career 100-yard game. He snagged a 34-yard pass from Jags quarterback Trevor Lawrence and took it past the goal line in the fourth quarter to avoid the shutout after the Rams took a 28-0 lead.

Jacksonville’s offense had a hard time moving the ball throughout the game after Los Angeles went ahead early and was able to play more aggressively on defense. Still, Hunter did his best to make the most out of his touches.

Hunter didn’t see any defensive snaps until the second half, and he didn’t record any tackles. He managed to make a nice pass breakup while defending Rams star receiver Davante Adams in a one-on-one matchup on a deep pass.

Hunter’s lack of action on defense was somewhat surprising, as he had been used more on that side of the ball in recent games.

The Jags will be on a bye in Week 8 before returning to action on Nov. 2 against the Las Vegas Raiders. Hunter will surely be looking to build off of Sunday’s impressive performance, so the team will have to use the time off wisely.

Lionel Messi posted a Decision Day hat trick against Nashville SC to win the 2025 Golden Boot and help Inter Miami secure home-field advantage for the postseason.

Messi scored 29 goals in his second MLS season to become the first Inter Miami player to win the award.

Inter Miami is now set to rematch with Nashville in the first round of the 2025 MLB playoffs. Here’s a look at the full bracket after Saturday’s final matches.

4. Minnesota United vs. 5. Seattle Sounders

2. Vancouver Whitecaps vs. 7. FC Dallas

The first round will feature a “Hell is Real” rematch between FC Cincinnati and the Columbus Crew.

The rivalry, named after the infamous billboard on the interstate roadside between the two cities, last peaked in 2023 when Columbus claimed a 3-2 comeback win in the MLS Playoffs Eastern Conference Final en route to winning the title.

Cincinnati secured the Eastern Conference’s No. 2 seed with a Decision Day shutout of CF Montreal, while Columbus climbed out of the Wild Card round and into the No. 7 spot in part thanks to a Saturday win over the New York Red Bulls.

Charlotte FC meanwhile sealed home-field advantage for a first-round matchup with New York City FC thanks to a Decision Day win over the Philadelphia Union.

The Philadelphia Union will now wait for next Wednesday’s Wild Card game, when the Orlando City SC and Chicago Fire play for the final playoff spot in the East.

San Diego FC meanwhile locked up the top seed in the West thanks to a Decision Day shutout of the Portland Timbers, combined with the Vancouver Whitecaps’ loss to FC Dallas.

Either the Portland Timbers or Real Salt Lake will face San Diego FC in the first round, depending on Wednesday’s Wild Card results.

Vancouver fell to the No. 2 seed and a first-round rematch with Dallas. Minnesota will face Seattle while LAFC takes on Austin to round out the Western Conference.

Round 1 begins Friday and runs through Sunday, Nov. 9. The conference semifinals are set to take place on Saturday, Nov. 22 and Sunday, Nov. 23, followed by the conference finals the following weekend on Saturday, Nov. 29 and Sunday, Nov. 30.

NEW DELHI — Rory McIlroy has expressed a desire to be the European Ryder Cup captain one day — but not until “the mid-2030s.”

McIlroy is playing his first tournament in India this week as he returns to competitive action after helping Europe retain the Ryder Cup by beating the United States in New York last month.

The 36-year-old Northern Irishman has played in the last eight Ryder Cups and, as the world No. 2 and current Masters champion, figures he’ll be in the team for a few more — not least in Ireland in 2027.

But he said Wednesday that sometime in the future he wants to lead the team as the captain rather than as its star player.

“Absolutely, I would love to be a captain one day, and I feel very fortunate that I’ve had a front-row seat playing under some of the best captains in history in the Ryder Cup,” McIlroy said, name-checking Paul McGinley — the winning 2014 skipper — and Luke Donald, who led Europe in the last two matches.

“But,” he added, “I’d say not until the mid-2030s, hopefully, if I can keep playing well.”

McIlroy was on the end of a barrage of abuse from American spectators at Bethpage Black and occasionally gave it back to them in a febrile atmosphere that ended up being the subplot of the week.

He thinks that’s a shame, especially since Europe went on to become the first team to win an away Ryder Cup since 2012.

“Just over the last two weeks, being able to watch the highlights and just see, especially those first two days, in the foursomes and the four-balls how good [the] European team were,” McIlroy said. “The Americans would hit it close; we hit it closer. The Americans hole a putt, and we hole a putt on top, [and] it happened every single time.

“The unfortunate thing is people aren’t remembering that and they are remembering the week for the wrong reason. I would like to shift the narrative and focus on how good the European team were and how proud I was to be part of that team to win an away Ryder Cup.”

McIlroy also said he has been keen to play in India for some time as he seeks to make his schedule “more international.” In November, he’ll play in Abu Dhabi and at the European tour’s season-closing tournament in Dubai, and then at the Australian Open in December.

“I think over the last few years, I’ve enjoyed it even more — I’ve enjoyed the travel,” he said. “I’ve enjoyed getting to play in front of people that I’ve never played in front of before.”

As a self-confessed cricket “sicko,” McIlroy said he was disappointed he wouldn’t be able to squeeze in attending a match in India’s favorite sport during his trip.

“I’d love to come back and do that,” he said.

IYO SKY has become one of the most popular women in WWE today, all while conversing in a language that isn’t her native tongue. Appearing on Chris Van Vliet’s Insight podcast, SKY shared that even after years of working in WWE, conversing in English is still a struggle.

“Every single day I struggle to speak English… Promos make me so nervous, even only [a] short line, makes me so nervous. Even backstage promos, everything.”

SKY studied English at school in her native Japan, but those lessons only covered writing and grammar, not speaking. Upon joining WWE, SKY enrolled in an English Language course, though that did little to help.

“I went to English school once I get contract with WWE. But [the school was] only 30 minutes in a week or one hour a week or twice a week or something like that. So it didn’t so much help, better than nothing.”

SKY continues to develop her skills speaking English with every appearance for WWE. For the ‘Genius of the Sky,’ her desire is to properly convey WWE’s storylines to even its youngest audience members.

“We are on TV. Behind the screen, behind the camera, has a lot of children [watching.] So that’s why I’m always careful [to] speak proper English.”

SKY’s dedication to improving has been rewarded as the former Women’s & Women’s World Champion is one of WWE’s top women today. Her story shows the importance of perserverance and how SKY continues to strive to be her very best as a WWE Superstar.

When was the last time a Test in India went into Day 5?It was only the fourth time since 1961 that India had to bat again in a Test after enforcing the follow-on (AP Photo) NEW DELHI: India were left with just 58 runs to seal a 2-0 series sweep as they reached 63-1 on Day 4 of the second Test against West Indies. KL Rahul was unbeaten on 25, while Sai Sudharsan held firm on 30 from 47 balls, hitting five boundaries. Yashasvi Jaiswal, who had scored a brilliant 175 in the first innings, was dismissed for eight as India chased 121 for victory. Although there was an option to extend play by 30 minutes, it wasnâ€t needed.West Indies made India toil in their second innings, with Shai Hope scoring his first Test century in eight years to help the visitors reach 390 in 118.5 overs. John Campbell also notched his maiden Test hundred, and a 79-run stand for the last wicket ensured India had to bat on Day 5.West Indies had scored 248 in their first innings in reply to Indiaâ€s massive 518-5 declared, giving away a 270-run lead. In the morning session, Campbell, whose previous best was 68 against New Zealand in 2020, batted brilliantly alongside Hope. The pair added 177 runs, reducing Indiaâ€s lead to just 18 at lunch. Campbell fell lbw to Ravindra Jadeja before the break, and Mohammed Siraj then removed Hope for 103, sparking a collapse. Kuldeep Yadav ran through the lower order, dismissing Tevin Imlach, Roston Chase, and Khary Pierre in quick succession to finish with eight wickets.West Indies reached 361-9 at tea after a 30-minute extension, with Justin Greaves (50) and Jaydon Seales (32) frustrating the tiring Indian bowlers before Jasprit Bumrah (3-44) wrapped up the innings. It was only the fourth time since 1961 that India had to bat again in a Test after enforcing the follow-on.

When was the last time a Test in India went into Day 5?

Such extended contests are rare in India, a country where home conditions usually favour the hosts. The last Test in India to go the full five days was the opening match of the three-Test series against New Zealand in Bengaluru in 2024. Rain had washed out Day 1, and India were bowled out for just 46. New Zealand responded with 402, thanks to Rachin Ravindraâ€s brilliant 134 off 157 balls, and went on to win by eight wickets. Ravindra was named Player of the Match for his exceptional performance.

Celtic’s European Cup win in 1967 remains one of the most iconic nights in the club’s storied history, almost 60 years on.

The Scottish side’s 2-1 victory over Inter Milan at the Estadio Nacional in Lisbon saw them become the first British club to win the European Cup and it was all done with a homegrown squad, the majoirty of whom were born within a ten-mile radius of Celtic Park.

Jim Craig was playing at right-back that evening, as he added European football’s biggest prize to his list of 14 domestic trophies won during his eight-year spell with the club.

“We had our moments but he respected me as a player,” Craig recalls to FourFourTwo when asked about manager Jock Stein’s influence during the run. “I only wanted to know one question before a game: how fast was the opposition winger? If they were quicker than me I’d pull Bobby Murdoch closer. If I was quicker then I could catch him, but Jock would never tell me.

“He had more run-ins with Jimmy Johnstone. Jock was once giving a team talk and, when he finished, he asked if there were any questions. Jimmy’s hand shot up, which was a surprise because Jinky had sat through the whole talk looking at his nails. Jimmy said, ‘How long’s the flight?’ He was terrified of flying and that was all he was interested in, not the team talk or any of the tactical stuff.”

When the final came around, Craig got off to an unfortunate start, giving away an early penalty that meant his side went into the dressing room a goal down at half-time.

“It happened in the seventh minute. Jock was great, he said, ‘Forget about it, just take care of the guy in the second half’. I had a chance to look at it afterwards and told him I thought it was an indirect free-kick [to Celtic, for simulation] and he agreed.

“The player, Renato Cappellini, was running across my path, and I didn’t want to foul him. I held my body maybe a little bit too close to him without doing anything else. However, after that I set up Gemmell’s goal for the equaliser, so I reckon I more than made up for it!”

Less than a fortnight after winning the European Cup, Craig would then play in the Alfredo Di Stefano testimonial, winning 1-0 against Real Madrid. What does he remember about that night?

“Jinky decided that he was going to show them what he could do,” Craig says. “He had a wonderful game and his touch was tremendous. Every time he took on an opponent, he beat them. Eventually, the crowd were cheering his name instead of Di Stefano’s. Any time Jinky touched the ball they would shout, ‘Ole!’ I felt sorry for the left-back – he got battered that night.

“Following the game, I made a beeline for Paco Gento and shook his hand. There were 120,000 fans present for a friendly. Real were playing a team that had just won the European Cup, so they were up for it. We were defending our image, so we were equally up for it.”

Celtic would reach another European Cup final in 1970, only to lose 2-1 to Feyenoord, but Craig insists that was another special team. “The team never knew it was beaten. We’d just won five league titles in a row back home, so it was a glorious era for us all. We were on top of the world and could take on anybody on our day.”

Sadly, only Craig, Willie Wallace and Bobby Lennox from that famous side are still with us, but Craig is keen to keep his team-mates’ legacy alive and credits former Hoops boss Martin O’Neill for reigniting interest in the Lisbon Lions when he arrived at the club in 2000.

“He was very good at that and very kind at bringing us back into the fold again,” Craig adds. “We are ambassadors for the club still. I spend my time going to functions as people want to know about Lisbon and I have the stories for them. It’s nice to be known after all these years.”
