On the Thanksgiving Eve edition of “AEW Dynamite,” Darby Allin suffered a loss to Kevin Knight in the 2025 Continental Classic’s Gold League. Along the way, he’d also sustained multiple injuries, which AEW commentator Tony Schiavone says have now rendered him unable to continue competing in the round-robin tournament.
Schiavone’s announcement came on Saturday’s episode of “AEW Collision,” in which he also revealed that former AEW TNT and Tag Team Champion Jack Perry had officially replaced Allin in the Continental Classic. Despite the development, Allin still wished Perry the best of luck in his place.
“I was wrestling Kevin Knight for the first time in my career, I was scared,” Allin said in a backstage promo. “I felt my legs give out. I was rushed to the hospital, and I guess the doctor was taking me out of this Classic, which is fine. If you want to save Darby from Darby, that’s fine. I don’t give a s***. I hear Jack Perry’s taking my spot? I’ve never seen eye to eye with Jack Perry, but if you’re taking my spot, man, go on, win the whole thing. I hope you do. As for Darby. I don’t know.”
As of now, there is no word on the timeline for Allin’s in-ring return following his series of injuries. In the meantime, Perry inherits zero points in the Gold League, with matches against “Speedball” Mike Bailey, “The ProtoStar” Kyle Fletcher, Kazuchika Okada, and PAC still to come for him. Fletcher currently leads the standings for the C2’s Gold League with six points.Â
Darby Allin is officially out of AEWâ€s Continental Classic Tournament, with a replacement being named tonight.
During tonightâ€s AEW Collision, a video featuring Allin was shown. Allin explained that he would be forced to miss the rest of the tournament. He explained how his recent hospitalization was the reason why, noting that AEW doctors have removed him from the tournament.
As a result, Allin revealed that Jack Perry would be taking his spot in the Continental Classic. As for whatâ€s next from Darby, Allin had no answers and was clearly frustrated at the turn of events.
During a match against Kevin Knight in the Continental Classic Gold League two weeks ago, Allin suffered a head injury. The injury required a legitimate hospitalization on Allinâ€s behalf, and likely came from a blow to the head he received at some point. While itâ€s unclear what the extent of Allinâ€s injury is, heâ€ll be out of action for the foreseeable future.

Darby Allin was legitimately hospitalized following his November 26 match against Kevin Knight on AEW Dynamite, and his status in the Continental Classic tournament is now up in the air.
The former TNT Champion—famous for putting his body on the line—suffered real injuries during the bout, and itâ€s not part of any storyline. On the December 3 edition of Dynamite, Excalibur announced that Allin was not cleared to compete and that further updates would be shared on Collision.
Bryan Alvarez of Wrestling Observer Radio confirmed the injury was legitimate and clarified rumors about the extent of Allinâ€s hospital stay.
“Somebody tweeted that he had been in the hospital for a week and he was still there. Thatâ€s not quite true. What happened was he got hurt in the Kevin Knight match last week,†Alvarez said. “The spot that looked the scariest was the coast-to-coast dropkick. He got smashed with that move. I donâ€t know if thatâ€s the move where he got hurt, but he got hurt.â€
As for where things stand now, Allin has been discharged and is back home, but his future in the tournament is unclear.
“He was in the hospital for a while, but they did clear him because he ended up going home. So he can travel. Heâ€s out of the hospital,†Alvarez added. “The impression I was given was theyâ€re going to find out more on Collision. He might stay in the tournament, and he might not. They have to, I guess, figure it out in the next few days, depending on how heâ€s doing.â€
Allin is part of the Gold League in AEWâ€s Continental Classic—a loaded block featuring Kazuchika Okada, Kyle Fletcher, “Speedball†Mike Bailey, PAC, and Kevin Knight. As of the December 3 Dynamite, Fletcher leads with 6 points, Okada has 3, and Allin sits at 0 after his loss to Knight.
If Allin is pulled from the tournament, AEW may be forced to award forfeits to his remaining opponents, which would drastically shake up the Gold League standings. Fans will likely get a final answer during Collision in Columbus, Ohio.
Do you think Darby Allin should continue in the tournament, or should AEW prioritize his recovery and pull him now? Drop your thoughts in the comments.
An unfortunate update has emerged on Darby Allin’s physical status.
Last week, during the Continental Classic match on Dynamite, fans witnessed Darby Allin and Kevin Knight clash against each other. Following one of the best matches of the year and Knight’s victory, Allin was taken to a hospital.
According to Excalibur on tonight’s December 3rd edition of AEW Dynamite, Allin required hospitalized after last week’s match. Shortly, a video was also shown on screen which showed Allin recovering in a hospital bed. It was further noted that the former TNT Champion is currently not cleared to travel or compete, and an additional update is expected later this week on AEW Collision.
Allin is a part of the Gold League in the 2025 Continental Classic tournament. With news of his hospitalization, uncertainty now surrounds his status in the competition.
AEW President Tony Khan is all praise for Darby Allin
A couple of months ago, during an interview with Busted Open Radio, Tony Khan heaped praise on Darby Allin. Calling Allin a ‘changed person’ after his Mount Everest conquest, Khan claimed,
“He went from being a ten to an 11 when it came to selflessness and his attitude. He already had the best attitude that I know, but he came back another level of a great person. He is so selfless and came back so centered and so focused, I was blown away.”

PAC wanted a legitimate wrestling match against Darby Allin at AEW Full Gear 2025 with no weapons or shenanigans. However, it’s never that simple with the Death Riders, and after a match that was as legitimate as promised, PAC used some underhanded tactics to pick up a major victory.
Despite being heavily bandaged up due to the second degree burns he suffered at the hands of PAC, Darby got the better of the early exchanges, landing a series of arm drags and a Shotgun Dropkick to create distance. PAC tried to keep up with Darby, but he was one step behind as Darby had an answer for everything PAC threw at him. However, once the match went to the apron, that’s where things changed as PAC hit a huge Press Slam off the apron, with Darby landing directly on the floor.
Darby did manage to get back in the ring, but PAC took a firm control of the match by ripping off Darby’s bandages and abusing the burns on his arms and back. He would then Slingshot Darby’s throat into the bottom rope, before hitting a big Irish Whip that saw Darby fly through the ropes and hit the ring post. Darby would get back into things by trapping PAC in the ring skirt and hitting a Tope Suicida, before hitting another Shotgun Dropkick, this time from the top rope to the outside while PAC was sat on a steel chair.Â
Back in the ring once again and Darby tried to lock in a Guillotine on PAC, but the Englishman got out of it and hit a German and Belly-To-Belly Suplex, the latter of which seeing Darby hit the turnbuckles. Darby rallied back and hit a Lariat for a double down, but it was PAC who took the lead by countering a Coffin Splash into another German Suplex and then a vicious Lariat. PAC would then lock Darby in the Brutalizer, but Darby just about made it to the bottom rope. PAC would then go to the top rope for the Black Arrow, but Darby rolled out of the way and locked in the Scorpion Death Lock. Just as it looked like PAC was going to tap, Wheeler Yuta ran down to distract the referee, but that was so PAC could use a baseball bat to knock Darby out, and PAC picked up the victory.

Darby Allin is one of the most death-defying wrestlers of all time and has made a career out of taking so much punishment that even a hardcore legend like Mick Foley would probably say no to some of the things Darby has done. In his six years with AEW, he has been thrown down flights of stairs, hung upside down just a few weeks after breaking his nose, and in the recent Blood and Guts match on November 12, he was thrown off the top of the entrance tunnel through a pair of flaming tables.
Fortunately for Darby, he works for a man who trusts him with his daredevil antics, but even Tony Khan has had his doubts about whether Darby is going to come out of a spot in one piece, and during a recent appearance on “The Ariel Helwani Show,” he revealed the one spot where he felt Darby went too far.Â
“I think he’s really a brilliant wrestler, and also he takes these chances, and I think normally they’re very calculated chances. The one that I thought was too far, and I would say this to him and have said this to him 100 times…in Sting’s last match with the glass in Greensboro [at AEW Revolution 2024], off the ladder through the glass.”
On that night, Darby jumped off a ladder situated in the ring and dove to the outside through a pane of glass that was bridged across some steel chairs. He attempted to hit The Young Bucks but missed and suffered several lacerations on his back in the process.Â
“That was the one where I thought maybe it was too much, and it wasn’t exactly the way it was described,” Khan said. “It was pretty brutal, and that was the one where I said ‘I think you’re so brilliant about these chances, but this is the first time ever where I thought probably it was too much.”
Khan rounded off by saying that the silver lining to the dangerous spot was not only did it go well, but Revolution 2024 ended up being what he considers to be the greatest night in the history of AEW. Ironically, Darby would suffer an injury less than two weeks later, breaking his foot in a match against Jay White performing a move that he had landed perfectly hundreds of times before.
Tony Khan On Dangerous Spots In AEW

With AEW not having as many restrictions as a company like WWE, the wrestlers are able to go the extra mile when it comes to blood, gore, and violence in their matches. While Darby Allin is known for being a risk taker, Hangman Page has drank Swerve Strickland’s blood on pay-per-view, Jon Moxley has spilled more blood in AEW than some wrestlers do in their entire careers, and even the women’s roster have brought thumbtacks and beds of nails into their matches. It might seem like Tony Khan doesn’t have a line that he wouldn’t cross, he explained that all of these dangerous spots have to be planned, and need to make sense in the context of the story and match.
“It has to make sense, and almost everything we’ve ever done, I thought made sense,” Khan said. “The things that, if there were ever a few that didn’t work out, I thought ‘well that probably didn’t make sense to begin with,’ and that’s why over the years I think we’ve really refined the process. But we have such great, great wrestlers that 99.9% of the time I always think everything they do is awesome, and I agree with the choices they make.”
Khan did admit that on pay-per-views and special episodes of “AEW Dynamite” like the aforementioned Blood and Guts episode, the AEW roster do tend to push themselves a little harder and take bigger risks than they usually would. However, he sees the sacrifices they make as an example of how great professional wrestling can be, and is extremely proud to have assembled a locker room full of people who are will to go to such lengths in order to entertain the fans, and benefit the company.

AEW return being eyed by former WWE star and Darby Allin’s ex-wife.
One of the stars who initially wrestled in AEW before joining WWE was Gigi Dolin, now going by Priscilla Kelly. Before joining the Stamford-based promotion in 2021, she was All Elite from 2019 to 2020. It was also during this time that Darby Allin joined the All Elite Wrestling, but both stars got married in 2018 before divorcing two years later.
Following Gigi’s WWE release earlier this year, she is now eyeing eventually get back to AEW, where Darby Allin is still wrestling. On the Instinct Culture Podcast with Denise Salcedo, Priscilla Kelly shared that her main goal at the moment is to have fun but eventually return to AEW. The former superstar noted that she felt she had left a lot of things on the table at the company before joining WWE.
I’ve told everybody like my main goal right now is just having fun. And that’s still my goal. I still want to have fun. But coming out of this year and going into 2026, I think, I don’t know. I think I’d really like to maybe go to AEW. I think there’s a lot of stuff that was left on the table.”
Excited for everyone at @AEWrestling today, including the hubs, @DarbyAllin!
Good luck and have fun! This is going to be awesome! 🌹#AEWDynamite#AEWpic.twitter.com/TTm5kXdbcJ
— Priscilla Kelly (@HellsFavoritePK) October 2, 2019
Priscilla Kelly and Darby Allin are currently engaged to other people. The former is with Zachary Wentz and got engaged in October 2023. The latter is also engaged to a high school friend whom he reconnected with years later.
Priscilla Kelly Hasn’t Been In Contact With Anybody in AEW, Including Darby Allin
In the same interview, the former WWE star revealed that she hasn’t contacted anybody in AEW about her plans, as she has been busy and has no plans to rush to return to television anyway after being in a “controlling” program for years.
Priscilla added that she wants to enjoy life for now, but long-term goals definitely involve her returning to a large wrestling promotion. Kelly added that in AEW, she would be able to express herself as they are more open to individuality.
I do think AEW is more of the type of place where you can express yourself a little bit, more individually over there. And like I say, pros and cons like that can be that can be a blessing or that can be someone’s downfall. And I think that’s I think it’s cool that over there, it just seems like you can you have a little bit more control on where that road can take you because they allow a little bit more individuality, I will say.”
It remains to be seen what the future holds for Priscilla Kelly in AEW.

Once a professional wrestler decides to hang up their boots, they can travel down many different avenues. Some start podcasts, others hit the convention circuit, and then there are those who stay close to the business by transitioning into a backstage role where they coach and train young talent. The latter of those paths is one that current AEW star Darby Allin has no interest in, and he explained why during a recent appearance on the “My Mom’s Basement” podcast.
“I honestly just want to disappear from the world of wrestling,” Allin said. “I don’t want a whole lot to do with it when I’m like retired. Yeah, it’s fun to see people like, you know, coach people, but I couldn’t. I don’t think I’d have the patience for it with the egos and stuff. … I don’t know. I kind of want to just disappear from everything, like I just want [to] live a personal, private life. Make movies and just disappear. … I don’t want to be one of these guys who’s clinging for the spotlight you know? Like, ‘Pay attention to me!'”
Despite not wanting anything to do with training young talent, or anything to do with wrestling after he eventually calls time on his career, Allin has had a small part to play in helping aspiring wrestlers who are close to him. He was famously close friends with Nick Wayne before Wayne signed with AEW as a teenager, and during a recent art show at 52 Walker, Allin was part of the debut match for Steven Borden Jr., the son of “The Icon” Sting, Allin’s former tag team partner, with Allin helping the son of Sting get up to speed with the basics of professional wrestling.

Earlier this year, AEW star Darby Allin performed the rare feat of climbing the tallest mountain in the world, Mt. Everest. In interviews since, Allin has emphasized the fact that AEW President and co-owner Tony Khan had no problem allowing Allin to take time off to attempt the dangerous task. Khan was asked to comment on Allin’s excursion while appearing on “Busted Open Radio,” and the executive shared his initial reaction to seeing Allin waving a literal AEW flag at the top of the mountain.
“It means the world,” Khan said. “He was so determined and he had this goal to go to Mt. Everest, and I have always thought Darby was the ultimate team player before he left, and then the first time I saw him when he had come down from the mountain, it was like the greatest team player had somehow found another gear. It was like he went from being a 10 to an 11, when it came to selflessness and his attitude.”
Khan continued praising Allin, sharing that the wrestler seemed to have a renewed focus following his climb. After returning from Everest in July, Allin jumped right back into his feud against Jon Moxley and the Death Riders, leading to Allin finally picking up a singles victory over Moxley at AEW WrestleDream in October.
Allin has been a key figure within AEW for most of the company’s history. He made his debut for the promotion at the second AEW show, Fyter Fest, in June 2019. Eventually becoming known as one of the “Four Pillars of AEW,” Allin has held the TNT Championship twice and served as one half of the AEW World Tag Team Champions alongside Sting in 2024.Â
