Tottenhamâ€s aerial prowess under Thomas Frank brought Everton plummeting back to earth at Hill Dickinson Stadium. Spurs inflicted Evertonâ€s first defeat at their new home courtesy of three headed goals, two from the outstanding Micky van de Ven, to rise to third in the Premier League and maintain their dominant form on the road.
The disconnect at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium stands in stark contrast to the ruthless efficiency of Frankâ€s team away from home. Van de Ven converted two corners before substitute Pape Matar Sarr banished any prospect of an Everton recovery with another close-range header in the 89th minute. Given the glaring absence of a quality striker in David Moyes†squad, the prospect of an Everton comeback was always remote despite the probings of Iliman Ndiaye, James Garner, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Jack Grealish. It is now 13 points from a possible 15 for Frankâ€s side on their travels this season.
The contest was shaped by corners and Van de Venâ€s domineering presence at both ends of the pitch. Everton matched Spurs for enterprising approach work but had no answer to the quality of the visitors†set-piece delivery or their captainâ€s aerial strength. The boos that greeted the half-time whistle were aimed squarely at referee Craig Pawson, however.
Grealish almost started where he left off last time out at Hill Dickinson Stadium by putting Everton ahead from close range. The superb Ndiaye scorched past Djed Spence to set up Beto but, after the hapless centre-forward failed to connect, Grealish arrived at the back post and saw a goal-bound drive blocked in front of the line by Pedro Porro. Dewsbury-Hall sliced the loose ball high and wide.
Rodrigo Bentancur and Xavi Simons both troubled the Everton defence as an open, flowing game allowed the respective midfields to impress. But it was a central defender who took centre stage. From a Mohammed Kudus corner swept high to the back post, Bentancur directed the ball back across goal with his shoulder for Van de Ven to nod in from a yard out.
It was the first goal Everton have conceded from a set piece all season and Spurs†first attempt on target. It became two set-piece goals conceded in first-half stoppage time when the visitors†accuracy under Frank punished Moyes†team again. Porro was the provider, this time from the left with a brilliant, vicious corner that demanded a finish. Van de Ven applied it once the inswinging delivery sailed over James Tarkowski and before Jordan Pickfordâ€s fists could connect. The defenderâ€s two first-half headers must have come from a combined distance of two yards out.

Spurs†second arrived during seven minutes of time added on mainly for the decision to disallow a towering header by Jake Oâ€Brien moments after Van de Venâ€s opener. The Everton defender thought he had equalised from another fine corner, taken by Dewsbury-Hall, and a header that gave Guglielmo Vicario no chance in the Spurs†goal. Everton celebrations were diluted when the video assistant referee advised Pawson to inspect the pitch-side monitor.
They were spoiled completely when the match official deemed that Ndiaye and Grealish were both offside and interfering with Vicario. The pair were clearly in an offside position when Oâ€Brien connected but the extent to which they interfered with the goalkeeper was highly debatable. Pawsonâ€s on-field explanation was inaudible amid the jeers that drowned him out.

Everton responded well to the blows, particularly after the restart. Beto, who failed to read an inviting cross across the face of goal from Ndiaye in the first half, almost atoned with an overhead kick from the Senegal internationalâ€s cross. Vicario produced an excellent reflex save to deny the No 9. Spurs†commitment to a clean sheet was exemplified by João Palhinha throwing himself in the way of Idrissa Gueyeâ€s volley late on. Richarlison should have extended the visitors†lead when a long ball caught out Tarkowski and left him through on goal, but Pickford spread himself well to thwart the former Everton striker.
Richarlison was heavily involved in Spurs†third, however, cushioning a header from another accurate Porro centre back across goal for Sarr to head beyond Pickford.

Chris Jerichoâ€s latest career twist might be setting sail straight back to WWE.
The seventh edition of Jerichoâ€s Rock ‘N†Wrestling Rager at Sea is officially locked in for November 7–11, 2026. The cruise, dubbed “The Seventh Cruise of a Seventh Cruise,†will depart from Miami aboard the Norwegian Jewel and head to Bimahi, Bahamas. As always, fans can expect live wrestling, music from FOZZY, comedy sets, podcasts, and legendary wrestling guests. But this time, thereâ€s one big difference—no AEW.
None of the promotional material for the 2026 cruise mentions All Elite Wrestling. There are no AEW wrestlers announced, no branding, nothing. And thatâ€s got people talking, including Bryan Alvarez and Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio. Alvarez didnâ€t waste time calling it out.
“Jericho Cruise has been announced for 2026. Nobody from AEW on the boat. No references to AEW.â€
Meltzer then jumped in with some layered context, pointing to previous years where AEW talent was added later, but he admitted the signs are starting to add up.
“Somebody told me that last cruise he did, there were no AEW people announced until months ahead. But I will say this: people in WWE believe that heâ€s coming to WWE, for what thatâ€s worth.â€
The longtime journalist pointed out Jerichoâ€s recent shift in content—like no longer reviewing AEW matches on his podcast—and said it might be intentional.
“He doesnâ€t review AEW matches anymore, heâ€s reviewing other matches and things like that… I think that if [a WWE return] happens, heâ€s not going to be saying it. Heâ€ll want it to be a surprise.â€
Meltzer even floated the idea of a WWE Royal Rumble appearance leading to a WrestleMania match and Hall of Fame induction, which has reportedly been rumored for a while. Then came the part that really got fans speculating. Meltzer revealed that Jericho hasnâ€t been on AEW TV since April and suggested that Tony Khan might already be aware of Jerichoâ€s possible departure.
“If heâ€s not back on AEW television by January, I think people are going to kind of figure that part out… Heâ€s been ready for a couple months… And then nothing happened. After about a month after the tour ended and he didnâ€t come back, I started thinking: Tonyâ€s probably not bringing him back and probably figures heâ€s going to WWE.â€
Jerichoâ€s AEW contract is set to expire in December 2025, but the stripped-down cruise and lack of AEW connections seem to be telling their own story. Still, Jericho hasnâ€t confirmed anything. In fact, he might be playing things close to the vest on purpose.
During a recent appearance on Busted Open Radio, Jericho looked back on some of his careerâ€s biggest moments—his WWE debut, “A little bit of the bubbly,†the Festival of Friendship, and the Dinner Debonair—but intentionally left the fifth spot on his list open.
“Thatâ€s the way I always think of it. ‘Whatâ€s your favorite moment of your career?†Current, now. If I didnâ€t think it was the best, then why am I doing it?… We leave the space blank, and weâ€ll see what happens.â€
And when asked point blank whatâ€s coming next for him, Jericho gave his classic cryptic response:
“We donâ€t know, right? Weâ€ll just have to see.â€
With WWE insiders allegedly expecting his return, a Royal Rumble comeback in January would mark a dramatic full-circle moment for the 35-year wrestling veteran.
For now, fans are left watching the horizon. Whether he stays with AEW, shows up in WWE, or shocks everyone with a totally different path, Jerichoâ€s next chapter is already getting people talking—and thatâ€s exactly how he likes it.

Chelsea kickstarted their European campaign with a comfortable victory over Paris FC. Alyssa Thompson scored her first goal in west London as Sonia Bompastorâ€s side dominated proceedings. Sandy Baltimore opened the scoring from the penalty spot while Johanna Rytting Kaneryd and Erin Cuthbert also got on the scoresheet.
It was a memorable night for Thompson who added the hosts†third immediately after the break. The 20-year-old has enjoyed a bright start to her Chelsea career since making a high-profile £1.1m move from Angel City this summer. She played an integral role in getting Chelsea this Champions League win at Stamford Bridge and Bompastor was delighted with her progression.
“Iâ€m glad for her because I think sheâ€s been working hard and the fact that she was able to score her first goal is really important for her confidence,†she said.
“Sheâ€s really quick and she has an engine. I think we havenâ€t seen the best of her yet but hopefully weâ€ll see that soon. Sheâ€s coming from abroad … Itâ€s a new environment. She needs to learn to connect with the players on the pitch.â€
Chelsea had endured a frustrating start to their Champions League challenge, the only trophy to elude their grasp. This will have therefore come as a welcome result after a 1-1 draw against Twente last week in Enschede and a host of wasted opportunities that were starting to cause some consternation.

“I think we were the better team,†Bompastor said. “We created a lot again. We scored really good goals from different players and we could have had more.â€
The recent lack of attacking cohesion has not been helped by Bompastorâ€s rotation. There were just two changes on this occasion with Baltimore and Sjoeke Nüsken coming in.
Paris FC had suffered an equally underwhelming start, surrendering a 2-0 lead to the newcomers OH Leuven. Sandrine Soubeyrand welcomed back the goalkeeper Mylène Chavas while Maëlle Garbino and Anaële Le Moguédec also came in.
It promised to be an intriguing contest between two managers who are very well acquainted. Bompastor and Soubeyrand played for France together for over a decade while also meeting often as managers in the Première Ligue.
Chelsea dominated proceedings from the start. The urgency to score early was clear and led to a series of snatched opportunities when patience was needed. Nüsken and Cuthbert had efforts from distance while Aggie Beever-Jones scuffed two gilt-edged opportunities.

Quick GuideRoundup: Barça rout Roma, Wolfsburg and Leuven win lateShow
Alexia Putellas [pictured] scored a penalty but missed another as Barcelona won 4-0 at Roma to maintain their flying start to the league phase. After thrashing Bayern Munich 7-1 in their opener, Barça broke through after just two minutes in the Italian capital, Esmee Brugts scrambling the ball in from close range.
Barcelona won a penalty early in the second half, only for Putellas to send her attempted Panenka over the bar. Just before the hour, Kika Nazareth volleyed into the far corner to double the visitors’ lead, and Putellas made amends with her second spot-kick. Caroline Graham Hansen’s late tap-in completed the rout.
Twente could not follow up last week’s draw with Chelsea as they lost 2-1 at OH Leuven despite taking a first-half lead through Jaimy Ravensbergen. The Dutch side held on until the 82nd minute before conceding a penalty, converted by Linde Veefkind. In the sixth minute of stoppage time, Sara Pusztai struck a spectacular winner for Leuven, smashing the ball into the top corner.
Earlier, a much-changed OL Lyonnes side eased to a 3-0 home win over St Pölten. Jule Brand opened the scoring with her first goal for the club, and Ada Hegerberg headed the hosts’ second just before half-time as the Austrian visitors paid for missed chances. Teenage midfielder Lily Yohannes completed the scoring soon after the restart with a brilliant lob from close to the halfway line.
Wolfsburg grabbed a late victory at VÃ¥lerenga thanks to Janina Minge’s penalty. The midfielder converted from the spot with the last kick of the game after Naina Inauen’s foul in the area. Wolfsburg took the lead through Lineth Beerensteyn in the 57th minute, but Sara Hørte headed home just three minutes later to level for the hosts in Oslo. Guardian sport

Thank you for your feedback.
Their pressure eventually told, however, when Nüsken went down in the box with half an hour played. The offence from Le Moguédec was not initially spotted by the referee, Michalina Diakow, but after a brief trip to the VAR monitor, she duly pointed to the spot. Baltimore stepped up to convert for the second week in a row.
Chelsea consolidated their advantage just before the break when Thompson broke forward at pace. A clever turn gave her space to stand up a cross for Rytting Kaneryd to loop a header home. The winger looked slightly bemused that it had ended up in the back of the net, celebrating with an expression that said she is not accustomed to scoring with her head.
Chelsea did not let their foot off the gas and extended their lead immediately after the break with Thompsonâ€s close-range finish. They soon had a fourth when Cuthbert touched home a Sam Kerr header on the line.
There was still time for the Cobham academy product and England youth international Lexi Potter to make her debut as Chelsea saw out a comfortable victory. It was an important three points on the board ahead of a trip to Austria to face St Pölten next month.

Chris Jericho has begun the promotional push for his next Rock ‘n’ Wrestling Rager at Sea cruise — and the first names announced are sure to raise questions about his wrestling future.
The cruise is set to take place from November 7-11, 2026, sailing from Miami, Florida to the Bahamas. Jericho has made the cruise a nearly annual tradition dating back to 2018. And since 2020, Jericho and AEW have partnered together to have some of the promotion’s wrestlers appear on the cruise. But there are no AEW names (other than Jericho) listed among the first batch of talent for the 2026 edition.
Here are the wrestlers, legends, and media members advertised to be part of the 2026 cruise:
- Chris Jericho
- Jeff Hardy
- Saraya
- The Great Muta
- Dave LaGreca, Nic Nemeth, and Bully Ray of SiriusXM’s Pro Wrestling Nation
- Elayna Black (the former Cora Jade)
- Ted DiBiase
- Carlito
- Shotzi Blackheart
- Fred Ottman (Tugboat)
- Vampiro
- Marcus Bagwell
- The Blue Meanie
- AJ Francis
- Natalia Markova
- Victoria Crawford (the former Alicia Fox)
- Mo Jabari
- Indi Hartwell
- Lacey Lane
- Kacy Catanzaro
- Ricky Knight Jr.
- Sonny Onoo
- Chris Van Vliet
- Gabby LaSpisa
By the time the cruise takes place, we’ll know how things sorted out with Jericho’s contract situation. He’s slated to become a free agent at the start of 2026 when his AEW deal expires. There are rumors that he could be headed back to WWE, but Jericho has not confirmed what his next move will be. He’s publicly left the door open to either staying with AEW or returning to WWE.
Jericho joined AEW when it launched in 2019 and was the promotion’s first-ever World Champion. In 2020, AEW presented an episode of Dynamite from the Jericho cruise.
Since April of this year, Jericho has been off AEW TV since deciding to take a break amid negative crowd reactions he was receiving.
A pre-sale for the 2026 cruise is now underway. It’s the seventh cruise that Jericho and event company Sixthman have partnered together for.

India secure an unassailable lead in their one-day international series with England courtesy of a four-wicket victory in Cuttack.
England have succumbed to another tame defeat at the hands of India with the home side prevailing by four wickets in Cuttack.
Having posted a target of 305, England would have fancied their chances of defending that sizeable total, yet the brilliance of Rohit Sharma ensured a routine India run chase with 33 balls to spare.
The defeat ensures that India have established an unassailable 2-0 series lead with one match remaining, with that contest taking place on Wednesday.
In winning the toss, England took the chance to try to post a target that would at least test their hosts, and Phil Salt and Ben Duckett on 81 runs for the opening wicket.
On the back of Salt being dismissed for 26, Duckett and Joe Root impressed with knocks of 65 and 69 respectively, but scoring at a rapid rate despite a lack of maximums.
Sitting on 219-3 after 38.3 overs, England felt in relative control, but the dismissal of Jos Buttler for 34 left England reliant on Liam Livingstone, with the all-rounder making 41 from 32.
Adil Rashid added a valuable 14 from five deliveries, but three run outs cost England and kept India in the game.

Sharma obliterates England attack
Rohit and Shubman Gill were outstanding during the opening stages of the reply, with a 136-run partnership being compiled before Jamie Overton dismissed Gill after a knock of 60 from 52 balls.
Nevertheless, although Virat Kohli went cheaply for five, England were powerless when it came to dealing with Rohit, who ultimately scored 119 from 90 balls in an innings that featured 12 boundaries and seven maximums.
Shreyas Iyer (44) and Axar Patel (41*) were able to manoeuvre the ball around to act as the ideal foil to their skipper, and it proved decisive as the win was achieved with 33 deliveries remaining.
